You both are right, the hotel is hard to find! We just came back from a 4 night stay there. The room was very nice and clean. The hotel restaurant sucked! We went down to the restaurant around 7:30 for dinner and were told that they were out of food and that we could only order a few of the sandwich items. Soooo, because we were tired and didn't feel like walking across the street, I ordered a chicken sandwich and my parents both ordered the Lobster Quesadillas. Well, after about a half hour my sandwich finally came out and the waitress told my parents that the bar stole one of the Quesadillas and they had no more left! So my mom and I shared my sandwich and they finally brough out the quesadillas to my dad and it was about the size of a hamburger bun! So needless to say, we didn't have to pay. We also got free breakfast each day since we were with a big group staying there and the food was not very good. There was also a dog show going on and part of the hotel was full of dogs, so we had yapping dogs in the next room. Housekeeping didn't come around too much. Outside the room next to ours, 2 empty dirty plates, forks, dirty towels and a glass sat for about 2 days. They also didn't have enough clean towels to give us on Sunday.

Owned by Blackstone Equity (Wall Street types). Huge executive bonuses. Nefarious pre-payment practices. Zero accountability or customer service. Tired property and underpaid employees extract your energy after long day. Property does not have enough parking, TVs sort-of-work, holes in chairs, "spots" on sofa, stains on floor, cracks in bathroom tiles. Find a hotel owned by local money that reinvests in its people and facility. This place is just a cash cow for lazy wealthy owners.

Sorely disappointed by my stay. Hotel has clearly seen its share of better days - long, long ago, and while the atrium/lobby may make for a nice initial presentation, the guest rooms are akin to what one would expect in a run-down hostel. Or rooms that can be rented by the hour. My room, 505, was as filthy as it was worn. A red stain on the carpet greeted me upon entering, and the stain was positioned against a sofa that had layers of dirt caked on it (like when red turns to a dingy burgundy!) and actually looked as if it was acquired from a garage sale. Other parts of the carpet were sticky - but I don't even want to hazard a guess as to what the substance was. Furniture looked old and chipped. Closet door would not close properly, neither would the door to the bedroom close tight. I expect the sheets on my bed were once white, but were now so old and used, had become gray. Sheets also had an odor to them as if doused with chlorine in an effort to rejuvinate them (or perhaps kill what may have resided on them). Between the sheets was something purporting to be a down comforter which had prespiration stains caked on it; don't know if it had ever been washed or just had the sheets on top and bottom changed. Either way, it was simply disgusting. AC unit, in addition to making a load noise while cycling between on/off produced a musty smell while running. So, the choices were to either swelter in a stuffy dingy room, or stay cool while inhailing musty air; pick your poison, I suppose. In any event, the lack of any fresh air (and filthy carpet) left the room with a stagnant - a dirty - smell to it. On a positive side, I did find the staff to be pleasant and accomodating, but that may just be because they were taking pity on the guests. Also, there was ample parking, but since this Hotel hosts multiple conferences, had to circle around the lot a few times to find a reasonably close spot. Which reminds me: noise. Due to the conferences, and atrium around which the rooms were situated, expect a high level of ambient noise. While the bedroom, itself, is towards the back of the room, this fact will do you no good if (see my point above) the bedroom door will not properly close. Wifi was essentially useless as the connection repeatedly dropped and, as others noted, if driving to this Hotel for the first time, do expect to get lost. And, if you do call the front desk for directions, the most you can expect them to tell you before hanging up is, "It's by a mall." Thanks for nothing.... Oh, yes, I almost forgot. You get a complimentary cookie when you check-in!!!! I guess that is supposed to sugarcoat the otherwise unpleasant experience awating guests and make everything alright. "My room was filthy, and all I have is this lousy cookie to show for it." Bottom line: There is a Marriott Courtyard in the same office park which recently completed renovations. Although I cannot say whether or not it's any better, certainly could not imagine it being any worse.

The rooms are nice and large, and the location is good. The service was really bad though, especially when we checked in-it took forever for someone to even come out of the office to help us check in. We had reserved 2 beds, since there were 3 of us, but only got 1 bed & they were belligerent when asked about it, and no assistance was offered. Staff seemed overwhelmed with too many guests. On the weekend, there were a lot of wedding guests hanging out in the bar area late into the night after the bar was closed.food options were pretty limited so people had to order pizza delivered to them in the bar area. Room service took over 1 1/2 hours, although they at least warned us when we ordered. For the price, I thought it wasn't worth it, especially based on the very poor service from a couple different employees.

