This place gets three stars because of the location - otherwise, I may have just gone with "meh." We were seated on the outdoor deck on a gorgeous day. The food was fine. It was overpriced, though, but we knew this going in, and you can tell it will be just by looking at the place. It is flanked by yachts and is straight out of South Beach in decor and ambiance. $13 for a plan old Caesar Salad of average size (no chicken, no nothing) is steep. There should not be any brown in a salad with such a price tag, but a piece snuck in. I ate it anyway. My boyfriend ordered the truffled grilled cheese and tomato, although without tomato and he requested a cheese change which was easily granted. It was very tasty, nice and browned and crunchy as a grilled cheese should be, served with nice fries. $16 for this. If you are prone to sticker shock or looking for value, do not go here. If you are looking for great service, also do not go here, as I will soon discuss. We each ordered a drink which featured measured pouring. My DC was not thrilled with his Tom Collins. My mimosa was okay - it featured some freshly squeezed OJ, which I appreciated, but was light on the champagne. My DC was even less thrilled when he sat there with an empty drink for 20 minutes, during which our food had been delivered but no new drink offered (the food was delivered by a runner). When the waitress finally did approach, it then took almost another 10 minutes for the diet coke to arrive (apparently, it needs to be prepared by the bartender). There really was no one in there for lunch at that time as we were there on the late side - 3:00-3:30 ish. The service was the only real issue here. Later, we returned to meet friends for drinks at the bar, and when we approached the bar, no one greeted us - we had to flag down a bartender. My friends who had arrived earlier reported the same thing. There were 3 bartenders, and they were inexplicably busy-seeming and unavailable though the bar was only half full at that point. Again, the boyfriend sat with an empty drink before him for 12 minutes (we timed it) and was not asked if he wanted another. I hate when a place is beautiful and feels like it doesn't have to try. It's okay for this place to be a stop for one drink, check out the sunset, ooh and aah at the yachts of the super-rich, then move on.

This place is all about the view. If you have the opportunity of staying at the hotel, it's great to walk downstairs for a breakfast overlooking the dock and bay. My husband and I really enjoyed their pancakes and spinach goat cheese quiche. Service is a bit slow because their kitchen is not on the same floor as the restaurant, but if you are on holiday, don't stress and enjoy the view, once the food arrives it is worth the wait. Tip: after your meal or drinks, take a stroll through the hotel property, it is really beautiful and they gave great attention to details in their decor.

We ate here over the busy Labor Day weekend, and we had a great experience. The staff was great. They helped my pregnant wife get to a nice table outside under a heat lamp so she was comfortable. The food was really good, too. The lamb was perfectly cooked and the mashed potatoes were great. The views of super nice yachts can't be beat either. This place had a great vibe, and is a great place for drinks/dinner. We would go here again.

My husband and I were in Newport for the day, this past Tuesday, and decided to go to an old favorite restaurant for lunch only to discover that the old Christie's was no more but instead there was a beautiful outdoor covered deck on the water, surrounded by awesome yachts. It was a beautiful sunny day with a nice breeze coming off the water so we decided to stay. The hostess greeting was friendly and informative. The first table where we were seated was not totally in the shade so we asked to move. Later, a family was seated at the same unshaded table although there were many other shaded tables available and they commented on the lack of shade! My husband ordered the Salade Nicoise made with fresh seared tuna and a glass of Sauvignon Blanc and I ordered the grilled chicken BLT on focaccia bread and iced tea. Our waitress brought our drinks My iced tea was a floral, herbal tea, not the expected regular tea and it should have been mentioned by the waitress when she took my order. Since it was okay I didn't send it back. My husband's wine was getting warm as we waited for our food and so he sent it back to the bar. We waited and waited and waited for our meal to be served observing that all the other patrons who were seated after us were served their meals. After 20 minutes our waitress finally saw us signaling her and she said she would check on the order because she may have forgotten to enter it since she was so busy! She returned to the computer station and then we waited some more. After another long while we caught her eye again and she said she would check in the kitchen and she disappeared for what was again a long time. Finally the food arrived! The tuna was nicely cooked and seasoned but the salad looked like it was thrown together in a rush. The grilled chicken was dry and the focaccia so huge that it was impossible to eat as a sandwich. The accompanying portion of french fries was also huge. Since there was no bread served with his salad my husband shared my focaccia and the french fries, otherwise he would have left the restaurant hungry. When the waitress checked with us about the food she claimed that the delay of our order was due to inexperienced staff in the kitchen. We were flabbergasted by her disingenuous remark since she had neglected to enter the order originally! During this whole sorry experience she never apologized and a manager type who was busy scurrying around the restaurant in passing our table perfunctorily asked how everything was but didn't wait for any meaningful answer. To summarize, the service was terrible; the tuna was good; the sandwich mediocre; the wine, while good, at $12 a glass should have been more generous. The design of the place is very well done and hopefully the service and quality of the food will eventually match it.

