Wow this place has been awesome since the new young female manager took over. She is so good at her job and seems to be on top of everything.I think with good leadership you get better service. I noticed the tables are cleared immediately so the wait time to be seated is now shorter and the atmosphere just seems happier?? She gets right in and helps with chips ,drinks ,cleaning plates. That was not how it used to be and although the food has always been great the service was hit or miss. I love any of the dishes with Mole on them and the pico de gallo is so healthy and fresh that I steal it off of everyone else's plate in exchange for my cheese.. The salsa is outstanding with just enough texture to not taste commercially prepared. I'm told it is made in house each day. The Happy Hour deals are good with strong cheap Margaritas and tasty tacos.

This post gets 4 stars for the giant frozen margaritas you get for a very reasonable price. I've only been here once. The food I would get this post 3 stars. I ordered the tres amigos and the chicken was bland. Not a whole lot of flavor The house chips and salsa were tasty. My only other complaint about this place is that it was too hot inside and I ended up smelling like an onion when I left. The place reeked of onions when I went. Other than that, I will be back soon for the delicious frozen margaritas. Bottom line: good place for drinking. Get a big portion of food for the money you spend

I want to give this place 3.5 stars. Good, solid run of the mill Mexican food. The margs here are pretty good as well. Everything is super reasonably priced and the service is fast and friendly. I've ordered a few things that ended up being too greasy but overall been pretty happy with this place.

While it's better than the chain Mexican restaurants, it hardly authentic. Just take a closed Italian restaurant, put in some stereotype Mexican decor banquets and voila. The mole sauce is bland with precooked chicken thrown it at the last minute barely absorbing the flavor. The tortillas served with it had dried out around the edges and were hard. They were probably in a warmer for hours if not days. The salsa was ok, but I'm guessing was food service (Sysco probably), not made in their kitchen. Given the lack of dining choices in the area, I'm sure this place will do just fine.

This place is great for quantity more than quality. You get a lot of food, more bang for your buck. The food isn't terrible but I've had better Mexican food but not around here so I settle for this. The margaritas aren't as great as they should be as I assumed it should be their forte.

Great people, always great food. A welcome addition to the Mexican scene in the burbs!

I've heard noting but good things and it didn't disappoint, I had the frozen peach margarita which was strong and delicious, the house chips and salsa were a nice touch, As for my meal, I had the carne asada tacos with refried beans, the portions were large and the food was cooked perfectly, the menu could use a little more detail about what was inside the taco, I was surprised there was not cheese in my taco. The only criticism I have is the service, it was a pretty busy afternoon and it appeared that there was only one waiter working in a busy dining room, I felt bad for the poor guy. To sum it up, the food was good, the drink was great, the service was so-so and the prices were reasonable. I will absolutely be back.

Excellent! The meat in both the burro Casa and the fajita quesadilla was excellent. The veggies were fresh and everything was well seasoned. The salsa on the table was mild and we asked for a spicier one it was, note it was a smoky chipotle salsa.

  • Ishani P.

The place is an awesome old mexican style setting. Service was quick and easy. The waiter talked just a tad too much but the service was still great. The salsa did not taste fresh. Entrees tasted really good. Margaritas are pretty good. Definitely will go back since it's so close to home.

Wow Wow Wow! The food and service were absolutely amazing. The servings are huge and delivered by happy faces willing to put up with my sloppy Spanish. The Carnitas blew me away. I think I'm in love with this place. Seriously some of the best Mexican food I've had including in Texas and Mexico. Get the fried ice cream, I don't care how stuffed you are. We shared one fried ice cream between 3 people and it was the perfect end to a great meal. My two dates had the Strawberry daiquiris (1 with alcohol, one without) they were fresh and delicious, just like the food at this new family treasure.

Awful! To the guy who said this place is authentic as it gets - you must be smoking crack. Either that or your previous Mexican food experiences consist solely of Taco Bell and supermarket taco kits. (I'll be honest, Taco Bell on a good day is better than this place.) I lived in California for 8 years and this place would be out of business in a week withing 500 miles of the South-West. It's that bad. If you wanna go get drunk on cheap bottle mix margaritas with a bunch of people that never left the Philadelphia area (and the thick accents that go with it) this is the place. As for the food - it sucks. They put American whiz on their nachos. What more do I need to say? My father and I both had several items and they were all pretty bad. NEVER trust positive Mexican food reviewers from PA if you know any better. If you want great Mexican in the area, try Los Sarapes in Horsham. Even better is Cantina Dos Segundos in Northern Liberties. Hell, Baja Fresh is 10 times better. 2 stars because I got a nice buzz on - but even then I couldn't eat the food. This is bad Mexican, plain and simple. Anyone with a good review must be on the pay-roll or never left PA.

My husband and I love this place !!!! We can't get enough of it !! Great prices ! Wonderful service. You get so much food for your money . The stuff can't do enough for you . Best margaritas!

Quaint and quiet. Good strong drinks. I had a lime house margarita and a pomegranate on the rocks. Tasty drinks. Nice night out with the gals. Good service. Clean bathrooms. Awesome decor. They're hiring!!

