I started going to Oak Hill tavern in 2007 and would arrange business meetings so I could get a meal there. The food was always surprisingly good and well priced. My last visit was on 1-1-2015 and the bar was mildly busy. Bar seating was 3/4 full, but most tables were empty. We ordered beers, waters and wings. Here's what I found lacking: The popcorn was empty (petty? maybe but it was 4:30 in the afternoon. Not 11:30 right before closing. I'm a simple man and the popcorn is a draw for me). The waters took longer than necessary but beers took way too long. One of my friends joked "are the wings going to be apps for the beers". The wings were some cold, some warm and none hot . They must have been sitting around in the kitchen and been reheated in a microwave. Two bad visits in a row is too many.

I hadn't been here in years but I went the other day. The drinks were a reasonable price and the stag seemed nice. There was a live band (more for an older crowd) playing that sounded amazing! This is definitely a place to go for a few beers with friends.

The BBQ Dinner was great. Large portion of chicken and pork BBQ at a great price with corn on the cob and mashed potatoes on the side. I left full and happy. They have a great selection of beer as well. I haven't had a chance to go on the weekend for the entertainment , but they always have something going on there.

Went here are a long day of filming, 7 of us total. We walked in to some of the Worst Live Music I've ever heard and a "Seat Yourself" Sign. Not wanting our ears to bleed we headed out to the outside deck. After waiting a few minutes we sent someone inside to see if there was service to the deck. There was not. We were effing hungry so we ventured back inside to the wailing accompanied by an out of tune guitar. We sat for over 10 minutes before a Waitress came over. We first wanted a round of water and to look at the menu. They must have had to bring the water up stairs in buckets ala Training sessions in Kung Fu Movies because it took 10-15 minutes to get Water. Meanwhile our ears were continuously assaulted by the worst excuse for music. Seriously a cat screaming in heat has more musical ability. If you see "Bill and Gabby" listed on the sign outside bring am ice pick to stab into your ears. If we weren't so fucking hungry we probably would have left. While waiting for our order to be taken we witnessed a Waitress throwing place settings on a table. Once our order was taken we were ignored for 33 minutes until our food was ready. Thankfully the "performance" had ended and the ear bleeding stopped. Our food came out with a whole new disposition. Cherry, attentive and joking with us. The food was really good, everyone liked what they got but I don't think I'd ever go back again. My thought is the Wait Staff was hiding from the Terrible Music. I don't blame them but its their job to make the customer's experience a good one. Put in some ear plugs and give us some fucking service. Also, Management screen your live acts. Seriously, holy shit they were bad.

Stopped for a quick lunch. Was pretty good. Hummus was excellent. Corn Chowder was bland. Chicken Wings were excellent.

Stopped in at Oak Hill after some light shopping in NK. I hadn't been there in more than a decade but it didn't seem to have changed much at all. I started with a cup of chowder which was slightly above your average fair but nothing to write home about. It was piping hot - like fresh out of the microwave hot - which was okay since the temperature outside was one of those negative degree with the wind chill kind of days. My friend and I split our orders - French dip and a fish sandwich. The French dip was the superior of the two but both were again pretty standard bar food offerings with nothing to send them over the top or make you want to go back. I'd recommend Oak Hill for a few drinks with friends or a quick bar food meal. It's a place that's probably better suited for the locals crowd than someone looking for the next great tavern feast or profound new twist on an old favorite. A refresh of the menu is probably in order.

We stopped by for a late lunch over the weekend. Started off with tasty free popcorn (hard to mess that up), but sadly that was the hilight of the meal. We shared a bunch of appetizers; grilled pizza which was limp and soggy, chicken tenders which were cooked to death, fries that were fine, a mug of chili and stuffie were both just average. Service was a bit slow, drinks went unfilled despite the place being rather empty. The other odd thing was for a biker bar there was no music playing? Very quet inside at least mid-afternoon when we went. Prices were good, inside looked really fun, but I doubt we would return to eat.

I used to like this place. Walked in tonight and the sign said, "Seat Yourself". We found a seat that hadn't been cleared yet. We waited approximately 15 minutes before someone came over to clear the table although she only partially cleared the table. After waiting another 5 minutes, I approached the hostess stand and asked the same girl who cleared the table when someone might come over to clear the rest of the table. She sneered at me and told me, "In a second". Waited a little longer and still nothing. After talking to my husband we decided to leave and on my way out I mentioned to another waitress what happened. She said she was sorry (very casually) and then proceeded on her way. We've been here many times, but I will not ever be returning. Disappointing.

This place is was never really good. But it's gotten worse. N.E. Clam chowder was bland and tasteless, quite unpleasant in consistency and color. When I asked that the clam chowder be returned to the kitchen, I was told that the chowder was award winning! Ha! My wife's taco bowl had chicken on it that could be used as a frisby. This place has gone down hill. Peel and eat shrimp are now 20¢ a piece and very small. I didn't even take my leftovers home becuase I knew that I wouldn't eat it and it would only serve as a reminder that I wasted my money on such a sub-par dining experience. I will not be eating there again.

The Oak Hill Tavern is where I go one Wednesday a month after my meeting in North Kingstown. This place is really, really good. It's a townie bar, which I love. The flowing Rhode Island accents and the laughter is as quick-moving as the handles on the beer taps. You run in to all sorts of folks at Oak Hill, especially on wing night (the night I go). It's unbelievably affordable, exceptionally good wings, and some of the most down-to-earth, real, everyman type bartenders you'll ever meet.