Came here for lunch during the Newport International Boat Show. What a great location on a nice summer day. Food was very good. Service was also good except for our waiter who was more than a little slow. I would have thought it was the kitchen that was slowing things down but everyone else seemed to get served in a timely manner. I'll definitely be back though.

Seriously - do not go to this place! It is a complete waste of money. There are so many great places on the water in Newport that are actually good! I came here on a Sunday night to have a drink with my sister in law and mother. The beautiful outside bar is what lured us in. We took a seat in one of the nice outdoor couches. When it was clear that no one was going to stop by, I walked to the bar and asked for a drink menu. The woman at the bar told me that someone would stop by. When we still had not seen someone for 10 minutes I went back to the bar. Again, the woman said that someone would be by. Finally, after about 15 minutes, a waitress stopped by. My sister in law and I got mixed drinks and my mom got a mojito. Sounds pretty simple, right? Well it took them about 20 minutes to bring us our drinks! When my mom got her drink she got something that looked like (and tasted like) dirty water. The mint leaves were literally rotten. She ended up going up to the bar (since no one stopped back by) and getting a glass of wine instead. My drink was fine, but nothing special. For $15 for a mixed drink it was definitely not worth it. I would rather stop drinking then go back to this place for a drink!

I always thought the Grill was only outdoor summer seating but their inside bar and dining room are just as fabulous! The decor and lighting is perfect and it has a very relaxed feeling. I had the best meal that I have every had this past week. and the server was well versed on everything to do with the restaurant and hotel. Chef Kim evern ran our food to us! I have never seen a Chef do that before. Great Job!

This place received great reviews and we felt we needed to check it out. It was so not Newport-esque and I truly felt like I was in Miami when we arrived. It was a huge restaurant on the water with tons of outside seating, neon lights and all the staff in long sleeve/long pant white outfits. I was astonished that the kitchen was up about 40 stairs and they had to carry trays up and down the stairs. We were immediately seated and it took a while for our waitress to come over and ask if we wanted drinks. We ordered drinks. My dads martini was so bad that he sent it back and asked for a beer. Our waters were room temperature. It's mainly a fishy restaurant so there were very few veggie options for me. The waitress recommended getting side dishes and a salad, so I did. We ordered our appetizers. My caprese salad was good - nothing out of this world. They brought out my dads salad and dropped the tomato on the back of my shirt. The waiter laughed, barely apologized and asked my dad if he wanted another tomato. Yes, I want one - please. A while later he brought out a "new" tomato. As another waitress came by to clear our plates, she asked if we wanted dessert. We hadn't had our entrees yet. I had asparagus and tater tots. Both were fine - room temperature and nothing special. My moms fish was room temperature and my dads was just eh. It took the waitress so long to bring anything, do anything, help with anything. The bill was extremely overpriced and we were not happy. Overall, I would never go back to this place. Nothing was that good. The ambiance was too scene-y and trying to hard to be something other than Newport. I love Newport and it's charm. We asked the guy at the hostess stand if he was the manager, and he said no but he would be happy to help us. We told him our complaints and he said he was sorry to hear that. The end. Never again.

Merv and Alex have been the best, most attentive and friendly bar tenders and waiters we could have asked for! Lovely atmosphere and ambiance! Definitely bringing our friends back here!