Incredibly authentic Mexican food here. The chips and salsa are hot and fresh and the dishes are executed with tradition kept in mind. This place is definitely the real deal. The service is fast and friendly as well. My only complaint is that sometimes the dishes feel a bit lost--as if there is too much going on on one plate. Other than his small critique, Las Margaritas is a stellar restaurant and has the tastiest Mexican food in the area.

I have been coming to Las Margaritas for over 5 years! The margaritas are affordable and delicious. No other margarita compairs and I have been everywhere in the Bucks county and Philadelphia area for Mexican food/drinks. The food is always amazing and the portions are generous, I have never had a bad meal here. generous the atmosphere is amazing and the staff + owners are respectful and all around wonderful people Nicole is THE best bartender in the area. Can't wait to go for Cinco de Mayo again this year. They make it an experience worth remembering and celebrating

Great themed Mexican restaurant... and very reasonably priced. Chips and salsa were fresh, my food tasted good (Though my tamale was dry)... and 6 people ate for under $60 for lunch, so I consider that a good deal. Plus, when we walked in the foyer smelled like root beer which was very pleasant, if odd. Would go back, esp for happy hour- they have a whole page of delicious-looking drinks to choose from!

Wow. I don't even know where to start. Calling and asking about a wait, being told there was none only to arrive 10 minutes later and having to wait almost 40 minutes for a table? Or, the waiter who essentially forgot about our table in order to have an extended conversation with a table that he was clearly friends with? Or how about the pile of horrible food that was supposed to resemble a chimichanga? This place is the worst. I know PA has a severe lack of Mexican food, but this place is total garbage. Honestly. Nothing is good, and this location is worse than the northeast Philly location, because at least in the NE location the servers see it necessary to check your table once in a while. There's not a chance I return, and if anyone I know mentions trying it I will immediately inform them to go to Taco Bell. Stay away.

  • John G.

Terrible service. Horrible attitude. Avoid at all costs. Our waitress didn't take everyone's drink order and get extremely rude when we tried to order drinks. Had to ask for the manager and turns out they are all related so that didn't even solve the service problem. I will never return.

I've had good and bad experiences here, but one thing remains constant; every time I go it is ridiculously hot! With the exception of the dead of winter, the heat seems to be on full blast, or more likely it's that the kitchen heat seems to be taking over the dining room. Their platters are kind of a mixed bag. Their burritos, enchiladas and quesadillas are pretty good, very cheesy and nice portions. Other stuff seems a bit off, like their rice, which is lackluster, and their chile relleno, which is always overly soggy and just a mess. Prices are about average for Mexican around these parts, and their alcoholic beverages are decent but nothing extraordinary and overpriced as usual. In general I like this place, really. I like how the interior looks and get pretty good service every time. They just need to make the food a bit more consistent and do something about their heat problem.

Great place for a family outing. Chips and Salsa are excellent and the food comes out from the kittens very quickly. The drinks are good but a little on the expensive side and in a Saturday night there is a long wait but it you can overlook that I would recommend this place. I have gone there at least 12 times over the past year. We just do not go there on Saturday nights

    (4)
  • Tesh S.

there are alot of good choices for vegetarians here....the cheese dip with spinach is delicious as well as the chile rellenos...wish they had the live guacamole still on weekdays order the cheese and onion enchiladas (ask for less cheese and more sauce)

    (5)
  • Jen R.

Some of the best Mexican food around! The beef and chicken quesadillas are always delicious. Definitely recommend the lime margaritas on the rocks! Plus, the staff is super attentive so you'll never go without the free chips and salsa!

    (4)
  • Jamie M.

Just okay. Service was good. Chips and salsa were decent, plentiful, and quickly refilled. Food was on the bland side. The enchiladas and tacos had a lot if meat in them, but the chicken just tasted like plain poached chicken. I specifically asked if the Chile Relleno was breaded and deep fried, which I'm not a fan of. I was told it wasn't, but when it arrived it was. Annoying. And not very good. Sorry to say that even though it's not that good, I will probably be back as I'm not aware of another nearby option for sit-down Mexican.

I hit it up for the first time, in meeting up with a friend, and it was really good. The food was excellent. And, the place has a really cool feel. Definitely check it out.

I've been here several times. Each time is the same and consistent. Food is good, service is good, prices are reasonable. A friend and myself ate there yesterday for less then $20! The staff was friendly, prompt with the drinks and quick with our meal. The restaurant was not crowded when we got there at noon, but got very busy as we were leaving. Recommended for lunch or dinner. Typical "American/Mexican" food, but done very well.

Las Margaritas restaurant is as authentic as it gets. Their friendly staff, delicious food, and great choices of draft beer and tequila keep us coming back for more. The atmosphere is festive and laid-back - how Mexico should be. My wife and I like to dine in the bar-room while watching a Flyers game. If were with friends we usually get a table. Mas cerveza por favor! You guys owe me a beer.

