This is a little hidden gem in Bristol! I've ordered twice and haven't been disappointed . The food is fresh and authentic Italian. It's very small for seating but if you don't want to wait , you can call in your order and be prepared you may have a five minute wait on hold because of the volume of business . Be patient! It's worth the wait!! I have had the chicken Milanese and it was amazing!! The menu offers so many awesome dishes plus there are always evening specials. There closed on Sunday's which after there busy Saturday nights doesn't surprise me!. There's usually a line on the side walk either waiting to hopefully get a table or for puck -up. It's a definite try , you won't be disappointed. The outside patio seating is quaint but don't expect to have a romantic dinner. It's a place for great food and get to know your neighbor sitting next to you. :)

Busy little place frequented by the locals. This is my first time here with my kids. The menu selection is decent with mostly with pizzas and sandwiches, as it is a pizzeria, but has a decent choice of Italian themed appetizers. The decor is simple but cute and casual. The food is prepared simply but good tasting.

I have to be honest. Pomodoro's quality and care out forth in the food they make is decreasing. I am not sure if this is just for take out orders. The staff seems disorganized and too busy to care with take out orders. This means they forget things and you leave not completely satisfied (like missing a side of blue cheese). Recently, I went to Pomodoro, and ordered a buffalo chicken pizza on the phone. Firstly, I got a calzone. Secondly, on the menu (under the pizza) it says scallions come on the buffalo chicken pizza. So would it not come on the calzone? Either way it didn't come on the calzone, and that was the reason I decided to order the buffalo chicken pizza in the first place. Buffalo chicken can be really bland so if they advertise green scallion on a pizza you expect it because it is noticeable. There were other issues with the calzone to. The chicken was definitely low quality and some areas were slightly doughy. It could have afforded a little extra time in the oven. At first I was letting these small things go and passing it off as a one time fluke. But the quality of the service and food has not been there recently and I truest hope someone at Pomodoro's is reading yelp reviews. I have to add this to my review because it is these minor things that really get me. I tried to order pizza from work today for delivery. No where on there menu does it say they only do delivery after 5:00pm. Well that's what I was told, so they lost a sale. This might be my first 1 star if this management stuff continues.

Great little restaurant, everything is very fresh and well seasoned. Very good food. The pizza has a crispy not heavy crust. They make an excellent sauce. Not having Sunday hours is a disappointment.

Stopped in here a few weeks ago to order 16 pizzas to bring to a dinner for our softball team which was playing over at Colt Park. I got there around 2pm to place the order and let them know that I needed the pizzas by 6'ish. I got there at 6 and all of the pizzas were ready.....I didn't expect that. They then proceeded to put all of the pizzas in my car for me....I didn't expect that either. The pizza was very good......the banana pepper and roni was the overall favorite...but the other pizzas were very good as well. My personal favorite was the sausage, pepper & onion. I would go here again in a minute.....the staff was wonderful and handled a large, pretty much last minute order wonderfully.

If I judged Pomodoro on the pizza alone, it'd be bad. But I'm smart enough to know that sometimes a restaurant deserves a little love for the effort they put forth....even if the effort falls a little short. Sure the pizza crust isn't great and heirs on the slightly cardboard-y side but their sauce is tasty and they get props for using fresh mozzarella and being generous with the fresh basil. The decor is cute and the service is friendly. Prices are good and it's BYOB so that always gets an extra star. If you're in the area and need a pizza pie last minute, hit the packy for some beer and head over Pomodoro. But I probably wouldn't recommend making a special trip otherwise.

Love this place best Italian in Bristol. The chicken Parm calzone is my fav! My girlfriend had the Parma pizza which was amazing! don't kno how any of the hater comments can be true this place is packed every night. Good work Pomo.

