My wife and I yelped our way to this place after an early afternoon wedding at Colt St. Park. We arrived soon after they opened which is way earlier than we usually eat (4:30pm) but the perk was Happy Hour $2 oysters. The selection, execution and options of accompanying sauces were out of this world!!!! 15-20 mins after we arrived the place was jam packed. We decided to try a few smaller plates they were offering that night as specials one was a scallop dish and the other a salmon dish as well as the chowder. The scallops were cooked perfectly served with a text book creamy risotto. The salmon dish was a game changer for me. I personally shy away from salmon because the way its cooked can drastically alter the experience. My wife loves it so we settled on it. I'm glad we did. The flavor almost tasted butter poached with a beautiful crunchy sear finish. Nice job, we will absolutely be back.

Excellent deal ($1 oysters 4-6 every day) Interesting array of offerings Good beer list too Service a little slow, but they were very busy (full of oyster bargain hunters) Didn't try anything from the regular menu, though...

I was super excited to try this place -- oyster bar? Long wine list? Sign me up. We made the 30-minute drive from Providence mid-week to avoid crowds and sat down right away with no wait. Unfortunately, the waiting came once we were seated, but I'll chalk that up to understaffing and unpreparedness for a busy night in the middle of the week. We decided to order a bunch of apps and share 'em -- the best way to get a feel for a place, I think. Of course we began with a dozen oysters, which were all perfectly shucked and beautifully briny. What's interesting is that the oyster order came out much quicker than our drinks (wine and beer), which I found confusing. We dove into the creamy, flavorful scallop bisque (featuring loads of fresh corn and an entire seared sea scallop), plowed through the elegant tuna tartare and celery root chips (tasty but flimsy), and scarfed down the clams casino (definitely on the smaller side and definitely loaded with butter). The arugula salad was really disappointing, as it was missing the ingredient that really drew me in: peppered salmon bacon. Amazing, right? And the deep-fried egg lacked any seasoning and just made things greasy. Lastly, the lobster roll: what a disappointment. This came out at the very end because I think, perhaps, they were waiting for the lobster to thaw. It was water-logged and a tad too cold, and as a native Cape Codder, I know my fresh lobster and I know my lobster rolls. I'll be back for the oysters and some more wine, but the trip is a long one so I won't go out of my way. Service was friendly, if a bit slow, and the space is very cool (a converted state building with loads of charm).

Oysters. Yes. Amazing. The menu is perfect. The flavor of every dish I've tried from the scallop chowder to the patty melt is wonderful. The beverage menu? Needs help. Plain and simple. There are no local beers on draft; which is a shame. The sparkling wine by the glass is prosecco, which is horrid with oysters. The Sauvignon blanc by the glass is Californian; and although it doesn't overwhelm the delicate oysters, it doesn't exactly dance with them. And beware the rush. Appetizers may hit your table before you've had a chance to finish the oysters. Which means by the time you get to them, they've chilled. I'd like nothing more than to give this really amazing restaurant a five star review, but not yet.

Excellent spot in Bristol. $1 oysters from 4pm-6pm. Aquidneck oysters farmed locally delicious. Great selection of beer on tap (ballast point grapefruit IPA!) Will definitely visit again.

Love this place!!! Service was fantastic and meal was to die for!!! Unbelieve experience and cannot wait to go back!

The $1 oyster "happy hour" can't be beat. The little bivalves aren't for everyone, but they really taste like the essence of the sea. There are usually about 8-10 local varieties to try. The beer list is small, but they usually have some good IPAs on tap, which pair well with the raw oysters. The shuckers can get backed up and if you come at the wrong time, you can be shut out because the place is so small, but it's well worth a visit. I've never ordered off the regular menu, but it looks a bit pricey.