Went here last night on my husband's recommendation and ended the night with him saying he remembered it being better. We arrived and were seated promptly, but then had to wait a pretty long time before anyone brought us water or asked for our drink orders. The salsa was tasty enough, but the chips felt stale to me (not to my husband so it might have been in my head). My husband had fajitas with chicken, steak and shrimp and I ordered a spinach burrito. All the meat in his fajita was way overcooked and chewy, and my burrito was topped with American cheese (or something tasting an awful lot like it). Cheese aside the burrito was okay, nothing special and it kind of goes without saying that overcooked meat on a fajita is a big turn off. The highlight of the night - the mango mojito - which if I could complain about anything could have used some more fresh mint. I do believe we are just doomed in this area to have to drive 30 minutes north or south to get real Mexican food.

We haven't been here in a while because the food was so so and the service the worst. Nothing has changed!

Great Mexican food in a fun Mexican themed restaurant. I highly recommend the Queso Fundido and the Pollo Diablo (spicy city!). Generous portions so expect to take home leftovers. Fried Ice Cream wasn't as good as I would expect though, it's basically a ball of vanilla ice cream rolled in really chewy coconut and placed inside a sweet crispy shell. I think the chewy coconut shavings are what throw me off. Friendly, attentive staff and more than enough items to choose from. I prefer this over any On the Border type chain restaurant any day.

I've been here a few times and no problems until today, came out with wrong tacos, bones in my chicken, dry pork and my daughter's chicken fingers were burnt. Poor service, did not care to help us at all with our food..Overall I'll never go there again. Go to cancun in Langhorne way better. When I told the waiter I almost choked on the bone he just looked with a dumb look. My 3 yr old spilled her Chocolate milk and they brought her another and charge me for it. Trust me, you would be better off going to On the Border.

I'll try to keep this review short. It was a Saturday evening. It's really loud in this place. Service was slow. Food took seemingly forever to come out. Carne Asada was bland, tasteless. I had to dump a bottle of hot sauce on it. Yeah, it tasted like hot sauce with a "meat-like" consistency to it, but at least it had flavor. They have a big menu. They probably shouldn't have such a big menu. Cut it back, focus on a few things, do them well. The 8 year old enjoyed her chicken fingers and fries. They have beer. Free chips and salsa. Cutting edge for a Mexican place. Sarcasm. Damn. I could've kept this shorter.

  • Miss L.

Word of advice: when a mexican place has chimichangas and no agua frescas, chances are it's not really that authentic. Foods not bad but it is definitely on the line of TexMex. Margaritas are delicious though.

Very, very good! We went to dine in a few times and every time our dinner was awesome. We have tried quite a few things and really enjoyed every bit of it, the atmosphere, the people, the live music... Should I go on? We like it and it is on our great dining experience list.

I love this Las Margaritas location! The food is fantastic and fresh, service great and I like the atmosphere just a bit more than the one on Welsh Road.

Stopped here for lunch with my wife on Valentine's Day. The decor was awesome and felt authentic,. Although it was a bit dark, almost too dark to read the menu. Service was quick and friendly. My wife ordered the Fajitas and I ordered the Enchilada. Both were served with refried beans, rice and multiple soft drinks. The total bill after taxes was still under $20. This is definitely a place I will return to again in the very near future.

Excelente decoración, la comida y el ambiente, grandes porciones. Okay, now I am a believer that good Mexican cuisine can be found in my area! The decor is elaborate and tastefully festive, the menu selection is huge and the service is spot on, best of all the food is good indeed. I was impressed to say the least. My eyes took in the scenery of the many dining areas from the time I entered until the time I left. High backed colorful booths each with their own scene gave plenty of room and privacy. I started with a margarita which was straight up with salt, it was chilled and went down quicker than I had expected. Las Margaritas has the best authentic Mexican cuisine around and they have two locations! The one in Philly I hear does more of a bar and happy hour scene, you folks need to get down on some really good food. Freshly made tortilla chips are brought to your table immediately with a large cylinder of kicked up house made salsa, although the heat in it has been different each time that I have gone, keep it spicy baby and I'll have another margarita please! I started with a bowl of the tortilla chicken soup, which was a meal sized portion for $3.95, loaded with pieces of chicken and lots of spicy flavor. I'm not a big fan of cilantro but it worked well in this dish and did not take over the flavors. The shrimp cocktail Grande is served in a huge stemmed glass bowl, filled with Pico de gallo, avocado and large shrimps, garnished with lemons and limes, I shall be forever bored with the American version of shrimp cocktail from now on. My husband is stuck on their huge platter of enchiladas supreme, normally you would get one beef, one chicken, one cheese and one bean, but he has all four in beef and they do not even charge extra. The entire platter is then covered with lettuce, tomatoes, cheese and sour cream. I have had the Cazuelada sizzling fajitas which consisted of shrimps, chicken, beef and chorizo, with large pieces of sauteed onions, peppers and tomatoes, along side this are warm tortillas, Pico de gallo, guacamole and sour cream. The dish comes with a nice sized portion of Mexican rice and cheese topped refried beans. My eyes screamed yes and I dove in, but soon my belly was saying enough is enough and I ended up getting several meals out of this dish, it was fantastic. Picture the largest oval dinner platter that you can and fill that with the largest over stuffed lump crab and jumbo shrimp quesadilla, which has onions, mushrooms and cheese blended in. Now mind you, this combo is not on their menu, they have shrimp or crab and I was torn, so Rauol, suggested I have both crab and shrimp in one. It came out a bit different than I had expected, but in a good way, instead of mixing the two seafood's together they filled each half with one, which then gave me the right to sample each and then to combine the two! I will definitely order this again. I am anxious to try more and more dishes, it has been too long since I have had good Mexican food. They offer many vegetarian dishes, taco salads with your choice of shrimp, chicken or beef, several fish selections including a whole Tilapia, head, tail, scales and all pan fried. Steaks, Mexican pork or shellfish dishes. If you have to be different they do have burgers and fries, plus they have great lunch specials. Maybe because it has been so long since I have enjoyed good authentic Mexican food, but I am happy to have them so nearby. We have been back several times and in my opinion it is steps above Rey Azteca, which is getting rave reviews and I am not overly impressed with them, it's okay and this Las Margaritas is family owned and not part of a chain. We have enjoyed Rauol's and or Suzanne's service, both are very friendly and efficient. The festive music, decor and the mostly Mexican staff help to make your experience better. Now on the count of three... youtube.com ... Follow me and sing it baby! lasmargaritasphiladelphi… By the way margaritas do count as a course!

