WEEKEND UPDATE - Twin Willows revisited: We went to Narragansett last week for our annual summer week in Narragansett, and our very first dinner stop on Saturday night was Twin Willows - tried and true old faithful Twin Willows. THIS year we were extremely happy to learn that The Willows' deck is now dog friendly - this in and of itself allows me to give the place five stars this time around. So we brought along our faithful canine, Kady the Wheaten, and we happily sat on the deck in the almost cool dusk, facing the ocean (or bay - I always get that confused). I had a glass of my favorite Pinot Grigio and hubby had a lite beer. Kady had a bowl of ice water and then we ordered. For me, who was craving my annual clam cake fix, along with an unusual urge for Manhattan Clam Chowder (I normally prefer the clear, RI Chowder) had a large portion of each.. I accompanied this with a lovely spinach salad with a warm bacon dressing mmmmm - I got the small salad but immediately regretted not ordering the large - that's how delicious it was. My husband had a magnificent bowl of linguine a la vongole - (linguine served with a red sauce and a heapin' helpin' of freshly steamed little necks) and it was amazing. I shared my clam cakes with him and he shared the deliciously clammy goodness with me (and Kady chowed down on her favorite grain-free biscuits). We were all as happy as clams :-) and had no room for dessert. We left stuffed and happy, and the food was as as good as always - maybe even better - the Willows has a new chef!! The food was SO good and the place is SO reliable, we actually went back there again on Thursday night.

Twin Willows is one of those unexpected surprises. It is a hole in the wall tavern with very limited light, tightly fitting tables around a central bar, and no ambiance but boy do they have some ridiculous seafood. As far as I am concerned, it is the only place south of Maine to get fresh, perfectly cooked, melt in your mouth, steamed clams. Their baked stuffed lazy man lobster is to die for too. In a nutshell, not a great date place (unless you are hoping to get plastered at the bar) but an excellent, casual, summer after beach kind of place.

I am a visitor to the east coast from Chicago, so landing in Rhode Island was like seafood heaven. Fish EVERYWHERE. Lobster rolls, crab cakes, lobster...I made a goal to eat some form of seafood delight for every meal. In my journey, I fell in love with the Clam Cake. Part breading, part clam...a true delicacy in my book. I picked up half a dozen clam cakes from here twice in my visit, and my mouth yearns for them now as I write this review. Oh yeah, they make a mean salmon sandwich as well.

My brother, who lives in Wakefield, suggested this place for lunch today or I'd not have known it existed. My first visit, I enjoyed lunch Stuffed Filet of Sole, with mixed vegetables, mashed potatoes; and a Blue Moon served in a nice frosty glass. The food was very tasty, the portions were excellent, the service was very good. What else could anyone want from a pub atmosphere? If you're looking for table clothes, and waiters in black ties, this place isn't for you. If you're looking for good food, served in a friendly manner in a comfortable atmosphere, you won't want to miss this place.

All the food is fried. If it is my fried don't eat it. They do have a classic bowling game that we set a high score on. Outdoor seating. Overall it is average but nice people. Drinks are cheap. I am writing more because yelp requires it. Thanks.

Food was fine but the service was terrible. To be fair, we had a large party (with two high chairs), but we began to see even larger parties seated before us. When a friend asked the hostess if we would be seated soon, as larger parties were being seated (and at this point we had been waiting over 40 minutes), she gave a non-answer and muttered "you and your baby can wait" as she walked away. Once we were finally seated, the food took forever to come out. By the time the food came out we had been there over two hours. Those of us with little ones left with our food packed because it was getting late. Needless to say, will not be returning!

Ordered Little Necks that were ok, but salty. Clear chowder was lukewarm & had too much dill. Clamcakes we're undercooked - dough inside was raw in spots. Being a bar/restaurant, the noise level was a little high. The waitress provided prompt & courteous service.

We went in with a group of four on a Saturday night. We weren't greeted for 5 minutes and once we were sat down, nobody ever came to serve us. We walked out after 20 minutes. We didn't get to try the food and will never go back due to the lack of service.