The food is nothing short of amazing. My girlfriend and I have now been here a few times and we are never disappointed. The wait staff is very courteous and timely as well. It can get a bit tight inside but has a nice homestyle feel to it. In the midst of our dinner last week, we offered to move to an open two seat table to accommodate a foursome coming in and the waitresses were very thankful. We understood they needed to maximize space to earn their tips so we were willing to help out. They were even thoughtful enough to give us some free cannolis to finish off the night. The flavors are fresh and enticing, and the $5 corking fee to bring your own bottle of wine can't be beat. We will be coming here for years to come.

So far I have only had a small pizza with pepperoni. That said, awesome! Right around the corner, this place is little and I am sure is going to be packed on the weekends. I am thrilled to have a new "go to" pizza place in Bristol. Also the staff was very friendly. I can't wait to go through the menu! Thanks guys, well done!

I just finished my second slice of cheese pizza with pineapple. This is me and my husband's usual combination because we are vegetarian and skip on the ham part of the Hawaiian pizza. Because I've had this combination from so many different places (even from different countries), I can accurately conclude that this pizza was just NOT good. It was incredibly greasy, had thick crunchy dough that tasted overcooked, and the flavor was nothing spectacular either. The only reason I had a second slice is because I was so hungry. But I feel a stomachache coming on from all that grease, and it wasn't even worth it. Ever since I moved from Providence I have had such trouble finding yummy pizza. I already miss Fellini's more than you could possibly know. I ordered delivery, and although it came hot, it took a full hour for it to get here. Being that I live just .25 miles away, I found this a little ridiculous. The guy who brought it had vulgar music blasting from his car, and I was a little embarrassed that my ordering food had ultimately disturbed other tenants in my building. If I could hear the music blasting, so could everyone else. The guy didn't even say anything to me; he just pushed the receipt in my face, obviously wanting me to sign. Needless to say, he didn't get the tip I had waiting in my pocket for him.

I was driving home late from a pretty wacky day at work and, as the adrenaline left my system, I realized between serial yawns that there was no way I was going to operate a stove or handle a sharp knife (aka COOK). Enter: Pomodoro! Take out is a rarity for me, but I thought I would give Pomodoro a try. I called in a pizza bianco, ready in about 20 minutes, and grabbed a San Pelle Chinotto. The pizza was PERFECT. Crust was chewy, airy, crispy, and moist. It's my fave style of pizza crust. The combination of cheeses was like toe curlingly good. So good I didn't even care about the imminent cardiovascular disease I am heading for eating an entire small cheese pizza by myself. And can we talk about the Chinotto? Hi! So happy they carry it! I was kinda dreading making a selection from the drink cooler as I feared the typical unimaginative selection of coke or pepsi products in every pizza place. Pomodoro is too cool for that though. They have a selection of Yacht Club colas, San Pelle, and some other fun things to try! I will definitely be heading back to that SWEET patio to enjoy some more Italian gastro goodness.

Wow! Ordered the special; clams, mussels and shrimp in red sauce over penne. It was so good after eating my meal I ordered the Italian feast to take home to my 92 year old Mother (the true test). While eating some (the portion was huge) she pinched her cheek, winked her eye and said, "Buona." This place is "the real deal." Get over there and get some authentic, fresh, and well prepared Italian food now.

I have only tried the nonnie pizza from here but let me tell you, the first thing that went through my mind was how disappointing all the other pizzas I've ever eaten have been compared to this one. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

I had been passing by Pomodoro for months, thinking, "I've really got to try this new place." Regrettably I missed out on months of good pizza, damn! Finally one day I decided to give it a shot. I was at my apartment and hadn't seen the menu before, so I spent a few minutes searching the web for a website or menu... Unsuccessful. I did, however, find many great reviews. Hopeful, I called over to the restaurant and was greeted by a cheerful, enthusiast voice. The woman on the other end was very informative and patient as I made my menu inquiries. I think a fair way to judge a restaurant's pizza is to go for a margherita or a plain cheese pie - levels out the playing field. She recommended the "pomodoro" pizza - San Marzano tomatoes, fresh mozz, basil and evoo. When I went to pick up my food, the staff were attentive and friendly. The pizza was coming out of the oven just as I arrived and I had that delicious smelling box in my finger tips in no time. Once home, I popped that sucker open. Impressions - medium thickness crust, nice and golden, generous amount of sauce, good proportion of cheese and basil. Well... Maybe could have used a touch more basil, but I'm a fiend. First bites, heavenly but a tad messy! All that tasty sauce sort of oozed off the crust. As I continued to eat and the pizza cooled, it got better. It melded together and was even more delightful. I will definitely return!

