I've haven't been disappointment here. Good Americanized Chinese take out. Not a date night standout but a good weeknight carry-out. Best Chinese food in the vicinity. My oldest son is addicted to the shrimp fried rice.

The food is consistently good. The service is alway fast and friendly. Lunch is the best value as with most Asian restaurants. They should replace the booth seats or reupholster them since the cushions are worn out.

Used to be excellent food and excellent service. Now it is under new management. Though the menu and decore are the same as before the food is unfortunately not. A big disappointment since they had been the best and most trusted sushi for miles around, in my opinion.

Emerald is your typical American Chinese restaurant, totally like the normal formula. Totally average food.

The owners are very nice people. They remember their regulars and stand outs. Great customer service. Not something you find these days all the time. Food is good and plentiful. Good selection.

Finding good Chinese food as you know if you've read any of my other posts about Chinese food places is hard for me to find. This place is off of 83 on the MD/PA border and offers some good eats. Their hot/sour and won ton soup are flavorful and good. Their spicy beef with vegetables on a sizzling hot plate is delicious. They also have a shrimp dish that is with mixed vegetables in a white sauce that is fabulous. I would return here again and would even bring some friends to eat there with me. Check this place out when you get the chance. If you are just passing through the area and looking for moderately priced Chinese food that tastes good then stop here.

Tonight was a spur of the moment visit to the Emerald Garden. We wanted to have dinner out for a small personal celebration. We've eaten here a handful of times over the last few years. Each visit was enjoyable. Service & food has always been excellent. Tonight's visit was no different. The interior of the restaurant is on the small side - but not overly so. It has pleasant, but simple decor and seating. The owners and wait staff are always very attentive and friendly. Their food is delicious. We started with one of our favorite appetizers - crab rangoon. I have had this at other restaurants and the crab filling has been way too sweet. At Emerald Garden it was fresh, hot and had just enough sweetness. I ordered my usual - special order sesame chicken w/all white meat. I generally have only one or two Chinese dishes that I enjoy. Sesame chicken usually is not one since it's not normally made with just white meat. Emerald Garden never has an issue making it the way I prefer. My husband had sizzling beef. As usual - we shared. And now I have another Chinese dish to add to my choices. Oh, my that dish was tasty. The brown sauce had just a slight hint of spice. We don't go here very often just due to it being a little pricey. Though, the servings are a good size. I think we are going to try to go back more often. It's just that good. I'm very anxious to go back for the sizzling beef.

Emerald Garden is one of the things I miss most about living on the MD/PA line. The food is top notch and the staff are a friendly as can be. We used to visit this place every couple weeks for about 5 years. We were NEVER not satisfied. Since moving to Austin,TX I have not been able to find anything that even comes close to Emerald Garden in terms of quality of Chinese food. This will be one of our first stops the next time we are back in town for a visit.

The best Chinese food in town! Quick service, hot food, large portions. I really like their sesame chicken and the red bean mochi!

One of our local favorites...and the ONLY Chinese restaurant (of three nearby) at which I will eat. No frills decor, super-firendly owners and staff that recognize you by name. Good Chinese, decent Sushi. Favorite special is the Asparagus Specials that are featured on occassion. You will not be disappointed.

I've been going there for over 10 years. Awesome place and amazingly nice owners. I've never had a bad experience, and from what I've had, it's the best sushi in the area by far. You'd have to travel to Baltimore or York to get as good. Their chinese food is also very delicious.

Not sure how the chinese food is but I went there on a weeknight to meet a friend who suggested this place a a halfway point. Ordered the typical Spicy Tuna roll and some other rolls. Bottom line - The sushi (raw tuna) was bad...I mean as in "spoiled or rotten". It was all I could due to not vomit. Once you get tht taste in your mouth...you just ca never return.

Great food, typical no frills decor but nice enough. Main courses were tasty and great flavored. Lost a star for being a little expensive particularly for the area where there are a bundle of great cheaper places to eat.

The only place to get decent Sushi within 15 miles of Shrewsbury, and a source of consistently above-average Chinese food. Featuring a an honest-to-gosh sushi bar and a full-time sushi chef, this is the only place to satisfy your sushi craving short of driving to York or Baltimore. If you're more in the mood for Chinese fare, try something off the "house specialties" menu: they are more expensive, but worth it. Very friendly staff as well.

Emerald Garden features a better quality of Chinese food than that typically found in a strip mall. The specials taste fresh and different, even a touch gourmet. My kids love the Pu Pu platter. The owners and staff are super friendly. The sushi is consistently decent, but lacks the creative flair of really good sushi restaurants. The standard spicy tuna roll, california roll, salmon and eel are nice, but you won't find lots of different combinations and flashy presentations. If I want a quick lunch, I will order sushi at Emerald Garden, but for more adventurous evenings out with the girls or my husband, we go to Ginza.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
