Had a wonderful dinner here! Short ribs with celery root purée, white asparagus, sautéed chard...omg...meat was fork tender and flavorful, purée was perfectly creamy and delish, veggies cooked perfectly. Side of brussel sprouts with bacon were crunchy and well-seasoned and mashed potatoes were yummy, too! Scallops with butternut squash purée, white beans and escarole...husband loved his dish, too! Other person in our party wanted a salad and they were very accommodating with putting ingredients in and taking others out. We sat outside which was really lovely and comfortable. Our waitress was nice and attentive and the rest of the waitstaff were nice, as well. Thought the prices were a little high, but not outrageous considering the quality and location.

Everything was great. Some things we tried in our party were calamari, clam chowder, lobster and shrimp spring rolls, yellowfin tuna, short ribs. Server was attentive and knowledgable. Would definitely recommend

Some of the worst service I've ever gotten at a restaurant. Not rude, but unattentive to the point of absurdity. I say this after receiving the similarly poor service in the four times I have been here. Each time, I was only able to get one drink because the waiter (or waitress) didn't come back to the table until we were finished with our food! Astonishingly enough I've returned here with friends thinking that the service can't be that bad EVERYTIME, but each time have left dissapointed. I don't consider myself a high maintenance guest. I've worked in a restaurant for 7 years, but when you are at a restaurant and there are only 3 tables seated, there is no excuse for poor service. The food is good, but not nearly good enough to make up for the rest of the experience. That's why I give it two stars instead of one. If you go, I'd recommend any of the pasta dishes; the pasta is fresh and excellent.

Had a very good first time experience at trio. Ordered the baked stuffed lobster it was very cooked and not dried out at all, very moist, came with white rice and green beans. Lots of seafood in the stuffing, shrimp and scallops. Our server Jess was very nice and attentive, couldn't have asked for a nicer experience. Would recommend this place to others. Nice dining room, large bar area, busy place on a Monday evening, however we were able to walk right in and get seated. Would suggest calling ahead for reservations on the weekend/busy times.

Great food! Half off left side of the menu on sundays. Bartender Jess was awesome and manager Micheal was more than accomodating

Pretty good food, a little on the pricey side. Hands down the best calamari I have had.

This was our first time at Trio's with a couple of friends with us to enjoy a good meal before the basketball game. The service was first rate. All our meals came out perfect, including my well done burger which was still moist and not dry. The dessert was a chocolate cake which was "excellent". Would highly recommend for a well deserved meal while visiting the area.

Food was really good. Lot's to choose from on the menu. Decent beer and wine list.

I have been to Trio a few times when surfing in the area, and after being in the RI brine, your palette is usually a little beaten down, so everything must be salted... ...except their pizzas. They are a great deal when you can find the half-price apps deal, otherwise they are overpriced. The service has been good in my three visits. The stuffies are small but pretty tasty, albeit bready. Burgers are solid. Beer is cold. Fries are very well done--extra crunchy and still potatoey---which is a word when most fries at most places are just terrible. Bar is full of hunting women and men it seems on the weekend. Who knew? Dates too...

Previously, I had only been to Trio for drinks. This past weekend was Valentine's Day weekend so I made reservations for Saturday night and was finally able to sample the full Trio experience. Made a reservation on-line and was seated in a prompt manner. The ambiance of Trio is fantastic. They successfully brought in the nautical theme without being tacky at all. Everything from the fireplace to the tables/chairs to the design of the bar is beautiful. For dinner we ordered fried calamari as an appetizer and I had the scallops for dinner while my date had the lobster mac and cheese. Her dish had plenty of lobster -- I was actually surprised at the amount they gave her. My scallop dish was small, yet the flavors they infused into the dish (sweetness) made my dinner very unique and not forgetful. Service was good, but not outstanding. Keep in mind the restaurant was literally packed due to Valentine celebrations. With that in mind, the service was well above average. The only reason I did not give Trio 5 stars was for the prices. Yes, it is a higher class restaurant in Narragansett and it is indeed part of the Newport restaurant Group. Still, it would have helped if the prices were a tad bit lower. I will return.

I enjoyed my meal at Trio. The restaurant was large and busy but not too loud, and was able to have a conversation without shouting. The mussels were very good, and the service was prompt and attentive without being overbearing. Although I have had better meals in Narragansett, Trio is a good option for those seeking a dining experience that's a step above a greasy spoon.

  • John W.

Ordered a series of appetizers. Mussels, calamari and meatballs. The meat was a nice mix of pork and veal. Everything else tasted like a salt lick mixed with seawater. Snobby waitress didn't help either. Not my cup of tea, asw they say

I like this place. Its a good addition to Narragansett, and the bar inside it pretty dope. I love the way this place is decorated and set up. It doesnt really feel like a Gansett bar. Its nice to have a place thats nice and clean, and adults can go (WAIT! did I just call myself an adult!???!!! Uh oh!) and get a glass of wine and sit out on the patio. The Food is decent, nothing to get all fidgety about, but it does the job and the staff is super friendly and tolerant of the nonsense that we put them through when there was 11 of us on the 4th of July weekend. (we were not acting very adult like at all.) Swing by, get a drink and some apps and you will be happy.

I went with a friend for drinks and apps in the bar, which is comfy & has nice lighting, a nice vibe. We were seated right away & saw a server right away. So far so good. Because I have heard so many mixed reviews of Trio, I was waiting for something bad to happen, but nothing did. We ordered three apps- steamed little necks, fried calamari & clam cakes and we ordered a pizza. The calamari was delicious, as were the crab cakes. The little necks were drowning in beans and broccoli rabe, which I found to be a bad combo. The pizza- clams casino- was really, really good. Nice thin crust, great flavor. I had two glasses of chardonnay and my friend had two martinis. Not a bad experience at all. The bill was about $100 with tip.

Very nice ambiance - pleasant decor. A good bar with good barmaid. The food is good but there is just something off with the service. From the managers to some of the staff, there is a bit of an attitude. Too bad - it could be a great place.

I liked the place. The waiter was most pleasant and patient with the two sillies that my friend and I were. For our appetizer, we chose the Mediterranean Chips n Dips. 'Twas a mouth-watering sea of baked pita chips, hummus, country olive tapenade, warm feta and artichokes. For dinner. we tried the pork chop and salmon over polenta (I believe). They were both delicious. She's like the wind that menu, always changin'. Everything was fresh and presented simply. The restaurant had a nice ambiance. Large bar area for gawking at the locals or the TVs, the dining area was comfortable, cozy and warm. I love that the staff was all dressed the same. It's those little, simple things that won't distract people from the food. Generally, the crowd consisted of 25-60ish peeps with a bent towards the 38+ crew. A fidgety, prickly boy of 8 or so years sat next to us with his parents. He was whiny and out of place. There's an Applebees in Wakefield, people! I recommend it. Parking was a breeze.

First time there. Very noisy and too open, no privacy. They didn't have the special that the waitress told us of and had to order something else. The desert we ordered was nothing like described. We ordered the bannana cake with maple walnut ice cream--what a dissapointing dessert. The cake was a cheap ready mix muffin topped with a scoop of ice cream that was so small we thought it was butter on top.

I've been to Trio a couple of times with my fiancee. The first time was when the place had only been open for about a month, and the warts were still showing. The place was packed and the staff seemed to be a tad overworked, so we weren't exactly overwhelmed by the attentiveness of the service. But the food was pretty good and the atmosphere was bustling and energetic, so we decided to give it a try several weeks later to see if things had calmed down a bit. On our next visit it definitely was not as crowded, and the service reflected this decrease in volume. There were still a lot of people there but it seemed like they had worked out most of the kinks. We had a good meal at a reasonable price, and isn't that what you go out to dinner for mainly, special occasions excepted? I would give Trio more stars, but I agree with the other reviewer that there is nothing about the food that pushes it over the top into the fantastic range. It's a solid restaurant, though, and I will definitely return when the mood strikes.