Just ehh. The food was pretty good but kind of pricy. The service, however, was ridiculously slow. The atmosphere is very nice and decor is neat although they have the AC pumped to negative temperatures! They also crammed 6 of us (1 highchair) at a 4 top, which is kind of annoying when there are a bunch of other tables around better suited for larger parties. When it comes down to it, my visit wasn't terrible, but I won't be coming back.

Las Margaritas is our local Mexican restaurant, and we stop in regularly. One has to smile when inside: a fiesta of color and tropical images. The tables and chairs were hand-carved and -painted in Mexico and are delightful. The walls and frescos required months of work and even if you dislike the imagery, you have to admire the workmanship. The cuisine is good but it occasionally suffers from an abundance of salt. My sense is that the kitchen actually produces only 15-20 unique items but plates them in a dizzying array of combinations. I would rather see a less ambitious menu with more distinct (and refined) offerings. Tequila's downtown would be a good model to emulate. Additionally, a few more fish/seafood offerings would be welcome. A Baja taco surely would inspire me to visit even more often. They do have a fine Happy Hour (until 7 pm), and we loved the spinach quesadilla special that we enjoyed during our last Happy Hour visit. From our perspective, the service has always been exemplary (attentive, accommodating and swift) for places in this price range, and we have been visiting since their opening week.

Go to this location to booze. As for food, no thank you, not after eating at the original. The Las Margaritas on Welsh Road boasted great, fresh Tex-Mex, tasty drinks, and decent, albeit slow, service. The menu here is exactly the same, and the drinks are nice, but the similarities end there. Sure, if you put plates from the original and this location side-by-side, you couldn't tell the difference. But the taste speaks volumes. Every time I've gotten fajitas here, the tortillas have been slightly hard, the meats have been tough, and the veggies over or undercooked. Other entrees have too much cheese, improperly portioned fillings, and exhibit an overall indifference to your taste buds. This is the kind of food that you don't enjoy overeating, and finishing your huge portion is a bit of a chore. The service isn't great either. While the original's service is slow due to how busy it is, it's always pleasant and accommodating. Here, not so much, it's quicker but not as friendly. On the plus side, as I mentioned the drinks are the same. Also, the bar is bigger, which is nice because the original's is tiny. But for food, make the trip out to the Northeast.

Decent service, decent food. I would go again for lunch if someone wanted but wouldn't go out of my way. The margaritas are okay (ordered the Texas kind but ended up with the watermelon somehow).

I recommend everything but always eat steak, beef, pork, or shrimp. The establishment on NE Philly is better than Southampton.

Went hear with the family for an occasion and thought it was pretty good. We did have to wait by the bar for a table (even though we had a reservation), but it wasn't bad. I especially liked that they had Dos Equis Amber on tap - that made the wait fly by. The decor is very ornate and appropriate for the cuisine - it's hard to believe that this used to be an Italian restaurant not that long ago. The service was good - the waiter had everything together until the very end, when we couldn't find him to get the check. Before that, he was always there to refill our drinks and clear away used plates. My biggest compliment to the Las Margaritas is that, when they mark a menu item as "spicy," it is, in fact, spicy - a rarity these days, when even restaurants that mark their dishes using a spectrum of heat ("this dish is 4-out-of-five peppers") fall short. For this, I thank them. If you like hot food, try the camarones (shrimp). Anyway, this was a good experience, and I would go back.

  • Mitch S.