A bunch of us went to Forty 1 North for dinner this past Saturday night. We didnt make reservations and didnt think we'd be able to eat. But the manager was nice enough to seat us as long as we were finished by 9:30. I thought it was a little strange when one of the most incredible locations and chichi atmostphere restaurants was available for a party of 10 up until 9pm on a Saturday in the middle of high tourist season. Who knows, maybe they had a cancellation. Also, 6 more of my friends wanted to join us so they had more room up stairs at the bar. Anyway, we were seated and the place looks just out of South Beach. Super luxury yauchts were surrounding our view which definitely made the ambience feel more exclusive. I ordered the special, the Swordfish, and most of the guys ordered the bone-in filet. The service was extremely slow initially so we almost ordered 2 drinks at a time. Yes, we planned a good night out and wanted to start off right! The appetizers came and I was a little dissapointed. The mussels were not very good and there were only 3 shrimp to the coctail. Usually there is at least 4 xtra large in most Boston high end restaurants. The crab cakes were very good. The waiter suggested them. The swordfish was about the size of a cheesecake and did look quite appetizing. So I take my fork and attempt a mouth watering bite. Only to find it was too tough, I had to use a knife. Yes, I knife. At the same time I look up and my friend was eye balling a dry filet. Very dissappointed but most of us were starving after a long day at the beach, slow service and decided to just eat it fast with lots of drinks. The sides were actually pretty good. The tater tots if you can believe it were very good. Highly recommended! The asparagus was well asparagus. After our marginal meal, we met up with some friends who live in Newport. They had asked where we went to dinner and I had told them Forty 1 north. All of them said....ewww not there! The bar is great but the food it terrible. I will know for next time. Great Ambience, very expensive drinks and terrible food. Place to be seen and feel like you are in South Beach. Also, Jersey Shore look a likes will make a late night arrival from the ABC...

Dinner last night was as the saying in my family goes "not the best but not the worst." When your read the menu, this place sounds delicious then you sit down. Slowly, the first thing that came to the table was chef's complimentary dish ... a blue cheese tartlet. I have an allergy to gluten which our wait person was indifferent at best to this information, so I declined. Then the bread came to the table and I had decline that as well. My spouse said the bleu cheese tartlet tasted like glue and was ice cold. Upon hearing that I immediately decided to order whatever was the most simple preparation ... a filet. Mistake! I should have gone for the kobe flatiron steak as spouse did. Other things, the wine list was overpriced but had a decent selection. We decided to split sashimi appetizer ... it was good except I could not eat the wasabi sorbet so they just didn't bring any for my spouse. Our oysters came and the wait person forgot to mention there were two kinds, which we discovered after snarfing down the one closest. It would have been nice to know there were 2 types of oysters! Green salad as expected and unmemorable. Then another patron dropped a water glass which smashed into a thousand pieces. Not one person that worked there reacted ... no napkin was produced, no one came over, no one asked if the patron was OK. They simply ignored the situation. After about a minute a person came by with a broom and dustpan but the table with the accident shooed the help away and got up and walked out. I should have too.

Yes!....I'm a fan! A friend and I bar hopped around Newport. We popped into 3 other baws (New England talk) before landing at 41N. It's situated down a breezeway so it was clearly a stubble upon for us. The drinks, food presentation and overall decorum set the look for upscale nightlife. We walked right from the table to the dance floor where DJ Derek the Prince kicked a variety of music that created a serious party atmosphere. WE LOVED IT!....yeah, 41N is definitely a DO!

Probably the worst service I have ever encountered at the outside bar. Bartender completely ignored us, helped others that came after us, never acknowledged we where sitting g there, got up and left

  • Christine N.

We came because of the view. Sitting outside, you're right there, seemingly _in_ the gorgeous, crystal blue water. After ogling fantastic boats, we wanted to linger in Newport a little longer so we decided to give the bar here a try. Though we were underdressed, service did not turn us away. We detected no snobbery. Prices were, no surprise, high, but the white, modern, Hamptons decor was relaxing. The white sangria was thoroughly well made. Hubby stuck with beer, mom stuck with wine. A nice place to rest your feet.

