I probably would of given three-stars because the food was ok, and the waitress was very nice, but the staff should NEVER start clearing a table when someone is still eating. There were five in our party. Three were done eating. One was taking a rest from eating and one was still eating. The staff cleared the other three and then twice approached the person who was taking a rest who finally said yes take it away. So now the table is cleared except for one person who had to finish her meal alone. Management should know better and instruct the staff --- table should not be cleared until everyone is done

I have been to this restaurant before. I think the prices are a little high .I ordered the special ,which was a filet with crab meat. It was good but was not worth 34.99. I think because they do not serve drinks they raise their prices to make up for it. The waiter I thought was a little rude . At the end of our meal which was around 8:30 and they are open until 10:00 pm he hands us the bill as i was figuring out the amount we each owed and the tip . He came over twice in a matter of minutes and proceeds to pat me on my back and say you are my last table. The place was still full of people. He wanted to get out of there fast! I did put a 20% tip in the bill . I really should have not done that! Will not go back!

A 1 star Eh rating is an over statement. Poor, displeasing, horrible are all better. I went to this restaurant last night for a friend's birthday party. I drove with 3 others all from NJ. It took us 1 hour to get there. We got to the restaurant around 7. We were part of a party of 14 people & were seated promptly. Right away when I got to the table I saw a problem. We were packed in like a herd of cattle. There was one long table for 10 that should have seated 8. At one end there was a shorter round table that was for 2 but they shoved 4 people here. Plus they put an extra chair behind me. I couldn't pull it out because we used to hold gifts for the birthday girl and we had no where to put without putting it with the party next to us. My back hurt from sitting so straight. About 30 minutes later the rest of the party arrived & our first waiter took the appetizer order. That came out fast! The bruschetta was nasty. It was soaked in oil & the toppings were eh. The calamari was ok I was told. About 30 minutes later the waiter took our food order. Here is where it got bad. Our order took 90 minutes! In the 90 minutes they apparently switched servers on us. They kept bringing bread but gave up doing that. I lost count how many times the second waiter we had told us that on average there is a 45 minute wait for food on the weekend. THAT'S HORRIBLE! Get your act together, you can't do that people. Around 9:30 we finally got dinner after 6 tables in our room either finished and left or were about to finish their meal. All these tables ordered right before us or well after us. My fettuccine alfredo was pretty good, but not worth the wait. Some people ordered baked foods that they needed spoons for because it was like soup. When questioned the waiter said that it was correct. My friend ordered a meal with veal in it. He's still looking for the veal. They should have said veal flavored. Another ordered a medium-rare steak. It came medium-well. When asked if it was okay by the waiter he hesitated & said ok. The waiter offered to recook it but he didn't want to wait 45 minutes again. Another person ordered the ravioli & got 4 for $20 bucks. Olive Garden gives you more. After dinner the waiter asked who wants cake. He stopped mid-sentence because he ruined the last part of the surprise for the birthday girl. They brought us the cake, we sang, they took the cake away to cut up & cut it to serve. While they were cutting it our third waitress came & asked my friend with the bad steak if he wanted a free dessert or coffee for it. He politely asked if as a table could have a 20% discount or free appetizers for all the above problems & the 2.5 hour wait. She said she would have to ask the manager. The manager/owner lady came over & told him "No we don't do that." She refused to accommodate us like they didn't do anything wrong by making us wait, cramming us into the table, or by serving other parties. When we asked why the table of 2 got there food & left in an hour she said "Cause that was duce". How rude was that? She couldn't even say a table of two, she had to say duce. I asked if she would even take off 1/2 of the appetizers but she refused. We decided to stop wasting our breath & leave. When the 3rd waitress came with the check she saw fit to take care of us where the manager wouldn't. We were thankful for that. A place like this doesn't deserve business if they can't treat customers' right & make good to keep the customer happy. We were better off going to the bowling alley across the street. It would have had better seating, better managers, better serving, & cost less. Living in NJ is a natural barrier to going back here but even if I lived in the area I would never go back. This place will go out of business or be bought by new managers at some point because these people don't know or care about their business. Save your money go to Olive Garden, your experience will be better.