Hi All, This was very average. I went here with a large group and 3 children. The decor is a gaudy representation of how an American would think a traditional Mexican restaurant would appear. My dish- fajitas- was smaller than most fajita dishes at other Mex restaurants. Half the group was satisfied, the other half felt the meal was poor. Overall...no need to go here, except if you crave Mexican and cant drive anywhere else and Taco Bell just isnt in your cards. Next time, I would seek a different Mexican restaurant to try in this area. - MSZ

  • John D.

The tacos here are pure dogshit. I would literally rather have been chowing down on Taco Bell tacos. No excuse for how shitty the tacos were. Shitty grounded-down meat and crappy-tasting cheese with no lettuce or any type of salsa served with it. The fajitas weren't bad. But this place is nothing special by any stretch of the imagination. I would actually recommend Mexican Post in the Neshaminy Mall Food Court for some great Mexican food (laugh all you want. I'd take that place over Los Margaritas any day of the week)

    (2)
  • Stan S.

Holy Mole the Chicken Mole is wonderful here, as were the California Tacos, and the house speciality enchiladas. The guacamole was great as well. One recommendation is to NOT eat before coming here, as the portions are HUGE!

  • J F.

We frequent this one as its closer to us than Welsh Rd after the move. Same menu as the NE location, our order is usually automatic. Guacamole, Fajitas for 2 and a drink each. Our meals are spot on every time. Where this location falls short is service. Its consistantly slow and your server tends to disappear during the meal. Thats what keeps this place from scoring higher.

  • Terri C.

I think I am going to start considering myself a regular here... This place is incredible and I love it. They have the best, most authentic Mexican food available in the area. I have always been impressed with the quality of food, and I never leave disappointed. They have a mariachi band on Thursdays that adds to the authentic Mexican feel of this place. They bar is comfortable, and I never feel rushed through my meal or my drinks. This place has the BEST watermelon margaritas....no contest. I never leave disappointed, and don't think I ever will! On another note, always try to arrive early, as this place can become overly crowded and waiting for a table can seem like you are waiting for ever. That's because everyone knows this place is worth the wait!

We had driven by many times but never stopped in. Decided to give it a try for lunch. The decor is beautiful. Lots of murals, some faux stone work. Very colorful chairs and tables. The menu is very extensive and reasonably priced. As with many other Mexican restaurants, they give you free chips and salsa. Both were made fresh and the salsa has a bit of a kick to it. The portions were huge and the food was delicious. We tried the vegetarian fajitas, and a chicken taco and enchilada combo. The fajitas were excellent - lots of different grilled veggies in a flavorful sauce. It came with refried beans and a really tasty rice, as well as tortillas and the usual sour cream, guacamole, lettuce, and tomatoes. The chicken taco and enchilada combo came with the rice too. The only slight negative was that the taco was leaning on the rice and got soggy on one side. If we had noticed it sooner we would have stood it up. They have a nice looking bar area with some Mexican beer on tap and a ton of margarita choices. There is a kids menu, lots of onsite parking, and daily drink specials. We would absolutely go back there again.

Went for the first time for lunch on a Saturday and was pleased to see that the lunch specials menu was available even on a Saturday (it's M-Sat). I went full well expecting the usual gringo mexican food and was pleasantly surprised by the good quality of it. If you're looking to authentic Mexican then this isn't it. But if you're looking for a Chili's, TGIFriday's type, then this fits the bill. Generous portions, even for the lunch menu, good complimentary chips & salsa. Would go back again.

This is the same crap as their Welsh Road location only bigger with more obnoxious decor. Looks like a pinata full of cliches threw up in here. The food is not that good for the price.

Eh. In an effort to replace my beloved Tortillas, we ventured to Las Margaritas. Service was abrupt and the food was ... okay ... but I don't think it was worth a return visit. It was a Thursday night and the restaurant had a huge party going on along with several tables full. Thinking this looked promising, we perused the menu while listening to the (live) mariachi band. No, I'm not kidding. Dressed in full garb, they serenaded the bar area. From that distance, I could enjoy the atmosphere they provided. We were served chips and salsa while we decided on entrees. The salsa was delicious. Not at all spicy though, which was somewhat disappointing. The chips ... were odd. They kind of crumbled and weren't salted at all. Perhaps they're more authentic? All I know is this chica likes her tortilla chips salted liberally. For dinner I got the chili relleno and cheese enchilada. This was served with refried beans and rice. The entrees came to us lukewarm at best. If they'd been served piping hot I think this place would be worth another star. The flavors were good, again, nothing was spicy but there were a variety of hot sauces on the table so you could doctor your food at will. The chili was gooey, the enchilada had great sauce and plenty of cheese. But since it was tepid it was just okay. Our waitress seemed to have three tables: us, two couples next to us and a family of four. The two couples next to us were served their food not long after we sat and the family had menus when our food arrived so I don't know what the distraction was or why our food didn't come to us right away. Whatever it was, it was unappealing. Our search for a great local Mexican joint continues ...

We have only ordered take-out from here, but it has been excellent each time and rather quick, too. I love that their food doesn't make me feel sick hours later like other places. The portions are huge and delicious! We haven't actually eaten in the restaurant yet, as the one time we went to, it was Cinco de Mayo and we didn't even realize it, so the place was super crowded with drunk people. Probably not a great idea on our part, though!

