I was meeting a friend for a quick bite to eat/meet. She suggested this place and I thought Hmmmm? Why not? I haven't been there in a while. I got there early so the line was not bad and ordered their 2 choice salad plate. I had the chicken salad and egg salad- roll and coffee on the side. My friend got the chicken salad and spinach salad combo. Well I have not been writing very complimentary Yelps lately and I'm relieved that I was happy with my meal. The chicken salad was made with grapes, celery, toasted walnuts, white chicken and they did not go heavy on the mayo. The egg salad was standard issue, but I got the feeling it was FRESH which is so important with egg salad and my stomach. My friends' spinach salad looked very tempting and I was sorry I did not choose that over the eggs. Next time. I also got a roll and butter and it was so good. Crusty on the outside and good on the inside and with the coffee- sigh. I was HAPPY. MIND YOU**** this is not a fancy place, not a starbucks, no bringing your computer and spread out. They took out the garbage cans just so they could put in another table. While we were sitting people walked in and met and greeted neighbors. The door opens and closes on the cold weather, but you somehow don't mind. During the warmer weather it will be so much nicer. As for the bakery section, I have had better I'm sorry to say, though their challah is very good. I like their quiches, their soups and salads are fresh. I do not come here to buy my bread or cakes for special occasions.

This is a versatile bakery that offers awesome lunch options (cold: salads, pastas, chicken/rice dishes, hot: soup, pot pies) AND delish baked goods: scones, cookies, cakes, cupcakes, etc. The cupcakes are seriously tastey, and I have high standards.

I agree with previous reviews. This place is the perfect example of a pretty good place that could be so much better. I sampled a slice of quiche with bacon, some chicken pasta salad, and chicken orzo soup. Everything I had was pretty good. I'd also tell you that nothing here struck me as overly special. They did throw in a Linzer cookie on my plate as part of a combo. Nice touch. It was again pretty good. In fact it may be the best thing I ate on the plate. It's a solid three stars if anything.

Good little place. Great chicken salad and soup although pricey. The roll and oatmeal cookie I had on two separate occasions were harder than I would have liked. Very friendly hard-working servers.

This little bakery in the Paoli Shopping Center was the perfect place to meet a dear friend for a little belated birthday lunch. There was a yummy looking tomato and cheese quiche on the counter and about a dozen or so tempting salads to choose from - greek, pasta, bowtie, chicken, fruit - they all looked fresh and wonderful and you can get them to go or eat there. We shared a chicken curry wrap and an order of pasta salad. The chicken curry was delicious - tender chunks of white meat chicken in a creamy slightly sweet and nicely spicy curry dressing and the wrap and tomato were nice and fresh too - the pasta salad was tasty with crisp broccoli, cauliflower, peppers and sliced olives (canned, didn't actually love them). We couldn't pass on dessert of course and tried a miniature pecan tart and a chocolate mousse cake. The tart was scrumptious - a buttery tender/crisp crust with yummy pecan filling that was just the right amount of sweetness. The chocolate cake was good too - again not overly sweet and very chocolaty. In addition to the lovely cakes and desserts there is a nice selection of fresh breads and rolls - french, sourdough, challah etc. There are muffins, various croissants, scones, cookies and brioche and sticky buns. They have a variety of iced teas and high end chips and there was regular, bold and cinnamon coffee on offer the day we went and it was decent. The staff was very nice and they divided our order onto two plates for us which was thoughtful. Now that I have found it I can see running in here for a morning coffee and pastry or lunch for a take away salad or soup and muffin - I'll definitely be back! *Here's a little next day postscript - I got two croissants to go so we could have them for breakfast today and while they were ok in a buttery roll kind of way they are definitely not made in a million layer, flaky traditional french croissant way.

This is a good solid, if a little traditional sandwich place. No modern interesting sandwich recipes here. The prices are fair, and the selection is varied. I had the chicken curry on wheat with lettuce and tomato. Good flavor, could have been a little spicier, but they are not catering to folks to like that. The tomatoes were ripe, which puts them ahead of many sandwich establishments. A good place to go if you're looking to avoid junk food for lunch.

