No update in stars and everything I wrote before stays. No opinion change. But as of the 2/5/15 local real estate brochure, the place is for sale and my server said the owners were retiring, so perhaps some changes will be made. I really want to find a great Italian place in Somerset for my ski trips to this town.

I ordered a sirloin and my fiance ordered the chicken Alfredo. The bread tasted weird, and the onion straws left a weird after taste. The chicken Alfredo was bland and chewy. I'm not sure if my sirloin was actually beef. I asked about the hole in the ceiling, apparently the waitresses dad was the roofer. we both took a couple bites and gave the food back. I still had to pay for the Alfredo and the weird onion straws that apparently took 5 seconds to make. The chef didn't understand what medium steak is. We stopped at dollar general afterwards and the cashier informed us how nasty the place was. 30 minutes later and we still taste Italian oven. how ridiculous, do they not understand that an unhappy customer is bad for business. what a shame. seriously, if someone sends a dish back after one bite, you should probably check to see if there is a problem with the food

Sadly, this Italian Oven (apparently the original) has gone from one of the best restaurants in Somerset to one of the worst. We brought some out-of-town guests here trying to avoid the chain restaurants like Eat-n-Park and Ruby Tuesdays. I was incredibly embarrassed by the poor service and overall uneatable quality of the food. The pirogies appetizer was nasty. They were really slimy and completely undercooked (we sent them back since they were still cold in the middle). I think it should be a misdemeanor (if not a felony) to serve frozen pirogies in western PA. My friend, Kylan, order the carbonara pasta. While it's true, the original Italian version of carbonara does not involve cream, in the US it's a de-facto standard. So when they presented the dish, we immediately thought they got the orders mixed up. Once we were informed that their carbonara was cream-free, Kylan decided to give it ago. Based on the looks on his face, it was not good. It was so dried out that it looks like the dish had been sitting in the open sun for days and withered into a lump of glue. The saving grace for the entire meal, and primary reason it's not a 1-star review... the pepperoni rolls & fried zucchini are frakking awesome. We all agreed that we should have just made a meal of appetizers (san-pirogies).

Visited this resturant in many occasions. I have a very pickey sense of taste. You need to catch this place on the right day. Some days the sauces are wonderful others they are bland no flavor. Roasted red pepper soup was fantastic. Pizzas are great.

Italian Oven used to be great. My parents and I stopped for dinner on our way home from Christmas in MD. We ordered the zucchini as an appetizer. The zucchini was sliced extremely thin and the breading was pretty good except there was a lot of oil on the plate which made the zucchini soggy. My mother ordered the manicotti. She said one of the manicotti was very hard, possibly undercooked. My father ordered the chicken parmesan. I took a taste of it. The chicken was extremely dry and tough, obviously overcooked. I ordered the soup and salad. The roasted red pepper soup had a decent taste but there was a lot of grease floating on top of the soup. After that experience we most likely won't be going back.

I can't believe that this place has no reviews yet. I love this place. As an "out of town-er" I come here whenever I'm visiting the area. The food is great, prices are affordable, and atmosphere is very "homey". An excellent eatery in the Roof Garden area.

Visited here based on locals recommendation. I know you'll not get a perfect experience everytime. For a first impression, they didn't do to well. They put us in the dining room facing the parking lot and forgot about us. How do I know they forgot? We waited for 10 minutes (I timed it), I got up to ask if they forgot about us, as I approached a waitress in by the register, she asked if we were ready. If she didn't know we were there, she'd of asked if she could help us. The red pepper soup was delicious. I got the cajun chicken sandwich, I think they forgot the cajun seasonings as I pulled it apart and I got grilled chicken instead. The sandwich I got was OK, not spectaular. My partner got a stromboli, his was good. If I go back, I'll try the pizza, sound like its good.
