We decided to give DeWolf another try. Even though our previous experiences were not satisfactory. Due to the lack of Indian food, we decided to try the Indian fusion. We started with the naan w/ olives. Very doughy and the olives were basically sprinkled on. We also had the cauliflower appetizer which was excellent We then decided to try the two Tandoor dishes, neither was very good. The lamb was very bony with very little meat and the chicken was very plain. As we discovered before they offer an excellent pour on their wine service. Our advise if going to DeWolf stick to the apps and drink wine.

We hadn't been to DeWolfe Tavern in awhile and we really enjoyed our return visit despite a few bumps. The night was perfect for dinner at DeWolfe Tavern, a late summer evening with a slight chill in the air. We started with drinks on the patio, enjoying both our drinks (nice service and recommendations from the bartender) and the view. We then moved upstairs for dinner. (The first floor is more casual and the upper floor a little more special with views of Mt. Hope Bay.) We ordered a number of dishes to share: - Waiter was friendly but unable to help with wine pairing - All dishes came out together instead of nicely paced as we had hoped - Lobster popover was rich, special, just outstanding - Mussels were huge, unmemorable except for large size - Pork with tamarind glaze, cheddar grits and cauliflower Manchurian was the star of the meal - Also loved the side of Brussels Sprouts corn bread hash - Homemade cardamom ice cream topped the evening off perfectly. While there were a few bumps, we enjoyed our evening, the view, and the innovative food and will be back soon.

This is a very special place: 1- Service is awesome. 2- I enjoyed some of their world dishes, like the Naan bread. 3- The place is just awesome, must visit while in Bristol again. 4- I was invited to a special lunch with partners in my industry (Hospitality), they treated us like royalties. Wow. 5- Clean place. 6- The Chef is awesome too, talented and knows what he is doing. Back soon. Especially this summer.

What a delightful Sunday lunch at De Wolf Tavern. Hubs started with a seafood chowder that I was afraid he would try to lick the bowl. I had three little neck clams that were fresh and well shucked and a fried green tomato topped with lobster and avocado. We both chose sandwiches made with naan. His was filet mignon with cheddar and mine was pulled chicken. Both came with homemade chips and were so generous that we took half home. The highlight of our meal was finding a cab franc on the wine list from a vineyard on Long Island that we have visited. Although it was a bit of a pricey lunch it was well worth it.

My sister and her boyfriend live in Bristol so we went out to dinner at Dewolf Tavern when we visited. It was an amazing dinner. We went on a Thursday night so we got a half price bottle of wine to split. They had a great wine and beer menu. We had the local cheese platter with house made jam and local honey which was excellent. I am vegetarian and the menu had a lot of great options. I had the naan vegetarian sandwich which was incredible. I love naan and Indian food so I love how the menu was so versatile and incorporated these foods. The Brussel sprouts with cornbread was awesome. The portions were large and I brought half my food home. Everyone enjoyed their food. The waitstaff was informative and attentive. We will be back for sure.

Amazing! The chef Sai is a gentleman and flavors explode in your mouth. High quality and outstanding value in a beachfront setting.

As always, DeWolf never fails to deliver great food with fantastic service. Our last visit, we started at the bar. We thoroughly enjoyed our well crafted cocktails prepared by Luc and Sandy. The "Comfort Zone" is amazing!!! Later, we were directed upstairs to a lovely table, and greeted by the most delightful waiter. He was on point and very knowledgable about the menu and Chefs features. We had the fried green tomato salad with the lobster and avocado, fabulous to start. Then we ordered the seafood stew as well as the swordfish entree. All dishes were cleverly crafted and executed perfectly!!! Hats off to Chef Sai, and thank you Logan for a fantastic evening!! Well done DeWolf staff, we will see you again soon!!!

Uninspired Food We had not been to Dewolf Tavern is a few years and wanted to give this local favorite another try. Dewolf was promoting a three course prefixed menu special and we thought that might be interesting to see what was being offered, beyond the standard menu options. The prefix was very uninspiring and looked more like a list of appetizers and not dinner options. For example for a main course you could choose steamed mussels with French fries, really? French fries with mussels? Or how about a meatball entry, ahh, nope, not for $22.00. We decided to stick with the main menu. I had started with the seafood chowder that was very fishy smelling and tasting, which tends to mean either frozen seafood was used or it was old. I did not finish this. For main entries my wife went for the Naan Philly Filet Mignon sandwich, which was actually a very nice sandwich. I unfortunately selected the swordfish. The swordfish steak was filleted into two smaller thin pieces, which I had never seen done to swordfish. As a result it was dried out and flavorless. As a side it is served with a salted cod-coconut rice hash. Let me just say, gross. The mix of chopped salted cod and chopped coconut in rice was just a horrible tasting combination. Unfortunately Dewolf Tavern has not improved at all over the years and after this experience I am surprise it is still open with this menu. Other than the great location and old tavern charm, I cannot recommend this as a local favorite other than a stop at the bar for a quick drink

Ugh, I probably should have just walked out. This is the kind of place for 60+ yacht crowd who doesn't mind overpaying for being right on the waterfront and a "classy" atmosphere. The menu is odd (Naan pizza and traditional seafood??), it didn't entice me to order any food so I can't comment on that aspect. They do have some craft beers to drink, but boy are they a ripoff. $8 for a Foolproof IPA. Not a double IPA, just their regular old one, which is not what we ordered. They had apparently failed to change the tap handles or inform the staff that the keg was a different beer. I don't know if we were charged for the double or not since the receipt just said "foolproof." Either we got overcharged or they have ridiculously high beer prices.

Great view - Good Food. Let's start by saying shore-side dining option in Bristol leave a little to be desired. DeWolf is by far the best waterfront restaurant in Bristol. I enjoyed the meal; the server was attentive and the space is beautiful. The Indian influences within the menu are refreshing and I enjoyed my Tandoori chicken. I would say though that the food did not blow me away, it was good but I feel this is an instance where the chef holds himself back to accommodate the palate of the average person visiting and dining in Bristol ... that is to say the 60+ crowd. I wonder if I were to ask if they could spice it up a bit. I will alway pick Dewolf when dining in Bristol and unless you want to be sorely disappointed I would recommend you do the same.

I went here on a Friday afternoon with my daughter. We were seated outside and were the only people there other than 3 at the bar. It took about ten minutes to be greeted by the waitress, I ordered a cocktail called at the races (an interesting concoction of watermelon juice, whiskey, mint and grapefruit bitters) which took at least another ten minutes to come. We shared steamed clams and steamed mussel apps. The clams were delicious but the mussels were very large and the broth was lacking in flavor. We then tried the lobster popover which was good but would have been better with a nice flaky pastry, and the lobster, shrimp, scallop and salmon sandwich with house made chips. The sandwich was very flavorful and the chips were nice and crispy. As a side we got the brussel sprouts with corn bread which was amazing. The water view was beautiful and overall the meal was enjoyable. My only complaint would be that I don't feel that a 20+ minute wait for beverages in an empty and pricey restaurant is appropriate.