Well tried it again they changed the menu for summer and must have hired a new chef. The large $18 lobster roll is now a hot dog bun which was the smaller petiet roll for less money ... they made it smaller but more expensive. The burgers we had were made incorrtly wrong ingredients lol .... someone needs to show the cook the descriptions lol. Were done for a while with this place.

Have been in a bunch of times during the last year...and I keep going back. Service is fast and friendly at the bar. A pretty wide menu with both pub fare and healthy dose of seafood. The portion size is big with the prices reasonable (not cheap...but good for the quality and quantity you get) The vibe aims for a clean comfortable local pub...and it hits the mark. I like this place.

We are local and go to Twin Willows regularly. Yes, the dining room can be loud, but the food is solid. It's completely untrue that "all the food is fried." Twin Willows offers much more than fried food. I had the salmon dinner this week and the salmon and the garlicky spinach were perfectly cooked. My stuffie appetizer was excellent. Recently, I have had a mushroom burger, spinach salad, clam cakes, and fish and chips. They were all very good. The beer selection is good Pat the bartender is a great guy who always provides a smile and excellent service. Some of the waitresses have worked there for years and bust their butts to make customers happy. The newly renovated bathrooms are a great improvement, and the deck bar is a fun place for a post-beach beer and some food. Twin Willows isn't perfect but it's more than good enough to keep us coming back.

Awful eating experience. Waited 30-35 minutes after being told we would have a 20 minute wait. It is loud in there. Very loud. French onion soup was satisfactory. Baked stuffed shrimp was awful. The stuffing was dry and crusty. I removed all of the stuffing and just ate the shrimp. The mashed potatoes were satisfactory. The vegetables were bland. What a disappointing meal. My husband had the clear clam chowder which he did not like and he said the fish and chips were just ok. The kids had cheeseburgers which they were satisfied with. It was definitely not a kid environment, at least not on a Saturday night. It is mainly a bar with uncomfortable, crowded seating.

Mixed feelings. I came here for lunch with my husband today, we walked in and sat at one of the tables near the bar. We then proceeded to wait 15 minutes to come to realize that no one was coming over to us to take our order. I had to get up and go to the bar and ask why, the bartender then proceeded to explain you had to go to the bar to order even if you sit at the tables. HUH? A courtesy would have been to maybe let us know that as you saw us sitting there the whole time with no drinks or food in front of us. Kinda rude. Anyway, after that a waitress came over to take our order. I got the corned beef Ruben, which was amazing! Probably the best I've ever had. Hence the mixed feelings.

Great place to grab drinks and dinner! Low prices, great food. Customer service is great, too. Highly recommend visiting if you're in the area. The deck is awesome in the summertime! Very pleased.

A necessary evil. Clam cakes not with a ton of clams. Chicken wings not 100% cooked through. Staff that's good and not attentive. I did like it though. The batter for the clam cakes was good. I wanted more clams, that's all. The wings good, Just wanted them cooked all the way through. Beer fine. Male manager / bar food runner was on top of things. Bar back watched tv to much. Women bartenders all good. Price was right. Bar pizza was great. I'll return but they need to up their game.

My wife's family comes here regularly when they are vacationing in Narragansett and the place does a good business. This was my third time here, pretty consistent experiences. We came on a Sunday night and it was hopping, entire parking lot full. Waited 30 min or so for a table for 10, not bad. Wife got the lobster roll and I got the buffalo chicken sandwich. My sandwich was just weird. Most of the best buffalo chicken sandwiches I've had are fried, although grilled is doable, but the chicken must be cooked perfect. This chicken was overdone, the blue cheese crumbles were overpowering and the ranch dressing was not a good mix. People need to realize that fresh blue cheese is strong so you don't need to pack it on for people to taste it. Too much and the entire dish gets sickening fast. Wife said her lobster roll wasn't very good and she was throwing up later, although I'm not one to claim food poisoning without solid proof. Probably just a stomach bug. In a town with few options for good food, I regret that we have to keep coming back to Twin Willows.

