Was heading to Southampton. So needed to find good breakfast spot., so I picked Robin Hood. Was a great choice. Honestly I don't know how people give this place such bad reviews. The food was good and the place was packed at the time I arrived. I think the prices are reasonable like other breakfast spots. This is on the end in alittle shopping mall. It's not hard to miss. You can BYOB seen many with there own mugs of coffee. Desided to get coffee hear and glad I made that choice, the coffee is so good and comes out fresh and steaming hot. Just how a cup of coffee should be. I got eggs over easy, French toast, and bacon. Eggs where perfect, so was the bacon with a crisp to it, and the size of the French toast was huge. And good. The service was great, no complaints. I look forward to coming back hear. And recommend others coming for breakfast!!!!

I don't know how I overlooked reviewing the diner that I go to breakfast 2 to 3 times a week! Awesome breakfast specials. I usually get the egg white wrap or the poached eggs. with the BEST home fries in the area! They are not oily , fluffy inside and have the perfect crispy brown outer. The camel shape counter is fun for meeting new people and friendly regulars. The hostess and wait staff are the best in the area as there is no employee churn. The owners are also the cooks so it's consistent and always hot.

Horrible! I ordered take out, chicken quesadillas and cheese fries. My cheese fries were not cooked throughly! Ugh. Look at the pictures to see the chicken quesadillas

This place is pretty much a diner. Lots of regulars love it because the food is cheap. Get the $2.99 breakfast special. Make sure you check your silverware for shmutz first.

Persuaded to return by the Mister, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the new owners have made substantial capital investments, scrubbed the place and upgraded the menu. Their challah French toast compares favorably with that of West Avenue Grill, the omelets are generously-sized and the coffee has been substantially upgraded. I will continue to miss the colorful characters who filled the service roles under the old regime but the new hires are both charming and efficient.

Stopped here for a quick bite. A decent local watering hole. Had lentil soup and a Greek salad. When ordering the salad the waitress said they didn't have the grape leaves. I also asked for no egg. No problem. When the bill came, the price was the same as the menu. They didn't deduct anything for the lack of egg or grape Leaves. Twenty bucks for two people.

Halfway decent breakfast. Prices are incredibly low but the food can sometimes taste not fresh. The dinners are average. Definitely try the brioche French toast with bananas--it's a breakfast winner. All of the other food though, I am say to say, is just average/what you can get at most other places of this nature.

Two and a half stars? Really? Surprisingly low rating for a place that's almost always full whenever I go there. Obviously, some people think a little more highly of the place. I gave it four stars because, well, for a diner, it's really not that bad. In the name of full disclosure, I tell you that when I go to the Robin Hood, I'm usually alone and sit at the counter. Counter service is usually hit and miss, as it's the hardest station for a server to maintain and it's easy to miss someone when people come and go neat at a at time. But the servers here are usually pretty good at staying on top of it. The prices are very good and the portions are generous. The food is inconsistent at times, but for the most part, they do a pretty good job. They aren't gourmet chefs here, but they get the food out hot and to the tables pretty efficiently. I go semi-regularly and see no reason not to stop in for a hearty breakfast from time to time. One of the features I like is that they offer grilled onions with the potatoes at no extra chage. I usually ask for them browned a little extra. I think caramelized onions add a nice touch of flavor to my home fries or hash browns. Their french toast is nice and fluffy and filling. A very good alternative. However... If you really have a sweet tooth, then you should order their cherry blintzes. They put so many cherries on top, it's almost impossible to find the blintz underneath. They must have a contract with the local doctors and dentists, because if you don't become an instant diabetic, you'll might at least end up with a cavity in one or two teeth LOL. Seriously, though, I almost always leave more than satisfied as far as the food goes and the regulars here usually will include you in the conversation on your first visit. I would actually give this 3.5 stars if I could, but there are no half stars, so I rounded it out in their favor to a 4.

My wife and I had to go out for some errands and we were near the Robin Hood Restaurant ( now does catering ? ) For years this was a fixture in the area, many locals and anyone who had eaten here returned with regularity however ( now knowing new owners are in place , that explains our recent experience ) We were looking for a light meal but sadly few options were being offered so my wife had the tuna melt ( loaded with chopped tomato's hidden under the cheese ) and my Rueben had some kind of dressing on it ( not Russian nor 1000 island ) but some thing else that actually took rye bread ( made with rye grain ) and it turned into some thing that tasted like a soft pretzel ( pretzels are made with wheat so w.t.f caused that chemical reaction to alter a products base element ??? ) They have added so many tables and booths that people talking and been so close it was almost impossible to hear each other's voices, the wait staff was quite slow, and then everything was delivered to our table all at once, Realize with cramped quarters trying to keep our drinks, salads and meal on a small table was an adventure in itself. As others have said this once was a great little spot but now it is a cramped , over rated greasy-spoon that you would do better eating at the Mc Donald's down the street, we will know better in the future.