We went there for our anniversary and thought the food was ok----- my wife got an over priced steak and I got a salad that was fair and a chicken dish that was ok. During all this I had to wheather an incompetent waiter who first brought the wrong salad then made me wait 15 minutes for the right one and didn't apologize or offer some kind of comp-- what an idiot I couldn't stand this guy, hopefully he is not there anymore. I talked to the manager on duty on my way out and I have to say she was awesome. She apologized for the incompetent waiter and offed me a comp. I was so impressed with her, we will give it another try.

Stopped by for restaurant week and I was not disappointed. The shaved steak sandwich was very good. The service was great and I will be returning to try other items from the menu.

Fabulous restaurant on the great Bristol waters. Had the lobster, which was okay, but again this is my first time eating real lobster so I may not be a huge fan of it, but the lobster made a good meal. Our server was super friendly and sweet. Great variety of food and if you enjoy seafood, this is the place to go. The prices aren't too bad, but it is worth the splurge.

Went here for a birthday dinner . We chose it because it offered seafood options for the grandparents and vegetarian options for me. To drink I had a blueberry margarita , while the drink was fine, it was mixed with Jose Cuervo (something I did not notice) and cost $12. Totally over priced. They had a special local cheese plate that was delicious, but sadly that was the only food we enjoyed. Two people ordered the Sunday lobster special, which came with a soup or salad option. The waitress did not time anything properly, so there was a wait for the cheese, a wait for the soup/ salad, and then a long wait for the main course. One lobster was brought to the table, along with the Duck Confi, and Egg Fetichni. The waitress explained that the other lobster did not come with the side that had been ordered, so it was going to be a minute. Now mind you, the waitress came to our table during the soup/ salad course to confirm that he wanted french fries in place of mashed potatoes. So we waited for the second lobster to come back. By the time it did all of our food had cooled. My egg noodles were fine, nothing special. My partner felt the Duck Confi was mostly bone with little meat. But the real problem was the two lobsters. Both had to be sent back. The meat was literally stuck to the shell, that's how over cooked it was. The other one was rubbery and inedible. By that point we had been there over an hour and were fed up. Beyond that, dirty dishes were left on the table, drinks never refilled, a bus boy brought us bread when we were paying the bill, the whole thing felt like amateur hour. The meal was ruined, so I felt it should have been totally comped. We still ended up paying $70. Total waste of money.

I just moved to bristol a few months ago from the cape. This place was like a taste of home. The dirty martinis were AMAZING! Blue cheese stuffed olives, i was like a kid in a candy store. I can not wait to go enjoy all the food i saw.

My husband and I were married at Bristol Harbor Inn, and the food/bar went through DeWolf Tavern. I was a regular there back when I lived in Bristol, and loved having them cater our wedding! The food was amazing (as always) and the service was perfect. I have never had a disappointing meal from there, and our wedding was no exception! Many of our guests visited DeWolf during the weekend, and they all raved about the food. Thank you for helping to make our wedding weekend extra special, and going the extra mile!

After hearing so many great things about Dewolf Tavern, we were eager to try it. Especially since "New American meets Indian" sounds practically like heaven to my wife and I. It was... OK. The lobster popover is very delicious, though the popover wasn't super hot and super crispy like a great one is. We tried the vegetable pakoras, skirt steak, Tawa salmon, and bacon wrapped scallops (I'm a sucker for these and was intrigued by the Indian take on them) were all good but not great. Nothing bad to say, but nothing great or "to-die-for" either. And the service as rather impersonal and inconsistent.

I just returned for dinner and had one of the best meals around! We loved everything we had and cannot wait to return again soon. The butternut squash & ricotta flatbread was really good for an appetizer and the tandoor chicken and scallop entrees were also very good.

We went to Dewolf Tavern for the first time this past week and it was very good. The place has a wonderful quiet atmosphere and love the old building. Three of us ordered and naan philly cheese steak and all liked it very much. Our waiter was friendly and humorous and recently moved to RI from Mississippi (mother is a professor at RWU). There were lots of other things on the menu which I want to try and also want to see the view during the daytime as the are right on the water, so we will be back. I also liked that I had a certificate from restaurant.com and would have liked it even more if I had remembered it was in my pocket and I had used it! Next time.

We had my daughter's wedding reception at the DeWolf Tavern and had an unequivocally excellent experience. Chef Sai met with us before the event and did the (amazing) cooking during the reception. It was clear he cared deeply about making the event memorable. Alicia Fay, the planner, did an outstanding job recommending menu items and ensuring all of the bases were covered. She was tremendously responsive, helpful, and insightful during the entire process. Our go-to person during the event, Vinny, couldn't have been better. He anticipated every need and helped make sure everything went smoothly. The food was AMAZING. Everything from the passed hors d'oeuvres (the baby lamb chops, shrimp pakora, crab cakes and pea and potato croquettes were KILLER), the raw bar, the entrees and open bar were perfect. All of our guests raved about the food and were very impressed with the originality of the preparations. One of our guests is the maitre'd at a famous NYC steakhouse. He had the filet mignon and commented that he's NEVER had a better steak! We've had lunch and dinner at DeWolf tavern and have always had a great experience. We've also just gone there for cocktails and had a wonderful time. I can't recommend DeWolf highly enough. They have my thanks for making our daughter's wedding day such a fantastic event.

This is one of a kind restaurant at the water front with the appetizers and Entres half American half Indian. The combination is just unbelievably delicious. Drinks are fantastic. Little pricey but worth all the money considering the location, ambiance and quality of food. If you eat/drink too much and can't drive back home, there is a hotel right across from it :)

I dont care if its busy it took 1.5 hour to seat a party of two. And then an extra 1/2 with out service or even checking in for drinks or Introduction . All that for over priced pub food. Shame on me. Will never go again. Left and went to aidans

Random stop on a Sunday afternoon with my friend, so glad we made the choice, as we r borderline vegetarians! Who woulda thought alot of the menu was veggie! Taste plate of Brussels were amazing, and the kale salad. OH MY GOD , it had charred olives and sunflower seeds and cornbread crouton! I woulda given 5 stars but my naan pizza was undercooked and my wine had a small branch of sorts in the bottom , although the cab sav was good Good prices too!