  • Vinny P.

Food was very good...but couldn't give it 5 stars cus the service needs work and prices on certain dishes are a little high...some portions could be a little bigger also for what they charge..don't mind paying as long as what I'm getting is worth the price...I'll try it one more time

Had a wonderful Valentine's date at Trio on Sat night. The atmosphere was romantic, and the meals were wonderful. We started with the "Fried Galilee Squid" or calamari. It was very good. For my entrée I ordered the Lobster Mac and Cheese and I must say it was delicious and they were very generous with the amount of lobster mixed throughout the macaroni. My date had the grilled scallops which were also very good, but small in portion size. Trio offers plenty of menu items to choose from to accommodate any taste. Portion sizes were decent, the only drawback is the high prices. Overall a great meal.

We had a lousy experience. The service was not great. The special lobster bisque tasted foul. The mussels were like spooning sand off the beach and mixing it with sea water. We sent the mussels back and let the server know we did not like the bisque. We asked if we could just get the chowder instead. She said yes but then didnt get it. When we asked she said "Oh I just took iit off the bill." I started to think something was not quite right with her because we had spoken about the soups and she said she would replace them with chowder. When the kids pasta came it was rigatoni and we asked for the raviolis. We said something about the error and she says "we dont have raviolis." Then she corrected herself, but said she didnt think i specified. We did say Raviolis but regardless, is it not the server's job to clarify the order and not to assume? She went and got the right dish. The manager did not visit us regardless of the food complaints. Oh and one last thing... The rolls that they serve must be frozen, some parts of the bread were still like ice. They cant even serve fresh bread? I would not recommend or return.

Honestly, we were surprised by some of the mixed reviews. We had two meals and seven different entrees, and we agreed that everything was delicious. We had great service and we liked the decor as well. The food was perfectly cooked... the chicken (this isn't easy, trust me), the steak, the pork chops, the pizza, the fish, I can go on and on... suffice it to say that I'll be savoring the bacon-wrapped filets and salmon in my dreams for a few weeks to come. There is one downside to the restaurant. The food isn't cheap, but ioho, it was worthwhile.

I live nearby and go to Trio quite often. I can honestly say I have never had a bad meal there, nor have I had bad service. I have been with large and small parties, sat at the bar, patio, dining room. It has always been enjoyable, and I think I have ordered just about everything on the menu over time. I find the food very solid and very consistent. I also appreciate the fact that they try and use local ingredients. I think it is a very solid restaurant that I would recommend without hesitation.

My new husband and I were very pleased with our experience at Trio. We stopped in a couple of days after our wedding early on a Monday night (5pm) and were seated immediately at a cute table in their main dining room. Our waitress Corrine was exceptional!!! She was incredibly sweet and very knowledgable of the menu. We were first very impressed with the drinks. My husband had a pineapple coprahina (his new favorite drink!!) and I had a mojito. Both were excellent and we didnt have to wait long for them. Oh, and they were strong, so watch out! The bread that came before the dinner was warm and delicious, and our water glasses were never empty. The menu was extensive, and we finally settled on the surf and turf (1.5 lb lobster & filet mignon) and the mushroom ravolini in a lobster creme sauce. Both were delicious!!!!!!! So pleased with our meals, and we didnt have to wait long. The surf and turf was very $$$, but the price was worth it. We mentioned that we had just been married and the waitress brought us dessert and coffee on the house! So sweet! We had some sort of fruit calzone that was delicious, very filling. Our whole experience was relaxed, romantic, and fun. Not an inexpensive place, but delicious food and a great atmosphere. Will certainly return.

Went here recently for lunch with my husband. I really like the atmosphere, seems like a really cool place. We sat outside on the deck, which I really liked, was a beautiful day. Food was good, not amazing. Service we had was pretty brutal. I couldn't tell you our servers name, as she never offered it up, but she seemed pretty busy, in the weeds the whole time we were there. I unfortunately made the mistake of not ordering the glass of wine I wanted when she was first over at our table. I hadn't realized it would quite a while before we saw her again. Anyway, overall a nice lunch. Atmosphere was good enough that I would go back. Seems like a good place to go have a drink at their outdoor deck bar.

Trio is the newest offering from the Newport Restaurant Group (sister restaurants are 22 Bowen, Waterman Grille, Castle Hill, etc.). Its location, at Narragansett Pier, is superb with a wonderful outdoor bar and comfy seating area. Sit on one of the couches, sip on one of their summer martinis, and peer down the street at sunset over the Atlantic ocean. Service has been mixed between great servers and others who treated us as an afterthought. I give Trio A+++ for atmosphere and a nice martini/summer cocktail menu (with a "trio"of mojito offerings) perfect for an afterwork or pre-dinner drink. Recently opened, I've been here several times now courtesy of a company expense account and wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt and several re-tries before I reviewed them. The food is fine, but there's no added oomph, "bam," or added aahh of satiation. For me, eating here is like making love without the climax...it's fun, BUT... For the money, I personally think there are much better local choices available, especially for the added calories. But hey, with the right company, it's always fun trying!

Where do I begin? It was Memorial Day evening and they appeared to be short-staffed. That being said, the service was RIDICULOUSLY slow. After a long wait, drink and food orders were taken (they were out of two of the entrees that we ordered despite it not yet being 8pm). Water never came so we asked for that and some bread - another long wait - and the waitress brought us four tiny pieces of bread (party of four) and promised that the kitchen was baking more bread and more would come. No more bread ever arrived and we waited...for an hour... for our dinner, during which time no one even came and offered to take an additional drink order. The food was decent but nothing special (only reason for the two stars). When it was nearing 10pm we asked to leave and just take the two deserts we had ordered as part of our three-course meal to go. They expressed confusion about putting creme brulee in a take-out box, but assured us they could substitute a different dessert. When we finally left the restaurant two hours after arriving, we were given only one dessert - creme brulee dumped like mashed turnips in a chinese take-out style-box...classy. Needless to say we won't be back.

Pasta was very oily, salad was good, big, too much dressing. Fish and chips was big, good.

I liked this place. The decor was really industrial and "hip." The service was STELLAR.. I forget our waitress's name but she was attentive and friendly and the girl recovered when she almost dumped her whole tray of drinks. Being a former server, I high five girlfriend for that one! The food... it was a mixed bag. The flat bread with the fig and arugula was absolutely amazing!! The pasta with meat sauce super yummy the meatball app...ehhhh and the flat iron steak entree..inedible...overcooked and had like a big old nasty vein in it...like I could look inside of it. BLECH! Will I be back...of course!! but only for lots of drinks and an assortment of flat breads!

We went to Trio yesterday with 3 other couples, but for my wife and I it was our first time at this establishment. We had a friendly and efficient wait person who took great care of our table from beginning to end. I had the Steak Frites and my wife had a shrimp and scallop dish over jasmine rice. We both really enjoyed our dinners, even though we thought the portion sizes were small when we first gazed at them, but we were completely satisfied with the flavors and our portion size when we finished our dinners. We will definitely be back to Trio in the near future.

Honestly don't know why it took me so long to finally go here to get something to eat. The GF and I went on a Sunday night (fyi they close up around 8 on a Sunday) and we had a good time. I'm a fan of the laid back atmosphere, we had a nice comfortable corner high top and could see into the kitchen area which is pretty open. Went around 6:30 and walked right in to be seated. We started with the Lobster spring rolls which were really good. They came out nice and hot and with two different dipping sauces. I was very happy with them. I tried to order a cocktail but ending up with a Narragansett beer instead, which was fine, I'll never turn down a Narragansett. My GF got the Gin Martini and really enjoyed it. Server convinced me to get the Shrimp and Scallops which came with a risotto and that I would not be disappointed. She was right. The food presentation was very nice only 'knock' I have against the dish was the serving was what I would consider small given the price but I left not feeling over-stuffed which is always a good feeling. GF got the lobster roll, which came with some fries. I had a bite, was good but I've had better lobster rolls elsewhere. Staff was attentive and food came out quickly. All in all, I'll be back. They have a fig pizza on the menu that sounded good that I want to try!

