First time there yesterday around 11AM. Had breakfast, but they had a regular menu of items available then too if you wanted. Pancakes and bacon were delicious. My friends liked their meals too. Heaping helpings, great for the price. It was nice to sit outside in the back, really enjoyable experience. Thanks Shack!

Love the "back" at the Shack! The summers are great to relax on the patio and have a drink....can even bring your pooch along!!!

I lived down the street from the Shack about five years ago, so it was the best option for a booze-infused evening - I could just roll down the hill if I had a few too many. I remember their sandwiches being HUGE, but I haven't had one in years, so I can't judge. They also used to have Spaghetti-Os on their menu, but don't anymore. Guess they're classing it up, hah. Having had fond memories of the place, I've been going back lately. The food is pretty good for bar food. The girly drinks are priced well and tasty. The tap beer tastes off. I'm not much for beer, but I know what Yuengling should taste like. Get bottles - They're like $.50 more, but don't taste weird and carbonated. They recently added an outdoor back porch area, which is pretty comfortable and lacks the sleepy neighborhood bar feel of the inside.

I'm giving this place two stars solely based on the food. It's a bar, don't let the 'family restaurant' signs fool you. It's the local bar for a small town, so Friday and Saturday nights are like class reunions. If you've left for college and are back on break or have graduated, come here around 10:30 and you'll see over half of the people you graduated with, plus a handful of old timers who have nothing better to do. The food is rather good, which is the only reason I'm giving stars. They make a fantastic cheesesteak, and have some really good soups that change on a daily basis. The chili is really good, it's definitely a stick to your bones meal. Also, they make their own French fries, and I always appreciate handmade fries. My advice? Grab a six pack and food to go, don't hang around.

You can't beat The Shack for a fun (and affordable) night out! This is a local bar, but the menu is pretty big, the food is delicious, and the kitchen stays open LATE! Everyone I bring here loves it and comes back. Check it out - especially if you want to grab a drink and a tasty bite to eat with friends.

Great bar, great bartenders. The owners are sweet people and if you haven't been there you have to sit out back at the second bar, you'll love it. Surprisingly good food as well.

I actually really enjoy this diamond in the rough. Friendly staff, delicious food. Not your typical bar food either! Prices are reasonable, the back bar is great on a nice day and there's a free pool table and darts before a certain time at night. Plenty of beer and liquor choices too! Try it out!

Wow. Some of these reviewers really need to lay off the meth. I've heard of run on sentences but five paragraphs of complete nonsense. Seriously. Get some sleep. It's the shack. What can you say about a place that has upgraded the menu once in 20 years. The food would be better if there was actually someone with some passion in the kitchen. The tap selection is pretty weak... BudMillerCoors and of course Yuengling lager. But seriously. It's a local watering hole. Decent selection of take out beer makes up for the sad tap selection. The bartenders are friendly enough.... The owner. Hmmmm. He used to be the president of Carpenters Local 600. You'd think after walking in lots of picket lines for him he'd actually buy you a beer. Remember....this is a bar in a small town that has a huge drug problem. Don't be surprised if you hear coke deals going on at full volume in the alley. Set your sights to"meh" and you probably won't be disappointed. Just don't expect too much. This is Slatington.

Stopped in for a quick bite on a rainy Saturday afternoon. Found a lovely bartender named Jamie who couldn't have been nicer. The food is good and the place is clean with lots of TVs. Its clearly a local favorite. We will return to try more items for sure!

I've been to this place twice. First time was during the summer and sat at the outdoor bar, which is pretty nice. They had ok beer selection at good prices. Had a great time. Cut to second visit and I'm not too happy. Went here with a few friends who basically wasted $20 on the juke box trying to play songs of their choosing only to have those songs skipped by another patron who had remote control to the machine. When one of us complained, the bar tender tried passing off a few dollars to calm us down, which was insulting. We should have been given our money back in full. Whole experience put a damper on what could have been a profitable evening for these guys, but they don't seem to care. Enter at your own risk.

I am so impressed! Expecting typical "bar food", it is very good! The bartender is professional yet friendly. The price is right, you can't go wrong. I will return and tell all my friends. This place definitely has their act together. We had "fish and chips" which comes with 2 sides, opting not to get the homemade chips though they sounded good. We got sauteed pierogies and homemade coleslaw. The fish was nicely crispy - 3 pieces (perhaps just a wee tad overdone), the pierogies were Mrs. T's but they tasted like church pierogies! The coleslaw was homemade with fresh ingredients and not slopped in sauce. The bartender assured us the kitchen was open until close with a full menu, and she even said it with a smile, even though it was somewhat late to be eating. The Shack is located in historic Slatington so the whole area is quite charming. No smoking, cash only. Total bill for 2, $14.99 (fish and chips and 3 beers)

Descent decor, ran out of some beers on tap and others were flat. Was having a good time until owners came in and skipped any songs she did not like without notice or refund. Wasted about $20 on music that was skipped. Left soon after that.

Okay, 4 stars for BAR food. This ain't fine dining but fish and chips with homemade potato chips for $6.99 late on a Sunday night in an area otherwise devoid of any legitimate food choices (and possibly indoor plumbing) gives this creatively-named place a lot of cred. Despite her vehement opposition to Castro and his policies, Miss Beautiful had a "Cuban" sandwich which made her quite happy (means we're all happy) and all came out quite fast. Appetizers seemed pretty good too, PLUS they had a dart board with real darts (sadly a disappearing convention). An even-handed Derek thoughtfully oversaw the bar's patrons and somehow manages to tease out the personality nuances of the patrons. Sure it's a local place but 'the pleasing odor is half the point.' The valet parking has a bit to be desired so be mindful of that when visiting...
