When bringing our son back to Roger Williams we were looking for a place to grab a bite and found Gooding Grille. At first the outside didn't seem like much (maybe just a basic breakfast/lunch type place), but we were pleasantly surprised. The menu has some great options, the service was great and the food was really good. We got Asian lettuce wraps as an appetizer, I got a really, really good Rueben. The only notes I have are honey mustard sauce seems like it might be made in house as it had a strong clove flavor, and my sons burger did come out more medium well than medium rare, but this doesn't seem to be a burger place, so keep that in mind. The cheesecake was really good and on the way out we saw the apple crisp and pizza, both which looked great. Definitely putting this on our list to check out again, and I would say stop in if you are in the area!

Thursday night 4 of us went. 3 entries were very good my entrée, veal parm was awful. It was dry, burned, lacked sauce and it was a ground veal patty (I believe). Service was as expected very good. Bottom line do not have the veal parm!!!!~

Among my list of top places to go for food and drinks in Bristol. It's not on the waterfront, the parking lot is small, but the food, staff and bartenders make that place one of the best restaurants in Bristol. My wife and I are treated like family every time we go, and it's because of how we are treated that we go quite often. Highly recommend. You will not be disappointed.

I was very disappointed with the restaurant Gooding Grille in Bristol RI. My friends made A reservation for 15 stating 3 groupons were going to be used. When the check came one of the guests informed me about the groupon deal. Since one of the couples did not show to use there groupon I asked the waitress if I could possibly purchase this groupon on short notice to pay for my family's meal. She stated it was okay as long as I show proof of purchase. I was then approached after purchasing the groupon by the owner who stated "We will NOT accept the groupon at this point; She stated we have been more than accommodating. If you want to come back and use it at a later time that's fine and if not that's fine also. My complaint is I don't see how the restaurant or management was accommodating in any way. I also don't understand why the restaurant would not accept the groupon I just purchased. They were told and agreed upon 3 being used, in the end they only honored 2. To make matters worse the owner complained to one of the patrons that we were taking advantage and trying to "scam her". If she doesn't want to honor the groupon why make them available? The food was fair at best. My wife's bread on her sandwich was burnt and my daughter's bun was also burnt. I will never return to this restaurant again.

So let me start by saying here the service is wonderful, the waiters always kind, and the people a gem to meet. However the food was a different story of opposites. So I started the meal with a crisp angry orchard and a hot crock of French onion soup. I love French onion and have been looking for a. Good one here in Bristol, but sadly it wasn't here at all. The soup itself, while big and full of cheese, lacked any flavor or true taste. But now here's that opposite side of the coin, the main course was fantastic! I got fish and chips, the fish was fantastic and the fries and onion rings crisp and not too greasy. Also the service was phenomenal! They even made me fresh cocktail sauce when the ran out. Overall the Gooding Grille seems to be a restaurant where it can be a hit or miss sorta place, some days unbelievable, others why'd I even go.

What you see is what you get here. Comfortable, family style eatery serving typical American fare at very reasonable prices. My wife and I stopped in on a recent Friday night and the place had a good vibe and was pretty packed. Our waiter was charming and service was quick. We ended up going with a few rounds of fireball, a bunch of drinks and some burgers and appetizers and couldn't of been more satisfied. We got the check and were pleasantly surprised it didn't break the bank either. My wife and father in law have come by here and hung out at the bar and had equally great praised about the service and friendly barkeeps. Gooding Grilling isn't trying to reinvent the wheel and that's why I'll definitely come back to visit. Good prices, great food and service and a 2 minute drive from the house. Can't ask for much more in a local restaurant/watering hole.

