Service was slow and disorganized, we didn't receive silverware until we asked. I ordered the bisque and had to wait for a spoon. We also had to ask for bread after seeing a table receive bread that was just sat while we had been there for 20 minutes. The food was not great 2 people got the standard meals that were good and a decent portion and 2 of us got meals from the guest chef. the surf and turf contained a lobster claw that was 3 bites at best and a filet that was cold. the seafood and rice meal had a generous serving of rice and contained a very small sample of basically 1 piece each and not much else. Probably will not go back

Great meal in early December. Took advantage of the guest chef, Anthony Donofrio. We sat at the bar in front of the guest chef station and had great interaction with the chef. The food was amazing. I had the salad with egg on top as well as the duck. It was well prepared and presented, and sitting by the chef station was a blast. The restaurant itself is nice, not too big and very warm and cozy. I will be back, perhaps for NYE.

What a great concept! Rotating chefs (revolving door) every few weeks, each bringing their own unique menus, and preparing the food right in front of you! It can never get stale. The night we went had two chefs working. We had a Tuna Tar-Tar appetizer that was awesome. We had a Duck Two Ways entree with Creamed Polenta and a Buttered Lobster and Broccoli Rabe plate. Both were phenomenal! All the food was great. The layout of the dining area is really cool. The tables are set up around two good sized bars. One of the bars is open to a full cooking line where the chefs work right in front of you! It was great just to watch them at their craft! The service was excellent as well. Our server Sam was knowledgable and attentive. Every course was well timed and the house specialty cocktails were great! No complaints here, hence the 5-Star review. I will definitely be going back to meet a new chef!

Revolving door should evolve their apps... We came here with a good friend of ours as a recommendation and sat at the bar! Bartender Tricia was a doll...very sweet pretty and funny. Have no complaints about the staff...they were all friendly and had good customer service. Drinks are delicious...I had the margarita. We ordered every appetizer on the menu. When they came out we were all shocked at how little there was on each plate...literally enough for 2 maybe 3 bites. All apps were $9+ dollars...one app we got was the calamari and there were maybe enough for 4 bites. The spring roll was 1 roll cut in half! I couldn't believe it...we left starving after paying alot for what we got. They all tasted ok...but nothing to rave about and there just wasnt enough. The atmosphere is nice and they do have an outdoor patio. I hear the dinner entrees are very good...maybe we will skip the apps, go for meals and then sit outside and chill at the outdoor fire table next time. I will update my review when I try the dinner or dessert options.

Guest chef during the week of 7/5/2015 was absolutely incredible. Such a creative idea to have rotating guest chefs. This is a place for true foodies who appreciate fine culinary art.

the waitress introduced herself and left. Ten minutes later she offered water and left us to enjoy that for twenty minutes. Then took the order and showed up ten minutes later with some bread but no plates (crumbs all over the g*d* rug). The bread gets eaten and the plates come out but it's too late, I've already made a mess. The drinks take 10 minutes only to find out they are out of the beer we ordered. I'm not certain where our waitress was on this one but then the app catches fire and we get another app but they took the plates but then we get a free desert that our waitress tried to charge us for so I'm not sure what was going on there. I think she was super into the kitchen manager from what I could see. When she was ignoring us, she was talking to him. the concept is great. I love that they host chefs and the menu changes often. That's the base line- it's pretty interesting and Id like to continue to go back. Maybe tonight was just an off night but that one element, the server, really made everything a little irritating.

We had dinner there once and it was great! Their Malt Whitman drink is one of the best drinks in town. The staff is amazing and always so nice and helpful. Its not the place for a romantic dinner as the inside can get pretty loud....but if you want a great meal with a fantastic drink menu and top notch customer service...this is the place!

Cool concept. Revolving door of chefs. Great quality and prices are not bad. Definitely worth a look. Nice to be able to eat outside

Ok, so I looked at some of the other reviews and I will need to come back here to make sure my experience was just a fluke...as it doesn't match match what others are saying. I also love the revolving door concept. We had a mix of things from the guest chef and the house chef. The best thing we had was a bbq pizza. Very, very yummy. The problem was, I didn't really care for much else...it was bland. I was so disappointing...and out about $100. I will go back and try again.

Stumbled upon this place while looking for a dog friendly dining spot. Cool concept with revolving chefs. The Italian influenced meal I had was very good. Attentive waitstaff and pleasant atmosphere on the outdoor patio.

Guest Chef Basil Yu and Jason and Tricia ( epic bartenders!) , you have ruined my life. Food, my dear friend and companion, that's been with me through ups and downs...(punny huh?).. will never, ever be the same. You have raised the bar for Exotic American Cuisine ( if that's a term, if not I take credit for coining it) in Newport, and what a pleasure it is to have been a patron tonight. Exquisite !

