WooWoo! Yet another burger joint in the area, yay! Jake's has a good little thing going...very tasty burgers...they are closer to Elevation Burger than Five Guys. This is the closest thing I've found to Charlie's original hamburger's in Ridley, the place i compare all other burgers to. They also have shakes, fries, onion rings, salads, chicken and a variety of other items. The Jake burger is flatter and less compact than 5 guys which is a bit of a hockey puck. More flavor hides in the nooks and crannies eh? The shake was decent, it didnt wow me but i'll try it again....i did not have any fries or their housemade chips, but will try them next time! heard good things about thier chips... Good luck jake's! hope to see you again soon!

The food is ok. Nothing to special. I main problem was that I paid 10 bucks for 2 milk shakes and they were the worst ever. I had to throw them away. How do you mess up a milkshake? Both were totally different flavors and they both looked exactly the same. It was clear they only used vanilla ice cream and flavored syrup. The strong syrup flavor was to much. I got a chocolate milkshake that looked vanilla but tasted of syrup nastiness. I thought it was odd how the young guy working there took a long time making the shake. It looked like he was trying to keep his back to me and shield me from seeing the milkshake made. He even looked back at me a few times to see if I was watching. I was confused as to what he was doing. Now I see he didn't want me to see him having to make the milk shake that way and even he knew it was wrong. ha ha If you go in there don't order the milk shack. When you stand at the counter and look to your left and see the milkshake area, check out the row of labeled syrup flavorings. I want my money back!

So WAY BACK in time I was supposed to have enjoyed a burger like this. I don't know about that but I do know that the burger wars are back again and this time it's casual dining instead of fast food. I work across the street from 5 Guys in Wayne. I can turn one way and be here in two minutes. I can turn the other way and be at Smashburger in two minutes. What to do? what to do? Here are my thoughts. For ATMOSPHERE, among the three, I rank them #3. As others have said, it's kind of industrial and doesn't float my boat. Ranking them for CUSTOMER SEREVICE is more difficult. The folks behind the counter were very friendly. I had my meal IN and they came to check on me to make sure everything was to my satisfaction. Of course the other guys do that also. I'm going to rank them equal. Now for VALUE. They might be #1 but not by much. A double patty burger, fries and a fountain drink is going to break $10 in each place. It's probably a little less here but you'll get a normal portion of fresh fries instead of the ridiculous mountain you get at 5 Guys. The burgers are about the same size. Finally for taste I'm going to go #3 but once again not by much. My burger was fresh and juicy and my fries were hot and crispy. I don't know if you care but they serve the Pepsi line of fountain drinks as opposed to Coke. I enjoyed a very decent lunch. If all three were side-by-side in the same plaza these folks would be #3 for me but I certainly wouldn't complain if somebody asked me to visit here again.

My brother wanted to check this out for his birthday. I would never have found this place despite it being off of Rt. 30. It is just another restaurant lost in the sea of other restaurants. Nothing in the sign stood out for me. For a burger place, I was not impressed. The size of the patties were disappointing. They reminded me of ones I could get at a fast food chain. However, I did enjoy the milkshake. Nothing too impressive from the restaurant's setup.

Thursdays during Lent are my burgers days so I decided to stop in to grab a cheeseburger and coffee milkshake. The burger was just okay: 2 thin, kinda dry patties and 2 cheese slices. I was kinda surprised at the size since they claim to be better than Five Guys. Well, um...not quite. The housemade chips were the saving grace; they were fresh, thick-cut, and crispy. Much better than your Lay's or Herr's. My milkshake was just okay; it was decent but didn't really stand out. I actually would have much rather gone to Baskin a few blocks down. So, in summation: come here for the chips, and get your burger and shakes elsewhere.

Had to cancel the order because they were so slow. Other people who were there had already waited over an hour.

I can't speak about the burgers, but I can speak about their chicken. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and the meat was near paper thin. I ate the thing in like 2 freakin bites. Then I was debating about whether or not to go to the mcdonalds across the street. Not the best 5 bucks I've spent. I haven't had their burgers so I can't speak of them. But don't get the grilled chicken sandwiches. Its a total waste of money.

Paid, 30+ minute wait, no burger, left. Never ever again.