Several of us went for lunch and most of the dishes were good, but some were just not good at all. Fish and Chips - Crispy, good, flaky, moist. Great fries Steak Frites - Fries were thick, not crunchy. Meat was chewy and tough Stuffed sole - Good, delicate flavor....very small portion Burger - very well done, very good marinate, a winner Rigatoni Bolognese - Good, tasty, not as good as others, but not bad. Service was good and attentive, not great but good.

Simply Amazing! Everything we ordered was delicious. Veal meatballs for an app is a must. I had claims cooked with broccoli Rob and white Canelli beans which was cooked perfectly. My son had the fillet mignon and was in heaven. The small criticism I do have is the food came out a little too quickly.

We sat at the bar on a busy Saturday night. Both of the bartenders were a wealth of information and had great suggestions based on the right questions they asked. We both had the Soup du Jour and the spring pasta appetizer. Combined, they were the perfect meal. The linguine is made in house and tastes it. The soup - a roasted red pepper corn bisque was unbelievable. Highly recommended

My husband and I stopped in today for apps and drinks and were so pleasantly surprised at the food and service. The bread is amazing and the calamari was tiny and tender, and delicious although there were a few tentacles, which I prefer not to have. The chopped salad was fresh, with terrific dressing, and loaded with veggies, cranberries, tiny sliced potatoes and cucumbers delicious. The waitress, Alysia, could not have been more solicitous, letting us take our time, linger over drinks before ordering, splitting a second glass of wine for us, and just being lovely. It was a spur of the moment decision to go, but we will be back, for sure.

We were looking for a fine dining establishment in the area to celebrate our anniversary. This isn't it. My fault, I should have done more research. The cocktails and appetizers were served promptly, in fact so promptly I almost told our server to slow down a little as we wanted to enjoy our dinner. As it turned out, i didn't have to say anything because it took an eternity for our entrees to arrive. For appetizers we shared some lobster-shrimp spring rolls. The crustaceans were somewhat scare, but the two dipping sauces provided some zing. A $12 appetizer could come with more lobster and shrimp. I had a caesar salad. No complaints, but nothing special. On to the entrees. I had pork chops which were dried out and accompanied by equally dried out vegetables. The "peach barbecue sauce" on top of the chops was more Open Pit than anything else. I didn't detect much peach flavor. My partner had the filet. It was 8 oz. for $38. This price may be acceptable in a fine steak house, but Trio is far from that. That said, my partner enjoyed the piece of meat. Dessert was creme brûlée accompanied by two poppy seed cookies. It was the best element of the meal. Dinner for two, with one cocktail each, including tax and tip, was $70 per person. I have no problem paying that much. This was a special occasion and I was prepared for an expensive meal. My problem is that the meal we had wasn't even close to worth its cost.

Always great service, always awesome for my kids. Chef takes allergies seriously and personally came out to reassure me on my order for my daughter. Gluten-Dairy allergy was accommodated no problem. The prosciutto and fig pizza is awesome, as well as cheese platter. Def a must when we're in town.

My family had planned to go here for a Birthday. Using Trio's mobile site, I had looked up the hours of operation and planned to go. That day, we drove about 50 miles only to find out that the hours listed on the restaurants mobile site were in fact wrong, and it was not open. I reached out to Trio regarding this issue and never got a response, the website also remains incorrect. Call ahead if you go to confirm hours, otherwise you'll probably have to go somewhere else because it's closed.

Excellent every time - Drinks - grapefruit negroni went down all too easy, limoncello vodka drink was a tad sweet for me but my friend liked it. The girls loved their Pinot - nothing negative. Apps - the Fig & Prosciutto pizza is amazing, I would say this could be top 3 of all time. Meatballs are soft and fall apart with the touch of a fork, tomato sauce was a little bland, but it let the flavor of the meatball shine through. Shrimp & Grits (recommended to us by Marc at Chop House in Wakefield) were off the chain. Hands down best grits I've had and perfect pairing for the nicely seasoned jumbos. Entrees - my SIL said her sole was great, just didn't have enough punch in the sauce for a wow. Filet from my BIL was cooked perfectly. Bolognese pasta was a big hit with my wife. I opted for the special Lamb Chops with charred tomatoes & asparagus over faro. Chops were great, tomatoes awesome - I think I just don't like faro. Too tough of a little grain for me, but overall the dish was excellent. Dessert - donut balls, get them now! And order another to eat when the first is done in 10 seconds. Espresso cocktails were spot on, great night cap. A must visit - this group knows what they're doing. All of their establishments have excellent service, great decor and comfortable environments. I go here every couple weeks when in Rhode Island.

This is our second time back to Trio. Last time was maybe 6 months ago. We made our reservations through OpenTable and that went off without a hitch. The decor is laid back and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. Noise level was subdued, even pleasant. For starters we shared an order of calamari and an order of their meatballs. The calamari was cooked well and not in the least bit chewy. The meatballs were delicious and the sauce was outstanding...so good, in fact, that we asked the waitress to leave the plate so we could sop up the sauce with the bread. For main courses...my wife had the Steak Frites, daughter had the Salmon with quinoa, and I hade the linguine with clam sauce. Wife and daughter loved their meals. The Steak was ordered medium rare and was right on target. Flavor was wonderful. The truffle potatoes were unusual but very tasty. My daughter reports that her salmon was excellent (that's what she ordered last time and she was eager to have it again). My pasta came al dente and the clams were excellent. My only complaint was that felt the dish was too small and the clam shells and garnish had to be cleared away before I could get to the pasta. We didn't have dessert as we had a Gregg's raspberry and coconut cake at home waiting for us. Our waitress was warm and friendly and very helpful. Service was quick but we did not feel rushed in the least. Definitely a keeper.

Fantastic Dinner! My family of 4 recently had dinner at Trio and I would contend that it was one of the best dinners, if not the best dinner we have ever had. The food was all fresh and delicious. The entire restaurant if family friendly especially the Chid Menu. I look forward to visiting again.

Very average food for a place that claims to have great food, not worth going to. Would rather go to coast guard house or Spain while in narragansett. Ordered oysters which were solid oysters, no complainants and were presented well. Then ordered the Walters chicken sandwich and chicken Marsala which was undercooked and raw. The manager was average and not very considerate considering the thousands of dollars in which our family spends at Newport restaurant groups restaurants each summer. Disappointed to say the least. Take a 5 minute drive and go to Spain if narragansett.

I had dinner here with my parents. My salmon dish wih roast potatoes was excellent. My Parents reported enjoying there dushes ewuslly. The calmari appetizer was excellent. The service was superb. The were great with accommodating my dad's low salt needs and coordination with the chef. Certainly warrants a return trip. Salud!

The food is just okay, it's not bad by any means but I love seafood and my fish left me with the feeling of wanting something else. You can't beat the ambiance, of course. The pizza, especially the fig is TO.DIE.FOR. I would honestly go back just for that and I heard that on Sunday evenings, it is 50% off!

Atmosphere was incredible, very modern and clean, nice open kitchen. Sat at the bar and bartender Brian was top notch, great personality, great suggestions, started off with the antipasti which was delicious, then got the bolognese which was excellent full of flavor, and for desert the brownie was great as well, great beer and broad wine selection. Definitely will return soon!

One of my favorite places in the area. They really do a great job here. Staff is always knowledgeable and pleasant. Went here again for drinks and apps at the bar. Consistently good good food. For apps I highly recommend the trio meatball. The grilled bread with it hits the spot.