Delicious pizza! The best pizza around for sure. The Rhode Island pizza is amazing, it has calamari on it and the pizza with prosciutto and arugula is delicious. The only thing is that this place is a bit pricey for pizza but it really is worth it. In the summer they have great outdoor seating and it's BYOB.

Wonderful food. Inventive menu where all the dishes around me looked worth trying. I make my own sauce so I always look for that fresh flavor. This was a very enjoyable sauce and worth soaking up. Service was good but a little uneven. We arrived and learned it was byob. I like that but wss surprised to be charged a corkage fee without being told ahead of time. Our simple salad came and went followed by a 15 min wait until a basket of nothing special bread arrived. Another 20 min wait until the food arrived. The chicken and eggplant was great with very fresh mozzarella. My wife's meatball and pasta was simple but good. Meatballs were complex and tasty but there should have been 3 instead of 2. We'll try again but given the size they need to work on the flow of food to eliminate the gaps.

I had a hankering for some good italian, so my girlfriend and I thought that we would give this cute little place a try. First off, the place is tiny. It probably only sits about 22 at it's total max with about 6 tables and some bar seating. If you plan to come during a busy time, I would suggest making a reservation if you want to eat-in. As luck would have it, we got an open two-seater by the door immediately. However, this posed some problems as there was a cold draft when anyone would come in, which was somewhat displaced by a well placed space heater. They might want to think about investing in a small winter vestibule. However, with the business this place did last night, an expansion is perhaps not long in their future. At any rate, it wasn't a big deal and the food more than made up for it. I'm looking forward to coming back in the spring or summer months and sitting in their outdoor space, which looks charming. The food was fantastic! Classic Italian done very very well. The chef even came out a few times throughout the evening and asked how we were - that was really nice to see. We started with the fried calamari which was delicious - one of the best I've ever had. Not overly greasy, no marinara on the side was needed. This was served with a pickled yellow pepper of some kind which added a really nice flavor along with a vinaigrette. Bright flavors, beautifully presented, and delicious. Next, we had a pizza special called the Nonnie - - Ricotta, Mozzarella, Roasted Red Peppers, and Eggplant. (It also came with meatball, but we asked that it not be included). Overall, the pizza was delicious. Came out of their oven piping hot, nice balance of flavors. The sauce tasted very very fresh. The crust was medium and well cooked - seemed at times to be a little generic, but it stood up well with the toppings. I don't think a thinner crust would have held up. It had a nice crunch on the crusty bits. Overall, very well done. I haven't had much pizza in Bristol yet, but it's the best so far. @ $20 for the pie, it seemed very reasonable. One last bit of awesomeness - the restaurant is BYOB, I saw many people enjoying a bottle of wine that they had brought in. All in all, this was an incredibly great experience and I'm looking forward to trying it again.

Food is amazing. Get the pomodoro sauce. We have only done take out but I can't wait to sit and eat there. Everything is so fresh and homemade.