I went there for lunch and it wasn't bad at all. I had the veggie burger combo with fries and a drink and it was about ten dollars which isn't all that pricy. The fries were cooked just right and salted nicely. The veggie burger was very good but I've had better at other places near by. Surprisingly for lunchtime it was almost empty inside which I don't mind by the way. Tables are a little small if you go with a group of people. Seats aren't all that comfortable but I don't mind if it's a quick meal. I gave it 3 stars because I don't think it's all that special and I feel like you can get the same quality food if not better elsewhere for a cheaper price.

I really don't understand some of the other reviews. The burgers here are some of the juiciest, made-to-order burgers I've ever had. The shakes are also delicious.

The best veggie burger in town. Great fries and shakes too. Customer service hasn't been as good as it used to be when I first starting going here but still- not bad!

My Facebook feed had been buzzing about Jakes way back burgers for about a year before I finally got to try it out my last visit home. Dad and I went in around 2 on a Saturday which was nice, because we were the only people in the store. The man at the counter was fantastic. We were ordering a to go order for my mom of a burger and a Milkshake. They put the milkshake in the fridge for us and kept the burger warm while we were eating. I loved that they had a Jakes way for ease of ordering, that included all of my favorite toppings. The burger was fresh and delicious. The fries were also very good. I hope my mom doesn't read this because I'm about the make a confession. I drank some of her milkshake on the way home. And I'm so glad I did!!!! It was a black and white milkshake and it had so much flavor and was the perfect consistency. I almost wanted to make my dad drive back and get me one!

When I have a craving for a burger and fries this is where we go. Burger is well seasoned, soft tender meat and potato (like) roll. Top it off with the fries and you're in business. Yum. We've been here at least 3 times and have always had a good experience!

I don't know if I've becoming more picky, or expectations are higher than before. But when I first visited Jake's Wayback Burgers a few months ago I felt it was a great experience, but this time around I realized its just not that great. I understand the gimmick right off the bat, freshly made shakes with burgers and home made fries. Its like transporting one back in to the 40s and 50s, but when I was there it felt cold and lifeless. Nothing like some other era-themed burger joints which offered more of a feel that you could see a greaser on a chopper somewhere. Then the burger took a very long time, almost a 10 minute wait. While I understand it is due to the fact it was being freshly cooked, it felt like the system was flawed as 5 guys is much faster with more grills and better burgers. Overall the burger was ok, but for the price it was at, 5 guy offered alot more, plus peanuts while you waited.

I am so done with this branch of Jake's. The staff is highly unmotivated, slow as molasses, and none too bright. I've gotten bad milkshakes but good food when the A team was working. Today the owner was working and when the cashier couldn't figure out how to ring up a grilled cheese (usually part of a combo I didn't want) and large milkshake he just told her to CHARGE ME FOR BOTH! So she did. I had ordered a large fry anyway so there was no need to actually give me the other small fry or drink I paid for, right? It didn't matter though because the fries were terrible, either freezer burned, overcooked, or both. I paid $27 for lunch for me and my kid which included 2 large shakes and figure they stuck me for $4 that they didn't have to. The joke's on them though bc I'll never go back and recommend others stay away as well. Go to the one in Exton instead as they are friendlier and know what they are doing.

The veggie burger was just "ok" nothing to write home about. It was deep fried but still was a little too soft in the middle. You must get cheese on it to give it that extra taste that is missing. The fries were amazing and service was very good. I will return and give another chance!

(4.25) ~ Very good overall Food & service. Our goto place for a Solid Burger & Shake in the area. Note: This small chain originally started in Newark, Delaware;) OUR MENU: ** Cookies & Cream Milkshake w. added Malt = (4.5) Very Good...Liked the chunks of Cookies & could taste the Malt too;) ** Philly Burger(triple size) = (4.25) Very good! Liked the Soft bun! Got it with "Wayback Gold" Sauce, which can be described as a 50:50 mixture of Mustard & BBQ Sauce;) Also got it "triple" sized, b/c it's normally a double, and I needed to quell my inner carnivore;)lol ** "House-Made" Potato Chips = (4) very good * Irish Nachos = (3.5) good...they use their "House-made" Potato Chips instead of tortilla chips;) * Wayback Hotdog = (3.25) pretty good, but messy... * French Fries = (3) ok, but had a weird aftertaste? Best to stick with the Potato Chips;)