Made our dinner reservation a month ago. There was no room inside so we were forced to sit outside. If it was a sunny warm day it would've been an enjoyable surprise, but it was dark, with a raw wind blowing - maybe they were saving electricity by not turning on the outside lights. It took 25 minutes to get our 2 glasses of wine after we ordered them; there was just 1 outside bartender and just 1 waitress. We refused to wait hours to get our meals based on what we had just read on yelp from other reviewers, so we left, in the dark rather than ordering entrees. Beautiful surroundings but so what! Go anyplace else! Note: this was originally posted under Forty 1 North, rather than The Grill At Forty 1 North.

Where shall we start: cocktail order: Ketel One up with a twist ( we added a visual) forgot the order, asked again and still brought the wrong cocktail. Forgot the bottle of wine we ordered and had to ask again. The tasting glass for wine came with a schmear of "something" (as we say in NYC) on the glass. Ceasar salad bland and NO fresh pepper, though requested . AND the anchovies.....???tasted like sardines. So far so NOT good! My entre, brought the WRONG entre. We really do not mind to pay for quality, BUT the quality MUST be there. You want to compete with big boys....... well you have a long way to go. The men from the boys. I will NOT recommend restaurant nor this Hotel (41 North degrees) to anyone. You pay for location (being New Yorkers we get) but for this "price point" ......... Not even close.

It's expensive but worth it! Perfect for a special occasion! This place is gorgeous and has a very nice upscale vibe. We went on a Tuesday night and arrived earlier than our scheduled reservation and they fit us right in. The drinks are pricey but nothing more than you would pay in a big city and with views like this you have to expect to pay a little more. What I was really impressed by was the food! We tried several things and my husband can't stop talking about the scallops. My favorite was the ceviche type of appetizer we had! Service was also excellent and no hit of snobbery at all (which I was slightly concerned about when I was deciding what to wear from my casual weekend gear). I will absolutely be back! Gorgeous place and excellent food! Even the owners of our bed and breakfast couldn't stop talking about their experience there just a week before while celebrating a birthday. Go for a splurge and try it....especially around sunset!

We just had my friends bachelorette party here. We arrived at 4pm and put in an order of baked bread, and 2 apps of Calamari....as well as drinks...The red sangria tastes like water with fruit chunks....the white sangria is much better. At 5pm, the calamari and bread were STILL not served. They never put it in. After i made a fuss they came out within 10 mins. I understand we are a table of 7, but we have all been in the restaurant business as workers before and are VERY easy going with service but my god it was SO SLOW. I ordered the lobster roll and was SO disappointed...for $24 i expect a beautiful nice big roll with lobster....ive gotten better lobster rolls at McDonalds for $7.99. i was crushed. It hurt because i recommended this place to the bride because of the stunning views. Thats the only thing that made us not walk out. With a $450 bill (drinks are $15 a piece!!) we thought the food and service would be much better :( Ive gone here numerous times and NEVER had an issue like this.

Went with my wife for Christmas dinner this past week. We were in Newport for the Holidays and decided to make reservations here a couple of months back. We made the reservations for 530p on Xmas day, but in reality, didn't need to as there were a family of 4 dining and some people at the bar. It was great to be in a good restaurant that was practically empty, with the pick of the tables over looking the water to then have a great Xmas dinner. The service was good and quick. We were seated right away with our coats being checked. We were quickly served water (often refilled) and got our wines within a few minutes of choosing. Our waiter was knowledgeable of his wines and also made good food recommendations for us to eat. For appetizer's, my wife had the Cesar salad, which she enjoyed and I had the 1/2 dozen oysters which were good, but not accompanied by the best condiments. More vinegars over cocktail sauce etc, but thats a personal preference for me, not a comment on the product served. For dinner, my wife ordered the chicken, which was very good and I got the Tuna, which was some of the best fish I have had. I eat fish a lot and this was very memorable. Our dessert was excellent, with my wife having the apple crisp and I had the mint chocolate dessert. Both very tasty and finished off a very good dining experience. Also, coffee was nice and we relaxed for a good half an hour before calling for the bill. We then went to the bar and ordered a few more drinks to round off the experience. We were very happy and it will be remembered for life! The atmosphere in the restaurant was obviously quiet at the time we went in, but from around 7p, people came in for a their dinner and it picked up. The views, lighting and music were great. Everything was really relaxed and aimed at giving an upscale, yet laid back vibe. We got a table in the back corner that had amazing views of the bridge coming in to Newport, as well as the perfect water and full view of the restaurant. It was a great place to go on Xmas day and if we ever go back to Newport for that time of the year, we would go back to this restaurant.