I'm not an oyster person, but my boyfriend had been dying to go here. We went around 2pm on a Saturday & it wasn't very busy. It was a lot smaller than I expected but it was a nice place! The bar area is really cool, it would be an awesome place to go to at night with a few friends. My boyfriend asked for a random dozen of the oysters and got the Aquidneck, East Beach Blonde, & Chessawanock. He loved the Aquidneck & East Beach Blonde & we're planning on going again so he can take advantage of the Happy Hour oysters! He also got the oyster shooter that had a strip of bacon pierced with a pick but he thought it had too much vodka. But hey, that might be your thing! I got the lobster roll which was amazing! It was stuffed and itcame with excellent homemade chips and a pickle spear. It was the perfect amount of food. What I loved most was how great our server was! She was so attentive that for my boyfriend's second round of oysters & clams, she switched up the sauce & got him a spicy one because she noticed that he liked putting on tabasco sauce! My boyfriend definitely wants to go back & when we do I can't wait to try the patty melt!

Great service. Great Oysters with some Alborino. Great Clams Casio with some smoky chardonnay. Topped it off with a lobster claw. After THIS lunch I needed a nap. It was KILLER!

Yelp does it again. My BFF & I were in the East Bay deciding on dinner and Yelp helped us learn of a new spot on Hope St. So glad we decided to stop in. While chatting with the hostess (as we waited for a table in a packed house on a random Tuesday night, which alone tells you something), we found out they are two months into business. They have had the "soft opening", so as to work out any kinks. We sat at the bar & talked to the man behind the raw bar. He'd shucked 1400 oysters that night alone. (No, I did not mistype). Oysters are local & fresh with the available selections on a chalkboard on the wall. Dinner was the scallop chowder & lobster roll for me & the smoked fish plate and Fisherman's stew for my friend. Every bite was delicious & well executed. Note: scallop chowder is cream based, even though it says scallop broth on the menu. I don't normally eat rich soups, and this was a treat for sure! The lobster roll was generous with the chunks, lightly dressed & served on a perfectly grilled roll. So happy. The space is on the bottom floor of the old Custom House & is charming. We wouldn't have known it was the place without the address. Decor inside is simple & clean. Attention is on the food.

I was left speechless by the wonderful service and delicious food. The patty melt is a must have here. And don't forget to check the specials!

Happy hour oysters for a buck - Best deal in town and what an amazing selection of oyster varieties from all around Rhode Island! Add to that a great staff in a spectacular historic space, a good selection of beers, a skilled bartender and you've hit gold!

Great raw bar and great bar for mixed drinks. Decent Beer selection as well. The food was really great, and prepared well. Delicious and I enjoyed it all.

What a great addition to Bristol. So, we went the second night they were open. The owner Pete was there telling us all about the oysters listed on the chalk board, and he is a local oyster farmer! House oysters are raised in his Bristol based farm. $1 OYSTERS FROM 4-6pm EVERYDAY???? #winning Beer selection is great, lots of craft stuff, but after seeing the copper mug......had to go moscow mule. Started with clam casino and oyster Rockefeller, both great. Sent out some complimentary Oyster shooters, they loved them. Tried the scallop chowder, awesome! Whole scallops, not nearly invisible "I think it's scallop" pieces. Finished off with a patty melt (yes, at an oyster bar) which was cooked perfectly sandwiched between good thick, farmhouse style bread. BOTTOM LINE: Cozy place with an excellent Raw Bar!

Service was pretty good (sitting at the bar). Oysters are just fine, if slightly overpriced, but the shuck was sloppy. Just a bit of shell in 3 out of 4 oysters, and a couple looked a bit mangled. Allagash White tasted slightly off, like the tap needed cleaning or something. And really, $7 for a freaking Allagash?!? C'mon, that's a ridiculous mark-up, and that's the thing that pushed it down to two stars instead of three.

Expect fresh assortment of locally harvested oysters. Plus fresh choice seafood on the menu. The daily special on oysters are on the giant chalkboard on the wall. Small space but very cozy. Can get crowded around the raw bar. The center of attention obviously is the raw bar that is smack in the middle of the floor. Raised so that there is commanding presence of the staff shucking the oysters from all angles. Good selection of regional and local craft beers and wine to compliment the food. Should check out the desert menu also while there. It is a sure bet for seafood lovers.