Go here for the booze. Food = 5 out of 10, kind of makes you ill after you eat it, but I guess montezuma's revenge is part of a mexican dining experience. Thursday nights they have a Mariachi that literally plays as loudly as they can at the end of your table, which I actually really enjoy.

I was in the Philadelphia area and I met a friend for dinner. She was craving Mexican and we ended up here .... The inside looks like a cheesy chain restaurant, Chi-Chi's comes to mind. They don't take reservations for parties under 8, I don't know if that is a negative or a positive, considering the place was pretty dead when I went there on a weekend. The food is completely Americanized-Mexican food. The margarita tasted nothing like a margarita (not good when your restaurant is named 'Las Margaritas'), my chimichanga (that the server told me was the best thing on the menu) had AMERICAN cheese melted on it. Very bizarre. My friend had quesadillas and she said she had the same issue with the cheese. I was not sold in the least on this place. But, I will say this: service was very nice and prices were extremely cheap. They actually had a pretty busy bar scene at one point of the evening. I might pop in for a drink at the bar, but I would not plan a dinner here again.

A chicken burrito is a SIDE dish. What? Loco! Stopped in with a few co-workers tonight (Happy Cinco de Mayo) post working hours. Parking was a joke (Happy Cinco de Mayo), but we easily found spots across the street. We were told it would be an hour wait but we were welcome to wait in the downstairs bar, which was like a dance club. Had a Coronita (7oz for $2) while waiting for a table to open up. I was very grateful to the bartender who went out of his way to see if he could get the Phillies games on one of (the four) flat screens in the bar. Sadly it didn't work out, but thanks for ditching the super busy bar for a few minutes to try and hook a girl up. Also appreciated was the free sombreros available down there. A fella walked up with a handful just to make sure my entirety of my party was donning sombreros. We were seated after was seemed like much less of a wait than an hour and were immediately greeted with a large basket of tortilla chips and a mini-carafe of salsa. The chips were replaced even before we'd finished the basket. I ordered a banana margarita (yum!) and the fish (tilapia) tacos. This was my first fish taco experience and I was impressed. Actually, I was really impressed at the wide variety of seafood dishes they did offer. All three of my tacos were stuffed to the gills (see what I did there) and delicious. After so many chips and salsa, I only (barely) managed to make it through one taco. Who's stoked to have leftover fish tacos for lunch tomorrow? Me. The staff was very friendly, the atmosphere very relaxed, the decor VERY bright and fun, the food delicious, and the prices unreal reasonable. Will definitely return and recommend.

Lower Bucks County has been lacking good Mexican food for years. Unfortunately, they continue to, even with the recent opening of Las Margaritas. For a new restaurant, the place was hopping. We showed up around 8 p.m. on a Saturday night and took the only available spot in the parking lot. Every table in the restaurant had patrons. The tables were well spaced out, so even though the restaurant was full, it wasn't too noisy. No one was waiting at the hostess station when we arrived, although someone walked over within a minute or so. We were told it would be a fifteen minute wait, but we were seated within five. The good news is that their margaritas are, in fact, tasty, and the bartender put just the right amount of salt around the rim. The free chips and salsa were equally good. The chips came out warm and were replenished when our basket got low. The salsa was thick; I would have liked a spicier option, but I still ate my fair share. We ordered the chicken nachos as an appetizer. They were loaded with chicken, melted cheese, and an unusual cheese sauce. Unfortunately, besides a few peppers, there weren't any other toppings. My dining companions liked the cheese sauce, but I was less than thrilled with it; it seemed salty, and made the chips soggier than I like. Things went downhill from there. The appetizer was cleared, and we waited. And waited. And waited. For some time, we were chatting away, and then we finally said, "You know, we've been waiting for some time." It had been more than 45 minutes since we'd ordered our entrees, and our waiter was nowhere in sight, not even to refill water glasses or to suggest another pitcher of margaritas. Finally, one of my companions went to ask about our dinner. Within a minute, two waiters hustled out with the plates full of food. Our dinners were warm, but certainly not hot; I wonder how long they'd been sitting under the warmers. Companion #1 had chicken with chorizo and liked it. Companion #2 had the chiles rellenos and rated them rather poorly; she is, however, something of a chiles rellenos connoisseur and has been spoiled by eating them at various Mexican restaurants in California. Companion #3 had a shrimp taco salad. He's on a restricted diet and asked for several accommodations: lowfat cheese, nonfat sour cream, and a flour tortilla base instead of the fried shell. All of the accommodations were made correctly. I ordered a combination platter of a chicken quesadilla, a tamale and a tostada. The quesadilla had that cheese sauce in it (which was also over the rellenos); the tamale was salty but good; the tostada had bland meat that required a healthy dose of chipotle hot sauce. The refried beans and rice were bland. We finished eating - and then waited. Again. No waiter in sight. This time, I went in search of a manager. Mind you, I'm not a diner who does this regularly. Occasionally, I'll give a server some feedback to share with the chef, but I've never sought out a manager. The front desk pointed me to the owner, and I told him how incredibly slow our service had been. At this point, most other diners had left. We'd been there for more than two hours, and the restaurant was no longer busy. He apologized but didn't seem overly concerned. We still waited several more minutes for our check and a carry-out container for my leftovers. The manager did come over as we were heading to the door to apologize. The bathroom was clean, although one stall was taped shut. The price of the meal was reasonable. The bill for four entrees, a pitcher of margaritas, and an appetizer was $87, but we had a coupon for $10 off. In short: A fair meal (comparable to any Mexican chain), decent portion sizes at a reasonable price, but extremely slow service.