I had heard good things about Trio, but for some reason had never been there before last week. It was on my restaurant week "hit list" so when another friend said the same thing, a few of us headed over for the restaurant week menu. It turns out that on Wednesday nights, all entrees are $17.95, so as good as the special menu looked, it was three orders of filet mignon. The service was outstanding. Our waitress was over the top friendly and attentive as well as knowledgeable in answering our questions. We started of with a fig and prosciutto pizza which was very different and very very delicious. It was a great mix of salty and sweet that I would order again without a second thought. The filet was cooked perfectly as ordered and was melt in your mouth tender meaty goodness. I requested that they replace the side of baby vegetables with the Brussels sprouts, shallots and bacon which was a great decision on my part because they were awesome. I'm glad I finally tried Trio and I'm sure I'll be back.

Planned a dinner at Trio for a large group of 16 of us. The service, atmosphere, wine, and food were AMAZING. Planning dinners for large groups isn't always easy but Trio had something incredible for everyone. The manager and our waitress were perfect and helpful. We were so, so happy with our experience there.

We ate at Trio last night, a place we have eaten at many times over the years [Narragansett Town Beach is a favorite of ours], we got in without a reservation [at the tall bar tables] and it was mostly as we remembered, the food was good if the service was a little slower on the night. There were minor inconveniences [the only IPA on draft was out, spring rolls were cooked not fresh] but in general the food was good [calamari as good as always, burger good, pepperoni pizza pleased my son, linguine with clams was cleaned up and my daughter enjoyed her fish and chips]. It is an enjoyable atmosphere with mostly good food and is right in downtown Narragansett.

The perfect place to stop before or after a trip to the beach. The outdoor seating area (partially covered) is an ideal place for al fresco dining. We enjoy eating tapas style. On our most recent visit, the spinach salad, mussels in a coconut curry sauce, crab cakes, chili-lime shrimp, and flatbread pizza were our choices. They also have a nice children's menu that includes healthy options and is quite reasonably priced. Altogether, a great option for everything from date night to dinner with friends or family. There are cheaper and funkier places to go, but none that offer this perfect blend of good food, outdoor dining, and friendly service. We'll be back soon!

Another great dinner with the fam. Grilled salmon and Brussels sprouts. ( ok fine - I had some bread ... & a cocktail). Delicious meal. Daughter had swordfish and lentils (for the 2nd time this week) and hubby had the pork chop special with baked beans and broccoli rabe. Rave reviews from all. Thank you Kiara for the outstanding service ... yet again!

Well, we're here. All 6 of us, for a nice pre holiday lunch. Hours above say it's open. It's closed. We drove from providence. I enjoyed my last meal here and thought that it would be a good place to take friends. I can't say that these friends would want to come back at this point. Off we go to find some random place to eat since we're already in south county. Maybe update the hours? Very disappointed.

Fall special... every Wednesday when everything on the entree menu is $17.95 or less. Flat Iron Steak, Scallops, or Swordfish. Of course, I visited on a Wednesday. :) Amazing price for the quality food. I had the FILET MIGNON grilled filet, mashed potatoes, baby vegetables, bordelaise. My friend had NY SIRLOIN- grilled, Brussels sprouts, shallots + bacon, mashed potatoes, house-made steak sauce, onion strings.

I have been here several times, and for some reason forgotten to post a review. Went here with my wife for dinner. Place is very busy, even for the off season. We sat near the area where they cook the food. (This can be good or bad depending) The kitchen staff were rushing to keep up with the orders seemingly well. I know this because I was pointed towards the kitchen. As I was talking with my wife, I heard commotion in the back. One cook had gotten into an argument with another cook. He seemed like he was ready to throw down right there on the spot. (Free entertainment.. Yaaay) The cook (his name was Keith, or Pete.. Not 100%) was dropping f'bombs on his coworkers. My first reaction was thinking it to be rather Jr High school, but funny. But then as it progressed, I found him to be irritating enough to the point that I wanted to stuff his punk @ss in an oven myself. I think if the owner was in earshot of this, somebody would have lost a job. The meal though, stellar. Chicken Marsala, Beef Bolognaise, a Lobster roll and a Trio salad. Never a dissapointment. The atmosphere is always pleasant IMO and the staff themselves always professional. I know I'll be returning there. (Hopefully reccess will be out then)

My wife and I went for an early dinner on a warm evening in late May. The staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was casual and lively. We had a delicious fig and prosciutto pizza as an appetizer. My wife had the salad special and I had the Sunset Farm Burger. We loved the food, the service, and the outdoor seating, and plan to return soon. Though it's away from the ocean a bit, the restaurant still gives you that beach town feel. I highly recommend the place.

We were venturing to turtle soup on a beautiful Sunday. We could not find a parking space so we decided to try trio. We got a spot in their lot no problem. We had drinks and did not eat but saw some amazing dinners travel by. Great atmosphere and service. We will be back!

This restaurant is massive -- many side rooms and a large bar area. Great for big family gatherings/ group dinners. Our waitress was very friendly and bantered with us, made recommendations. I ordered the cioppino with linguine rather than the grilled bread and it surpassed my expectations. The tomato broth was delicious, flavorful and fresh. The seafood was plentiful and the linguine a great compliment to the dish. It was a large portion, but I still ate it up it was too good to go to waste. Would definitely go back for the cioppino alone.

I have been to Trio only twice and was impressed both times. The second time I went, I easily made a reservation on a Saturday night and had no wait when we arrived. It was such a great atmosphere and not as busy since it was the early winter and this restaurant is right by the beach. This is probably the best time of year to head down here for dinner! Great food, service and drinks. I had a frozen grape martini and the gemelli pasta dish which was fantastic. For appetizers, we had the antipasto plate and some calamari. These were also absolutely delicious. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone of any age. The staff is attentive and very personable. Trio is definitely a Rhode Island gem!!!

Went for the first time yesterday. I have nothing but the highest praise for this restaurant. The staff is unfailingly courteous, friendly and helpful. The interior decor is very warm and inviting. We ate outside and were comfortable in the extreme. The occasional rain even added a bit of charm to the experience. The food was nothing less than superb. My friend's pan seared salmon was perfect, and my grilled marinated pork was absolutely delicious. The side dishes were perfect accompaniments. My dessert -- crema catalana -- was simply ethereally delicious. It was wonderful and I'll go again. And again, and again, and again...

Went on last day of restaurant week; did not order from that menu, instead opted for their off season 1/2 price apps at the bar. Had one of their multiple pizza offerings, fig, pancetta and goat cheese with fresh arugula; simply outstanding. Also little necks zuppa, wanted spoon to get all the broth. Found a nice Sunday afternoon spot for just apps(lounge only)and drinks.....oh, the little necks came with a bit of rabe with beans....great dish

Breaking bread with family & friends is always a wonderful experience. Trio brought us together at one table to enjoy each other's company. They found room for 7 with no reservation on a busy night. Jess our waitress was the BEST! She assisted the teens with great food selections and patience. Clean plate club all the way around the table with no left over boxes needed. Yes, kudos to making us feel welcome and totally stuffed.

I went to Trio this weekend with some friends, and was not disappointed. I had some oysters and shrimp cocktail for an appetizer. You could tell the quality and freshness of both. For my entree, I had swordfish with creamy lentils and squash. This was probably the most perfectly cooked swordfish I've had - and I love seafood. Too often swordfish is overcooked and dried out. Trio did it perfectly - tender, moist and it just flaked apart. The items in the dish created a well-rounded and complimentary flavor pallet. Other people in the group ordered swordfish as well, salmon and scallops. Having tried each, everything was delicious. The waitstaff was prompt and polite. I highly recommend Trio, and will be going back in the future!

This place is ok. The price you pay for food is not the quality you get at all. If you want a good experience and good food, go to Spains of Narragansett. The only thing I think thats good here is the hot chocolate and that was a thing I got last year.

My husband and I stopped here on a Saturday evening to use a gift card from the Newport restaurant group. We were pleased to find that we were able to get seated a little before 6, instead of our reservation time which was after 7! I ordered the red sangria and thought it was pretty good, better than what you would get at an Applebee's type place! My husband wanted a Long Island Iced Tea but company policy is to not serve drinks with more than 3 alcoholic beverages. So he got a Jack & Coke which was good, pretty strong. For meals I had a Kingston hamburger which was cooked to my liking & my husband got pasta with vodka sauce. It was very tasty. Dessert we split the chocolate truffle cake. Strongly recommend splitting this, very delicious but rich.