I've been going to the Willows on and off for the better part of 30 years now and there hasn't been a whole lot of change that I can discern. There were some structural renovations done to the interior in the past couple of years but even still - not really different. I got a call from a few friends to meet for a quick bite and a beer or two before the St Pattie's day weekend crowd overwhelmed the place. I ordered the Manhattan chowder with 3 clam cakes and a side of broccoli rabe. The chowder was average and left me a bit disappointed - but I'm not sure that I really expected any different. The clam cakes were a pleasant surprise. They were nice size and cooked well. The batter was spiced perfectly and there were even some nice, sizable pieces of clam - which isn't always the case as Rhode Islanders know. The broccoli rabe was cooked perfectly and was a nice side dish. I've actually been to the Willow's a several times in the two years since I've been back in RI. The steamers are usually very good - although I did have one bad batch last winter. No harm no foul - we sent those back and they were removed from our check. If you are there "in season" don't hesitate to grab an order and dig in. I haven't had one since the 90's, but the Mert Burger and Bill Burger were always favorites of mine; and I'm sure they are still good - I've seen them coming out of the kitchen. If you're local - you know the drill. If you're visiting our town from elsewhere, this is a fine spot to garner some of that local fare. Try the clam cakes, clear broth RI chowder, a lobster roll, steamers, stuffies....ask the people around you what they like. It's definitely a townie type of place and we usually don't bite - enjoy!

I still like the food at the Willows but they changed up the menu. Bad move. No more Steak Bombs. Might have been the most popular item on the menu. A lot of stuff missing from the old menu...so bummed. But the Lobster Roll increased by $1.00 and also increased in size from the hotdog bun to a split roll and it's huge! It tastes ok too. Sometimes the specials are a very nice treat i.e. the Ultimate Prime Rib Dip..oooooh very nice. I also like the Fried Fish (Fish and Chips) with the Fried Clams w/ bellies combination. Two of my favorite single menu items now combined.

Been visiting this place since 2007 - appx 2-3 times per month. They used to have some of the best fish and other dishes like nachos - good portions at reasonable prices. The owners sister worked parttime as a server - very nice and responsive. But after the renovation a few years ago things changed. Service slow and sometimes rude. Servings were much smaller with higher prices - a classic sign that the owners lost interest in running it. We finally stopped going when the owner asked us (4 of us) to vacate our table so she could seat a party of 11. We could "move to the bar". We had only been seated 30 min and just put in our food order. Other tables nearby had been there longer and finishing up so apparently we were in the way. Our server apologized and knew we were regs - but apparently the owner did not know or did not care. So we got our food to go and never returned. So the owners got their 11 customers and lost our 100 meals (4 x 25 visits) per year. Maybe her sister - the teacher - can teach the owners to do math.

When I was visiting Rhode Island, my friends and I went to this local restaurant for a late lunch. I was pretty happy with the food, although my native friends seemed to have a few negative comments while they were eating. Since they are in fact natives, I think they had some negative comments on the food menu changes. The service was good and the atmosphere was enjoyable. It was relatively busy and our food came out at an average pace. I ordered the Willows Chicken sandwich consisting of cheddar-jack, bacon, greens, ranch dressing, all on a ciabatta roll. I was pleased with my meal. My sandwich came with hand-cut fries and a pickle and was roughly $12 before tax/tip. My comrades ordered the Chicken Parmesan with mozzarella, basil, linguini, and marinara sauce and the other ordered the clam chowder (which seemed runnier than other chowders that I've seen) and a wrap. The food all tasted good to me and I was overall happy with my experience. The food mixed with an ocean view makes for a good meal.

Just visiting. Drove by and sign caught my eye. Lobster and steamers! ! Server is great very friendly. Stacy. Humm, steamers fresh nice portion but boring. Should steam with wine and spices. Also served with unsalted butter so i added salt and lemon. Lobster roll. Nice portion again. Just OK filling. Roll was hard and very dry. Fries were hot and yummy. Other food coming out looks good.

