When passing through Somerset, Bruster's is ALWAYS a mandatory stop. Birthday Cake is the best flavor EVER! We get a pint for the road, too, because we don't make it there very often! For a walk-up establishment, i used to be surprised that they are open year-round, but they are always busy, even in winter. That's saying something considering there's a Dairy Queen practically across the street! Excellent flavor choices, friendly staff, drive thru window available if you want to go that route. A must-stop if you're getting off the PA Turnpike and need a taste of deliciousness!

Somerset isn't complete without a hand-made ice cream establishment, and Brusters is definitely the one to take up the reins for this position. We always stop in for a few pints of hand-made ice cream, and the selection of flavors is very plentiful and keeps you coming back to try more. The drive-thru window makes it very convenient to place your order, and you can easily see the valley of ice cream freezers inside. The staff takes great pride in making the very best ice cream money can buy, and they're always very helpful and welcoming. Brusters keeps the thrill of going out for ice cream alive, and that is one thing I have always missed from the days of my youth. Brusters keeps that wonderful memory going, and I can never express enough how much it means to me to have a place like this to come to.

So Jeff where do you go after a day's driving from VA and you are in a hopping turnpike town at about 9pm? Brusters of course!!! Our first Brusters was off US-15 in Gettysburg on the way to our summer vacation spot. Both locations about the same size with no seating inside. There was no one at the location when we came here - first night after the heat wave. We ordered two hot fudge brownie treats - about $10 w/tax. They provided a good portion of brownie and ice cream - far better value IMO than Dairy Queen. Friendly girls working here too. Visited July 25/13

When I think of New York cheesecake ice cream, I think of this wonderful place!!! The best there is!!!! The only reason why I'm giving this a four star rather than a five star is because its a chain, and a dying chain for that matter ( not too many left in Pa) They change their selections of ice cream once a month, so there is no way you could get bored with the products. Homemade ice cream, yummy treats and great service.... Who could ask for anything more!!! So forget Dairy Queen across the street and get a scoop of "my favorite Purple dinosaur" or the classic "pecan turtle", you won't regret it, I promise!!!