Good f'ing luck finding this place. Seriously. It's like some torturous parking lot/street puzzle unless you know the secret back way in (off Hickory). We left this morning and there was a tray of food left outside someone's room....when we came back this eve it was still there. That's class!

  • Faith M.

I checked in and there were ants in the fridge. Next room had ants in the sofabed. Then one of the rooms didn't even have either bed pushed against the wall!!! Ridiculous. Trying to find a decent ant free room has taken me almost 2 hours finally finished at 2 am. I was scheduled for 2 weeks... I am checking out in the morning. Smh

This is clearly a hotel in transition from an Embassy Suites to a Doubletree. There is major construction going on in the middle of the hotel (turning the old breakfast bar into a "regular" lobby/lounge). Two of the three elevators are turned off, so there can be a wait. And the police showed up because one of the guests had a computer stolen from his luggage he'd left at the desk. So I would recommend against that! But, that said, my experience here was nice. I couldn't hear construction noise from my room. My room was clean. The suite layout meant I could watch football while my Sweetie watched the car auction. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Parking was free and plentiful. And the mall across the street meant there were plenty of options for food and entertainment. So three stars. I would come back without hesitation if the price was reasonable. But I wouldn't leave my luggage at the front desk.

I feel it better to avoid this hotel if you have children or have an interest in being in bed before 12am. The bar in the open area echoes throughout the facility and the staff does not really care how much noise the drunken folk create. After repeated attempts to ask the desk staff to help address the situation, it continued. Not family friendly, or even welcoming or even considerate that a family might stay in this facilty.

So hard to find!!!! Finally figured it out though. It's best if you turn on Hickory then turn on Atrium. But otherwise you'll go around in circles. The hotel is clean, we didn't get our king size bed like we reserved because of some date mix up. And they didn't offer us anything else except two double beds. Um...ok.... The breakfast was nice. Probably the only thing nice. The room was just ok, the beds had some stained sheets that was weird but it was still clean. All in all, it's decent. But not top!

DO NOT STAY HERE, RUN FOR YOUR LIFE********* Wish I could give it zero stars...this was the second worst hotel stay of my life, after one that my parents chose back in 1996 for a ski trip in upstate New York...they were greedy and thought it would be cool to book FOUR wedding blocks in the SAME weekend this past weekend, while construction was going on (the bride and groom told us the hotel never told them about construction that would be happening during the height of the travel season in our country um hello August, why not do the construction in freaking January or February?), with ONE elevator working which moved at the speed of smell and took you up when you asked it to take you down, NO FREE BRUNCH?!?!?!, servers were rude and nasty and I had to eat with my hands and wipe them on my jeans since there were no utensils or napkins and no one was bussing the tables, the hallways needed vacuuming as I literally could see with my naked eye piles of actual dirt in the corners on the carpets!, our room smelled massively strongly of hardcore cleaning agents, fantastic for people with autoimmune diseases and allergies...my husband was the best man for one of those weddings and we didn't even get to check in until almost midnight, and now we see that they double-charged us (the lady at the desk insisted that I present my credit card, even though my husband had earlier and the room was booked in his name?). Half of our friends didn't have towels or soap, let alone were placed near each other Christ on a cracker. This is why Philadelphia just is not as together as New York City. I have worked for Hilton in midtown and even though the hotel there was kinda dirty and outdated, at least they have customer service down.

This hotel is currently under renovation so I would recommend calling before booking. (August 2015) I do think once the hotel is finished it will be a great place to stay but that in between and all the noise made this visit not so pleasant.

Tired property with mediocre service. Room dingy and smelled funny. No hair conditioner. Mirrored closet door filthy and wouldn't stay on the track. Lackluster front desk. Notified me at 7AM that they would not clean my room unless I called them due to the do not disturb sign on the door. 7AM!

This was the dirtiest hotel I've stayed in and I've traveled a lot. Walked in to find stained carpets, dusty phones, a dirty tub and was even unpleasantly surprised by a cockroach. And for the price and level of service, they had the nerve to charge $15 for runny eggs and burnt in the morning. Get it together, Doubletree! Also, had to add that I was here with my family for a funeral so this was especially appalling.