Meh- Parking is not worth the 30$ when 25ft down the road there is parking for 15$... we'll service started out by loosing the reservation which would have been fine if it wasn't our anniversary (which made me look stupid in front of my wife) Once we finally sat, it was like a game of who's who? Who the waiter who's going to take out order, who even works here. After 20 min of waiting our order was finally taken. We started off with calamari which was good if we wanted three pieces on a plate. Now the main course was good, we had the Surf and Turf which was a filet, lobster and king crap on mashed potatoes and garlic asparagus. Main course was cooked well.. Nothing too extraordinary but the food was good. However for 65$ I would have added a little more food to the main dish it looked a bit cheap.

Let me first say that we sat outside and the location/atmosphere is fantastic. I would definitely come here again for a drink. The views of the water are great and there is definitely a swanky, fun vibe to the bar area. Sadly, that's all this place is good for. I had the prawns for dinner and steamed spinach as a side. Neither were good. The shrimp were cooked well, but thumbs down on the flavor. The spinach had no taste at all. None. There was not even salt on the table to attempt to give it some flavor. The service was not good either. Definitely not worth the high prices at this restaurant.

Have you ever had a restaurant comp you $179.00 without asking? Last night was unique. This is a beautiful restaurant, a part of a Marina and hotel with super waterfront views. We arrived at 8:15 and were promptly seated. Drinks came with a reasonable wait, food was another story. The water served was not drinkable, with a strong chlorine smell and taste. When we asked, the waitress brought some filtered water that was okay. The food...there was no food! Food took until 10:00 to arrive, first weird salads and next entrees. My wife ordered roasted chicken. Her portion for $30.00 was tiny, a drumstick and small thigh, somehow no breast made it to her plate. Throughout the night our waitress apologized many times and a gentleman came by with his apologies a few times. They were nice and brought us a round of Patron (6 drinks that run $90.00) and took two entrees off of our bill without a request from us. The discount was $179.00 from a bill of about $400.00. Just imagine how bad they must have thought they did to reduce our bill by so much! Thanks for the discount but even for free, it was a such a bad meal. Food was not up to par and the wait ridiculous. I hope that changes will make this beautiful spot worth the cost someday.

Was a bit leery after reading other reviews but can't agree. Lovely atmosphere, very relaxing yet upscale. Very nice bar/lounge area with gas fireplace and well placed sofas/tabled. A bit odd was that the hostess did not have menus at the station. I got a menu from a wedding. But it was kinda humorous. Server attire did not fit the decor- jeans and blue shirts. Still service was good, meal was quite good from restaurant week limited menu. Complaints about small portions just tell you that they are looking for all you can eat and not a full experience.

  • Eugene D.

We,ll we thought we would give it another chance since we are staying in the marina which is still great. I can't report anything good about the restaurant. Food was ok, everything ala carte. The service was worse than ever. No one seems to be in charge; seems like a bunch of high school kids trying to pretend to wait on customers more interested in conversing with each other more than waiting on customers. 55 minutes to serve a course, no bread, no water refill, misplaced our check, couldn't find our credit cards, and the restaurant was less than half full! We complained to a brash waiter who suggested we start over and re order dinner! What a shame for what could be a great restaurant with a good setting.

Grill at 41 North has always been locally renowned, but now it has to live up to the national reputation put forth on the TODAY show. They are riding the wave of popularity. While we went here expecting to have a very romantic waterfront dinner, we also had to contend with bachelorette party central. The service was very good and the food was very good. A big drawback was that they charge for soda by the glass. It was mostly ice. The parking is also $20, but you can park for $10 or $15 across the street and easily walk. It's just an expensive dinner all around.