Incredible oyster selection. Wish they had saltine crackers but I guess that's a northern thing. Great customer service and true craftsmanship in regards to their food quality. A big recommend to anyone wanting local seafood at a great price.

Respectable food, but small portions, and high prices. Seafood platter was a fortune, and really minuscule. Only if you're in Bristol and can't get in to Persimmon.

Always a great meal and service at The Bristol Oyster Bar!! $1 oysters from 4-6 everyday, a raw bar with something for everyone! Plenty of great craft beers and an extensive wine selection. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. On any given occasion you can see the Head Chef and Owner visible and attentive to their guest and staff. So many reasons to visit this gem in Bristol!!! The menu boast of so many fresh choices and the specials are equally exceptional. The food is creative and made with great passion. Never a bad meal or experience. Have to give this one 5 stars! Oh and the patty melt... yes a patty melt....it is AMAZING!!!!

What a beautiful refurb of this old historic building! High ceilings and the bar takes up most of the space and plentiful oyster varieties listed on the wall with a chic chaulkboard style. Oysters are only $1 Sun-Thurs for happy hour and we had quick an assortment. They offer the oysters with a traditional minionette and a tomato and onion jam that was great! We'll be back soon!!

We loved it! 8 varieties of oysters; each one fresh, tasty and enjoyable (yes, we tried them all). Friendly and attentive service (thank you Katie!). Pace of food delivery perfect. Others in the party had salmon cerviche, tuna tartare and bacon wrapped shrimp and today's surf and turf special (pork belly and lobster/wild mushroom crepe). Smoked fish plate was yum with home made chips. Salads were generous and tasty. Decor is perfect with many historic touches. A home run addition to the Bristol restaurant scene. Can't wait for the warm weather to sit outside on the patio with this great food.

Large selection of very fresh oysters. Best selection I have seen in all of Rhode Island. The only place I have ever seen with a larger selection is Neptune oyster in Boston. This place is real close to that level. Small venue. Good service. Nice craft cocktail selection. Pattie melt was very good. This will definitely be my go to for oysters in the area.

This is a fantastic addition to Bristol! I truly believe this place has longevity. Great beer list - great wine list. Craft cocktails to come - I saw the Moscow Mule mugs on the wall! Amazing raw bar and very reasonably priced. The menu, while small, hits all the right notes. The owner indicated that the menu will continue to grow and we can't wait to see what comes next. Definitely a place to frequently re-visit. The oysters Rockefeller were outstanding and soooo fresh. Waitstaff was very attentive and we were welcomed by the owner. The guys behind the raw bar are very knowledgeable and clearly enjoy what they do. It was a pleasure to sit at the bar with them! You've got a customer B.O.B - Welcome to Bristol!

This place is amazing! It just opened in downtown Bristol and it is one of the ONLY oyster bars around. The surrounding are great considering the restaurant is in a building that is on the historic register. We sat down and Dylan and Steve took our order right away and the oysters were amazing and the service was great. The owner Pete was there as well talking and having a great time as well and even got behind the bar and started serving! We ordered food and I had the fried oyster sandwich and is was so good! Bacon and blue cheese Cole slaw?! Stop the madness. So amazing! The better half had the lobster roll and for 15 bucks you get ALOT for the money! If you go between 4 and 6 it is dollar oysters as well and they are no different than the regular priced ones. Also, when you order, it comes with home made potato chips that are pretty good too! Not much to say negative about this place! The shuckers Ray and Chris are pretty awesome and great to talk to. One of the most amazing part is that Pete is one of the ONLY farm to table oyster bars in the state! It's amazing! All I can say is welcome to Bristol and I will be coming back soon with all my friends! Thanks for having us!