My husband and I just returned from dining at Las Margaritas and were pleasantly pleased. Until Las Margaritas opened recently, there were no authentic Mexican restaurants in our general vicinity. The atmosphere is bright and colorful, the portions are large and the prices are reasonable. Definitely better than the On the Border type chain restaurants. I had the Guadalajara special (yummy!) which consists of a whole mishmash of Mexican specialties. My husband had the chicken taco/quesidilla combo and said it was very good as well. We didn't leave room for dessert (loaded up on a lot of the homemade chips & salsa), but we'll be back.

I've only been to this location once for a late-night dinner. I go to the Las Margaritas on Welsh often because it's nearby work, but I was in the neighborhood and craving Mexican, so I figured I'd give it a shot. I am used to the lunch specials, so the dinner menu seemed a lot more pricey to me. ($11 for a chicken quesadilla I think) They give huge servings though, so if you're on a budget there's definitely plenty to share. We went in about 30-45 minutes before close and I was really expecting them to hate us, but the service was decent, especially since we were practically the only patrons in the restaurant by then. Las Margaritas is a good place to go, but I still think I'm more partial to the location on Welsh.

I would say way better food than Taco Bell but less than Rey Azteca in Warminster. If Rey Azreca moved into a bigger location and served drinks they would not be beat. If you are looking for some Mexican with Margaritas this is the place. The place is well kept and the waitress was available and helpful. Parking gets tight at night so be ready to loop the parking lot a few times.

Happy New Year friends and family. Well last night for New Years Eve we did our favorite Mexican food hangout. I don't think in that we have ever been disappointed in the numerous times we have visited this local restaurant. Last night I did the steak and shrimp "Yum" which comes with the mexican rice and a salad. Wifie did the fajitas del mar a wonderful combination of shrimp, scallops, and crab ...meat. Of course they start you off with a fresh basket of tortilla chips and the most delicious salsa. To toast the New Year with my dynamic brother and sister in law we did frozen margaritas, a Corona, and a pina colada. All delicious, friendly servers, gracious host "Victor". If you have been to the original location on Welsh Road, take the trip to the newer location. Beautiful decor and a much larger seating area. lasmargaritasphiladelphi… Las Margaritas Restaurants Mexican Mexican 765 2nd Street Pike Southampton, PA 18966 (215) 354-4445

Great atmosphere, spacious venue, and friendly service, but the service was slow, and we waited 3X the amount of time we were told for our table. Quesadillas (that were awesome) came out in 2 minutes, but our food took an inordinate amount of time. It's a fun place with some really good dishes, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go there again.

My parents kept raving about this place so I figured I'd check it out the next time I returned home. Even though it was (lightly) snowing out the night we went, the place was still crowded. We had about a 20 minute wait at 6pm. After we sat down, it took a little while for our waitress to get to us, but it wasn't an inordinate amount of time. The free chips were OK, but not the best that I've had. They could have rounded up a bag of Tostitos and it would have served the purpose. That being said, I had the Chimichangas with beef and it was fantastic. They were not overly deep fried, just crispy enough. The beef was fresh and hot inside, and the beans/rice were pretty good. This is why this place gets four stars and not three in my book. This is about as close to real Mexican as I've gotten around the Philadelphia area. A big downside of this place is the parking lot. It sucks. Nothing like having dueling SUV drivers up the ass of my Mini Cooper fighting for the spot I'm leaving behind. There aren't that many options for Mexican restaurants in Bucks County, other than those of the chain/franchise, played out variety. Las Margaritas fits the bill, at least until they open that club they are talking about downstairs and the parking lot becomes a real cluster f**k.

I am a huge fan of Las Margaritas! I have been here so many times i have lost track. Its a great stop for lunch with friends or colleagues, drinks with friends, or family dinner. I have brought my kids who are 1 and 2 1/2, and my 80 year old grandparents, and we've always had a pleasant experience. Food is great, service is great, the drinks are great and the ambiance is fun and festive. It is also not terribly expensive which is always a plus! If you are expecting fine Mexican cuisine this is not the place for you. But if you are looking for a fun friendly experience with some good for and tasty margaritas with friends and family then you must try Las Margaritas!!