Before i begin the Review, i want to get something out of the way. If your idea of Italian Food and Italian Dining is the Olive Garden, Stay Away from Cascata and the Customers who enjoy this Restaurant. We do not mind paying for what we eat. The 'Early Bird' and the Days' Specials are what Restaurants use to do for Loyal Customers and to Bring New Customers to the restaurant, IT worked backed then and it works, now. We dined at Cascata for the first time on April 17, 2015. It will not be our last. Within the past month we stopped going to our Local Italian Restaurant in Lansdowne and tried another, on West Chester Pike. Cascata is our choice, from now on. Because it was our first time and the latest Diet Restrictions were in charge; we checked the Menu before we left the house and knew what we wanted, a lot can happen between the choices made at home and what has been 86'd off the Menu. That did not happen at Cascata. My Wife ordered a Salad and a Pasta with Marinara Sauce, as She did at the other Restaurants. The Portions and the Flavor were a Noticeable Improvement. i came for the Mussels and the Calamari. After the Mussels Fiasco in Lansdowne over why they were 86'd, and Last Minute Closing for Easter Sunday, that has yet to be explained, i hoped that Cascata's Mussels would wipe those memories away. Cascata's Mussels did not disappoint, the Spicy Red Sauce was a joy. The Calamari Fritti was all Rings, no Tentacles and not the Dark Brown, Deep Fat Fried Looking batches, you get elsewhere. This was our First and not last time. We came with a planned idea on what we were going to order. We kept it simple. A larger party in our room was waited on and served without a problem. We heard no complaints, we did hear that the Soup of the Day: Roast Red Pepper Soup, was prepped, cooked and served as i do at Home. Reason enough to try it next time. The Next Time!!!

This is the second time I've been here the first time was with a smaller party of 4 and overall for the first time I'd give it a 3 star - OK rating. What this place has going for it is the food is decent. This most recent time we went with a party of 8 on a Saturday night. We made reservations and waited about 15 - 20 minutes past our reservation. When we got to the table we were greeted promptly but only given one menu. It also took a very long time for us to get enough wine glasses, first we received 2 of the 6 requested. It took a while to get get the rest. Very disorganized. After the start things got better the service was decent and the food was pretty good, The menu is typical of most Italian BYOBs in the are. When we got the check it was the incorrect check, it wasn't for our table. We would have taken it b/c it was $100.00 less than our check but we're honest people. I'd go back to this place if invited by someone but won't plan to go on my own accord. As someone in the business I don't like giving places poor rating as it is not and easy task to serve and keep everyone happy but they need to get their stuff straight and have everything ready to go from the start of the experience.

Visited: Friday - October 11, 2014 - 7:30 PM I've dined at Cascata perhaps five times. My dining experiences rate 3 or 4 stars. My lady friend and I waited almost six minutes for a server. When the server appeared, he did not apologize. He was unaware or feigned ignorance. Nevertheless, my mood was set for a sour experience. In haste and frustration, I ordered an appetizer and entree featuring crab cake. The appetizer was mushrooms stuffed with crab cake and followed by a crab cake entree. The "crab fest" was virtually tasteless. The walkway to the bathrooms is sandwiched between the dining room wall and the servers quarters. It is cramped and awkward when sharing the space with the servers. The men's bathroom lacks modernization and cleanliness. The walkway and bathroom status, in effect, is an automatic one-star deduction regardless of superior food and service. The food, walkway, bathroom, and initial wait was disappointing. Ironically, the subsequent superior efforts by the server, salvaged the experience.

Love Cascata. Pasta is great, I love the lobster raviolis. The salad has never let me down and the bread is generally good. In fact eating here is a guilty pleasure for me because I generally over eat and it is very reasonably priced. I would often take my parents here when they were in town. It is a go to for us in the cooler months when we are not down the shore. I stood peering into the kitchen one night while waiting for my mother who was using the facilities. It is a surprisingly big kitchen, and very clean, which was impressive. My mom has some physical challenges and they have always been very accommodating. Some of the tables are a little tight in the main dining room, but like I said, they are gracious hosts and have always made sure that we are seated properly so that we can best enjoy our meal. It is a BYOB, which is also good because you end up saving money. I like watching people come in and try to order wine who just don't know any better. It's funny because there are a lot of empty wine bottles around the restaurant as decoration, the curmudgeons always point that out. Anyway, this is a solid place to eat and it is worth of 4.5 stars, definitely check it out.

This restaurant seems like a little un- (or at least under-) discovered gem of Springfield. I stopped here for dinner looking for something more than a deli sandwich and I was pleasantly surprised. With nice ambiance and very clean look the place feels inviting and cozy. The interior is not huge with less than 20 tables but there was no wait on a Wednesday night to get seated. I tried the Pollo Capperi from the menu and have to admit it was above the average. The service was quick and cortious, the only small bummer - they were out of tiramisu, which is my favorite desert of all times! Also on a positive note - my dinner including tip came to less than $30 and I left taking large portion of my meal home. Go aheand and visit if you are in the area - you won't be disappointed but remember it's a BYOB!