Great Service, beautiful day on the outside patio, however I was a bit disappointed cuz the food was average for how nice this restaurant really is and the price. We ordered the margarita pizza not that great and have had better, the antipasto which was good the best thing was the stuffies very small but best we have ever had. I think I am giving a four star cuz it was lovely sitting on the patio on a beautiful day

A great restaurant! The management has this place running like a clock. Staff is always friendly and attentive. They have so many great meals to offer. Beautifully decorated with a local feel to it. The wait staff works as a team so you are served quickly and they clear the table as soon as you're done. They have a super deal on Sundays with half price appetizers and wood fired pizza. The appetizers are awesome, the muscles and little neck dishes are amazing with a nice broth with toasted bread. Calamari is delicious, and the antipasto is made with great Italian cheeses, chunk salami and prosciutto, served on a cutting board. Sundays you can make a meal out of several appetizers and it's like a fine tapas restaurant. Love this place.

This restaurant group is fabulous. It isn't cheap but you typically leave feeling like you got good value for your money. Atmosphere and devote in their restaurants is the best you'll get just about anywhere. Service was ok, not great. We were at the bar and found ourselves without a drink for a while, too long at times. We went for a mozzarella making class and had dinner before. Chicken Marsala was insane great, maybe the best I've ever had. Portion was enough that my wife and if could share without being "full", worked great. Class was great. Chef was a great guy and a good teacher. Left me feel more impressed with the caliber of staff there. Ok, so only 4 stars???? Would have given 5 but there were issues. The place attracts locals, go figure. But, they were seriously annoying and one of the smashed a glass of booze all over the bar and some onto my wife. Other than cleaning it up NO ONE GAVE A SHIT that my wife was affected. Really?!?!? Blew me away how the manager or bartender said nothing to her - really unacceptable.... So, great place, but not perfect. Maybe some customer management training is called for.

Trio has much improved over the past few years. The service is great. We were most impressed when the chef came to our table to explain the delay in getting our crab cakes. He was not pleased with what it looked like and when he put the thermometer in it was not the correct temperature so he wouldn't serve it. I thought that was a great touch of customer service. Plus it was not the waitresses fault for the delay, as being as server myself, we often get blamed. Delicious chopped salad as well!! We will be back.

This is the latest in my exploration of the restaurants of South County. *whistles* The THINGS they did to scallops, oh my. I got a dish of scallops over a corn and leek chowder, with fingerling potatoes and these roast tomatoes that exploded with fabulousness when you ate them. These were some of the best, freshest, scallops I have ever eaten - and I've eaten ones straight from the boat. The corn and leek chowder - really more of a corn puree with leek bits - was the perfect complement to the scallops. If I hadn't been looking respectable, I'd have licked the plate - and I thought about it anyway. My companion got the barbeque soy glazed salmon. The salmon was good, though not as spectacular as my scallops, but it came with a sun-dried tomato vinaigrette that was... that was a Thing. It was a paste, not really what I'd have expected for a vinaigrette, but so good I'd eat it off a spoon. Or a brick.

I came here for dinner the other day and was pleased for the most part. For my drink I got the red sangria, which was a little too sweet for me. And I like sweet. We got the Harvest salad, calamari, and scallops for appetizers. All of them were delicious! The salad was crisp and flavorful. The calamari came with roasted red pepper which really complimented the calamari. The scallops themselves were good, and the sweet corn puree they came on top of was even better! For our main course we got the margherite pizza, which was alright. It was not enough fresh mozzarella and too much regular mozzarella. We got the chocolate crunch bars for dessert and it was great! Chocolate mousse on top of a chocolate-cookie like base. I wish I could have gotten seconds! Overall the service, atmosphere, and food were pretty great!

I have been to Trio many times this past summer when I was in Narragansett and never had a bad meal. The dining room is busy but very nice and the service has always been great. Food is excellent. Pizza and burgers are great along with the fish, pork and they always have nice specials. Would highly recommend.

Very nice interior with ample outside seating as well. Good sized menu with main focus on seafood(although walls adorned with Italian art). Has a full kids menu as well including a 3 course meal including grapes and cheese and desert. Asked the waitress for recommendations and she recommended the shrimp and grits appetizer. I didn't love it, just too much going on in it(bacon mushrooms) but my wife fully enjoyed. I had the swordfish simply grilled, a bit to dry for me, but my wife loved the scallops. Very good wine and beer list a plus. Very nice spot to bring the whole family for high quality dining.

If I could give zero stars, this evenings meal deserved it. Mother's Day and dinner of two orders of local fish and chips was so dry it was not eaten. The other order of Haddock was equally dry and took over one hour for us to actually be recognized looking for anyone to check on our food. The calamari app. Came dry to the point of crumbling. The amount of grease left one of our family ill. The waitress was very kind and said she was sorry for the wait and condition of the food and it was due to the kitchen being slammed. Our check was adjusted due to the food not being eaten. We have eaten here for all our special occasions and made reservation for 6 this time we waited 1.35 minutes to get out reserved table. This was so unhappy instead of love and laughter for me the Mom, the conversation was nothing but what was wrong. And that was Everything. I see my children seldom , please don't spoil any precious time eating here. It's not the memories to remember.

Upon parking the in neighboring Établissement qui sert des repas aux finances, and browsing the menu posted on the poorly lit window, my older gentleman and I gasped with fear, finding out that the entirety of entrées offered were the leg of frogs prepared in so many ways that Bubba from Forrest Gump would be put the shame. Searching for a life-rope, I peered through my hands, which were curled into make-shift binoculars around my eyes and there, at the distant other side of the street, 15 Kingstown Road, was Trio. Quick! Man! I grabbed my old guy, and dragged him across the street, skipping all the way. Trotting up the steps and through the door, we were greeted by a young lassie who I imagined to be from a Grimm's Brother's fairytale, the protagonist by virtue of her ringlets of blonde hair which framed her Cheshire smile. We followed her to a back dining rooms, all the while enjoying the views along the voyage. A large bar, with a collection of shiny spirit bottles that would make the perfect xylophone orchestra. An open kitchen, equipped with busy chefs and a handsome expeditor. We were neatly tucked, my gentleman and I, into a booth with a dim lit wall lamp and a real-flame tea light in the center of the table, with a salt shaker to the left, and a pepper shaker to my right. Now being a snob of spices, I would have preferred a miniature pepper mill, but I suppose I would have had to have settled for butterflied-frog leg's in a sea-snail jus. An enthusiastic young man, who called himself Cory, appeared at our tableside. Pausing the story I was telling, I turned to Cory and obliged his request to hydrate me, by asking for a club soda with a lemon and orange wedge. The older gentleman I was with, then added that he would have the same, with four shakes of Angostura Bitters, Cory gathered the wine glasses, which were preset on the table, and disappeared. Within moments we were sipping, and awaiting six littlenecks. At this time entrees were decided upon, and Cory returned as if our internal clocks had been synced for this occasion. My old man ordered the Heirloom Tomato Salad for us to share, and The Market Garden. I ordered the Ciopino without the bread and a side of whichever vegetable was easily accessible to compliment the stew. I also asked for a pour of Chilean Pinot Noir, and I felt a little sorry that I had not mentioned this before the aforementioned glass had been banished. The pinot noir was a modest 9 dollars, I believe, which mirrored the pour. What was funny, was that, my empty wine glass returned, was placed, and a full-serving carafe was presented and poured. I like this, all wine glasses are different, the carafe ensures a proper percentage of liquid. The house wines are 6.50 and the most expensive was 12.50, I say this wincing my eyes, which assists my memory in visualizing the menu. You could also look on the website, as it provides such information. Merely pennies when it comes to the irreverent world of one's own taste-buds. I ordered the wine by the country, Cory, quickly confirmed the label name, without looking, which meant that he was good. I like to think of wines by their countries because gimmicky names irk me, and haunt each sip. For instance, the name of this wine was Cono Sur; I find that unpalatable. Though to be honest, it was a perfect wine for the Ciopino. bright, semi-bittersweet berry, subtle tannin, not offensive. The salad which was divided into two plates, was more than generous. It was as if they had snuck to my house, and plucked the tomatoes from my very heirloom plants, that my grandfather's father had planted with seeds he had saved from his father's father. I added a dash of salt, which I first shook into the palm of my left hand, and pinched with the fingers of my right, to prevent an excessive seasoning. I forwent the pepper. The food arrived timely, hot, and again, generous. Flawless. As a modest consumer, and there more for the company, I nibbled at the fennel fronds, laced in local shellfish nage. My old man, jabbed his for into my plate, and if it had been any other soul in the world, this would not have been appropriate. In fact, I would have even eaten the Heirloom Tomato Salad off of a shared plate, but sweet Cory insisted upon properly portioning it. I try not to be a pest, so a went along with the endeavor. So in as little words as possible, my presented plate, spoke for itself. Cory's "How is everything" was welcomed by a smile, which I presented between sips, of saffron-fennel frond fondness... The Market Garden's centerpiece was a sweet potato, or maybe even a summer yam! Sliced on the bias.. Who does not love a spud on the bias? Surrounded by split-sprouts from Brussels. Brilliant. The coffee was no French press, but hot and sealed the evening nicely. I also enjoyed the photographs on the walls and the Campari poster separating the men's and women's wash-closets. See you soon ménage-a-toise!