Bring your own beer and wine! The pomodoro tomato Sauce was excellent! For an appetizer I got the mozzarella sticks. They were big and had a nice taste to them. My mother had the chicken soup and it was delicious. They were playing classic hits from Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr and more rat pack favorites. Our entrees were fabulous. My mother had meatballs and they had a nice homemade taste. I got a calzone. It was buffalo chicken. Right enough chicken, right enough cheese, right enough size. It was so good. The chef came out and talked to us. He asked us if we enjoyed everything. The waitress was very friendly! Overall very good dining experience. We will be back again :)

As any bristol resident, You know who runs it. So you've heard of it a million and a half times. So finally recently, my girlfriend and I had to give it a shot. We went with what any self respecting Bristolian would do. We got the pizza with Calamari! We asked to have it fried instead of baked. It was delicious! Very very good. Two great things put together. It was a small, quaint joint. Very cute. Sinatra music on the radio while you sat around and indulged on some great eats. Only complaint is that considering how small it is, you had to keep your jacket on because every time the door opened in the cold winter month that it was, you'd get that burst of very, very cold air through the entire place, as its about the size of a living room. Only unpleasant part of the experience. Not something you can really help in a place that small, but regardless a great place. My suggestion? Go back multiple times and try a little bit of everything!!

I finally got around to trying out the new restaurant, Pomodoro on Wood St. in Bristol. Although it is referred to here as a pizzeria, it has more of the feel and menu of a bistro. I ordered a specialty pizza called "the Katie," which is a white pizza with fresh sliced tomato, sauteed spinach, sliced black olives, and small pepperoni. The crust was thin, the kind where the toppings and cheese go right out to the edge. It was fabulous! While standing in the place waiting for my take-out, I saw a beautiful dish of RI calamari go by that smelled wonderful. I also spotted a large portion of bread pudding with caramel sauce walk by that I must go back for. The place is small and requires reservations most nights. Parking is non-existent, but delivery is free. From what I am hearing from other patrons, the other items on the menu are totally worth trying. I think this place is a keeper.

A few friends recommended this restaurant, but we have not had the opportunity to try it until yesterday. First we started by sharing a somewhat ordinary antipasto....not bad but, just ok. However, we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the pizza.... We ordered a large "Nonni" pizza which was made with tomato, roasted red peppers, fresh ricotta cheese, eggplant then topped with sliced meatballs. Our waitress, Andy ( who was terrific by the way) brought us some extra marinara sauce to spoon over the pizza.....what a treat! Looking forward to returning again to sample pasta...possibly with pink vodka sauce or boloanaise style.

Finally a great Italian restaurant in Bristol with a price point that works for lunch and dinner and take out. Since i work in Bristol most of the time it is very limited if not a absent for lunch with a restaurant that is high quality like this. All freshly made. Highly recommend !!

Family owned "real" Italian food.... Fresh ingredients.... Dine in or take out. We ordered a couple different grinders to try, both were excellent. Going back this weekend to try the pizzas or calzones!

Yummmmm! The pizza had plenty of sauce and toppings. It has a nice thin crust, crispy on the bottom and chewy, more NY style (my fav) it is a tiny hole on the wall place on Wood St and it's BYOB! They were very accommodating about opening the bottle and giving you plastic cups for your wine. The only down side was I felt we were hustled out pretty quick when we took our last bit. Some may say "efficient" to me it felt pushed. I get it, they are in a small space, so the tables are a premium, but it wasn't busy and there were open tables. I look forward to many more pizzas and trying other menu item Pompodoro.

Based on Yelp reviews, and the fact that we struck out on several attempts at other places, we ended up coming to Pomodoro, and were pleased that we did. Just as others said, it's quite small, in a neighborhood. They don't have a liquor license, but my husband bought a beer down the street at Viola's, and they open it for you for a $1 charge/ $5 for uncorking wine. We ordered a garden salad to share, while waiting for pizza. The waitress brought it on separate plates, and offered us plenty of dressing. The pizza was with red sauce, fresh mozzarella and basil (Margarita) and was one of the best tasting pizzas we've ever had. We had very good service, too. It was really a great find. We reserve five stars for finer dining, but the pizza was really a 5 star. The door opened and closed a lot, for guests coming in, and to pick up take out. Might have been problematic if it had been colder. All in all, we would definitely make it a point to go here again, when in Bristol.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
