Ok so I didn't actually rate any of the food in my last review. So here goes it. The last time I ate here, it was with a large group of people. Mostly kiddies. So the fried foods and the apps were ok. Nothing to write home about. Now I usually get things cooked here that are NOT on the menu. They are great at accommodating us. But I ordered a dish that came out very very disappointing and I was quite embarrassed because we had invited the other family. The dish was supposed to be the twice cooked pan fried seafood noodle dish. Instead of the yellow egg noodles , it was served with ramen noodles. RAMEN NOODLES! I was mortified!! And luckily it wasn't another Asian family with us or else they would have instantly noticed. I would have totally understood if this place had told me that they don't have those noodles. I would have ordered something else. It's like ordering a dish with mushrooms only to bite into disgusting tinny canned mushrooms. Another disappointing dish here is the pan fried dry broad noodles with beef. (Gawn chao gnau hoah - Cantonese pronunciation) The color to it is almost unappetizing. They load it up with like 2 fistfuls of bean sprouts. And because of the overall grey color to the whole dish, you can't even pick out all of the bean sprouts. They've successfully camouflaged them. Also the beef is not tender at all. I'm pretty sure that in all my life these had been the biggest chunks of beef in a Chinese dish ever. Not in a good way. Remember people, it's supposed to be thin sliced. Like paper. With an almost buttery melt in your mouth texture. You can spend a good minute eating just one piece of that beef. This dish is usually my go to dish at Americanized Chinese takeout restaurants. This place is a big no no for me.

Just moved into the area and this is our local Chinese restaurant. I was hoping it would be good and it didn't disappoint. The wonton soup is amazing! We have only gotten take-out so far but the dining room looks cozy...fireplace and friendly family vibe.

More flies in the dining area than an open air street market in Calcutta. On the walls! In the air! Landing on my food while we ate...I lost it when the owner started killing flies with a fly swatter in the dining room in front of customer. This was not the first time with flies here either. It could happen to anyplace I figured so i tried again...but there is a major insect problem in this place !! I can't go here anymore! Go see it for yourself!

I have been around the world and back and have yet to find a better Chinese place than my beloved Lucky House. I'm not just saying this because I'm from the area, word is born, this is the best Chinese place on the planet! Everything on the menu is delish, the portions are HUGE and the prices are cheap! Seriously who could ask for more? My favorite plates are the chow mein (the yummy vegetables in the gravy and noodles are to die for), the boneless spare rips (the meat is tender and the sauce is sweet without being overbearing), General Tso's chicken (the white meat chicken is deep fried just right ) and the sauce is sweet and tangy. The beef teriyaki is just the right amount of sweet and salty. The balance of the favors in all the dishes is just perfect, and unfortunately every Chinese place Ive ever been to fails in comparison. I'm ruined for life! I'm convinced I will never find a better Chinese place...ever...in fact this place should hire me as a spokes person!

Lucky House is a jewel along the road. They don't deliver but they definitely make up for it in speed usually your order is done well before you've had a chance to even get to the restaurant. We placed an order for 6 people and the only reason we had to wait was because they were helping another lady figure out her order. (she thought they had shorted her, turned out she was wrong) We've enjoyed Lucky House for years and will continue to do so. Thank you Lucky House staff for your dedication to top notch service and food!

I don't know. Maybe we went on an off-day or caught them at an off-hour, because my experience was nothing like these other reviews. We were early for dinner (5:30-ish); there were two other tables in the restaurant and a few more came in as we were eating. The server announced that they were engaged in a "changing of the guards," which apparently meant that the person who had taken our drink order would be replaced with someone else. Fine. They brought delicate dried noodles with duck and mustard sauces while we waited. Awesome. I couldn't wait to try some of their steamed dumplings, so we ordered some of these, making sure to wait to order entrees because everyone knows what happens when you don't: The food comes out on top of the appetizers. Like lightning, the dumplings were out, and I have to say, they were bland, doughy and rather disappointing. We figured it was safe to order, so my friend ordered the wonton soup and the "three-meat combo" (chicken, pork, beef and vegetables), and I ordered the sweet-and-sour pork with the sauce on the side. Again, the soup was out at the speed of light, but sadly that speed was not enough to render it spectacular. It looked incredible, but the meat was incredibly fatty and the broth left much to be desired. The wontons had the doughy, dry quality of the dumplings, and was really nothing to write home about. You better believe me when I say that on top of the dumplings (which were still on the table) AND the soup which just landed, the entrees came out and everyone was struggling to find a place for all the plates. Not much annoys me more than this simple server error. DON'T BRING THE ENTREES ON TOP OF THE OTHER COURSES. EVER. It didn't help that the sauce ended up drenching my pork, but I spoke up and the waitress (who was incidentally very friendly and polite) quickly (how else?) replaced it. For shame: the "three meat combo" turned out to be lacking the third meat (pork), had little taste and became increasingly gelatinous and congealed as it cooled down. Not very appetizing. My sweet and sour pork was of good quality, but the pieces were way too big, leaving them tasting dry and chewy instead of moist and satisfying. It was a good thing I ordered the sauce on the side (and sent it back when it came on there anyway) because it tasted like burnt maple syrup with warm pineapples in it. Can you say gross? The saving grace was dipping the pork into the duck sauce. Actually gave it a bit of a kick. On the whole, food-wise, we kept wishing we could bring the food home and finish cooking it the right way, because there's no way anyone wants to pay good money for this half-hearted attempt at Chinese cooking. The service was friendly enough and pleasant, but this doesn't completely make up for the many errors and missteps along the way. I don't think I will stay away from Lucky House forever (the bar looks cool), but I'm not busting at the seams to get back there. No luck for me at Lucky House!