It really pains me to have to write this review. My husband and I have adored this place for years, but the service that we received this past Friday evening was so totally unacceptable that I feel obliged to write something. We sat down at the bar and ordered drinks and were then offered a menu. We ordered three appetizers/small plates. The service up to this point was great. Food was excellent as always. Once we got our food, things things really went off track. Despite there being only a few other people at the bar, it was difficult to get the attention of the two bartenders to even order another drink let alone any additional food (which we had hoped to order). We were finally able to get some attention to get another round of drinks, but the staff could not have seemed any more disinterested in getting our drinks or even making eye contact with us so that we could ask for a menu again. Two women to one side of us at the bar made similar remarks about the lackluster bar service. The main bartender seemed like this was the last place he wanted to be and spent the next hour talking (very loudly) to a man next to us about what kind of marijuana he liked to smoke and what kind of marijuana this man sitting at the bar grew and apparently sold. Meanwhile we were desperate to get out of there, but could not so much as make any kind of eye contact with the bartender to get our check, despite holding my credit card out in front of me rather obnoxiously. Finally, we had enough and my husband interrupted the conversation to demand our check immediately. The man with whom he was conversing belligerently turned to us and very rudely demanded to know what our problem was... continuing to make nasty comments to my husband and I as we scrambled to pay our bill and get out of there. Needless to say, I expect a lot more from a place like this. I expect excellent service, great food, and I certainly expect not to be belligerently yelled at by classless drug peddling patrons at the bar. We did speak to the manager and the host on the way out. Both were very apologetic and very nice, but I'm still not sure if I'll ever go back to DeWolf after this experience. I really thought this place had a bit more class.

stopped in after catching a play by the 2nd story playhouse. We did not eat dinner but had selections from the raw bar. They serve their oysters with a peppercorn balsalmic mignonette that was frozen like a granita, so didn't spill all over you. The cocktail sauce to go with the shrimp was excellent. Our bartender, Eli, was wonderful. Selections for beer on tap was okay. Overall great ambience, great experience. Reasonably priced, too.

I held my parent's 50th wedding anniversary here. Food was good and plentiful for a 30 person buffet. The service was spot on and communicative. Great location with parking being the only difficulty.

Probably one of the best restaurants in town if not the best. The atmosphere is very classy and the meals were incredible. I really liked how the wait staff consistently kept our water glasses full. The only problem I had with the meal was that my Filet Magnon was extremely rare. I did ask for medium rare but what I got was very rare. However my boyfriends filet magnon was phenomenal and was more of what I was looking for. I'll definitely try Dewolf again soon.

Food was good but service was PAINFULLY slow. Went in on a Sunday for lunch. I had the chef salad w grilled chicken added to it. I loved the salad. It was a very generous size w lots of fresh fruit (raspberries/strawberries/oranges) there was also a good amount of avocado slices, shredded chicken and a hard boiled egg. It took almost an hour for 1 salad and 2 sandwiches to come out, and the waitress never even apologized, which is bad business IMO. There were only a few other tables at the time, but I overheard the people behind us complaining about the slow service too (it was taking them forever to get their bill and cash out) Not going to rush to get back there anytime soon.

Going over the bridge from Newport in any direction is a task for dinner. The food was unique, delectable and affordable. Ate at the bar with Luke as our server, he is proficient with the menu and a valid mixologist. Tandoor roasted chicken is a must! Lamb chops not too shabby either.

Stopped in for breakfast this morning between spa appointments. There were only two other people seated for breakfast yet the waitress did not acknowledge me after passing me several times. At last she told me to just sit anywhere. I did. A waiter came over and handed me a wine menu and asked me if I wanted anything to drink. I asked for tea. He asked-- What kind? Regular or iced? I asked what kind of hot tea they had. He replied-- We have all kinds of tea. I asked for a menu (in lieu of the wine menu he'd already given me. Waiter returned with menu. I ordered a French press of Earl Grey tea. The waiter came over and pressed my tea but did not give me a cup, sweetener, or cream. I asked and received these essentials. I then ordered the "Tavern Breakfast"-- 2 eggs, 2 slices of bacon, a sausage link, home fries, and my choice of French toast or a pancake. Waiter warned me they were out of sweet bread so the French toast wouldn't be very good. I opted for the pancake and scrambled eggs. FIVE MINUTES LATER: My food (except the pancake) arrived. There is no possible way my food could have been prepared fresh-- and it did not look fresh. What's more, the two eggs were actually two tablespoons of scrambled eggs, the sausage link was a patty the size of a half dollar, and the two slices of bacon were actually one slice folded in half. The home fries were soggy and flavorless. The pancake, when it arrived, was actually pretty good. I finished my meal in under 30 minutes and paid my $18 bill with a $2 tip. I have had fast food that outclasses this experience.

Stopped here on a random Subday for a Bloody Mary. It was delicious (and pricey). But it's a fancy pants place, so it was expected. While there, we learned it was Newport Restaurant Week so we came back a few hours later for dinner. The menu is an interesting mix, with several Indian options that seemed out of place yet delicious. We tried the special, which was a whole fish cooked with some delicious spices and served head and tail still on. Great presentation, and the waitress even offered to fillet it for us if we wanted. Also reed the seafood stew which was all seafood. Lobster, mussels, clams. Yum! The dessert was delicious. I'd go back! Thanks for a fun Sunday, Dewolf's!

Went to DeWolf last week for a night out with friends, and we were more than impressed. The four of us sat at the bar and our bartender, Luke, was an exceptional mixologist and was able to recommend drinks for all four of us. Our dinner was outstanding and the atmosphere was perfect. We will most definitely be back to DeWolf for our next outing.

I was super disappointed in my experience at Dewolf Tavern and I had such high hopes! First off, we called to make a phone reservation were told that there were no tables available, then we simply asked, well is there anything for x:xx time? And the answer was yes. Whaatt? Then when we got there later, the reservation was nowhere to be found---but we were able to get a table. Next up, Appetizers. The wrong appetizer was brought to our table, but the server did profusely apologize. While the shrimp in the salad were crispy & offered a fabulous dipping sauce, the lettuce was wilted--it looked like it had been plated & sat in the refrigerator for way to long. The samosas had potential with the inside meat filling being tasty, but the outer dough tasted more like a crab rangoon shell than a dough filled with spices reminiscent of a samosa. Main Dish: The steak was fine, but nothing spectacular. The mashed potatoes weren't bad, but the weren't delicious and perhaps had been over-blended. The major disappointment was the Tandoor Roasted Pullet Chicken Sandwich, which was described as "avocado, mango sour cream, cheddar in Naan bread with house made potato chips." Well I'm not sure what happened, but there was exactly 0 pieces of avocado. Zero. Seriously????? Don't advertise avocado if you're not going to use it. The chicken itself tasted as if it had been boiled & the mango flavor was non-existent. In eating the cheddar Naan separately---there was absolutely no cheddar flavor that I could detect---but perhaps it was there? I had seen the Chef at the Providence Home Show last year & had been really intrigued after tasting the samples & watching the demonstration. However, I won't be going back after this experience which is really too bad because I love contemporary cusine---particularly when it sometimes takes an Indian spin. Beautiful interior & great decor, but food, alas, is not worth it.