My party waited nearly waited 2 hours for our food to come out. I ordered Filet medium rare it was well done. Because it took so long I did not send it back. at the end of the meal I was offered a free dessert. Even though we had brought our own cake. I asked the manager to do something like remove the appetizers, she responded we don't do that. Horrendous slow service, pricey food that was just ok, and awful customer service. I highly recommend not going so this restaurant can go out of business. I have had such bad service at a restaurant ever.

Went here for a late night dinner and it was terrific! Service was attentive but not overly so. Food was great. I had the pasta with broccoli rabe and it was not overly garlicky like a lot of places make it. Place felt like a neighborhood Italian joint where everyone knows your name. I'll be back.

The food is always fresh and delicious. The staff is friendly and knowledgable. It is BYOB which allows you to enjoy a great meal while keeping the cost down. The restaurant is clean. Seating is rather close together which could be a problem in other restaurants but not here. It feels like you are sharing a meal with family/friends. Great local place! You have to opportunity to dine in or pick up take out.

I love this place! I come here several times a month with either my family or my boyfriend. I've tried several different things on the menu, and everything is always really good, but my favorite is the penne vodka. My boyfriend always gets the gnocchi, but the seafood is also really good here. The portions are huge! I always end up taking half home to have for lunch the next day. It's a small, old school Italian place, but the food is always really great!

I had the shrimp scampi which was good. Salad and bread were weak. I would say typical Delco fare. Nothing special here but good for the price.

A small little byob located on a busy street. I went here for the first time with some girls from work, and I was extremely impressed. I love Italian food! I had a salad with house dressing, which was just a basic salad. They bring you bread and butter as well. We also ordered the bruschetta, which was packed with flavor. For my entree I had penne pasta with broccoli rabe. I ate every bite which is unsual for me. Normally, I get a take out box. I just couldn't stop eating! The restaurant has apparently changed hands a few times, but I cannot personally vouch for that. The staff was beyond friendly, and very knowledgeable. I can't wait to go back!!

Very good Italian BYOB with reasonable prices. Went with family on a Tues night and the place was 1/2 full. Clean with classic italian restaurant decor. Service very friendly and attentive. Tried all 4 entrees on the table (veal Milanese, veal Marsala, gnocchi Florentine, & baked ziti) and each one was excellent. Most entrees in the $20 range with pasta dishes in the high-teens, although the specials can be in the $30's. Entrees come w/soup or salad and side pasta or veggie. Tried 2 desserts, limoncello cake & oreo cheese cake ($5 each), both were very good, and lighter than they sound. Will be back!

Outdated decor and style. Friendly staff. Food was okay, not worth a second trip. The Alfredo sauce was more like white water.

I've been to this place twice with large parties and they do a very good job making sure it goes smoothly. It is a BYOB which is always a plus for a big group to help cut down on the bill. We had a group of 15 for an early dinner after my brother's graduation. It was a Sunday and they were closed except for reserved parties, so it was great having an entire room to ourselves! There was another large party in another room. They had a limited menu for such a large party, as most places do, but they had a great variety of entrees. Each order came with a house salad- nothing special, just a regular salad with balsamic vinaigrette. They had a nice mix of seafood, chicken and beef offered on the limited menu and no one had trouble finding something they liked. I had the Shrimp Scampi which was delicious! They surely did not skimp on the shrimp! Everyone enjoyed their meals. Portions were great and the meat entrees came with sides of pasta and marinara. They allowed us to bring our own dessert and also served pieces of homemade tiramisu with our cake. The service was GREAT. We had two servers, Mona and Layla, who took very good care of us! They were consistently available for whatever we needed and were very friendly with all of our guests. Even after dessert, they told us to relax and take our time. Most places try to rush out big parties, so it was very nice to be able to continue our chats and digest our huge meals without being rushed out! This is a great place to go for a small family dinner or for a large party. We had a great experience and I would recommend this to anyone in the area.

BYO with HUGE portions. In many cases, giant portions compensate for average food. The food is very standard Italian-American (chicken/veal parm, piccata, marsala, several standard pasta and fish dishes as well). It's nothing that stacks up to restaurants in the city, but still a pretty solid option in the area. Definitely better than something like Olive Garden (but then again, isn't everything?).