I love the willows, especially after their renovations. Definitely has a great local crowd, and for what it is-- I think the food is great. The only downside is that it's a little too pricey for it being the Willows after all. The bartenders are always friendly, and always attentive. I do know that in the fall/winter months they offer a $5 app special on a few select appetizers from 4-6pm. Definitely worth it!

I have been three times as of now and every visit is a new experiance with food. The first time I had a hamburger, typical nothing special but the fries seem to be hand-cut and are very tasty. On my second visit I was at the outside bar so I didn't have to wait 30+ mins. This time I choose on of the specials, pulled pork quesadilla. I have had a few varieties of these from other resturants before and this one I would say would be damn near the top. Up until now I would have given Twin Willows 4 stars but unfortunately this visit was the opposite. I was with a small group and we all had soup to start. Manhattan chowder, clear chowder, and frech onion soup. The Manhattan came out luke warm as if it was sitting for five or so minutes, the clear was so lemony it was un eatable. Both were sent back, the Manahattan probably receiving the microwave treatment, and the clear being exchanged for white (still was just OK). My french onion was on the low scale aswell but I suffered through it, the soup just wasn't that flavorfull. I had the chicken philly and it was shot in the dark but was a 3/5, just needed a more quality cheese. I will continue to go here because I love the beer selection and the service is great.

I really wanted to like Twin Willows. As a local to the South County area I had gone there WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY before my Yelping days. Honey & I were looking to go someplace new for lunch & just wanted to try something differnet. After driving around for 1/2 an hour, we decided TW was our place. We go in & sit at the bar. Menus put in front of us promptly...k, we are off to a good start! We order up some drinks, menu looks good, takes us a while to decide what to have because everything sounds good. There are probably 9 or 10 other people at the bar, no one at the tables that I can see. We place our order, I get a stuffie & the Bourbon Street Burger, Honey gets the Fish sandwich. The stuffie came out 1st, it was hot & delish!! Now as we are sitting & waiting for the rest we see the cook come out from the back. He is wearing a home made T shirt that says "Balls Deep" on it....WOW, tiny bit inappropriate! We get our food & try to erase that memory of his T shirt from our minds (we are not prudes AT ALL, but that is certainly not work attire!!!!) My burger is cooked perfectly, fries were a bit greasy. Honey liked his fish sandwich. We are asked how everything was, replied good & then were ignored...were not asked if we needed more drinks, were still ignored when we are done & crumpled up napkins are on our empty plates. Mind you, the bartender was speaking to another customer that was sitting RIGHT near us, and her boyfriend who had come in for lunch too. He was sitting a few stools down to the right of me. So we are smack dab in between the 2 people she keeps going back & forth talking to.....ignored, ignored, ignored. Un-flipping-believable! When she finally decided to ask if we were all set, she didn't even make eye contact. Handed us our check & said "thanks" as she walked away to go speak with boyfriend somemore. Needless to say she got a shitty tip. *******I know someone that works here & spoke to her about it. Apparently this girl works on Wednesdays only...so avoid Twin Willows on that day! I will go back & hope for better service, the food was good.

"The Willows" is famous for two things, the Lobster Roll and notoriously bad service. It can be kind of a madhouse in here 'round dinner time in the Summer. I've been kinda' bummed about the burgers lately (OK, for a couple of years now) since they stopped using a hand formed patty. The Mert Burger used to be my go to choice, best burger around, but not anymore. The Clam Cakes are often stellar, as long as you get them served up fresh and the Fish and Chips can be equally good. They serve the fish two ways, battered and with a breadcrumb crust, Tavern Style. Go with the latter. But my favorite dish is one I had today, the Scallop Roll. A light coating of the Tavern breadcrumb crust was the perfect crisp to the butter soft, fresh as can be, scallops. It didn't hurt that the scallops were spilled all over the plate, overfilling the hotdog bun by three or four times. Best meal yet, and I've been coming here for 20 years. They've also added Cottrell's Old Yankee to the taps, joining Harpoon Smithwicks, Newport Storm, ...its getting better.