Lunch Food menu is really great (4 stars) and everything tasted very good. SERVICE SUCKS...the waitress had NO CLUE what was on the menu, no idea about what the bar had to offer and kept making things up.. Breakfast service (provided as a continental buffet for the hotel next door) was the worst!!! ...dont even bother, go somewhere else in town for Bkfast.

Dewolf is our go to for special events. We went last night for our 2nd wedding anniversary and had the most wonderful experience. Kate made sure we had a special night, with a great table and we even got candles on our dessert unprompted! Service was top notch, food was excellent. Highly recommend the flat iron steak dish. Thanks for making our special night memorable.

After hearing so many good things, I was excited to visit Dewolf for breakfast. They had 2 decently sized parties and a couple small tables- but they certainly weren't busy. We asked the hostess to be seated outside (only one party was sat out there). She seemed very confused by this request and unsure of how to answer. She mumbled something about it being reserved and quickly started walking to a table inside. I suppose that was our cue to follow her.... It was obvious she had no idea where she was going to seat us although many tables were available. She plopped us down at a table that was about 5 inches from a table of 4 people. They left a few minutes later and we were left next to a filthy table for most of our stay. Eventually a waitress came over to drop off menus and tell us our actual server would be with us soon. A couple minutes later our server appeared. We ordered coffee, juice and water. She came back with a tray of our drinks and placed it behind her, ON THE DIRTY TABLE. Then gave us our drinks... Well the ones she didn't forget to bring. We ordered our meal. I asked if the French toast was big enough for a full meal and she said "oh my gosh yes! It's huge!" So I ordered that. Our food appeared about 15 minutes later (no one checked on us or offered to refill our coffee while we waited). The French toast, although delicious, was two very small and very thin pieces of bread. I would expect this to be considered a side item, to be ordered along with something else. During our meal our waitress never checked on us. The hostess continued to scramble around the restaurant anytime new guests arrived. I overheard a party become upset with her after she told them they would have to wait to be seated (so many clean tables available!). They asked to sit outside for a second time and she sat them outside. Wait, what happened to the patio being reserved? A manager cleared our dishes after 10minutes of us waiting. We had to find our waitress to get us the bill after another 10 minutes of waiting. She was not concerned with whether or not we enjoyed our visit although she was smiling. I guess that's the standard of service there. The only good thing I have to say is that the coffee was great and the interior of the building is rustic, yet charming. Service poor. Management poor. Hostess confused. Chaotic when they're slow, I can only imagine when they're busy. Unfortunately I won't be back.

When my husband and I met seven years ago, our first summer together was spent gallivanting around Rhode Island, especially in and around all our beautiful towns on the water. We spent most of our time in Newport, but occasionally traveled to gorgeous Bristol in order to hang out at Colt State Park. I remember one night after a fun day throwing a softball around at the park, we decided to head to what is perhaps Bristol's most celebrated restaurant, DeWolf Tavern, for a semi-fancy dinner. DeWolf Tavern is right on the water in a gorgeous building, and really, as far as restaurant location and atmosphere, it can't be beat. Seven years ago, we had a really expensive meal (nearly 200 dollars and I don't even drink!) that wasn't that great, and we vowed to never go back there again. Well fast forward seven years, and based on rave reviews from many friends who have dined there in the past few years, we decided to give it another chance. In fact, our friends were shocked when we told our story of seven years ago- they said it was actually quite affordable and the food was amazing. Hoping they were right, we made the 25 minute drive to Bristol a few Saturday nights ago to give the acclaimed DeWolf Tavern another chance. I am so glad we did. . . based on our meal that night, DeWolf Tavern has officially made it into my top five of casual but upscale Rhode Island restaurants. Seriously- I want to go back tonight! DeWolf Tavern is unique in that it features Indian/New England fusion cuisine. In other words, what you will find on their menu is lots of seafood, steak and other New England favorites spiced with Indian flavors or prepared according to Indian cooking methods, such as use of a tandoori oven. When we went there seven years ago, the concept was the same. I don't exactly know what happened between now and then, but let's just say they officially do Indian fusion cuisine right! We had a reservation for 8 o' clock and were seated immediately. The restaurant was very busy, and it was definitely full despite how huge it is. It is two floors, with a more casual downstairs dining area with a bar and a more formal upstairs (also with a smaller, less busy bar!). One feature I thought was so cool was the exposed beams and piping you could see, given we were seated upstairs. It gave the place a very rustic feel, which I liked. Now, the real reason I was willing to give DeWolf Tavern another chance was the fact that their online menu made it quite clear this place was extremely vegetarian friendly. Not only were there vegetarian apps and salads to pick from, but they had a whole section devoted to vegetarian entrees, including a pasta option and a sandwich option. The best part though? All of their sides are vegetarian, and you could pick any three sides to create your own vegetarian entrée! Our waitress was extremely helpful, and she checked with the chefs which of the sides were vegan or could be made so. Out of the three I asked about (the corn hash, the lentils, and the broccoli rabe), only the hash wasn't vegan (it had butter in it), but they could make it vegan for me! After a harrowing decision-making process, I decided to get an entrée composed of the braised black lentils, the native corn and poblano hash (veganized), and the veggie fries. I also needed to get a separate side order of cauliflower manchurian because I love the stuff! The cauliflower manchurian was sort of like an appetizer for me. My husband and I devoured these amazing florets coated in a sweet and spicy Asian sauce. I would get this again in a heartbeat. My entrée was huge. . . and delicious! The lentils were simple in terms of flavor, but they were hearty and warming. The corn hash, which was essentially fresh sautéed corn with some peppery spice, was perfect-nice and sweet from the fresh kernels with a pop of heat. My favorite thing though were the mixed veggie fries- in the mix were sweet potatoes, onions, bell peppers, cauliflower and potatoes, all nicely "french-fried" and eaten of course with copious amounts of ketchup. I ate every single thing, with the exception of some of the hash which I left so my husband could have some! We didn't have dessert, but based on what I saw, they did have vegan and gluten-free options in the form of a few sorbet flavors. I hate sorbet, so I passed. All in all, I wish I could go back to DeWolf Tavern tonight, as I said earlier. There are so many of the veggie sides I am dying to try that I haven't yet, and I am giddy over the possible vegan entrée combinations I could produce! The sercive was outstanding, the food was plentiful and amazingly tasty, and the atmosphere is the perfect blend of fancy and rustic. The DeWolf Tavern has officially redeemed itself in a big way. DeWolf Tavern- I'll be back. I promise. And it won't take me another seven years.