This restaurant felt pretty hip. Started off the night with the black skillet mussels appetizer. It was unfortunately a bit disappointing as the mussels were all very small and the broth lacked any of the garlic, chourico and fresh herbs it promised. There was however a generous amount of the mustard. Take a pass. The Lobster Tortelloni on the other hand was decadent! Every bite of lobster with the mushroom tortelloni married well with the sauce. The sauce also worked well with the peppery kick of the arugula. The tortelloni could've used maybe another minute or two in boiling water to soften up the pasta a bit. But maybe they wanted it a bit chewy for texture? Overall, I'd go back for the Lobster Tortelloni!

I am shocked that I have not written a review for this place before! I've been a bunch of times over the past three years or so. Although it signifies a more "developed" Narragansett in my eyes, I cannot complain about good food and drinks with a great view. I've been here with both family and friends and enjoyed the experience each time. The outdoor seating has a beachy feel without being right on the water. At this point in the game, I cannot recall my exact meals from last summer. I will update this review later this week though because I know I will end up here.

Since my husband and I had a party to go to out in Narragansett (a gorgeous coastal town in southern Rhode Island) this past Memorial Day weekend, we vowed to have dinner at a new-to-us Narragansett restaurant, if only to take advantage of the fact we were in an area we hardly go to! It didn't take much research to figure out Trio was the place to go in Narragansett. Trio is what I would describe as a "nice" restaurant- not too fancy but certainly not totally casual. It features a variety of favorites, including pastas, seafood, steaks, grilled pizzas, salads and burgers. What I liked about Trio off the bat is I noticed that they had a special vegetarian and gluten-free menu online. Unfortunately, their online menus are not updated because the two items I wanted to get (penne with pink vodka sauce and their "harvest" salad) were not on their actual menu. Still, I got over the initial disappointment pretty quickly since there are still plenty of vegetarian options. My husband and I ordered a mix of small plates and apps to come out all at once for our meals. Our pleasant waitress took our order and promised a basket of bread and butter to come out soon. I am not exaggerating when I say our entire order came out in less than five minutes. In fact, we were shocked and kind of disappointed everything came out so fast! They brought us our food before our bread was brought to the table! In all honesty, we felt kind of rushed. I ordered a side of macaroni and cheese which was very tasty. The sauce was perfectly seasoned and the pasta was nicely al dente. I also ordered their heirloom tomato and mozzarella salad. The tomatoes were flavorless and mushy, and the scarcity of balsamic dressing almost made me ask for more. Unfortunately, the whole salad lacked in flavor. The fries were good, but a little overcooked. I also had a preconceived notion of what I would order for dessert given the online menu, but the actual dessert menu was different from the online menu. I ended up ordering their chocolate brownie with peanut butter ganache and salted caramel gelato. The presentation was great- I tried to eat the three components of the dish (the whipped cream, gelato, and brownie) all at once with three spoons. . . It didn't work out so well though. . . anyway, I have to say the brownie was excellent, but the tiny gelato scoop was almost insulting to my ice-cream loving ways! It was equal to about two spoonful of ice cream, which is totally not enough or the sizeable brownie. I always like to eat a bite of brownie topped with some ice cream, but as you can probably guess, I ran out of ice cream way before the brownie was done! I loved the peanut butter ganache on the brownie, but wish it was warmed up a bit. Despite what seems like a less than stellar review, I would be more than happy to go back to Trio soon. I just think I need to try other items on the menu, like their black bean burger, which sounded delicious!

We have had dinner at Trio about six times and the food and service has always been very good to excellent. Our favorite has been the mushroom tortellini with limoncello sauce and lobster, but we have thoroughly enjoyed several other menu items.

The food was delicious and the staff was wonderful. I have a gluten allergy and they were so accommodating to me. The chef prepared my dish separately and served it to me himself to assure me it was prepared gluten free. I really appreciated the extra effort they put in and how nice they were about it. Great place and the drinks were great too!!

My husband and I went to Trio for lunch over a month ago on a Saturday and it was pleasant, food was great. We went back again last night (Sunday) for dinner and it was a huge disappointment. We were being seated in a back dining area where a large party was dining (very loud) and it was a bit chilly due to the ceiling fans overhead going at full speed. I asked if we could move to a different area and the young lady said she had to go back to the front podium to ask if it was ok. Really? You would think I asked for a kidney by the look she gave me. She came back saying it was ok to move to another dining area. After looking over the menu, we were disappointed because the items we'd had on our first visit weren't there and most of what was on the menu wasn't anything to write home about and pricey. Our rolls were brought, and I have to agree with a previous review, they were hard/stale. We order our meals. They came with a side of rice and green beans. Neither of us wanted the green beans so my husband asked for rice and mashed potatoes. He made a joke about having two starches for sides. I asked for rice and roasted corn. The waitress repeated our order back to us and it was correct. Somehow, the walk from the table to the computer where she enters the orders caused her to develop amnesia. Another server brought our meals. My husband didn't get rice, just mashed potatoes. I didn't get rice, but did get the green beans with the corn. When the waitress came to check on us I asked why I got the green beans instead of the rice and she said she thought I wanted the corn instead of the rice. How does someone go from repeating what you say you want to assuming you meant something else? I said never mind, not going to get into it over rice. After that, she acted like she wanted nothing to do with us. The only saving grace about all of this was we had a gift card and it didn't cost us anything for the over-priced, pretentious, disappointing experience.

Was at Trio last evening as I am on many Friday evenings and decided to change things up a bit in keeping with my new 2011 attitude. Dinner was 6 BLue Point CT oysters with a tasty (read light and zingy but not so overpowering so as to take away from the sweet flavor of the oysters) mignonette then the anitpasto, which consists of "assorted cured meats, vegatable, olives and cheese." Damn, that was a good choice. Along with only two (count 'em, two) glasses of Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc over the course of the evening. Delightful. Although I must admit, several patrons would love to see Teddy, the bartender who has something like 7 kids, back in the fold.

This is a great spot to grab a bite right near Narragansett beach, and despite our nincompoop of a waitress, I'm a huge fan. We went here last night for an early dinner while trying to take in the beautiful day we were having. We were able to get a table outdoors, though availability was extremely limited by about 6 pm. Trust me, it would be worth your time for an outside table if you find yourself in the position of waiting. We started with the soup sampler that came with Trio's chowah and their soup of the day. Both were fantastic. My husband got their fish and chips which were fabulous, and my Atlantic salmon was delish! Our waitress was awful, but hearing the servers nearby, I have to say she was the exception rather than the rule.