If you're like me and love oysters on the half-shell, or just great seafood, then this place is for you! Best deal ever: oysters for $1ea daily 4-6pm. There are generally 6 selections, all from the local area. They run $2.50ea after 6. One particularly cool option are the oysters grown at nearby Hog Island! The menu changes frequently, and it's always good, albeit fairly limited, with usually three daily specials, and a fixed entree list of only three items. Their home made bread pudding is a dessert to die for. The place is small and nearly always crowded so get there early or be prepared for a wait... It's really worth it, and should be easier with warm weather and the opening of added outdoor seating. Lastly are the wait staff... They are quick, knowledgeable, attentive, and incredibly friendly. All in all this is a fantastic dining experience so long as you understand the various limitations. Without doubt, this is our favorite dinner stop in all of Bristol.

I had an assemblage of people for my birthday there on Friday 12/27. I had twenty five friends and family join me there from as far away as Ct. . Serious seafood lovers from Providence, Warwick, Barrington, Block Island, South Kingston, East Greenwich and Lincoln RI. People raved about the oysters, loved the décor and ambiance and most stayed for the better part of 3 hours. I for one am such a fan of fresh oysters that I only had oysters and littlenecks that night. People enjoyed the platters and the Oysters Rockefeller. I am headed back tomorrow for a patty melt and a dozen oysters. I must say this is my favorite oyster bar and the best restaurant in Bristol in my opinion.

Had a great dinner here! Shrimp wrapped in bacon five stars. Fried oysters with spicy blue cheese slaw five stars. Seared scallop corn chowder five stars. Lobster roll awesome. Place was a little chilly. Bring a sweater! Great atmosphere. Great location. I will definitely go back!

My wife and I enjoyed another oyster happy hour here yesterday. We're hopelessly addicted. Love this place! I'd like to see a few more (American and maybe local) sparkling wines on the menu (Mumm Napa Brut Prestige please - Wine Spectator Top100!)

  • Nick S.

Bad service, came in and tables where unavailable which is understandable, hostess said there was room for 3 at the bar so we agreed to sit there. A few minutes later she comes back and said there's only 2 seats available but there's a seat on the other side of a group and said we could ask them to move down for one of us could stand... It would seem that would be the job of the hostess, not at all the customer, apparently we must not have looked like we where big spenders or something, enjoy the snotty attitude if that's your thing..

  • Sue W.

Food was great! Loved the $1 oysters at happy hour. However, they had one of the worst bartenders. He was extremely slow, inattentive and the only effort he made was in avoiding eye contact with his customers.

    (4)
  • Joe J.

Fresh! The blackboard listing of today's oyster varieties showed a dozen choices...all from Rhode Island or nearby Massachusetts. Very good selection of on-tap beers. Wine list is intelligent, and the barkeep takes time to explain it. Not a very extensive menu of non-seafood items, but you came here for the oysters, remember? I'll be back.

  • Lisa P.

Fantastic selection of the freshest, briniest oysters you'll ever find. Service was prompt and attentive. This would have been a 5-star rating except for 2 things: it was very cold in the restaurant and the chairs at the bar are very crowded.

  • Ricardo C.

Bristol needed a place like this! What a wonderful place! The location is fantastic, the staff was super friendly and the food was excellent! It is a small place and it does get crowded but we like that kind of atmosphere. In my opinion it is best to seat at the bar, if you can grab a spot, where you will be right next to the shellfish shuckers and you can see your oysters being opened and prepped. The beer selection was great along with an extensive wine and mixed drink list. They have a great deal every day from 4-6pm, $1 oysters! We will be back here very soon! Great new restaurant!

  • L.M D.

This place is so cute and tiny and kind of hard to find, however the staff, food, and service is just on point. The happy hour $1 oysters from 4-6 and they say it is everyday is a huge hit. I will be back!