We went as 2 couples last week for restaurant week. First they charge to park in the lot $10 off season but they valet so when you leave you also feel obliged to give the valet a tip to basically walk 20 feet and bring your car to the front door. The place itself is stunning & beautiful to look at. The food a different story. The portions were not just small but extremely small. The steak was tasty enough but maybe 5 bites. My husband got the pork tenderloin. Again good favors but literally 3 small medallions the size of quarters and the Brussels sprouts were the leaves only. On top of that, the martinis were 16.00 each. I know the place is high end but a little too much. Final straw was the cup of tea I ordered to have with dessert - $5.50!!!!! For tea? Probably a cool place to go in season, have drink and enjoy the pricey view.

Was only here for a short time but I was in love with this place! A local we had met earlier in the day took my friend and I here because of the breathtaking views of the harbor. He was friends with the waiter at the front door so getting in wasn't an issue. Plus we got a personal introduction to him. Our local friend was also friends with one of the bartenders there so he specially made our drinks (shout out to Jose)! I thought the white theme they had going on was absolutely beautiful and timelessly classic. Everything looked so gorgeous as the sun set on a beautiful Newport day. I definitely will be coming back here if I ever make a trip back to Newport!

Just went to Restaurant Week with my friends and I am impressed! Like many other places during restaurant week, only a small handful of items are highlighted from the menu. But for college girls like us, we are NOT looking to spend $75+ for a good meal. I had the lobster and tomato bisque which I thought had a perfect proportion of both flavors. Then for the main entree everyone at the table had the filet mignon with the bernaise sauce, accompanied by grilled asparagus and wild mushrooms. It was one of the best filet mignon I have ever had, cooked to perfect temperature and sooo savory especially with the sauce. For dessert it was supposed to be cranberry cobbler with ginger ice cream but they apparently changed the menu and served us creme brulee instead. It was very sweet. I also had a glass of red sangria which is $8, but they don't put it on the menu so just ask the waiter. Great service, great view, great atmosphere for fine dining.

I will never be going back here. Let me start by saying the staff, especially our waitress Emily were all amazing. My boyfriend and I came here for his birthday dinner, and apparently its "against the brand to sing happy birthday," but they did it anyway, about 10 of them came singing over to the table, it was great. However, you definitely do not get what you pay for. Their portions are the tiniest I've ever seen, and I live in NY and we have some pretty ridiculous portions here. But what makes it even worse, is they have higher that NY prices, and tinier portions. The food itself was good, I ordered the rack of lamb ($45) and got 2 little lamb chops... AND NOTHING ELSE!!!! Thats it! No side, no veggies, salad...nothing! I couldn't believe it. My boyfriend got the surf n turf ($56). The filet minot was delicious, he got ONE shrimp...ONE!!! HALF a lobster tail, minute amount of crab and about 3 giant scoops of mashed potatoes. I couldn't believe it. They have a lot of nerve charing that amount of money for the lack of food they serve. For 2 apps, 2 entrees, 2 desserts, and a bottle of wine our bill was $275 before tip

I went to 41 North to celebrate my friend's birthday. Upon arrival, the valet attendant told me there were no parking spots; were only available for 41 North members. He told me of a parking lot nearby, which cost $30.00 to self-park, same as 41 North. I called the resturant informing we would be a bit late. Upon arrival, the hostess desk informed us that the "special" table that I requested was taken, so she took us to the outside deck where there was no light, so we had to wait until a table inside with a view was available. Once seated, it took 45 minutes to get drinks and bread. I complained to the manager; he apologized and made up for the "bad" experience with the resturant with complimentary wine and appetizer, and birthday cake.

Awful experience. Went for a drink on a Saturday night, thinking the decor and location would be fun. We sat at the bar for over 10 minutes before any bartender even looked our way, despite the fact it was not very crowded. The bartender had no idea what types of wines were available, as there was no wine list. Once we got our order, the bartender was really disorganized and poured Prosecco into a wine glass. Drinks were fine, nothing great, but the service kept getting worse. We decided to leave because the atmosphere was bad and it took forever to pay. The first bartender took our card but refused to run it in case there was a tab open for us. But instead of checking or taking our word for it, he just left with our card. We then had to search for the original bartender who took our order and he couldn't remember it. We then had to take him to find the other bartender with our card so they could work it out. Needless to say, this was disappointing, confusing, and time consuming. Don't forget: it wasn't even busy but the bartenders seemed extremely overwhelmed. Overall, a really disappointing experience because it seemed like it would be a fancy, nice place for a drink.