Love this place! The food is awesome and the location is simply beautiful. Menu changes with seasonality, but there are a few items that remain consistently on the menu and consistently good. Chef Shai, puts an Indian spin on his creations. The Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich is served on Naan bread and is delicious an more than one person can eat. Some of our favorites are the Brussel Sprout Hash (Yum, Yum!), the Chorizo Crusted Cod and my personal favorite the Tavern Riblets with Mashed Potatoes. The owners are usually there eating unless they are out of town....they are very lovely people! I can't say enough!

Review is definitely enhanced because my BFF and I were there on a near-perfect summer early evening. We sat outside on the lower deck and soaked up the harbor view. What a relaxing and beautiful spot. For food/beverage, we had the pear drink (not on menu, but recommended by our server) and the Island Rum Runner. Delicious on both accounts! The Rum Runner has tiny Maine blueberries in the bottom. 'Twas a bit strong, but wonderful. (note: I do not often drink liquor.) We also split the saffron white wine steamed mussels and the truffle oil, arugala and Parma naan pizza. We stopped talking for the remainder of the meal. Totally engrossed in the food. Nice spot. Enjoyed our time. Service was spot-on to start the experience, but definitely dwindled as our meal progressed.

Meh. That's what I give it. Somewhere between 3 and 4 stars. Nothing was wrong with it - but it wasn't astronomically great, either. And, for the price, there is most definitely better food to be had in Rhode Island. Again, solid but not fantastic. I had sangria - which had a great, unique taste. Hubs didn't love it...partially because it tasted more like a mai tai (fruity and sweet) than true sangria. As a starter, we shared the Shrimp Pakora. The shrimp were fresh and juicy, and I was pleased that they were 'jumbo' sized but not tasteless. For dinner, I had the Tandoor roasted lobster. It was a different take (more like grilled than boiled). The mashed potatoes were tasty, and I enjoyed everything. I likely should have chosen something more true to their style/cuisine. My husband had the tandoori marinated swordfish tips and they were tasty. Note on the seating: We sat in the back outside patio, which was lovely but a little more casual. I think next time we would try to sit upstairs, or on their (little known) upstairs deck!

My boyfriend and I went here during restaurant week and had an enjoyable experience. While the food was slightly overpriced (even by restaurant week standards), we both walked away relatively happy. My salad was on the small side, but the 1/2 off wines definitely made up for it! My dinner was a pumpkin alfredo pasta, which was very tasty. My boyfriend (a real gung-ho meat lover) ordered the steak. He was pretty disappointed that "Medium rare" came out more like "medium- well done), but he did enjoy his mashed potatoes. The dessert was good, and the atmosphere was romantic and nice. I bet it's even more beautiful when it's not winter!

Went here with my mom for a birthday linch. I have been wanting to try this place for a while and was awfully dissapointed. First off, I ende up having to kill 3 flies that were swarming around our table (no, we weren't sitting outside) and there was still more flies swarming around! Then the food also was a let down. We had the chowder which was underseasoned and bland. I ordered a pork dish and the waitress brought me chicken instead. The positive was that the chicken dish came with this awesome brussel sprout hash. Another positive to the meal? One of the best salads ever. It was a kale and romaine salad seriously to die for. Aside from the salad and the hash, i wasn't impressed at all

In a word: YUM! Now, I'll start off by saying we came here for the first time with a Groupon in hand, which got us over half off what we would have normally paid. Therefore, our meal of epic proportions would have been highly unlikely if it had been at the normal restaurant price. First, the atmosphere: We sat in the downstairs bar area, which had gorgeous stone walls, exposed beam ceilings, and an entire wall of wine bottles. We were seated at the first table near the door, which made us a little bit worried that we might feel the cold drafts from outside each time the door was opened, but thankfully they did a very good job of keeping the warm in and the cold out! Second, the service: Our waitress was pleasant, although she seemed a bit rehearsed and didn't make much of an attempt at conversing with us. She was very nice and attentive, and got our entire order correct, so she scores full points anyway. The gentleman who was helping her by clearing plates and refilling water glasses was extremely friendly and played along very well with our joking. Third, and most important, the food: Ohhh my gosh was it delicious! Three out of four of us ordered the seafood chowder, which was loaded up with clams, scallops, shrimp, and lobster, and was just plain delicious! Boyfriend ordered the tomato bique, which I tasted, and was also very good.... but no comparison to the chowder! For the second course, the other three at the table ordered the lobster popover. I'd had a long debate with myself whether to also order the popover, or go with my all-time favorite food: gnocchi. I went with the gnocchi so I wouldn't be left forever wondering if it could have been the best gnocchi of my life, and the boyfriend promised I could try his lobster popover. The gnocchi was extremely delicious... sweet potato gnocchi with braised short ribs; perfectly melt-in-your-mouth soft and delicious. However, I have to admit that I was pretty jealous of the lobster popovers! I had some of my boyfriend's, and it was fantastic! Next time, I will have to just have the lobster popover and the gnocchi as my full meal! All four of us ordered the filet (medium rare) as our entree. The steak was delicious, and it was served with some of the creamiest, most flavorful mashed potatoes I've had. Despite having already eaten two courses and bread, we each cleaned our plates! For dessert, we each ordered the creme brulee, which was also dynamite! Cool and creamy on the bottom, and warm and crunchy on top. Just. Awesome. Add to all of this the fact that we each got an included glass of beer or wine, and it was also 1/2 price bottle of wine night, and we left as four very well-fed and well-wined happy customers! The next time we're looking for a fancy date night, we will definitely consider returning to Dewolf! We'll likely be spending a bit more (or eating less) without the half-off Groupon and wine deal, but I think if we were to go back on a warm summer day and sit outside by the water, it just might be worth the extra price!

Fantastic Dinner and Great Conversation! I stopped into Dewolf Tavern on a Thursday night for a solo dinner. Not only was I treated to a delicious meal at the bar, the bar tender, Luke was entertaining and knowledgeable about the menu - which made a meal for one very enjoyable. Upon suggestion I ordered the Tandoori Marinated Swordfish with couscous and a roasted red pepper, sunflower & sesame seed sauce. One of the best swordfish dishes I have had in years. I also ordered a side of Brussels Sprout Cornbread Hash - I think I could live off of this dish! A little sweet, a little savory and a lot of good! Even if you don't think you like Brussels sprouts its a must try. I think I might be putting Dewolf on a regular rotation. Great Eats!

Caution: We recently contracted with DeWolfe for a rehearsal dinner. While a relatively modest event (approx 33 guests), we had a difficult time dealing with their event coordinator, requiring an inordinate number of emails/phone calls to get it planned. During the reception, we had wanted an open bar, but our guests were charged for drinks before we realized it was happening. To make matters worse, a pre-Bmevent deposit was not credited to my final bill and then my credit card was overcharged on the final billing. Calls to the restaurant management to voice my complaints have, thus far, gone unanswered, necessitating the filing of a dispute with my credit card company. While the food and ambience were ok, way too much hassle.

