It was odd. I requested no drumsticks and the entire order of jerk chicken was all dark meat. I was hoping for breast and wings. There were shards of bone and gristle all through the meat. I kept picking hard things out of my mouth. Other jerk chicken I've had has been breast meat, and not greasy. This was extremely greasy; so greasy, in fact, that there was orange oil spilling out of the container and pooling in the plastic bag they delivered the food in. The potato greens had a layer of orange oil on top, and the chicken there also had tons of pieces of bone and gristle in it. I ended up taking one bite and throwing it out. I also threw out about half of the jerk chicken. The beef patty was very good, and actually not oily (I've had oily ones elsewhere.) The flavoring of the food was pretty decent, and quite spicy. I would advise that if you don't like dark meat chicken, you should stay away from ordering that, and also be prepared for a ton of oil in the food. I may try this place again, but I would stick with an entirely vegetarian order next time.

The food was really good. I got the jerk chicken and my wife got curry chicken. We both agree that the food is very enjoyable. Watch out as you will get some bones in your food, but that's just a byproduct of the chicken being stewed. The service was below average, they don't have coco bread and we didn't get the African food, but we will be eating there again.

THIS PLACE IS AMAZING. You'd never know it was there unless you're looing for it, but you CANNOT get better food in the area. Some of the best food in Philly. GO

What a pleasant surprise. The food was delicious and the portions were generous (we ordered medium platters. Each platter was more than enough food for 2 - 3 meals depending on your hunger level ) We ordered an oxtail platter, a jerk chicken platter, a brown stewed chicken platter, two beef patties, and two sides of plantains , my total was approximately $46. ( all of the platters are served with cabbage , rice and beans, and plantains) We were all extremely satisfied , although my niece felt the beef patties needed more filling. I most certainly would go back. FYI ... There was a decent wait for the food but I'd much rather wait for delicious food instead of receiving mediocre food quickly

I'm a fan of the (African) food here. Like someone else mentioned, the food here is Ghanian style African food. I personally get the grilled tilapia and jollof which is delicious and the taste is extremely authentic. What I didn't care for much was the actual service. There was no real greeting or explanation of menu or anything and the overall feel is very cold, as if the employee w. as upset with you that she has to come into work that day. There is no aesthetic quality or personality to the restaurant itself, just some square tables with white tablecloths and plastic covering. Due to the above reasons I opt for take-out when coming here and would probably never dine in. The drink offerings are also limited as well. I saw some Arizona drinks and the rest were the various malta drinks and no real variety besides that. I would not go here for Jamaican food as I am way too harsh of a critic and as soon as I walked in I could tell they wouldn't deliver what I would consider to be up to par. I can look at a restaurants "Jamaican" menu and tell when I'm going to be underwhelmed. In my opinion, this is an AFRICAN restaurant. Option-wise it doesn't make sense to play this up as a Jamaican kitchen. Overall, I would say that if you're looking for some solid African dishes (fish, jollof, fufu, ackeke, etc) they can likely satisfactorily provide the fix you're looking for. They excel in providing authentic spices/tastes in their food which is largely why I'll return (for take-out).

So I ordered at this restaurant yesterday , I am new to the area and I was looking for African restaurants , I picked this place to give a try . I ordered jollof rice with oxtail , and rice and beef with plantains, I picked up my order and was firstly shocked at how much little food I received for the price I paid . There was very little oxtail meat and I had ordered rice on the side , it was very little and it was all soggy from the oxtail . Again my beef with jollof rice was small quantity and it was supposably a medium . The food was not bad at all I was overall very disappointed on how much food I got for the price I paid . I was looking forward to the jollof rice but couldn't enjoy because it was not much . Would I recommend to anyone no . But if somebody doesn't mind paying a lot for small portion of food I say jump right in .

Ordered on Grubhub; received a message stating that no driver was available and requested a call back. I called many times and all calls went straight to voicemail. Waited for over two hours now, still no delivery. If you want to order food for delivery, I suggest you stay away from this restaurant.

Very disappointed. I was excited to discover this spot while visiting the African market I ordered Oxtails w/ rice and peas. It was more like brown gravy and the rice was overcooked. The cashier also was rude! I gave her $10 and was waiting for my change thinking that meal was $8.99 when in fact it was $9.99. I didn't realize until she motioned as if she was throwing a penny at me yet she was careful to drop it back into the register. I left the place in shock. Needless to say I wasn't stepping foot back into the place to tell them of their failed cuisine. I opted to trash the plate instead. If you're looking for good Jamaican food keep looking. I don't have an opinion on the African food here but if you are looking for Nigerian style dishes you should know that the style is Ghanaian.