So, we're in Narragansett for our grown up annual Beach Week in the Pier and we wanted to give Trio another try. We had been there as someone's guest three years ago and we remembered it to be a decent experience. We didn't have a reservation, but it was a week night, and although this place is always crowded, both inside and out on their lovely outdoor patio, we got seated immediately. Our waitress brought us our drinks (pinot grigio for me and the usual lite beer for hubby). I ordered the 1 1/4 lb lobster, and my husband ordered the seafood stew that was supposed to be something like a cioppino. We didn't order apps because this was going to be a really fattening week for us, so we tried our best to be "good". We did start with salads, and they were perfect. We got blue cheese dressing (on the side) and it was as good a dressing as I use to get in the 60's at an old Providence restaurant which is probably now gone. The dressing was rich, creamy and thick and it was studded with huge chunks of blue cheese - which made me happy (since I didn't get an appetizer!!) First for my lobster, which came with jasmine rice and green beans. I personally don't have anything against jasmine rice - I just really don't think it goes with a nice New England "lobsta," I asked if I could substitute the spinach for the rice and was told that would be fine. When my lobster arrived, it was accompanied by jasmine rice and spinach!! Oh well. I wasn't in the mood for discussing such things - after all, it was a beautiful summer night, and I would be fine with the lobster and spinach, which were delightful, delectable and delicious. A fresher lobster I've never eaten. Even the tamale inside was sweet. I have to say, though, that this lobster was the smallest lobster I have ever eaten (also). But the deliciousness and freshness of the lobster made up for it. So I was fine with my meal - more than fine - I was happy - and I am a firm believer that more is not necessarily better. Meanwhile my husband's dish came, and it was a bowl of broth studded with a few pieces of shellfish and a piece of salmon, which was the catch of the day. He was disappointed because it didn't look like the dish that was served several years ago to our dinner hosts,. Theirs' were chock full of shell fish - even a huge lobster tail - but the menu this year did not say lobster tail,, and so I think he got what he ordered. I tasted the broth and it was fabulous. He said his dish was OK. But he rarely says anything is "to die for" so I figured it was good. We decided to share a dessert and although he wanted healthy sorbet, I wanted decadence. We ordered a banana cake that was supposed to be served with warm butter scotch sauce and a scoop of ice cream. The banana cake came, and it did have a drizzle of the butter scotch sauce and teensy scoop of vanilla ice cream. I was dreaming of a large slice of banana cake, oozing warm thick butter scotch sauce - you see, when it comes to sticky sweet stuff, I am a firm believer that more is definitely better!!) We shared the tiny mound and thought it to be less than a wow. It was "OK" but at $8 for the teeny dessert it might have been just a tad overpriced. Overall the food was good, the servings were small, the prices were what you would expect from a nice restaurant at the beach ($100 for two, one wine, one beer and one teensy dessert - with tax and tip). The service was not excellent, nor was it poor. It could have been better, I would still go back there, and I am giving Trio four points. BTW Trio stands for Chops, Pasta and Seafood. That is the trio of foods they specialize in.

Great food, vibe and great live music. To all that complain about the service... You are in Narragansett... Slow down and enjoy the scene.

I had really high expectations for Trio. I checked out all the restaurants in the area, and settled on Trio to be our first Narragansett dining experience. Lesson learned: don't set your expectations too high. The drink menu was nice but most of the drinks, as they read off the menue, weren't as good as they could be. For example, two good ingredients that made sense together and a third that was a little off, or something that made me move on down the list. My dining companion had the Narragansett Cider - which was great, and he loved. I should have got that one. The appetizer was excellent - lobster and shrimp spring roles. Very nicely plated, and delicious. I couldn't see any lobster pieces, but I'll trust they were in there. For my entree, I ordered linguini and clams, and opted for the gluten-free pasta. I was disappointed when I received Penne and Clams (it's just not the same, you know?), and further so when I ate the pasta. Granted that gluten-free has a different texture, and cooks longer or differently, but my pasta was clumped together and tasted over-cooked. The waitress was very nice about it and offered a complimentary dessert, which was excellent (Creme Brulee, gluten free). The service was a little slow - they were full but not slammed, perhaps a server was missing. We dined on a cool late-April night, and the restaurant was really, really, really warm. By the time we left, I couldn't wait to get out. That said, I would definitely give Trio another try next time I'm in the area.

What a great spot to go after a day at the beach! After many years of going to Narragansett beach, it wasn't until I asked my friend from here for a dinner recommendation that I'd heard of it. Trio is SO close to the beach, and we lucked out with parking right out front! Great indoor/outdoor options; the outdoor patio was so nice and I was very delighted at how comfy the outdoor chairs were (usually patio furniture and comfy are not mutually exclusive). Great drink and wine selection! Decent prices for both food and drink, especially being so close to the beach. The lobster roll was a fantastic choice, as was my boyfriend's clam & bacon pizza I took a bite out of (AND was my friend's fish and chips.......ok ok I was hungry!!!). Service was pretty good as well; overall a great experience and the perfect end to the perfect beach day. I will be back!!!

I loved this place! I went on a random Wednesday around 4:30 after we went to the Liberty Distillery. I ordered the Pan Seared Georges Bank Scallops, corn puree, asparagus, fingerling potato and leeks. and the boy got the New York Sirloin, 14 oz. steak, saute spinach, whipped potatoes, crispy onion ring with red wine veal reduction. Both where so delicious and I would wish I lived closer to Trio because I would be here at least once a week! Loved the meal the server was great. I hope to go back again!

The wife and I had appetizers on a Friday night after the drive down from Boston. Chowder was good as was the calamari. Service was good efficient and friendly. The place was very busy and a bit on the noisy side but it was a Friday night after all.

Had dinner in the lounge. I like the lounge very much, comfortable seats and a pleasant atmosphere. The menu was enticing, and I started with a bowl of cucumber-tomato soup that was pretty good. Oh, and they serve very nice bread, but stay away from the awful herbed olive oil concoction they pour, and go for good ol' butter instead. Funny thing, the waitress told me that the oil was infused with "chill-A", like the South American country. I think she meant "chill-E" but whatever, she was sweet and did a good enough job. Damn, I rambling right now, but after 6 beers, I don't really care. Anyway, the entree I got was grilled salmon with kale and fingerling potatoes. Yes the friggin' "E" belongs at the end of potato when it's plural, thank you very much Dan Quayle. So, salmon was cooked beautifully, and the kale was a bit too rough for my liking. My lovely and sexy wife had the penne ala vodka or whatever it was ala vodka with grilled chicken. She liked it, but I don't care at all for that vodka sauce abomination. No self-respecting Italian (of which I'm half) would ever put vodka in a sauce. Sorry, but I can't stand it. My drink was ok. I ordered a Dark & Stormy, which is Gosling's Dark Rum and ginger beer. I don't think the bartender really knew what he/she was doing, as it wasn't mixed when it was served, and the glass was filled to the very tippytop so my efforts to stir the damn thing only caused me to spill some down the glass. I don't like wasting my drink, or being forced to be so careful when I want to drink. Yeah, kinda nitpicky but don't make me work to enjoy a damn cocktail! Service was ok. There was some preppy couple sitting next to us that must have been related to the pope or something, as our waitress and half the others on shift spent all their time chatting with Prince Charming, and Princess Too-Much-Makeup. I don't get what the deal was with them, but please people, let's show some professionalism. All in all, pretty good, minus a few minor missteps here and there. I'd go back, but with a bit of an eye on what I order.