This review is for the event space only. (The hotel itself is pretty gross, and I did not and would not stay here) My FI's friend was getting married and hosted his rehearsal dinner here. I'm not going to lie, I was a bit wary when we first walked in, but the food (buffet) turned out to be delicious. The room could've used some updating, but it was spacious and the food was good. (I believe it was called the Hunt Club)

Was there for a wedding for the weekend. There are pros and cons.. As for cleanliness of the room, mine was good. I can't complain- There were some issues in some of the other rooms (as our party took up 56 rooms in total) The bar was expensive, and they ran out of Patron Silver which I was drinking which I found to be odd. The breakfast buffet was okay, the food was actually pretty good. Customer service was horrible. There was no HOT water at all on Sunday when we woke up so I ended up taking a cold shower. Plus- they deducted some money off of my bill. The room was big and comfortable for two people, but there was no vent in the bathroom which I felt was odd. Another plus - after the wedding we had an after party which took up three suites and we were all hanging out in the hallway and in the rooms and there were no complaints so that is a plus. We are used to staying at houses when my husband and I go away but I have to say this place was a good size.

  • Rachel S.

Pool was freezing cold (completely un-swimable, though some kids were trying) and the ambient air temperature was cold as well. We were told by a fellow patron that the hotel was having problems keeping it warm since the weather was so cold. We were there specifically to swim with the kids so it was quite disappointing. We had a suite and the bed was comfortable and spacious. However, if you were sleeping on the pull-out sofa, the heater was way too noisy and there was a lot of noise from the hallway. The breakfast buffet was good, but it couldn't make up for the ice-cold dip and the noisy sleeping conditions.

The staff at this hotel are extremely nice. They make you feel really welcome and special, and go out of their way for you. The hotel is nice, grand, and clean. Only downside is that the hotel seems it has not been updated in a while; the carpeting is old and so is some of the furniture.

    (4)
  • Robyn C.

This is a horrible hotel. Run down, dirty, stained carpet, walls that need patching/painting, elevators barely work, and musty. I feel for the people that work there because none of this is their doing but I'm sure they get so many complaints. Do not stay here. Do not.

  • Prudent S.

Avoid this place, the service was terrible. They make a big to do about how their signature chocolate chip cookies will be served at check in and yet when we checked in at 4:30 pm on Saturday afternoon, they were not ready. They were out of cookies later that evening. The pool area was way too small to accommodate the number of people trying to use it, and the hot tub was completely full of kids splashing and screaming. Many people appeared to receive a free breakfast whereas I was charged 15.85 for your basic free breakfast food. I would not recommend this place, you will be treated like s number instead of a valued customer.

Gym not as advertised. I wanted to lift weights, which they have free weights and a machine that were great. However, no cardio equipment. I ended up walking the stairs and hallways. It worked, but may not work for everyone.

I've returned after a month like I said I would. This time they've placed me in a different room on the HHonors floor than before. The room smells of strong fabreeze to mask whatever odor that exists in the room. Unfortunately, it eventually wears out and it's not pleasant. The AC in room 538 is very chilly, just how I prefer it. The staff doesn't seem too friendly, the only friendly person is the designated greeter in the morning as you leave for the day. Since a month ago, the machine weights in the gym is not as functional. AC broke on Monday but they eventually fixed it after I had reported it (props!). Huge parking lot, when they're busy be prepared to hike. When things age they become rare and expensive (sometimes), just like this hotel. It doesn't mean it's the best.

This is a comfortable hotel with decent facilities for a resonable price. There are problems, though, and I think most of them are due to inadequate staffing. I kept noticing that they didn't seem to be able to keep up with things. Towels didn't get restocked at the pool, luggage carts didn't get returned to the lobby, I had to as a waitress to go back in the kitchen and get the omelet guy. We were asked to wait for our room to be ready (at 4:30 in the afternoon) and told by the desk clerk that she would come get us; she never came, because according to another clerk, she was too busy. My wife called the front desk at one point and got no answer. Don't get me wrong, all of the staff seemed perfectly competent, just overworked. Still, if you need a place in Plymouth Meeting for some reason, it'll do.