I completely agree with Steven B: This is your classic Southern Italian suburban eatery. It's small and quiet and a BYOB. It's a fine place for a nice quiet dinner. It's cute and quaint and has a mom and pop feel all around. We had a waiter that was extremely italian and rough around the edges but very on top of things. I went with the stuffed mushrooms to start with a house salad. The house salad was delicious but the Italian dressing was creamy, I would choose something else next time. The stuffed mushrooms were extremely tasty but very greasy and buttery, which I like but, just a heads up if you don't. I went with the grilled salmon special for dinner. It was on top of veggies, a mix of spinach, mushrooms etc, quite delicious. It was well done which I liked, extremely crispy on the outside and tender inside. For the side I had angel hair with garlic and olive oil, perfect portion, not overwhelming. Everything was very good.

Classic Italian dishes at this neighborhood BYOB. Most entrees come with either a soup or salad. When the soup is escarole I am in! Now to the entrees I am a red sauce kind of guy, and I have to say I do not like how Cascata's makes their red sauce, it is full of tomatoes and other vegetables. I like just sauce. Last night I had the meatballs and ravioli. The raviolis were good but the meatballs were small and lacking some thing that i can not out my finger on. For an appetizer we split the clams casino and they did not disappoint, they were big and tasty. Service was very slow but they were really busy. I guess I know why it has been about a year since my last visit. I like this place but I do not love it! When going out for Italian it is definitely not on top of my list. Which sucks because it is a hop skip and a jump from my house. 1 appetizer, 2 entree's and 2 desserts will run you about $70, the only thing that saves this place is that it is a BYOB, I mean if we had to pay by the glass our bill would have been way over $100 especially after how many glasses the wife and I consumed waiting for our meals. I guess I will give them a shot in another year or maybe I will just try another dish on our next visit.

The food was ok, but unfortunately the service was really bad. We had to wait for bread, the food and the check. I like the food (always have), but the experience was below expectations. What made the experience even worse is we believe staff at the restaurant took our credit card information and committed fraud the next day. Because of this, we will not go back.

Food was OK! However the owner/hostess/waitress was so rude. We made a 4:15 PM reservation for a leisure dinner with our elderly parents. She gave us our menus and recommended we order the appetizer to share. Never mentioned it was $47.00. Calamari, peppers, tomatoes etc. when we were not ready to order immediately she got pissed, she said "I'm here to take your menus!" She brought the appetizers and our soup at the same time. I asked her to please slow the food down, we need time to eat the courses. She snapped back at me, well you had a 4:15 reservation how long did I expect to be here. Looked at my watch it was 4:40. We had appetizers, soup, dinner, dessert and coffee and were out of there in one hour!! So much for a relaxing dining experience. Owners have a fast food mentality, with all inexperienced high school waitresses. Too expensive for fast food.

This is your classic Southern Italian suburban eatery. It's small and quiet and a BYOB. It's a fine place for a nice quiet dinner. Prices are reasonable. Dishes with meat (Beef, chicken, veal) will be mid-teens and include salad and bread. Pasta only dishes will be a little less and seafood a little more. The wait staff is just fine. Parking is not bad with lots of room behind the restaurant. They can get busy so call ahead. No Open Table here. This is one of those places that the locals know well but escapes the notice of others. You can certainly make the drive into Philly for better Italian but if you want to stay in the western burbs this is not a bad choice.

You can't go wrong eating here for a nice group or date meal. The food is great, I've been here a half dozen or more times and can't complain about anything. People are nice, always busy, maybe not the fastest service but if your in a hurry, go to Wendy's. There are not many good places to eat in Delco or Springfield or Broomall but this is probably the best in the area. BYOB or buy there. Never have I had a bad experience. Prices are a little high but everything is expensive anymore.

Tried this restaurant for the first time and it is now one of my top 4 favorite restaurants! Hubby had the mussels in red sauce and loved it; I had the pasta primavera in the light cream sauce and loved it..........both are big portions! Their Caesar salad dressing is also delicious. Cascata Caffe is a MUST try!