I don't know what people are talking about. Just had a great breakfast, huge servings great cost. Attentive staff, place may need a little TCL, but come on, place is over 50 years old.

This place is dirty... tables and floor very dirty. Everything felt greasy. Like the ketchup bottle and salt shaker were greasy.

Once upon a time this place was worth going to. Then it went to hell. Ownership changed a year or two ago, and for awhile it was back up. Unfortunately it's headed back into the toilet. Food quality has once again become "bleh", and service is at extremes (and by low I mean I've now even gotten my check within minutes of my food and then never saw our waitress again, though we sat there for 25 minutes waiting to see if she'd return to see if we wanted anything else or even a second cup of coffee. We think she just left with out getting coverage for her tables). Southampton is not at a loss for places to eat, and this just doesn't give the "wow" needed to draw people away from those others.

I have been here a couple of times and was pretty pleased with my experience. Apart from the coffee being a little bit on the water side, the establishment itself serves its purpose. Go here for breakfast if you're looking for a quick breakfast fix.

Yes, the cost is low, but is it good? Not by me. The breakfast burrito was more like a fried egg stuffed blintz (I posted a photo). If you're looking for a Southwest taste--this is far from it and purely Southhampton. The salsa was commercial, and the home fries--ordered well done with onions-- were dried out and greasy. My dining partner had the "special" tomato omelet. Not so special, for sure. Service was pleasant but not quick for lunch. Good thing: the parking is easy.

My favorite neighborhood diner. Good size portions and Great Dinner Specials starting at $9.99. Love the Breakfast too.

Restaurant/Diner at the end of a shopping complex that's been around for a long time. My Mom states it was the cool place to go after Tennant High School football games when she was there around 1970. The most recent time I went the service was quick and no-nonsense and not particularly friendly. But the food was pretty good and it was cheap which is exactly what you hope for out of place like this. Definitely an A-OK place for a quick breakfast on Saturday or Sunday morning.

We came here on Labor Day, because our other choices were closed for the day. Our server was very nice, however the food was not so great. Also, we brought the only kids in the restaurant, and other than them we were the youngest customers by 20 years or so.

Great place to start the day. Fast service, prompt refils, good food, no nonsense service. Good place to catch up on local Southampton news and rumour.

I have lived a mere two miles from the Robin Hood Restaurant for 24 years and I have always been mildly curious about the oddly-named establishment in Southampton. I had never eaten there, nor had I spoken to anyone who had dined there. The shades always seemed to be drawn, and I didn't see anyone entering or exiting the diner. For years I assumed that it wasn't open, until a friend and I took the time to check the hours on their front door. We were puzzled by the hours, yet the absence of clientele was instantly explained; the Robin Hood is only open from 6 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. every day. While the sign out front clearly states that the restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, it is clearly outdated. In any event, we decided to explore the mysterious locale on the following day. I must admit that I was extremely nervous about my upcoming dining experience. Judging solely by the outdated sign and the seemingly-dingy exterior, I had extremely low expectations. I also feared that the menu would feature gimmicky items that might be Robin Hood themed, such as a "Little John Short Stack of Pancakes" or a "Maid Marian Muffin". When I entered, I was pleasantly surprised by interior of the diner. It needs a little fixing-up to be sure, but it has a very classic and welcoming feel. A small two-door vestibule separates the restaurant from the outside, preventing any cold drafts from buffeting the patrons. To the left of the doorway is a unique W-shaped bar, which allows diners to face and converse with one another as they eat. To the right is the main dining area, which is comprised of several dated tables and booths. These, along with the wallpaper, could stand to be replaced, as they look rather dingy. The drop-ceiling tiles seem to have incurred some water damage, and are a real eyesore. In addition, the whole place could use a thorough cleaning, though I wouldn't say that it is filthy. There were only a few others in the restaurant, mostly older folks. One of the things that I noticed immediately was that the blinds were drawn, which only made the place seem dimmer than it could have been. There were a few Robin Hood themed decorations scattered throughout the place, and I can't help but think that a name change, and a change in hours, would do wonders for this place. We were seated quickly, and offered menus that featured a variety of breakfast and lunch items. The waitress was cordial, and made sure to keep our drinks and coffee mugs full. After we ordered, it took only 9 minutes for our orders to arrive. Their breakfast foods are simply top-notch. The egg, sausage and cheese sandwich I ordered tasted homemade, and I mean that in the best way possible. It was genuinely delicious, so unlike the typical diner fare that is so common in my area. The scrapple was masterfully prepared, and the pancakes were big, fluffy and delectable. The prices weren't terrible either, though I can't attest to their lunch menu. If you're looking for a tasty breakfast, don't be discouraged by the Robin Hood's dated exterior. You're sure to find a fantastic, reasonably priced meal at this local establishment.