The husband and I were visiting family over the weekend. The room overall was very spacious and clean. We enjoyed having the extra room and TV's. No fighting over channels. ;-) However, the bed squeaked when you move to turn over or to get in. It seemed as though they fixed it the second night since there was no more squeaking. The beds were uncomfortable and both the husband and I woke up with aches. The shower was one of our huge complaints. The husband is about 5'8" and he felt like a giant. LOL His head was pretty close to the top of the shower. He could not move freely when bathing. My complaint was the shower head.. it needed to be replaced. It was spraying all over the place! Two positives, customer service was fabulous and can't beat free internet. Overall, the place needs major updating and customer service was very friendly!

Gentleman working the front desk was not very friendly, and was pretty snobby. The room I was in was pretty cold, and the heat didn't seem to work. I told the guy at the front desk, and he said that he would send someone up. The guy from guest services was very friendly, but he informed me that the heater in my room did not work (and seemed to imply that it never does). They gave me another room, but when I got home I saw that they had charged me an extra $70 (I was told that they would not charge me any extra for the room change). Waiting to hear back from the accounting department...I would not recommend this place at all. I'd give them 0 stars if I could, but considering that the guy from guest services was pretty nice 1 star will suffice.

    (1)
  • Ben M.

They were just OK. Nothing horribly wrong, but nothing outstandingly right either. Large rooms, dated furniture that looks like it's been there since the mid-80s. I'd give 4 stars for the staff. They are nice. The shower control is absolutely weird. You must pull this straight out (unusual how it works, hard to describe) with serious brute force and I am a big guy. What really got me was you can go in and buy breakfast for some $14.95 buffet that others on Yelp said was included. NOT. This is a big over-built hotel that is just a little depressing. Not horrible mind you, just needs to modernize and pay attention to maintenance and upgrades. Seemed they were behind the times. Staff is friendly generally. No complaints there.

This is the second time I stay at a doubletree. It felt more like an embassy suites than the last one i stayed at. However, I can't complain one bit though. With our corporate rate, I got free breakfast. Breakfast was pretty good. The room had a living room with it so it was extra spacious. The hotel is also right across the street from Plymouth Plaza which is pretty much a mall with lots of restaurants. Like some hiltons, this was on the outdated side. It was a little tricky to find. I had to make 2-3 circles to finally find it!

Stayed here this past weekend as part of a multi-team youth Hockey Tournament. I admit , it can't be easy to have a hotel full of mostly young boys, ages 7-18, but...that being said, they were so NOT prepared to have a full hotel. At one point , no clean towels to be found in hotel anywhere! After a long day of being out of room, to get back after 5pm and find that our room is just being cleaned and we had to wait outside for half hour, really???? Wrong bar tab charged to my room, twice! Shame on them for not checking for Identification. The breakfast buffet was always short on help, on plates and on food. With all those teams staying (plus other guests), they should have anticipated the crowds. The staff acted like this was the first time the hotel was at full capacity. Gotta say, staff was not the friendliest, many had a sour puss on faces all weekend. I gave two stars, only because of Sylvia at front desk, she was attentive, and helped me with the bill when I noticed the wrong charges. Can't see myself coming back here to stay. Loved the area, but will stay at another hotel.

Any hotel that upon arrival gives you a warm chocolate chip cookie is okay in my book. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. A nice flat panel TV was in the bedroom and another older style TV in the sitting room. The Wifi worked pretty well too. The one thing we noticed was that other rooms had full length mirrored doors on their closets but we didn't. Actuallly we didn't have a closet door. Not a big deal but it would have been nice to have. The atrium was seven stories high with a big skylight at the top. Lots of chairs and couches so it was a nice place to sit around and socialize. The atrium bar was well stocked with drinks and you can also order food here as well. I had a French dip that was very good and a couple of Sam Adams Summer Ales on draft. We had a free breakfast which was buffet style but you can also have the chef make omlettes, other types of eggs beside scrambled, or some waffles. So I thought the breakfast was pretty awesome. The pool area, since it was an indoor pool, was very hot. When you walk in it's like walking into a sauna so after walking by it we decided not to swim. But it's available along with a hot tub, and some exercise rooms. Across the street within walking distance is a mall. Their are quite a few restaurants there like a P.F. Changs, Redstone Tavern, California Pizza Kitchen, and a few others. There is also a Dave and Busters there if you'd like to play some games or ski-ball and a movie theater so plenty of things to walk to. Overall we had a pleasant stay and would not hesitate to come here again.

needed a 1 night stay in the suburbs of Philly. Got this room through Priceline bid at $95. This was a spacious 2 room suite with a small fridge. A good place with decent amenities at a reasonable price. No complaints.