How I lived in Delco for 24 years without ever going to Cascata is quite a mystery to me. Much like other Yelpers noted, Cascata is a small, quiet BYOB, but don't let that deter you at all. Having never been here, I wasn't aware that each entree has enough food to feed 2-3 people, so I decided that two appetizers was a must. We started with the bruschetta and pesce misto in white wine. The bruschetta was alright - my major complaint is that the bread they use is WAY too thick. The pesce misto was pretty basic, but had a good flavor. I would probably skip both of these (and appetizers altogether) in the future. For dinner, the BF ordered the chicken capperi and I got the frutti di mare. Holy Jesus, these plates are huge! No lie, my entree came out in a casserole dish. I swear they must use a pound of pasta in every dish...not that I'm complaining or anything, I was just surprised. You get a considerable amount of food for $20-$25 here. The frutti di mare was pretty basic, but loaded with seafood, so I was a happy camper. I tried the chicken dish and it just wasn't my thing, but the boy really liked it (so much so that he ate 3/4 of it, which was almost sickening to watch). We came, we ate, we rolled ourselves out of there and onto a couch where we both immediately fell into food comas. There's nothing really special about the food at Cascata, but if you're looking for a ton of okay food and the opportunity to BYOB, I'd recommend it.

Very good food quality, but terrible service, owners seem to be greedy and mismanage this restaurant. This place is very close to my house and I usual ignore it, but friends invited us there on a Sat. night. Very disappointing overall. We had 7:30pm reservations, did not get seated until 8pm, did not get our entrees until 9:10pm - terrible. Way overbooked and dining room was very crowded and clearly overbooked. Even waiter told me this is a common problem there. All tables were jammed tight in the small dining room - this should not be the case. Everybody in the dining room appeared to be waiting for food and ours finally showed up over 1 hour from ordering. Not a good experience and they were not very apologetic about it. The only redeeming quality was that the food was fairly good. But likely won't be going back to this place again. Appears from the reviews that this is a very common problem here.

After eating here with my family for dinner the night before Thanksgiving, I highly recommend that you do not dine at Cascata. Here are the highlights: The food is decent, with some good dishes and some bad ones. However, the service, from the waiters, to the manager, to the owner, was so poor with extremely rude and incompetent staff, and so slow, with our food taking nearly two hours to arrive, that we will never go back to this place and I don't think you should either. We were a party of 10 seated in a room that also had a party of 26 in it. It was clear that we were not their priority. Our first waiter ditched us about 30 minutes in and then another person took over. We couldn't get water refilled at table because we were being ignored. The food took almost two hours to arrive even after they promised it was "on its way out" for a half hour. For some of this time, they had a man playing the accordion for the other group in the room. He was terrible at playing, and it was extremely annoying. The waiters were laughing about how long the food was taking and did nothing to try to apologize. The manager was almost worse, apologizing profusely, but never offering to take anything off of the bill. On the way out we talked to the owner, who is the chef and he was even worse than the manager. He said that anything other than the food wasn't his responsibility. What a terrible attitude to have as an owner. I'm not from around the area, so I don't know about other Italian options. But I am sure there are places where the food is as good or better and where the people who work there care about the service. Don't waste your night by going to Cascata.

I wasn't expecting much as Delaware County is not really known for their fine dining, but I always enjoy a BYOB and this was a place my mom had mentioned she liked. We came here on a Sunday night for my mom's birthday with a party of seven. The place is pretty decent sized for a BYOB with plenty of tables for large groups, but for some reason we were shoved in the corner right next to another table even though there tons of other large tables open. the decor is very old world italian and they decorate the open shelving with left over wine bottles from previous patrons. I did notice some fruit flies circling around the empty bottles on the shelf near our table, so I'm assuming they weren't cleaned out before being left there. Our original waiter seemed very distracted and was eventually replaced by (I think) the manager after leaving the table for quite some time and not returning. The bread was delivered to the table cold with packets of butter, which i always find strange for an Italian restaurant. I love a warm chunk of bread to dip in olive oil, but maybe that's just me. The menu at Cascata is enormous and their special list was equally huge consisting of around 12 to 15 specials that the waiter had to recite. By the time he was finished I might have remember 3 out of the 15 he listed. I ordered the Frutti Di Mare which was pretty good. The give you big portions so you definitely get your money's worth. Every entree comes with a soup or salad and either veggies or pasta. The Bf had the crab imperial which he didn't really like. He said it was more of a crab dip that should have come with bread instead of a full meal. Overall I wasn't really impressed. The service was disorganized and the food wasn't spectacular. I don't think I'll be returning as there are plenty of other Italian restaurants nearby to try.

This place is great! Love that it is a BYOB. I have have many events here, wedding rehearsals, birthday partys, graduation partys, all great! The salmon is the best around! Better than any seafood place. Try it, you'll like it!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again.