I really, really like Dewolf Tavern So why a 3 star not a 4 or 5? What makes me hesitate when the idea of going to Dewolf comes up? Service and price. I've been several times and it seems like each time the service is worse. The hostesses are so rude that it's almost funny. The wait staff just cant really execute. I've had lunch there when there are three tables and still had to wait for a fresh drink or ketchup. That just isn't okay at these prices. I also want to point out that the bar staff has always been fantastic in my experience. Knowledgeable about the menu and drinks and the right mix of friendly without being overbearing. Its the hostesses and waiters/waitresses that cannot get out of their own way. Now on the plus side everything I've ever had there has been excellent. I particularly love the steak sandwich. Not sure if they're still doing $1 oysters on Monday nights but that is a blast as well. Nan Pizza is also a big winner. The location is great for a date and they have a beautiful outdoor seating area that makes up for the service. I really hope the management takes some of these reviews to heart and turns it around, I'd like to go more often but frankly it can be stressful eating there and I no need that.

Disclaimer: it can be hit or miss. However, the history location, and cauliflower manchurian make up for any inconsistencies in food or service we've ever experienced. Dollar oysters on Mondays. Prix Fix options on Sundays (and not sure about other days of the week). Nice beer and wine selection. Great bar area if you prefer that to a table - go with the downstairs bar. Eat at a table downstairs or upstairs. Great for dinner with Granny, the 'rents, business colleagues, or an intimate dinner for two. Huge plus: gorgeous water views from some of the tables upstairs - make reservations for sunset, you will not be sorry. Now onto the food. I describe their menu as French-Indian fusion. Classically prepared with a left turn to delicious. There are still a few safe options for those wary of flavor and spice, but way play it safe? We often go and make a meal out of apps. There is also a great selection for those vegetarians and pescetarians among you which includes an awesome selection of sea food and a variety of plant-based sides to mix and match to an entree, or straight up plant-only entree options. Worth a try if you're in the area, and even worth the drive out if you're not.

Good, not great. Despite a lot of negative reviews on service, ours was fine. Hard to beat the ambiance and views. Outdoor seating, right on the water! Dinner is the main reason for the three stars. Started with the shrimp and pea soup, both unbelievably good. Filet, not so much. Was good enough to finish as even a bad filet beats out some other cuts, but was not even close to excellent. One thing i found strange was that the filet was dressed with "short rib drippings." Sounded great, however what was delivered appeared to be deli roast beef cut up? What....it was clearly not the consistency of short ribs, and was rubbery like overcooked roast beef. Order creme brûlée and it was served ice cold? It was hard to say if the was intentional or not. Theres an outside chance they hit it with a torch for a few seconds, but highly suspect. All in all, I would return. If not for dinner, then certainly for drinks on the patio to enjoy the views. I could have missed it on the menu, but we had to asked if they made sangria, which they do. Do yourself a favor and order their "beer sangria." Yes, sounds weird I know, but surprisingly good.

DeWolfe....DeYuck....3rd time here. So many bad things happened (party of 6) so not sure where to start. They definitely had an off night. The first 2 times were good. I will never go back though. Tonight was supposed to be a special night. NY steaks were tough, service was very slow, had leftovers that they were supposed to wrap up and never returned, brought out the wrong meal for one which they had to remake (they thankfully took it off the bill), lobster popovers had a good amount of lobster but minimum pop, fries were over-salted, and the fried quail dish was disappointing.

Couldn't ask for a more picturesque and delicious dinner of a summer night. Ended up splitting the lobster popovers, which are mouthwatering, to say the least. I could of just had a huge batch of them for my entree! For my entree, I went with the Naan "Philly" Filet Mignon Sandwich and again, just mouthwatering and delicious. I feel like the folks down in Philly need to take a cue from this chef at DeWolf, but really, it's that's good.. Add to that a few of their specialty cocktails and watcing the sun set down on Bristol Harbor - again, you can't ask for a better dinner. The ambiance, service and food can't be beat. If you're in the area, Dewolf is a must! Make sure you get a seat outside though, the views are fantastic!

This place has so much potential and just fails to live up to it. We hadnt been in a year (when we had a negative 5 star experience) but since we had experience many 5 star nights, we were excited when we got invited to go to dinner with a large group here last week. We came away thinking that this place is definitely so so. The service, while not great, was decent. I had wine and my wife had a martini which she said was nicely prepared. For dinner, we split a pizza which was decent and I had the chicken. While they advertise this as being a tandoori chicken, I just felt that the fusion aspect didnt work. There was a layer of cheese on top of the chicken that just overpowered the tandoori taste. All in all I am not sure if we will be back anytime soon with persimmon around the corner

DeWolf is one of the nicer places to eat in Bristol. It's dimly lit, and while there's a nice bar downstairs, there's a much prettier dining room upstairs. I'm a big fan of the filet mignon here. Not just for the steak, but for the amazing peapods served with the filet. The whole dish is drizzled with steak juice (probably mixed with a little lemon juice and garlic) and is simply amazing. I've also had a few desserts here, but it's hard to make a review since they change them on a daily basis. My favorite has been the blueberry parfait. It was all fresh blueberries with cream and possibly a little booze. Overall, DeWolf is a great place for a nice quiet romantic dinner, and in the summer they have some pretty amazing views, since they're right on the water.

Capable of greatness - often settles for "meh." The story behind Dewolf is great - old factory building on the water, classic New England fine dining w/ a head chef from India. Many of the dishes have a interesting "twist" - which I like. The execution of these dishes has varied significantly from visit to visit. I think that might explain some of the more middling reviews here. Also, as someone how chooses to have a drink at the bar from time to time (nice change in atmosphere from the other local options - and they have a nice "craft beer" menu along w/ a decent wine list) I notice a regular turn over in staff. Perhaps this lack of consistency explains some of the truly negative, "service" based reviews found here. If nothing else - stop by for a craft beer and the "Naan CheeseSteak" sandwich - its a masterpiece (of course I love sliced steak, horseradish & Naan bread - the combo is [slightly greasified] heaven.) Also - the homemade potato chips served alongside should come w/ everything - they're that good. Could easily be a "must visit" - just needs to find more consistent footing night in and night out. One more thing: if you're passing on the sandwich and having an entree - order a side of the cauliflower. That might sound weird (unless you love cauliflower) but its incredible. Slightly breaded in chickpea flower and covered in a tangy bbq-inspired sauce. It works as a side OR an appetizer.

Eclectic, limited menu. I think that entrees ( at these prices) should come with sides. When I inquired about the offerings I was told "the chef has the menu the way that he likes it and does not make changes". If I had not been with local friends I would have walked. I am still looking for a dinner restaurant in Bristol that I want to go back to for a second time.

