Family owned and operated for years in the heart of Swarthmore. The owners are pleasant, live in town and take great pride in providing good food, coffee and baked items to their community. Their menus are imaginative and varied. Can't beat the soups or the heat at home dinners. Their baked goods are reminiscent of days gone by. They have this chocolate cakelike cupcapke with vanilla icing that is to die for. Cookies are great. Muffins too. The coffee is good and hot I don't live in town but on the other side of the school district and I regularly drive here for a meal

They ace basics like peanut butter cookies and ice tea. My veggie burger with hummus and smoked Gouda got all of its flavor from the hummus, and was ok. The crowd seems to be primarily female octogenarians and their grandchildren. The decor matches the crowd with a combination of antique kitchen wares, crayons, and coloring books. The space is a little worn in with cracked vinyl window seats and black grout on the tile floor, but the tables are clean. Lunch was served on a plastic plate. Service was extremely fast and attentive.

Just had the absolute greatest crab cakes I have ever eaten in my life last night at Occasionally Yours. My dining partner said the same thing. I have heard that Scott the owner makes a great crab cake but this blew me away.I have traveled the country, eaten at some of the finest seafood restaurants in the USA that are known for crabcakes and was thrilled to find this delicious version right here in my town. The freshest lump crab with very little Panko bread crumbs pan fried to golden perfection. A delicious homemade red pepper tarter sauce to accompany the cakes. Fresh green beans. Ravioli with alfredo and penne with red sauce. Available often on the First Friday of each month. It is well worth seeking these out and trying. Two thumbs up - way up!!!!

The pulled pork sandwich is AMAZING as is the pumpkin soup. Order both with an empty stomach and watch as your day gets better simply as a result of getting good food. I really cannot stress this enough. The above combination has instantly entered my 'comfort food' top five and whenever I'm in Swarthmore, I swing by for a helping. I'm aware the prices are a tad steep but what you're getting is a proper lunchtime meal that leaves a smile on your face. Bluntly speaking, really good food is well worth a couple of extra bucks.

Look, it's a teensy tiny place that serves overpriced staples. The dinner menu is actually absurd. I dodged the prices by ordering a 4.75$ bowl of chicken vegetable barley soup. It is definitely homemade, but it was very noticeably over-salted, and I got a lot of broth and not a lot of food. However, it was pretty good soup, and there were nice chunks of chicken in it.

This place is clean, and the service is very friendly, but the prices are pretty steep for what you get. I'm not opposed to paying $8-9 and even more for a sandwich if it's made with beautiful, freshly roasted porchetta, homemade bread, and interesting mustards and condiments. But $8 for cold cuts on a supermarket roll? I've also had over-salted beef stew that didn't really rise above passable, and a $5 slice of quiche that was made with what I think was Jimmy Dean sausage. I was hoping this place would give its neighbor, Hobbs, a run for its money, and encourage them to step up their game, but both places just make it ok for each other to be kind of blah.

Occasionally, this sweet spot surprises me....as I was enjoying my perfectly baked bacon, eggs and toast the owner, Scott Richardson sat down to chat...that's not the surprise...about his First Friday lump crabcakes and pasta. Who knew? Seems on every first Friday of the month, OY offers crabcakes chock full of lumps and pasta as well. AND, you can bring a bottle of wine to this OHSOQUAKERTOWN establishment and truly enjoy your feast. Sounds like a plan to me; and after having spent (way too?) many hours chatting with Scott, I bet it's good. See ya there.

I really like the sandwiches here--the roast beef is really nicely done, always fresh. I think it's the most reliable and consistent place to get lunch in Swarthmore, and I also think they do a pretty fair job with catering based on past experiences.

Turns out I've had several catered meals by Occasionally Yours this year - the rehearsal dinner in July, the quiche lunch in July, and the rehearsal dinner in October. The October dinner was billed as "barbecue," but we all know that Northerners and Southerners do not mean the same thing by barbecue. In the South, it's all about the sauce and the seasoning; in the North, it just means it was cooked on a grill. Being from the south, and preferring the slow-roasted with spices kind, I decided to play to the strengths of Northern cuisine and opted for the sausage and peppers. Others said that the barbecue was good and "much better than expected, " but I was thrilled with the sausage and peppers - perfectly grilled with a good mix of peppers and onions and lots of spicy mustard. All the grilled meat was prepared on the premises so it was hot from the grill, not from being reheated, huge bonus points. The grill out by the patio was a tantalizing smell while we nibbled on fresh veggies with spinach dip with our Flying Fish and Yuengling during cocktail hour. The real star of the evening (other than the Bride and Groom of course) was the tray of desserts: homemade chocolate chip cookies, raspberry bars, oatmeal cookies, brownies, and blondies. All were amazing, and yes, I tried every kind more than once to make sure!

Never had the catering, but I am a fan of their lunches. Love the sandwiches, especially the chicken and egg salad. The lemonade is always the highlight of any meal I get from there as it's probably some of the best I've ever had. The soups are hearty and delicious. There's always new specials that are constantly tasty whenever I have the chance to try them. The only thing I don't like are the hours, but it's understandable considering it's a family run place.