My boyfriend and I went here for dinner on the 3rd of July. Busy day in Naragansett! It wasn't as busy in the restaurant (thankfully!) and we were seated right away. We had the meatball trio for an appetizer which was very good... althought if there was no sauce they would be a little dry. I had the chicken marsala and it was delicious! My boyfriend had the Linguini and Clams. He said it was really good but the clams were a little overcooked. I really enjoyed the outdoor dining atmospher and our waiter was very pleasant and attentive. I would definitely go back again. So far it's OK... but I'd like to try some other dishes to give it a better rating!

Solid menu with a good selection of fresh fish. Good bar setting. Great for a casual dinner. Owners own several restaurants in the area including 22 Bowens and the Mouring in Newport,RI.

Fantastic experience! Called late in the afternoon when in the area and completely expected a "sorry we can't help" when I asked for a table for 6. I was pleasantly surprised when the person on the phone said 6:30 was fine. ( I called around 5 ). We arrived on time, table was ready right next to the fireplace, which pleased my wife, as we just came from two hours of hockey practice with the kids. Anyway, my wife, sister and I split appetizers. We had the calamari, flat bread meatballs and trio chowder. All were perfectly prepared and delicious. The staff asked if we wanted the apps all at the same time, which is not always asked at other places, but assumed not. The calamari was sensational and well spiced. The meatballs were not heavily breaded, but well balanced. The marinara sauce is spectacular. Only thing missing was a check in from the host, but being as this was only my second time here, it may not be their thing to do. Kids were happy and liked their pasta and pizzas as well. Needless to say, as locals, we will be back ! Well done ! Keep it up !

Pretty much everything about this experience was average. Nothing stood out as particularly good or bad. The menu sounded good, but the execution was fair. Our cocktails were served no where near cold enough and were, again, average. Definitely overpriced for what you get, but I think that's probably the norm for the area. Out waitress was very nice & the outdoor patio was just what we were looking for.

Trio excels in the areas where so many restaurants fall short yet they inexplicably fall short in areas most place get right. The deor could not be better, the ambiance in near perfect, great location and, most importantly, the food is always good. These are the areas where most restaurants struggle. Where they go wrong is 1) the service - new bartneders and servers everytime I am in here and it results in predictable problems from slow service, clueless waiters and waitresses standing around gabbing while others are weeded etc but my #2) is the one I can not understand. Why, when the food is so consistantly good (I have had many entree's, app's and pizza's all very good) why in the world do they serve crappy rolls that are toasted and half stale?!?! How about a nice basket of Italian bread?? It is a real head scratcher!! For me the food is most important and Trio scores here. The ambiance and setting make up for the lackluster service and whacky stale rolls.

This was our second time[date night w/o the kids] we went to Trio. Last year my wife's dinner was amazing and mine not so much, but we liked the outdoor seating/view of the Coast Guard House so we decided to give it another shot. It was very good. Started with drinks [see aforementioned no kids]--nice Sam Summer Ale draft and my wife had an Absolut tonic that was literally in a water glass. Ordered littlenecks on the halfshell and they were perfect..served freezing cold with a beer overlooking Narragansett got 4 stars right there. Calamari was really good, but not amazing. Still on my clam high i got the clams casino pizza which stated whole belly clams..they weren't--they were chopped strips. The pie was great but at Marco's in Branford, CT, they schuck and serve whole belly clams fresh daily on their pies and I thought that's what is was. Good not great. Wife got the lobster tortellini and she scored the meal of the night again. It was extremely good and went really well together. We had a blast and will be back next year.

...this is a review for a meal I had in August 2013 fancy looking spot that strives to be more than what it is....but if Bill Parcells came here - he'd say something like "A restaurant is what it's food tastes like."...so in other words...it's ok. The wife and I started off the with the Roasted Beets - i've had beets and goat cheese (i'm sorry - "chevere") together, but never with a "soil" of pumpernickel. While the plate was not as filled as I would have liked it to be, the flavors produced were unique. I could have done without the pumpernickel, but the wife liked it -- and I did appreciate the uniqueness of the flavors. ...i was looking forward to the entrees. The wife got the sea bass (special of the night) and I got the Simply Grilled Salmon. it was good - but a bit of letdown for me as I guess I expected more flavor from both dishes. Maybe the salmon i got just wasn't "fresh" enough. Who knows. For dessert - I got some peanut butter/chocolate tart with sea salt on it. Awful. Honestly - it was too salty. Honestly - this thing could've had so much potential...but way too salty., The wife had a creme brulee...which was good. It was safe. At the end - I enjoyed the decor, taking the wife out for the night minus the kids...but the food was just ok. I simply remember the dessert for its saltiness. Would I come back if i were in the neighborhood - maybe. Look, it's "safe". There is something on here for everybody. It's not like you'll hate the food. And it's a nice place for a meal with a group of people in a cozy decor where food presentation gets an "A"...but the flavor was lacking...at least for me.

I ate here once and that was it for me. I had seen the building being built, it looked nice, it looked promising! Was I wrong or what? It was pretty expensive for the quality!! I have NO problem paying a lot for food so long as it is worth it and I couldn't have made it better myself. One thing I despise is OVERPAYING FOR SUB PAR FOOD!!! I am a "foodie" I admit- but I despise when someone charges 'foodie' prices for uhhh applebees!!!! Shame!!! I am STILL mad about the price vs food quality/taste. Roasted root veggies were flavorless, soggy and horrible. Burger was mediocre. Salad was well- less than stellar. Pricing as it is, sorry but will not waste my money again for a re-try. I wonder if those writing "excellent food" have some sort of ties, that's how bad the experience was.

Went to Trio with a friend I was visiting yesterday. I loved the atmosphere and the menu was definitely impressive. We had the calamari which was delicious. However, we were completely appalled to watch one of the managers working to help the servers and she was NOT wearing a hat or anything to cover her hair. In fact, she was flinging her shoulder length blond hair all over as she was handling the freshly prepared plates to then give to the servers. I'm sure someone found a hair in their pizza last night!! Bottom line: if you are working with food, wear a hat or scarf around your head. I would like to go back again but only if I know my food will not be covered in hair!!

A lovely dining experience. I want to go back now! From the decor, to the staff, to the excellent food, Trio is truly a triple threat in the most wonderful way. My fiance and I took an excursion to Narragansett from Providence to sample the dinner fare in hopes that Trio would be our destination for our rehearsal dinner in the Fall. We had spontaneously popped in a year before to have lunch after finding our reception venue down the block, and found the food and atmosphere very nice. I placed a reservation through OpenTable and made note that we were considering the restaurant for our rehearsal dinner. Our server and the manager, John, went out of their way to provide an excellent dining experience, including a lovely added bonus of a sample hors d'oeuvres that we absolutely loved. The bread was hot, the chowder delicious (not overly creamy, which was nice, but chock full of clams and flavor) and the entrees were out of this world. I had their stuffed chicken leg and my fiance the meatloaf. This is approachable food done up to the nines. In fact we both commented on how "real" the food tasted; something familiar to your own kitchen, but with a lovely, upscale twist. After our Gelato dessert, we perused the room we would potentially use for the event, and the lovely adjoining terrace. This is the perfect ambiance, service and cuisine for our guests. We have yet to finalize the reservation, but I can say with utmost certainty that Trio is a restaurant worth driving out of your way to experience. I guarantee you'll want to return again and again. UPDATE: Through no fault of the fabulous staff, we are not having our rehearsal dinner here. We had some rather unpleasant exchanges with their Special Event Sales person. Had we been able to deal with the manager, it would have been a go. Sorry Trio, but you lost our special event business, and our event recommendation. But, we will still eat there.

This restaurant does not seem as good as it used to be. Service was OK. My wife had salmon and I had linguini with clams. We enjoyed the entrees. At the end we ordered a strawberry shortcake. The bisquit was still frozen and uncooked. When I told the waitress that the bisquit was frozen and uncooked she said it was not a bisquit but was shortbread. So it was raw, frozen, and uncooked shortbread. It tasted strange. We were not charged for it. Overall we noticed a substantial reduction in portion sizes since our last visit. Overall it was disappointing.