We went here on the desire of my mother. She had heard good things about it and heard that it was reasonably priced, with great food. I've known a handful of places to be here. So I was curious as to what this newest business was like Upon entering the establishment, you first notice an absolutely beautifully designed bar to your left. Classy and rather old-school looking. The layout of the restaurant itself isn't much different from the other places I've been to in this spot, but you can tell that they've spent some money re-doing the place. The bar is definitely new. There was a hostess who seated us and told us of the special and gave us our menus. It took a little longer then I appreciated for the waitress to come by and at least say hello. This is a place in Bristol, RI on a Sunday evening. It's not like the place was packed by any stretch of the imagination, So even if she was busy a simple "hello, be right with you" would have sufficed for me. I'm in customer service professionally, so things like that don't go unnoticed with me. When our waitress made her way over to us she was very friendly and cordial. She asked us how we were and then right away asked if we'd like to start out with some drinks. I ordered my go to cocktail. Bombay Sapphire martini, dry, with olives. My mom kept it simple and went for a Coors light. It's obviously not a HUGE deal considering it's a handful of kids waiting in a small town joint but I did dislike the fact that my martini was shaken. This gives the cocktail an odd flavor a martini is meant to be mixed with stirring not shaking. Shaking waters it down and dilutes the liquor. Outside of that, the drink was pretty on point. For appetizers, we ordered the "Bristol special" or something of that nature. Essentially just a fun, local name slapped onto your standard app sampler. It came with onion rings, mozz sticks, and buffalo chicken tenders. The tenders were my favorite on the plate as they were spicy, but flavorful. The sauce they use is really good. Not sure where they get it but it wasn't bad at all. The onion rings and mozz sticks were also good but nothing I would write home about. They weren't bad by any means, I've just had much better. For the actual entree, I ordered the Sao Paul Sirloin which is a sirloin steak cooked how you want and topped with a fried egg, red wine sauce, and red pepper strips. You can tell on the first few cuts and tastes that the steak was frozen up until it was thrown on the grill. I'm a steak lover, so to find this out was a let down. The sauce and peppers ontop with the egg where still good. Not bad. I find myself thinking that a lot through this meal. Not bad. The steak was fattier on the corners and as close as you can get to Medium-rare with a previously frozen piece of beef. My mother opted for one of her favorite dishes generally, she went for the lobster roll. It's on a hot dog roll that has been toasted. It's got what seems to be a mayo and a mix of different parts of lobster meat. She didn't have any problem with hers. She enjoyed it. It was all real lobster, which was good to see. She had no complaints at all. The staff was friendly and didn't really do anything negative. Our waitress checked on us a few times and made sure everything was okay. She did well and was a good part of the experience. Overall the meal was alright. I do disagree with the affordability concept that many people pitched to my mother as I've had much better meals for a much better value. If you're looking for a simple pasta, and beer meal then this place is probably a win for you. But there's definitely way better options in town. It was a decent experience but a bit pricey for the lower quality of food. I wouldn't be opposed to coming back, but I'm in no rush.

So it's a Friday night and we chose gooding grill for a family dinner. First impression as we walked in was a family friendly environment. So I felt almost an at home vibe the second the hostess sat us. All the waitresses we walked by that made eye contact greeted us with a smile. The service was very fast. The hostess let us know the special which was great. We ordered an app two entrees and two desserts for 40$. You can substitute a bottle of wine for the desserts. I don't know too many places you can do so. The food was superb. I got the seafood Mac n cheese. The only problem I had with it was it came too hot!! Lol it took a couple mins to get into it but once I did I was very satisfied with my choice. My girlfriend ordered the Sao Miguel steak. The steak was a little dry but still good. She also expected it to be a little more towards the Portuguese side rather than a regular steak. We opted for the desserts instead of the wine my lava cake was a great ending to a great experience. When your worst part of your dining experience is choosing Sam summer or Sam porch rocker you can say it was a good night.

Really Good Cocktails. Had the baked haddock - nice piece of fish- well seasoned - good sides. Fish and chips were good - not a fan of small chunks of fish - but the flavor and freshness were very good. We will be back.

I am usually not one to write about things I have enjoyed, however I cannot let this go by without commenting on one of the best restaurants in Bristol. Gooding Grille's food, service , staff and owners are the greatest addition to small business in my wonderful town. Food is consistently excellent, staff always pleasant and make you feel like they love it when you come in, and owners treat you like you are long time friends. Great job all of you, see you all again this week for sure. Very thankful you are here, Kathy

.Went for dinner last week. Familiar hostess was a pleasant surprise. Service was excellent. Stuffed mushrooms app was delicious. My husband loved his rib eye, cooked to perfection. I had the baked stuffed shrimp and steak tips. The shrimp was very good and the steak tips were cooked perfectly and the flavor was fabulous! The portions are generous. The menu is very appealing....we can't wait to return and try more dishes! Nice job Gooding Grille!