Last year went to Twin Willows in July, with some friends, and although it took two hours to get our food, I thought it was just a fluke, and figured we would give it another try. The parking lot is always crowded, so thought it must have been one bad night. (But now I can confirm that it must be that there are no other places in town, because Twin Willows managed to provide an even WORSE dining experience this year!) Just went to Twin Willows with a group of friends on a Tuesday night. We were happy when we arrived, when the hostess said we could wait about 20 minutes for a table outside on the deck, or be seated right away inside. We opted for inside, because it was 8:00 p.m., and knew we had a limited time to eat, before heading back to relieve the babysitters. The drink order took about 15 minutes, and even one friend in the group, who waited an extra 10 minutes, had to remind the server what she ordered, only to be told "oh, yeah, we're out of that..". The party of ten ordered two appetizers, and three salads, which took exactly 59 minutes to arrive..uggh..One salad had no dressing, and the friend had to wait five minutes to get that. The wait for the actual entrees was so long, that two friends had to ask for theirs to go, once we had been sitting there 1 hour and forty five minutes!!!, (without any clue from the server when we might be getting our food). Once the entrees did arrive, the eight orders were delivered so sporadically, that half of the group, who wanted to be polite and wait for everyone to start eating, had to dig into cold pasta!. One friend ordered mashed potatoes, but was told, they were "out", so would have to substitute for baked potato or onion rings..One cheeseburger was delivered with bacon (bacon not ordered).. one clam dish had sand that could almost break a tooth.. It basically was the WORST service by far, for all ten people. People who have been to many restaurants, and who would forgive almost any slow service, if there had been at least ONE attempt from the staff to address that this was not the usual service to expect at Twin Willows. The restaurant was not even exceptionally full or busy. How can you be in the service industry, and not know that this kind of dining experience is unacceptable? It was difficult to have to pay the tip, already included in the bill, because of the size of our group. These were ten people that would normally overtip any server, that appeared to try their best to accommodate their customers, and make for a pleasant dining experience, These are ten people that will never come back to Twin Willows, and will tell all their friends to do the same!

Went for lunch mid-week during a recent vacation. The service was ok but did't stand out. My family enjoyed their burgers while I had a pretty good salmon sandwich that I would order again. I hear it's an institution but it seems better suited for a night time sorta place. All in all, I'd give it another shot.

You want stuffy, starched shirt, waiters in black ties kind of place - stay right the heck away from what we Narragansett folks affectionately call "the willows." You want a fantastic stuffie or perhaps the best lobtser roll in the state, an ice cold beer, good conversation and comaraderie, come on in. Opened the pool last night and thought that I should at least feed the buddy who helped me. He had never been to the willows so off we went. Greeted by the lovely and talented Nikki behind the bar (her second night on the job) and immediately had ice cold cocktails in front of us. She took our order and soon thereafter we were enjoy the outdated atmosphere (yes, the place could indeed use a facelift), the good food and the Sox game on several flat screen tv's. It's a pub with pub food. Expect that and yo9u will be more than satisfied. Stop by on St. Patrick's Day and get a $0.50 corned beef sandwich or the $5.95 corned beef and cabbage dinner. Can't beat it! Also, for whatever reason, the willows has one of the best chicken sandwiches around.

This seemed like your typical townie restaurant / pub. We were brought, of course, by someone from Narragansett who said the food was pretty good. For apps, we got the nachos and buffalo wings. The nachos were really good, everything was all evenly placed, not an empty chip on the plate! The buffalo wings weren't REALLY all that buffallo-ey. They're the ones with the spice cooked into the breading, so no sauce. Nonetheless, they were still pretty tasty and actually quite big. I definitely got the dud when it came to my meal. Everyone else really loved their food. I got... the meatballs and pasta. I don't know why, meatballs just sounded good at the time. They were pretty terrible, dry and unflavored. Like someone just rolled up some hamburg and cooked it. The sauce was OK though and the pasta was nice and al dente. My other peeps got a salad, which he said was very good. The steak tip sandwich (which I tasted and was AWESOME), and the chicken plate, teriyaki style which she liked a lot. So like I said, I got a dud, but the rest of the food here is pretty decent. If you're a tourist and looking for a place to try out, I wouldn't recommend this place or anything (check out Crazy Burger or some place cool like that), but it was still a-ok.