What a beautiful restaurant! The decor is unique, elaborate, artisanal. I really enjoyed the environment. The food is quite good, my Tacos Carnitas were full of good ingredients and while the flavors were fairly mild, they were not at all bland. My Pomegranate Margarita was tasty and well made. I look forward to going back and trying more of the great looking items that I saw around me at our table of 6 people. The portions are more than generous, and the salsa and chips fresh and tasty. If you want your salsa hotter, sauces are provided to do just that, so the complaints that I read that is is too mild are just silly. This place is definitely worth trying if you like Mexican food.

Food was okay. Service was very bad the first time we went. On a subsequent visit our male server was excellent. The food is just mediocre. My sister loves!! this place so I gave it a few tries. I couldn't fall in love with the food. The place is really pretty. The meals are reasonably priced. The food was just kind of bland.

Friends always rave about the Las Margaritas on Welsh Road and we tried this location closer to home. It is the same menu. We LOVED it. Got seated immediately even thought he parking lot was packed -- in a very large booth -- all the booths are custom designed. The food was fabulous and filling -- fish tacos YUM!, enchiladas supreme, quesadillas; the drinks pack a wallop, banana marguerita is incredible. The Mariachi band is so talented and full of energy -- we felt like we were in Mexico where we just visited last year, but the food was more authentic. The servers were all very attentive. The only thing was the booths were kind of dark-lit. Menu is huge! There were alot of hispanics eating there -- that tells me it is true to the ethnicity of the food -- puts many of the other area Mexican joints to shame. We are going back very soon.

This is definitely ONE FUN PLACE. The decor is so over-the-top and the margaritas are awesome. It's HUGE---once you get inside, you won't believe how big it is. The food is great---not authentic Mexican or anything, but Tex-Mex. Prices are absolutely reasonable. Fun place to go with a big group of friends.

Decent Mexican food, really good fajitas. The Margaritas are pretty good, not as good as the Mexican post in Philly or my homemade concoctions but I am biased. Good Mexican beer selection as well, I find the place to be pretty reasonable and not over the top with pricing. Will definitely be a repeat customer. One other note, the service at the bar area tables can be a little slow, also check your bill I was charged twice for one of my entrees.

Good salsa. Comes with warm chips. Bad food. Hair in my food. Heaps of shredded lettuce covering a plate of mess. Dry, flavorless ground beef. Dry chicken. Thick layers of melted cheese on everything. Thick and mushy tamale. Very hot plates but lukewarm food. Used to go here with my kids every couple of months - the food was decent. I think never again.

The food is three stars, the service was one star. In terms of food, I thought it was adequate. For the starter, the chips were nice but the salsa was bland. I got carnitas tacos. The pork was tender and the tortilla shells were nice, but again, it was bland. The refried beans smelled so bad that I didn't try them, so I can't really comment on them. I've eaten Tex-Mex in New Mexico and, in Philadelphia, have found places on Washington Avenue that have much better food. Even Tortillas in Willow Grove had better offerings. In terms of service, it was a comedy of errors. I ordered a beer and got a coke. We had to flag him down for another round. When the two waiters came to the table, the brusquely asked who ordered the steak tacos. Of course, nobody answered because nobody had ordered steak tacos. He slammed the plate down on the table and managed to hand everyone else the wrong plates, despite being told who ordered what. When he finally got back to the steak tacos, it was discovered that they were, in fact, my carnitas tacos. This is pet peeve of mine. If you don't remember who ordered what, at least be pleasant about it. And check back to see how everything's going. The decor is cute and the weekly mariachi band sounds like fun. In short, I'd go back for a happy hour. But would not go out of my way for this place.

Chose this restaurant for a girls night out, the atmosphere was true Mexican with the colorful decor and live band . The service was great and all our food was shared and enjoyed, dont forget to get the best pitcher of mango margarita I've had in a long time

Pros: Chips and salsa, guacomoli, create your own combos, refried beans, and of course, Margaritas. Cons: ground beef is dry and flavorless, all chicken is made with an excessive ammount of onions and peppers Festive decor and friendly service. Much larger than the one on the blvd. I like Las Margaritas and will return, however, if your looking for really good Mexican food, Rey Azteca in Warminster is only a few min away and much better.

Loved the kitsch of the place - lots of color and detail. Food was decent, margarita was pretty good. Definitely not tex-mex but not the best I've had ...

Came here with the family. The food was ok. I've definitely had Mexican food that was a lot better than this place. For me, the food was a little bland and you could taste preservatives in the rice and the green sauce on my enchiladas. The chips they give were ok, however, after eating some, your mouth will get tired. With a lack of Mexican restaraunts in this area, this place is definitely better than nothing.

Food was so so, although I'm pretty sure we got some of the wrong stuff, ordered a combo plate and when the stuff came out it was hard to distinguish between the different items. The bartender seemed very unhappy to help us, take our order or generally spend any time actually "serving" us, mostly because she was very busy talking to a couple of guys at the bar that she knew and answering text messages on her phone. the bar area was nearly empty, and every time we needed anything I would have to go get her, and then deal with her awful attitude while I did her job. This was my first experience at this restaurant, and given there are other mexican restaurants in the area, not sure if we'll try it again or not, maybe if we're driving by and hungry, but that s about it.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