Spacious suites. Stained carpet. We were there 12 nights. POLICE THERE EVERY SATURDAY NIGHT! Local banquet room parties are VERY LOUD on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. Do not stay here those nights. All the rooms face into the main atrium and the first floor noise echoes up and around. House keeping... not so good; missing towels twice. Towels? Really?? Decent prices for during the week stays.

This Doubletree is insanely strange to find, even if you theoretically know where it is. It's RIGHT BY THE MALL, but still, it was a semi-rainy night and I drove by it twice! There is plenty of parking. Anyway, I was here recently for a business meeting. Their assembly rooms are pretty nice: well-lit, clean, and posh-looking. The facility has a spacious central area and a server came by to ask us if we wanted drinks. C'mon, it's a Doubletree Hotel! If you've been to one, this one shouldn't hold any surprises.

i thought this was one of the nicer doubletrees ive ever been to. if you are a frequent hiltoner like myself you know that most have the decor of the hotel from the shining. but this one is pretty modern and clean. the staff was very friendly(remember this is philly, and brotherly love? hhmmm). everything was fine in my room. one day the cleaning lady forgot to refill my towels but thats ok, i had one clean one left. i just hope they dont think im a towel thief because she forgot the day before. when i was at the bar the bartendresses were super friendly and genuine. this guy comes up with a bottle he didnt purchase at the hotel and asked the lady to open it for him, she did so and re-corked it and even gave him some wine glasses(he didnt tip her but she was too happy to do it). The staff is very nice and accomodating. The hotel is clean and spacious(its an embassy suites jr.!). Two large tvs in my suite. The elevators suck and are slow, but if thats my biggest complaint then im a happy guy. i enjoyed my stay here.

OK, I am only reviewing the front lobby bar and the meeting facilities and food - all of which were solid and good. I did not stay overnight here so I can't comment on the rooms. Meanwhile, I attended a nice corporate event here last night (with dinner included) and a colleague drove - so he knew exactly where it was - BUT even he mentioned that the signage is weak and it's very hard to find this place if you don't know where to look. We started with drinks at the lobby bar. I had a fairly weak and not too spicey 3 star Bloody Mary. It came with a slice of lemon and when I asked the female bartended (very sweet lady) for celery she said they did not have it. OK. Points off for that. If you want a kickin' Bloody Mary by the way - try Bar North Third. but I digress... Mmmn. Now I want a bloody mary. OK. Next it was off to the dinner/meeting. The tables were pre-set with very warm butter (had been sitting out for quite some time). The immediately plated chilled caesar salads that were very good - basic and crisp. Not overly dressed. The rolls were hot - which was a nice touch. My entree - wild mushroom ravioli - was very tasty - and looked much better that the chicken marsala (1/2 a semiboned breast with a wing drumette attached - looked very banquet - and ONE mushroom.) I was glad I did not order the chicken - but people ate it and seemed 3 -4 star happy. Dessert was a moist carrot cake garnished with a single wilted strawberry. All in all - things could have used a bit more polish and freshening up. Service was very efficient - a bit too "hurry up and let the staff leave" for my taste. Coffee was fresh and very yummy. Meeting rooms was nice - standard hotel corporate stuff. I have a feeling I'll be back for future events here.

I had my second wedding reception here. (The first was in CA, then we flew to PA for the other half of the family) I arrived sight unseen with no idea what to expect. My hotel room was great! We had a nice sitting area where people could come visit. Everything was clean and we had fresh towels every day. We got free breakfast every morning which was really nice, and the food service at the bar was great for a late dinner. We were here during when the dog club (club, not show!) was here and they were everywhere! Hundreds of untrained dogs tripping people, getting in fights, and not getting picked up after. The Hotel staff was pulling their hair out trying to keep up with cleaning up after them. As soon as they left the staff had everything back up to par within a day. The reception was beautiful and we had a yummy cake decorated in our wedding colors. The food was yummy and plentiful. The guys loved the open bar. The hotel recommended a DJ and Character artist, both of which did a great job. It was a shot drive across the street to get my hair and make up done at the mall. I think my guests has more fun at this reception then the first one!

I have stayed at this location multiple times as a business traveler. I have never had an issue finding the location with my trusty GPS, the rates are always low compared to the surrounding area and I have always found the staff friendly. I plan to keep coming back.