The burgers were really really really overcooked. The fries were cooked in very old oil. They were gross. The salmon was so salty it was inedible! The salad with steak was very small and had no taste at all. If you are hungry, drive right by this place and find somewhere else to eat. We had to stop on the way home to grab some dinner - truthfully a horrible meal. The waitress seemed preoccupied. The noise level was so loud that we couldn't even have a conversation at our table. Skip this place!

Been coming here for 2 summers. First time I've had a bad experience. From drinks without enough ice to the fact that serving 7 dinners over like 6 minutes, so the first meal was nearly cold before the last one was. Half the table got knives, the rest did without. A sad display of clueless service and badly prepared food. I won't be back.

There are two summertime RI staples I order almost whenever possible. Most of the time, these staples can be a heartbreaking letdown when they don't live up to their potential, but for those rare bites of glory, I keep at it. I'm talking about: 1. The lobster roll 2. Clam cakes (dunked in chowder) Both are positively perfect at Twin Willows. Butter-grilled New England bun heaped with meat, just enough mayo to bind, celery, onion, pepper. The cakes are clam-erific and humongous without being too dense. Sadly, the steamed lobsters have proved inconsistent on separate visits. Hey, it's not worth a damn if your lobsters are fresh off the boat at Point Judith when you cook that little beast until it transforms into lobster flavored chewing gum. Great back deck with a view. Inside is dim and trapped in 1978, but I like it. The pub food and 22 oz. beers hit the spot as a cap off to a day in lovely Narragansett.

The ambiance was cool, but the tuna BLT was drowning in mayo, and although we were sitting at the bar, it took a pretty long time for the check. I will give it another try with another waitress and a different meal selection. Not too shabby.

At the beginning of my visit, this place was destined for 5 stars. When I was served a flat, watery beer, the waitress had no problem hooking me up with a replacement beer for no cost. That was followed by a fantastic "stuffie". If you go here, you HAVE to get the stuffie. It is very tasty. Alas, my main course was just average. I had 6 clam cakes and a bowl of chowder. The good part is the cakes are massive. The bad part is they are super doughy and rather bland. Ditto with the chowder, which had few clams, but plenty of potatoes. So the stuffie and service: 5 stars. Clam cake and chowder: 3 stars Value: 4 or 5 stars. I'd definitely go back for the stuffie, but I'd also be sure to try another dish other than the clam cakes and chowder.

Dining area is dirty. Caked on food on the walls. Tables ate sticky and the floor doesn't look like it knows what a mop is. The food appears to be below average for a bar/pub. I had a burger which was alright but certainly not worth the $12 price. The fries were overcooked and tasted burnt. My wife had a chicken parm sandwich which was chicken fingers and tomato sauce on a roll. Also way overpriced at $12. There are many other restaurants in the area that would be better to go to.

Yup it is a townie place and you gotta love it. I am new to the area, but was told Twin Willows makes the best lobster roll. The natives were not wrong. Great Lobster Roll! Three of us went there for dinner on a Monday night. Cherly ordered Fish and Chips. It was a big portion. The fish was coated with a light batter nothing too greasy. Mark ordered the lobster roll and chowder. I stole a couple bites of the Lobster Roll, very tastey. Lobster meat was piled high and only lightly coated with mayo. (Always a plus in my book). I ordered the Philly Chicken wrap. I was completely surprised by how good it was. The chicken was flavorful and the cheese was melty and good. Twin Willows is a local bar. Nothing fancy just a nice place to have a pint. I hear that Thrusday-Saurday it is packed.

no question about it. If you want real, good food, Willows is it. The bar is almost as long as the building - which is pretty wide. There are some views out the back over Bonnet Shores, depending on the fog situation, the season (leaves ON or OFF of the trees) etc. Burgers are great - big & juicy and certainly more than enough. The fries are handmade and usually super greasy - which makes them that much more of a fantastic bite. Seafood is good there too, but when I think of great burgers in South County - Willows is it. Grab a pitcher of beer, a Billburger, and chill out watching the games.