Stopped into this bakery because we missed lunch and were very hungry. It's the only way I would have payed the extremely high prices. 2 items for $5, scone and danish, unbelievable. I also should have taken the danish back for that price it should have been unbelievably good but it was just okay. I can get 4 really good danishes at numerous other bakeries for that much. Everything on the menu was very expensive. I guess I expect value for my dollar and the people in this place are wealthy. I'll never go back.

The baked goods are kinda meh but the chicken waldorf salad is great. The ambiance is lackluster but I usually just get a container of the salad to go.

Food is great, it is expensive however. Also, it could be SO cute inside - needs an overhaul and is showing it's popularity. Bit shabby. Again though, the quality of the food really is very good.

My grandmother goes to this bakery every day and brings me when I visit. Their Waldorf salad is great, the ingredients are substantial pieces (chicken, apple, grapes) and not minuscule like most places. I always get some to take home with me. The baked goods are always great and the staff is extremely friendly, but that may be because they know my grandmother personally and they do take extra special care with us when we visit. I think the prices are fair for the area, I saw some other people complained about $5 for two baked goods which seems perfectly normal to me for quality food. Jackie is a doll, she always serves my grandmother personally and brings her food out because she has some difficulty getting around. I just wish it were closer to where I lived so I could visit more often!

I often head to Elegance for lunch as it is close proximity to my office and I am always pleased. I usually opt for the sandwich/soup/soda combo which is a bargain at around $8. Love the bread, tuna salad, and their soups are always homemade and delicious. I haven't had many of their baked goods but they look great too!

Tasty salads and sandwiches but wayyy overpriced. $6.50 for half a pound of chicken salad? Get real, and that's not even enough for a filling lunch. By the time you tack on something else you are in the $13-$15 for light deli/lunch fare. Service is friendly but the counter is poorly configured. Makes for big traffic jams during the lunch rush. Bottom line - they know their main line market, but don't get duped into spending too much.

I came here for dessert and to try some of the salads that my co workers recommended.. I ordered the chicken salad with avocado, and some cupcakes along with cookies. The salad was good but pricey for a small container. The cookies were ok but the cupcakes were really bad. It was very dry! I could've made a better cup cake from using a cake box. Also, the service was awful! It seemed like the lady was irritated because I only ordered 5 cookies. She was shaking her head and mumbling something and giving me an attitude after. And later she says "is that it?" I said and a small order of this salad, "points at the salad" because there were no names in front of the salads. She said "you mean the chicken avocado?" Maybe next time you should have names in front of your salad so you won't be mad when people don't know what it is. I felt very uncomfortable being in there and my friend, who was with me, also noticed how rude they were. Even though the salad was good, I still give it a one star due to horrible service, and cupcakes are horrible as well. If you go here, make sure you order more than five cookies and know the name of the salad before you order it!

Granted, this review is based solely on a cheese Danish and cup of coffee--I will have to revisit this when I come in for actual lunch--but wow. The baked goods here are amazing, true to the "French" in the name of the place. Fresh, flavorful, and understated--if you're looking for a lot of sprinkles or neon colored icings, this isn't the place. But if you want the traditional French pastry fare in a casual environment, it is!

Love their pastry items, love their bread items. If Elegance is open and you need bread, skip the Acme, and go to Elegance. Their bread is far superior to the flavorless acme baked ones. Try their chicken tarragon salad on a croissant with tomatoes, you won't be disappointed! Oh! And before I forget, their soups rock! Every single one I have tried is outstanding, but if I had to choose, I would pick the Russian cabbage, fabulous! ps- don't go looking for this bakery in Malvern, it is in Paoli. In the Paoli shopping center, directly to the left of the Paoli Hardware Center.

Ever since we moved from San Francisco to Philaburbia, we've been living in an apartment complex near my work. The one nice thing about this complex is that they bring in muffins every day - not just any muffins, but the best muffins I have ever had in my whole life. Chocolate chip. Chocolate cream cheese. Blueberry. Cinnamon. Banana Nut. Every day I wake up and say I'm not going to have one - but, then I smell them and I can't resist. After months of this, I finally broke down and asked where they came from - Elegance Cafe. When I went to Elegance, I was a bit disappointed not to see a shrine to these muffins - instead, there are just a handful of them, alongside chocolate chip cookies (amazing... much better than they look), homemade chicken salads, fresh breads, etc. Everything I've had there has been very good. But consider this review my homage to the muffin!