We have a condo in Newport and always enjoy the restaurants and food that we receive in the area. We had not yet dined at the revolving door and another couple told us we had to try it. We sat at the little outside bar area that they have and it was a pleasant. The night started off very well - We ordered apps off of the chef's menu and they were delicious and timely. My issue with the restaurant is that it took 75 minutes for us to receive our Entrees. The bartender apologized twice and was sympathetic - but it was not her fault out food took an inexcusable amount of time. During this time she checked the kitchen a few times and asked her manager about the dishes - after that point we still waited another 25 minutes. What I don't understand is how even after this the manager did not bother to come up to us to apologize himself for the poor kitchen performance. We received our food around 9:30 - at which point from about 8:45-9 there were many empty tables in the restaurant. Sure the food was good - but given I received 1 piece of shrimp in my Shrimp and Swordfish Risotto and waited 75 minutes for it - it wasn't nearly as good as it should have been. I wouldn't go back here to wait another insanely long time for food when they are other awesome options close by they have always served us timely.

I gave it a five because we had absolutely delicious food.....could not be better (thanks Chef Wild!).....and it was reasonably priced. The interior is very nicely done, so I'd recommend skipping the patio dining area. We arrived on a Monday night around 6:30 and were immediately seated with no reservation. It must be a late crowd because the place was packed an hour later. We may just have had the same young waitress another reviewer did, as our drinks were mixed up as well, but she was so pleasant and accommodating, that it made absolutely no difference. We shared an entree of chicken roulade with an appetizer of roasted beeT salad with goat cheese and arugula, no problem or extra charge, so our gourmet meal cost $32 for the two of us! Hell, that's less than two lobster roll sandwiches, and again, nothing but pleasantries from our server. Then, I decided to get fancy and tried a dessert invented by visiting Chef Wild: a filo pastry puff of sorts with raspberries, lemon cream and white chocolate...check out the photo. I'd go back in a heartbeat!

Had an amazing experience at The Revolving Door!! I went here for dinner with my family and we had amazing service! At The Revolving Door, part of the menu is fixed and costs $24 for either a NY Strip Steak or the Shrimp Scampi, which also includes a salad as an app. The salad was amazing and my Shrimp Scampi was as well! I didn't love the sauce in the middle so that's why I give it only 4 stars. Everything else was perfection!

Chef Juan provided us with an awesome evening of both food and culinary skills. Jason was our server and made our experience very comfortable. Can't wait to bring my family and friends!

Good food and atmosphere. My wife and I ordered the marinated hanger steak. Mine came out a little over cooked but the marinade was excellent. Service was very good as well. Little pricey but we would most likely go again.

Just had dinner here and it was absolutely amazing. We had scallops and the porkchop from the guest chef's menu, and he did not disappoint! We sat at the bar, which I would highly recommend, as we got to actually watch the chefs work, and chat with the bartender/manager, Ryan who was awesome. The food was incredible, the service was friendly and on point, and the ambience was upscale without feeling pretentious. Great date night spot without totally emptying your pockets! We will certainly be back!

What a pleasure to have dinner here with the guest chef Pietro Scotti! Such amazing handmade treats like fresh mozz, ricotta filled ravioli, and yellow fin tuna atop fresh linguini-- felt like I was back in Italy again. We had great service at the bar and the drinks are out of this world. We tried the door is duke and the pomegranate with prosecco. Both were so smooth and refreshing.

This is a new restaurant in Newport opened just a month or more ago. Great concept of having two static meals on the menu and the remainder of the menu, an ever changing variety created and presented by a guest chef who is at the restaurant for a week or a month, along with visiting mixologists. This place has been packed since Day 1 and for good reason. I've had both the static menu as well as the offerings of the current guest chef. Great food, excellent ambience for those who truly enjoy good drink, goo food and being in the theater for the preparation of food. Four times already and will go back again soon.

The Revolving Door is a brand new restaurant owned and operated by its neighboring restaurant, Bouchard. Since my boyfriend and I absolutely die for Bocuhard, we figured we had to check out their brand new space, obviously. To start, the decor of the new restaurant is wonderful- it's very modern and has a funky fresh vibe, something Newport desperately needs. The absolute kicker and what make this place rock is the fact that they have "visiting chefs" who stay for about 2-3 weeks, each bringing a completely brand new menu with them. This is amazing and exciting for foodies such as myself and my bf because it's like a new restaurant every month!! So fun! They also have a "house menu" of steak frites and shrimp scampi, which remains with each chef's new menu. Additionally, their bar and cocktails are phenomenal, and they usually have guest bartenders as well. We really loved this place. We each had a specialty cocktail, a king crab appetizer from the guest chef (which was heavenly), then for entrees I had a scallop dish from the guest chef and the bf had the house steak frites. All in all- outstanding experience and we will definitely return. Bravo Bouchard!