I drove by the Gooding Grille many times but I was never motivated to try it until seeing them on Restaurant.com at a discounted price. From the outside it appears to be a small bar with most likely typical bar food that obviously came straight out of the freezer. This turned out NOT to be the case. When we walked in we were pleasantly surprised but a very nice looking bar and friendly staff. We were immediately greeted and escorted to a table. There were 2 patrons at the bar and 3 couples in the restaurant area so they were pretty slow. Regardless, the staff continually checked on each table several times and seemed like they genuinely cared about everyone that was dining there (how refreshing!). For appetizers we ordered the Rhode Island clam chowder and the Caribbean salad (fresh spinach with toasted almonds, strawberries, blueberries, mango and a raspberry dressing). Both were very good and tasted like they used all fresh ingredients. For the main corse we had the veggie pizza and one of the meals that included scallops. Both meals were good- better than I expected. For dessert we ordered a piece of cheesecake (topped with strawberries) and the homemade apple crisp (served warm topped with ice cream). Both were very good. I will go back to the Gooding Grill and would recommend it for a low key night. Patrons were dressed casual, some still in their work uniforms.

So nice to be greeted at the door and welcomed in. Truly enjoyable meal with excellent service. I will certainly come back with my party of five since there was something for all my picky kids.

Went to the Gooding Grill for the first time last night &! thoroughly enjoyed it! There were 4 of us & we all loved our meals & can't wait to have it again. My husband had the fried seafood platter & will be enjoying it for a couple of lunches-it was huge & not greasy-had to try some. Our son & his girlfriend both had the chicken parm & will also have some for lunch. I also liked the fact that even though my meal comes served over rice, I was able skip the rice & get potato & veg instead. Our server, Tammy, was excellent & prompt with serving us. If I had to give a complaint about anything it would be that it was a little chilly in the restaurant. We will definitely be going again.

So last night myself, the wifey and another couple ate here for the first time. After seeing a lot of my Facebook friends rave about this place, I had to give this place a try. And let me tell you, all the great things I heard about this place was dead on. We walk in, the hostess was very nice and personable. She took my name and it was only about a 20 min wait, which considering it was a Saturday night and the place was pretty busy wasn't bad at all. So we sat at the bar to get a drink while we waited. And a gentleman walks up to us from the kitchen and introduces himself as Steve. He asks us if this is our first time and we told him yes. He was very, very nice. He warned us to not order too much food because the portions were very big. We were like, wow! How many owners of restaurants would tell you that? He stays and talks with us for a few minutes. He's very personable, funny and has a genuine attitude of wanting to make you feel that they are really happy you came in to their restaurant. Plus, this restaurant is deceivingly big. From the outside it looks small, but you walk in and wow it is much larger than I thought. So we decided to ask to sit at one of the high-top tables. They obliged and our waitress was right there at our table within seconds of being seated. Hannah I believe was her name. Very nice, great sense of humor and attentive. I mean, we never had empty glasses, checking on us frequently. So our food arrived, and Steve was not kidding. The portions are very generous. I had the honey BBQ chicken wrap. It comes with two sides. I chose fries and pickles. Let me tell you they stiffed this wrap to its full capacity and then some! Everyone at my table had nothing but great things to say about their food. So was we are winding down with our dinner, along comes Steve again. Asking us how everything was, thanking us for coming out and joking around with us. He also tells us that they are going to have outdoor seating when the weather warms up complete with an outside bar (if the town of Bristol allows it). So after our waitress took our plates away we got another round of drinks. After that Hannah asks us if we need anything else and then brings us our check. So we pay our check, having some good convo as we are finishing up our drinks. All of the sudden Steve comes over to our table and says "here's our strawberry shortcake dessert that I just made in the kitchen." I huge bowl with four spoons. Are you kidding me?? We already paid our checks and he brings us a free dessert! I was blown away! Steve and the Gooding Grille are doing everything right. Convenient location, a very warm, personable and friendly atmosphere. Great staff and great food! Thanks Hannah, Steve and Gooding Grille for an awesome experience! You have made some repeat customers out of us!

I had lunch here today with a friend and had an overall enjoyable experience. The hostess was very friendly, the owner came by to thank us for coming, the waitress was attentive and friendly. We started with clam cakes which were very good - light, fluffy and crispy with a good amount of clams in them. The little neck appetizer was also good. They also had interesting salad choices that came in two sizes. I tried the small size parrot head which was spinach with assorted fruits and nuts. Though a small portion, it was still a generous size and tasty. We then had shrimp Mozambique and a ribeye accompanied by onion rings and sliced fresh carrots. The ribeye was nicely charred on the outside and med rare center and was delicious. I was disappointed in the shrimp, I had asked for extra garlic and spicy but there were minimal tiny pieces of minced garlic and no kick at all. At least the shrimp was nice and firm. The bill arrived and I was pleasantly surprised by how reasonable it was. I will return here, just not for the Mozambique.