Did you ever go to a restaurant that you know people have liked, and enjoyed the food, but the evening was just 'off''? That happened to us, and we'll try the B.O.B. again, but we'll manage our expectations better. The restaurant space is very stylish and small - and somewhat loud. Slate floors, slates on the table, brick walls, high ceilings = noisy. So it's not a quiet romantic date spot, more a 'let's go eat some oysters' spot. We walked in the door just after a couple who apparently knew the owner, who was manning the door. Chat chat, 'how you doing?', etc, etc, then 'there's five of us', look of consternation, 'did you call ahead?' 'I called ahead' 'he called ahead'. So conference, owner dude and pert young thing scramble to set up the table, chat chat, bringing the extra chair, fine. Meanwhile the guy behind us is DESPERATE for a beer? an oyster? a seat? because he's asking us, repeatedly, are we waiting for a table. We think there's a table, but we're not sure, maybe there's a guy who called ahead, so we're like, we are waiting for a table, but if not we'll sit at the bar. Desperate guy is all, 'well, I just want to sit at the bar, so if you're waiting for a table, I'll go sit down, is that okay, and if there's no table you can have my seat' after which he and his friend sat down at the bar. So really, we can't call dibs on the bar just cause we are loitering abandoned and unloved at the door but just as we were about to leave the restaurant entirely the table of five got sorted and we are off to the two-top which was there all the time out of view and if only we had known we wouldn't have gotten all stressed about it. See what I mean by 'off'? possible fixes would have been: - have a table for five already set up for the guy that called ahead - pause to ask the next customers (us) what we were looking for in a table (two! that's all!) and tell us yea or nay was that possible - tell call-ahead guy you'd be right with him, you just have to set up the table, set the pert young thing to work, and seat us in the meantime Oysters are $1 from 4 - 6 on weekdays but we'll never ever get there for that, because of work, that's the breaks. That said, my husband had some...let me see...Red Cedar Beach oysters? something like that. They were adorable petite things; he said they were terrific, for $2.50 each. Tuna tartare, again lovely, but marred by the presence of raw celery which I just can't stand. That's a personal thing, not the fault of the restaurant, but I wish it hadn't had it. Funny, though, the celery root chip was quite nice. Clams casino, delicious, all wonderful tastes. Our waiter seemed to be very rushed although we couldn't tell why. He kept stopping by our table to announce, breathlessly, 'I'll be right with you guys' and then he'd scurry off to...somewhere. We weren't feeling neglected, it was just odd. Our entrees tried to come out before we'd finished the appetizers, then ran back to sit on the counter by the kitchen for a few minutes. They were still hot when we got them, so no harm done. The menu is quite limited, which we knew, but our friends had all said 'there's always a special!' and on facebook there are lots of nice pics of great dishes but truth be told, there aren't always specials, and the night we went was one of those nights. When I asked our waiter specifically he said 'no, no specials tonight, we're getting ready for the weekend'. Ah I see. I guess. We both had scallops which were wonderful, beautifully cooked, atop a delicious risotto. So the summation of this absurd review is, great food, limited menu, spotty service at the tables. If I could get there, I'd go early to eat oysters at the bar, and skip eating dinner at a table.

These are the best Oysters I've ever had. Nothing else has compared and I've had a lot. My wife is not normally a fan but she has asked to go back. So fresh and clean. Salt of the ocean flavored. Also loved the fried little necks sandwich. Highest recommendation! Sit at the bar.

We were here for dinner on a Saturday night and had the most enjoyable evening! Everything was perfect from the oysters/raw bar to the extremely fresh and interesting seafood combinations. The interior decor is spot on and has a very urban feel to it. We had some great wine and craft beers at the bar while waiting for a table and made instant friends with other patrons. I would highly recommend this restaurant to any and all! This place has a great vibe!

Went to Bristol Oyster Bar on Veterans Day. Surprisingly excellent! Had the snail salad, seasonal salad, fried oyster sandwich and oysters Rockefeller. Though the portions on the later two dishes were small by Southern standards, the quality of the food was excellent as was the service even though they were busy. They should have a few more oysters on the Rockefeller plate but otherwise, a very friendly, unpretentious and high quality place- hope there is expansion room in the building! Need more bar space! Really liked this addition to Bristol.

If you love oysters and other seafood, this is the place for you. We arrived before 6 to take advantage of the $1 oysters, but stayed to try many other dishes, such as clams casino, a sardine special, oysters rockefeller, tuna tartare, etc,. We had originally thought we'd leave after appetizers to do dinner someplace else, but we found lots of dishes to fill us up. It's an awesome place!