The service was poor. The whiskey with water was served as a water with maybe a splash of whiskey, the pulled pork was extremely dry, the half chicken felt like all u were chewing was bone, wife's chicken sandwich was hard. The best thing about Oak Hill was the popcorn, perfectly salted.

This place was ok. The waitress was overwhelmed and working way too many tables- so she was slightly off her game. I had a chicken caesar wrap- and now, I'm not delirious, I know this isn't bar food, but how hard is it to mess up a chicken caesar salad, wrapped in a tortilla rollup? Apparently kind of difficult. There was barely any caesar dressing, and there was no cheese? What kind of establishment is this, where they leave out the most important part of any sandwich? The cheese! Other than that, I can't really comment. It was ok- but I can wager I'll never go back again.

We so wanted this place to be good. Food was bland and unseasoned and did not taste fresh. Major disappointment, especially after revisiting my dinner a few hours later in the bathroom. This place needs some professional help to get it back on track before more people get sick from food.

When you consider this place for what it is, a local bar masquerading as a BBQ joint, I don't know how you can give it less than 3 or 4 stars. How do I rate a local bar? Local bands, music, beer selection, pub food options and friendly bartenders. This place ticks all the boxes, plus they have free peanuts and popcorn, and some decent BBQ. I've tried the baby back ribs, and they had a beautiful pink color from all of the smoke. Delicious. My fiancee tried the Turkey burger, and to her delight, it was just as moist as a nice beef burger. I can't really speak to any of the other food yet, but in terms of pub grub, this place hits the spot. Their beer menu is decent too - not a ton on tap, mostly domestics (5 or 6), but they have a good bottle list to supplement that meager offering. They also do beer dinners here every once in a while so it's certainly worth checking those out. Anytime a brewery comes in to pair foods with beers, it's a good time in my book! How could they improve? Be within walking distance of me, and add more draughts!

A dive-pub. Oak Hill Tavern is the epitome of local spot. Having lived down the street for a few months, I was intrigued by this grungy little joint. The inside is pretty big with lots of seating. It is DARK...no matter what time of day you go in. Free popcorn and peanuts. And you can throw the shells on the floor! I did not really think that this place was much more than a bar, and that is semi-true. They have food, but nothing I would write home about, not even in an email. Great for getting drinks, not a place I would go to for a meal.

Used to love coming here years ago. It seems the last 3 years it's really gone down hill. It seem that the owner/managment just doesn't care anymore....and it shows!! First off the food. The barbecue used to be spot on. It is not the case anymore. I had ribs and my husband had the pulled pork both had little flavor and seemed old like it had been sitting in a fridge for a week and they heated it up before the served it to us. Weak. Second off the staff seemed like they could care less about being there. They all walk around with frowns on there faces. Finally my husband went to use the men's room, he ran out immediately after entering he said the smell of urine was so bad he could not stand using it. They always say judge a restaurant by the cleanliness of the bathroom....well Oak Hill I'd hate to see your kitchen!!! Will not be returning.

Been here a few times on my trips up to Rhode Island. At first I was a little put off by the peanuts on the floor idea, but I got over it. The food portions here are pretty large, and the food is pretty good for a pub food

A townie bar, pours a good beer, has a friendly and helpful staff. The menu has its ups and downs, there's one night a week where you cook your own steak.

Friendly service, free popcorn, delicious seafood casserole, haddock with shrimp and scallops. Big enough to split. Prices were fair.

We had delicious pulled pork sandwiches and great service! The prices aren't bad either.

This was our third or fourth visit to the Oak Hill Tavern. In prior visits the ribs had been the only draw for this establishment. This time all of the food was mediocre too horrible. The service however was quite good and And our drinks and food arrived quickly. We will not return.

ENTERTAINMENT - 8/10 - Many high quality flat screen TVs. Family told me that they have good live music. FOOD - 6.5/10 for bar food. Appetizers - Buffalo Wings, Mini Corn Dogs are excellent (only 25 cents on Wednesday). Entree - Ribs are huge and looked delicious, the Philly Steak Sandwich needed some more flavor, and the burger per my brother was good. The fish and chips looked good as well. SERVICE - 6/10 Good - The waitress seemed tired or maybe just doesn't like people, but she got the order 99.9% correct. (she did not get me a side of ranch that I asked for twice). COMMENTS - Great dive bar with free peanuts and popcorn. If you feel like a loud place to watch a game and eat good wings on a Wednesday, this place is for you.

Love their 25 cent wings on Wednesday! Great free entertainment on weekends. Excellent selection of micro-brews and cheap beer on tap.

Too bad I couldn't give it more like 2.5 stars. Only been here once and it was on a recommendation from someone at another restaurant. They have a reasonable selection on the menu, and I had to try their pulled pork & bbq chicken plate when I went there. They have a number of extras on the table - one I remember was the A1 sauce. No bbq sauce available?? The pulled pork was pretty dry but I just used some of the extra bbq off the chicken to flavor it. Compared to other places named TAVERN, this is heavy on tavern and less so on dining. The atmosphere isn't that bad but the food experience doesn't merit a second visit. It's enough of a menu to take the kids out for a Sunday afternoon but don't make a special trip there. You could do better. So could they.

Enjoyed the food; I had the cod and my husband had the barbecue pork ribs and chicken combo special. Everything was great including the music by Two Way Street and the beer (ice cold glass). Very reasonably priced. Will come back!