I have had a few positive dinner experiences at DeWolf but my wife and I thought we would try their breakfast. We stood at the hostess' table for several minutes hearing joking and laughing from people in the kitchen but were never greeted. In the meantime, the phone continually rang and was never answered. After then walking around the bar area trying to get someone's attention without success, we left to dine at another local restaurant. Why advertise breakfast if you have no interest in serving it?

I was skeptical to try DeWolf after reading all the negative reviews about the new menu - but inevitably, I was OH SO GLAD I came here! We stopped in a couple weeks ago after a nice walk around downtown Bristol. We sat at the bar where we were pleasantly greeted by the bartender. We chose to order food off both the regular menu and the half-price bar menu (available 4:30-6:30 Tues, Wed. and Thurs.) All I can say is WOWOWOWOWOW! I kid you not. $4 white wine and saffron mussels served with heaping portions of fresh baked bread, $4.50 smoked salmon, sour cream and caper flatbread pizza. Delicious chopped salad off of the dinner menu that included seasonal fruits and veggies and a goat cheese cream dressing, all served in a fresh baked, warm tortilla shell. I vow to come here once a week whenever I'm in town for as long as the include this special. Or at least to munch on the complimentary house-made kettle potato chips that are served daily at the bar. Also, the bartender told me that DeWolf does $1 oysters on Mondays, with about 3-7 varieties available each week. My new favorite place!!!

We came here last year for Mother's day and we came here this year for my wife's birthday. We order the raw bar but I don't think it worth $40, but my wife likes it, that's all it matters. I had the pulled chicken sandwich and my wife had the Philly steak sandwich and they were fantastic. The waitress was very nice too, but it took her awhile to get us some ketchup for the home made chips. All and all, it is a nice place to come for the special occasion.

We've only eaten here once and it was for brunch. We sat outside and enjoyed the wonderful view. The service was good and the food was good, but the prices led me to expect something truly great. I'm not exactly disappointed, but also not delighted.

Charcoal Tandoor Oven Roasted Natural Chicken: Tandoori marinated, cheddar, honey tomato sweet spice sauce, Brussels sprout cornbread hash. The hash is absolutely amazing and unique. The atomsphere is nicely done and above casual but not stuffy. My husband and I were very happy with the service and timing of our courses.

Really cool place to eat. Some of the tables outside are really close to the water and it's a great place to eat a nice meal and watch the sunset. There is an Indian accent to a number of the dishes on the menu. I like the filet mignon Philly cheese steak. Yum! Nice selection of appetizers as well. Good service, too.

My roommates parents came to visit for the weekend and they took the whole crowd to DeWolf Tavern for a nice meal. Like typical college students we "pre-gamed" the dinner. Anyways, we show up slightly buzzed and begin to mingle with the older people. So DeWilf is a nice fancy place close to the water in the center of Bristol. The service is okay, not as good as it should be for such a nice place. The food is good just not great. For the money this place is lacking, a lot. You can have just as good a time at many of the other restaurant in Bristol then to pay big money at this place.

Gosh, we've had at least 3 great meals and experiences here. However, I was taken here for Mother's Day. I cannot say they do special functions/holidays in the daytime well -- at all. It was very disjointed. Uneasy hostess, prickly waitstaff and we had the feeling all was not quite right in the kitchen and it was not. The entrees were cold and delivered unevenly. Perhaps they do dinner better. I only know we will be back for that sumptuous, cosy fall dinner with creative, local food in front of the fireplace. Hopefully!

Love DeWolf Tavern.....! But you have to be ready to open up your mind more than your wallet. They cook with flavors that are not so known .......but they do it the best ! the veggie sandwich is like nothing you've ever tasted before.......and thankfully, they always offer some complimentary homemade potato chips at the bar that are a nice alternative to gluten laden snacks. The atmosphere is amazing......it's overall one of my favorite restaurants in the country.

My wife and I had lunch today at the DeWolf Tavern and was a bit disappointed. The atmosphere was a little boring with the painted walls and ceiling being the same color. Our waitstaff sat us at a table that had been freshly varnished and it still had a slight odor. We decided to split some appetizers and ordered the lobster popover and the Asian ribs. The order took awhile even with the place being slightly bare. The popover was fine but lacked spice, the ribs were bland, nothing to write home about. All and all, just disappointed, since reading reviews from other yelpers.

great restaurant wonderful spot for a nice casual drink..we tend to eat at the bar and had great food and friendly bar service from Eli....the setting is inviting and relaxing..exposed stone walls, exposed beams, and on the water make this place a definite hot spot! Had dinner at Dewolf Tavern last night and sat outside on the patio. Very nice view of Bristol harbor. Our waiter was excellent and very attentive. My wife had a lobster and crab sandwich on naan. I had little necks on pasta with bread crumbs with a spicy red sauce. Portions where very good and the side salad was excellent.. I would recommend Dewolf Tavern on your next visit to Bristol, RI.

I was ready to give this place a 4 or 5-star rating after dining here with my mother in anticipation of booking a rehearsal dinner in a few months. I spoke with a most professional and obliging gentlemen named Jeremy Clouse... But it was after dealing (or not dealing) with their catering & banquet manager that I decided on this meager 1-star rating. They were terrible... TERRIBLE... to deal with when it comes to hospitality and customer service. First of all, I called back and spoke with Mr. Clouse personally and he told me he'd penciled me in and I'd be getting a call from "Kate Turner". After not hearing, my future mother-in-law called Dewolf, and was told by a very gracious "Andrew" (apparently Jeremy's replacement for front of house) that either Kate or Raphaella would be giving a call back. After 5 days of waiting, this call never came. She called back several times after that, only to sincere apologies and more empty promises that a call would come. Needless to say, none of us have ever heard from this mysterious "Kate Turner" or "Raphaella", and if they do indeed exist, they should be notified of this extreme lack of professionalism tout de suite! What a disappointment! (For them, mostly, because we would've been a hungry & thirsty party of 40, descending upon them at 3:00pm on a late-summer's eve ready for some good food and frivolity! We went with a neighboring restaurant instead, with very good hospitality and customer service.)

LOVED this place! Beautiful old stone building on the water was utterly charming. Adorable Sunday night bartender made me the most delicious drink ever: a pear sidecar I am still dreaming about. Lobster popover was fantastic, as were the scallops, lamb and yummy bread. The creme brûlée was disappointing as it was undercooked and gummy. The staff (including aforementioned delightful bartender) was really nice except our dour waitress was a total drag. At least we had fun trying to get her to smile.