Twin Willows is a New England pub close to URI's Bay Campus. It's lasted so long mainly because it's been affordable, it serves beer and it's low key. It attracts many students that live, work and go to school in this area. It's become a local landmark for the people who have stayed. Anyone that brings their children to a place that serves booze and expects a kid friendly atmosphere is deluding themselves. This is not saying that the staff is rude. They are not, they are usually quick and efficient and get anything you need. The bar here is huge and dark. The dining room which is smaller than the bar section has a bank of windows that emits light. Sitting in front of the windows during the day is the best idea if you have a hard time seeing in low level light areas. The Willows' burgers are a treat. The Mertburger has 2 lb. patties cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion and mayo. The seafood is good here, I don't usually eat it but I've had the calamari and the fish and chips. I usually eat a burger or sandwich. The reuben they occasionally serve as a special is delicious. If you are eating with someone who is picky there is a small but good assortment of food here. If you go often for lunch pick up the Lunch club card: M - F from 11 - 3 get a stamp for each of 5 lunches get the sixth free. I like the Willows. It's low key, a place that's easy to relax in. I also know if I want a leisurely attitude at the Willows I'd better go during the daytime when the bar is not as busy. In the summer there is a very pleasant patio in the back that usually catches a nice ocean breeze. I don't believe you can smoke on the patio. If you want some privacy go early and go during the weekdays. This is the type of place where you'd settle after a long day at work or a hot day at the beach. If you plan on going during a game or the weekend the bar will be crowded and loud. Not as loud as some bars but definitely animated. Know when to go. And know what you want. Do you want a local bar where you'd want to meet your buddies? Do you want a good lunch or dinner with a beer? Do you like a tavern like atmosphere? This is the place to go. Remember, Narragansett is a seasonal community. The winters here are definitely not as busy as the summers. The smart local knows the area and when to go out. Twin Willows takes reservations for large parties also.

Good beer. Nice view. Crappy set up. Definitely a townie place. Food is over priced for the quality. The fish and chips...ehhh HORRIBLE. Believe it or not, I could get better quality service and food from Applebees... definitely not saying much. The fries were inedible and burnt and the waitress had an awful, annoying voice (sorry). Definitely wont be stopping here again...there are better places to have a beer.

Good fish and chips. Tasty lobster, chowder, steamers and stuffiness. And a killer dirty grey goose martini. Nice place. Not 5 stars but good local bar. I eat here whenever I'm in town. Its a local favorite for a reason.

Twin Willows is good for two things: atmosphere and fish & chips. It's a locals bar and it's obvious that the last reviewer isn't a local. Eat at the bar, watch NESN, and enjoy.

If you are looking for a good solid seafood meal and plan on washing it down with a couple of beers, Twin Willows is your place to go. Based on the pictures on the walls, this place has been around for years. Can't really argue with the fact that when a place has been around in the same location for so long, they have to be doing something right. In this case, it is good seafood at an affordable price. The reason I cannot give "The Willows" a full five stars is that it isn't exactly a terrific, five star atmosphere. It is outdated inside (think 70's themed wood paneling) and the bathrooms have a bad odor. Despite this, it is a fun place to hang out and watch the game while eating good food. I frequent Twin Willows approximately twice a month.

Though I keep returning here year after year, The Willows leaves a lot to be desired. The food is hit or miss -- some of the seafood dishes (fried calamari, fried clams, etc) are good, but other things on the menu are to be avoided. Service is lackluster, though this doesn't bother me too much as 1. everyone working there is high-school or college age and 2. it's a greasy spoon, and expectations shouldn't be high. I do enjoy the vibe and locals-only crowd, as it's laid back and doesn't try to be anything fancy. If you're looking for an authentic, no-apologies Narragansett dining experience, this should be your destination. However, if you seek a better overall experience (hosting out of towners?) then head to Matunuck Oyster Bar.