Awesome food. Best Chinese I have had in quite some time. This place is my new Chinese food place of choice and I will definitely go back there whenever I want some of that deliciousness.

A friend of mine turned me onto this Cantonese restaurant a few years ago, and it has become both my wife and I's favorite Cantonese dining spot. They've re-modeled a bit since my last visit, and now the atmosphere is quite cozy. Their menu features the standard fare offered in most Cantonese restaurants, with the added touch of a few good Szechaun dishes. The prices and the quantity of food served is first rate, but I do wish there was a little bit more variety in the Fried Rice. This seems to be quite normal in Rhode Island Cantonese restaurants, and is truly a shame, because it keeps me from giving their food five stars. I'm used to having more than just onions, pork and bean sprouts along with the rice. I grew up in Massachusetts and all the Cantonese places there add Scallion, Egg, chopped Shrimp and Peas alongside the three items I mentioned. If you visit, ask for a booth as far away as possible from the bar, as it gets rather loud in there at times.

Best everything. I have been enjoying lucky house for years. (Location used to be granite plaza) great eggrolls, dumplings, teriyaki, boneless ribs. Drinks are good too. However the regular bar customers are loud and obnoxious

Well.... I'll be damned. Stopped here on the way home from a road trip and was pleasantly surprised by how delicious this food was. Our group got the orange chicken dish, broccoli and chicken, white rice, and crab rangoons. We were expecting usual mall junk food fare but were actually impressed by the quality of the meal. Of course none of these dishes are traditional but for fake american chinese food it was really good. The orange chicken was whole chunks of white meat chicken lightly breaded and fried in a creamy sweet hint of orange sauce and the jasmine rice was still a little wet and had a fresh taste. The Broccoli with chicken was tossed in a light soy sauce and the chicken was actual strips of chicken not the usual questionable pieces tossed in in some other places. The only confusing thing about the dishes was the amount of white rice they served as a side. It's about 5:1 ration of chicken to spoonful of rice. I guess for hard core carnivores this is great but I like my rice and I like a lot of it. Probably best to order an additional side if you want to make more of a rounded ( oval maybe? there's no vegetables) meal. Price wise they were around medium-- somewhere between 6-10 dollars for a plate but the portions were huge! We ordered the small version of each of our plates and still had left overs to share. If you choose to get a large of any of the dishes make sure your planning to share with the table. The service was friendly and prompt. They filled our water glasses about every gulp or so which is both awesome and annoying when you know you have another 4 hour car ride ahead of you.

If u like real tasting Chinese food do not come here!! This place is absolutely terrible we returned 2 items.. My husband went without eating anything we only kept the chicken fingers.. Basically this is Chinese food for hill Billy's or old people who think brown gravy is good on everything. It was dry and seemed like it was sitting under a lamp for days .. stay away ! It's disgusting

This place has excellent food and a fun staff. The Philadelphia egg rolls are crazy good!! Seriously large portions at an extremely affordable price go a long way toward explaining the consistently full parking lot. Great food, good drinks and fast service. Don't forget to spin the wheel!!!

I decided to try this place after a 4 year absence. I ordered general chicken. Awful! I ordered beef teriyaki. Awful! The general chicken had a weird taste and super soggy batter. Very little sauce. I'm still chewing my beef teriyaki. The best part was the fortune cookie. Oh, if you want anything special, good luck! They informed me they don't do that. All 2 cars in the parking lot had them in shambles. Stay away from this place. Awful food!

Absolutely uninspired Chinese food. The location is right near my house, and couldn't be more convenient. However, I will never order food from them again. We ordered one chicken dish, one beef dish, and two vegetable dishes. None of these were very good. There are certainly better options for Chinese food in Westerly.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