We have eaten here twice now. Both times the food an service was absolutely superb! We had the sushi appetizer - it was incredibly tasteful, fresh and delicious. My wife had the callous and I the fillet. Again - prepared to perfection! My wife loved the sauce on the scallops. The deserts were beyond belief! It was my wife's birthday, so we mentioned it at the end of the meal and they brought us a small sampler of truffle deserts that were just mouth watering. Total experience was completely wonderful!

Very disappointing. Location was the only thing this place has going for it. Food was sub par at best and service was terrible given the hefty price tag. Food came before our wine and every table around us was complaining about something. Worth having a drink at the bar but that's it.

Let me start by saying I have never taken the time to write a review of anything...ever. However, this was the single worst dining experience of my life. Please note, I am not yet 40, so this is not a 75 year old typing this. My group was 5 females under the age of 40. We were hoping for a very upscale dining experience. We were seated next to a table of about eighteen 21 year old females who were literally screaming and chanting while doing shots. In addition, the music was so loud that it was impossible to carry on a conversation. We waited 30 minutes prior to placing our drink order and then another 30 min before our drinks arrived (so, we sat for 1 hour listening to screaming women while not being able to really communicate with each other). We were served our dinner 1 1/2 hours after being seated and it was cold. We asked for the music to be turned down and for the table next to ours to please try and keep the chanting to a minimum to no avail. I am at the point in my life that I do not mind paying $52 for a steak (literally, a piece of meat on a plate. Not even a sprig of parsley to go with it. Seriously, cold meat on a plate. anything else on the side is extra). However, when I am paying that amount, I do not expect to be listening to a bachelorette party screaming beside me. I spoke with the manager who was sympathetic, but made no attempt to placate us other than offering a round of drinks when we were already leaving. It is an aesthetically beautiful establishment, so I will return for a beverage in the future. However, I will not be returning for dinner. Ever. I have a home in Newport and have spent every summer since I was an infant living in Newport, so I am very well acquainted with the other dining experiences Newport has to offer.

Extremely Disappointing. My family and I went for Father's day brunch today. Despite the restaurant being less than half full, the hostess refuses to accommodate a table for 6 people and made us sit at a table where we ended up eating our meals out of our laps. The food took an absurdly long amount of time to come out and was mediocre at best. The wait staff was confused, disorganized, clumsy, and unapologetic. After overpaying for a terrible bunch we proceeded to the parking lot where the valet was waiting at the our vehicle where the frat boy they hired as a valet was waiting to extort money from us despite the fact that we did not use his services nor was there any notice concerning self-parking. There are plenty of great places in Newport to go for a great meal - don't waste your time or your money at this place.

Let me start this with a little about us. We know Newport. We've been coming to Newport for 15+ years seasonally. We've stayed just about everywhere and have eaten everywhere in town. We are reasonably young 39 & 40 as I write this. This place is pretentious and overpriced. If you look like you belong and you're dressed appropriately - you will probably be okay with service and attitude from the staff. We've never had a problem with either, as a matter of fact, on every visit we've been extremely well cared for and drinks and food have arrived promptly. The food is good, not great, just good. There are better places to eat in Newport for sure. However, what brings us back is simple: the view and ambiance. As previous marina club members in FL, we love the marina atmosphere. The yachts are up close and there is not a better place to sip wine and watch the activity in the marina. My advice to you is try lunch or brunch - not dinner. Lunch will set you back at least $60 for two (a shared glass of wine and two lunch entrees) + tip. As for parking, park across the road on the corner of Brewer for half the price. As for what to wear - look nice! Dress to impress!

Recently dined outside here over Memorial Day weekend. While the food isn't anything to write home about, it was decent. Come here more for the "scene" and drinks near the water.