I love this place! The food is always good, cooked well, and cooked with an interesting spin using indian spices. I've had both the 'Littlenecks and Linguine' and the 'Seafood Stew'. The littlenecks & linguine were wonderful and had a wonderful balance of the rabe and the clam sauce, and had just the right amount of pasta. The seafood stew was very tasty, lots of seafood. The crab, lobster, clams and mussels were cooked perfectly, although the shrimp were a little on the drier side...but still quite good. The naan pizzas are wonderful and the spicy shrimp appetizer too. Very interesting mix of ingredients in all their dishes, giving them a unique menu. The ambiance is nice as well, warm and cozy with a little sparkle!

I grew up in the East Bay area of Rhode Island and this is my favorite restaurant in the area. My family and I frequent the restaurant often. I have never had a poor meal here and the staff is very attentive and accomadating. I eat mostly vegetarian, so I am a big fan of their side dishes--you have to try the manchurian cauliflower! The restaurant is also very cozy and has beautiful views of Bristol harbor. Defintely check it on Mon-Thurs, when they offer a 3-course meal + 1 drink for $20. That price cannot be beat anywhere.

We had a groupon for DeWolf Tavern which is a restaurant we have dined at before. The Groupon was $49 for a 4 course dinner for two including a glass of wine or beer. We were shocked at the limited choice on wines - chardonnay or cab- really those are the only wines by the glass even if you are willing to pay? We had a groupon for the four course meal and although we never eat that much we were happy to head out to DeWolf in the winter and be seated right in front of the fireplace. We could hear that almost all tables around us had Groupons. The place was bustling and the wait staff had a tough time keeping up. The Groupon was purchased a few weeks ago and needed to be used by early April so it really helped to fill the restaurant in the Winter. My first course was the seafood chowder which was superb and the highlight of the meal. My husband has a shell fish allergy so he ended up with the salad which looked bland and he reported that it tasted that way. The next course was great - I had the lobster popover which was excellent and he had the sweet potato gnocchi which we thought was also very good. The lobster popover was loaded with lobster which was cushioned in a buttery popover and topped off with a sauce that was reminiscent of lobster bisque. We both enjoyed martinis during these early courses, which were well made. Now for the entree which unfortunately was a great disappointment. My husband said "this is not a filet". I would agree, it was a very thin piece of steak with a grey colored hue that appeared to have been steamed! Maybe tandoori beef? A table behind us who was not on the Groupon diet had a beautiful filet that was twice as thick and looked authentic. Lastly the dessert course - I ordered the chocolate pecan homemade ice cream and my husband who never orders dessert agreed to the sorbet which he does occasionally eat. We literally had one bite of each and they we mediocre. The chocolate was so faint in the ice cream that it caused me to conclude that it was not worth the calories, while the sorbet was better my husband hit it with "sweet and sour" so we waited 10 minutes for our nice but overworked waitress to prepare our bill. I think DeWolf is a great place that did themselves a disservice with this Groupon. While it clearly brought people in , most will never know the true quality of the cuisine....I wish I had ordered the chicken!

This restaurant is absolutely amazing. Everything I have had from here has been incredible. The Lobster Popovers are a must try. I have been here twice, both times because someone gave us gift cards. It is expensive, but as long as you know that you will not be disappointed. The chief has some indian inspirations in his dishes, which I love and was surprised by. The creme brulee is to die for.

Was here for a celebraton for two on a quiet weeknight. We liked our waitress, who was pleasant and knowledgeable. Service was good but not over the top great. The waitstaff in general could have done less huddling together talking and given more professional service to their patrons. Food was excellent. The seafood soup appetizer was light, milk-based and filled with seafood. The Shrimp Pakora was good, light , and the spicy-sweet dipping sauce was perfect with it. The seafood stew, (what can I say, that's what we like and I don't make it at home) was chock-full of seafood, in a light milky broth nicely spiced with Indian aromatics. The chocolate pecan ice cream was okay but the Denesi Expresso Cream Brulee was heavenly. The wine list is extensive and our waitress was good with questions and suggestions about what to order from it. The chef has done a nice job in lightening up New England fare with an Indian touch. We left satisfied but not stuffed. I would go to Deolfe Tavern again.

I was in Bristol for a wedding and decided to try DeWolf Tavern with a group of friends for lunch. I had the lobster popover that sounded delicious on the menu, but was underwhelming. One of my friends got a chicken sandwich and after getting a couple of bites into it, pulled a chicken bone out of his mouth that was about 3 inches long. I wouldn't have minded the food as much if we hadn't then had a very negative experience when paying the bill. We gave the waitress part of the bill in cash, and a few cards to split the remainder. She came back with the cards and slips, but the amounts were wrong. We asked if she was sure it was correct and she rudely insisted. She also said that they had not kept the original receipt after it had been divided, and there was no way to go backwards to sort it all out. We were all frustrated and ready to give up to avoid an argument, but went in to talk to the manager. The manager agreed that there was a mistake, blamed it on their computer, and spent about 15 minutes trying to correct it. I know mistakes happen, but it seems that they could have been a little more apologetic/accommodating about their mistake. An offer of a drink while we waited, or for a free appetizer if we returned goes a long way.

Maybe they just weren't prepared for the holiday but this did not live up to the hype I have heard. We waited 20 minutes to be seated when we had a reservation. The hostess was complaining to us that the patrons didn't know when to leave. She also said she needed to seat parties ahead of us because they were waiting longer. Ok, not sure why I made a reservation. We went upstairs and she then asked if I had requested a booth or table. I told her I had reserved the window table by the fireplace. She looked at the occupied tables of newly seated groups and shrugged while escorting us towards the back to a table in the center of the room and asked if that would be ok. Did I have a choice? No apology. Again, I am perplexed by the reason I made a reservation requesting and confirming a time and table. The waitress was mediocre. She told us the specials and returned a few minutes later for our order. One of our group ordered the said special and she informed him that they had run out. My appetizer of Tapioca salt cod cake was quite tasty but my husband had the signature lobster popover which proved to be tasteless and soggy. My scallops were cooked to perfection drizzled with a nice sauce but accompanied by soggy cardboard. I think it was chestnut spaetzle. No taste. My husband's steak was tough and overcooked. Another person thought her cannelloni was ok but oddly paired with mashed potato. The poor guy that couldn't get the special ordered swordfish and got three tiny nuggets of fish. The side dishes were all quite good, brussel sprout hash, cauliflower manchurian, corn and peppers. Finally something with flavor. The bus person thought it acceptable to stand behind one diner and ask that we pass our dirty plates even though she could have moved about and cleared the table properly. We ordered coffee and dessert and received our dessert 10 minutes before any coffee appeared. While we drank our coffee the restaurant cleared out so the staff decided to breakdown the room as if they had closed despite our being there. An argument broke out between 2 waitresses because one was leaving to catch a party and the work wasn't done. We would have been happy to leave but our waitress was MIA and we couldn't get our check. We tried to ask others but they were too busy cleaning around us.
