The Gin Mill is a great place to grab a meal and tasty beverage. They have a decent beer selection and daily specials. The hand cut French fries are delicious. They come in a variety of favors, which the chef will customize to your tastes. Food is cooked fresh, as you can see the grill from the bar. I recommend the cheesesteaks. For a bar that looks like a dive bar, don't let it fool you--if you drink the craft beers and order food, it can get pricey. Visit on Tuesdays for Blue Moon draft specials and 20% off food from 5-9. Also, visit the Gin Mill's website for additional coupons.

After reading mixed reviews I was a bit skeptical to try the food here or come here period . I am so glad I did . I had the clams and a steak salad and the food was excellent . I wanted to say that our waitress Jamie was such a doll ! Not only was she very polite and caring but she checked up on us and made sure we were good with drinks from start to finish . She put in an extra amount of care and attention that was not overbearing but simply made our experience that much better . Thank you Jamie

The cheesesteaks, fries, clams, and shrimp are great. I cannot understand why they have disgusting shower curtains for bathroom stahl doors?!? Remodel the bathroom, and for bar food, I would give a5 of 5.

Went there hearing the wings were pretty good. They weren't. Menu price is $9 for a lb which will be 8 wings and is expensive. Figured for that price, they're probably larger. They weren't. Typical wings. I ordered Hot and Honey and they were under sauced nor was it either HOT or HONEY. I expected a little more heat and sweet. I discarded a couple due to broken bones. The one and only waitress was nice but slow to get to the table and this was prior to it being busy. We also ordered Salt and Vinegar fries for a dollar more than regular fries. It didn't occur to me at the time but we should have just ordered regular fries and asked for vinegar. They were also under cooked and under seasoned. We asked for them to be cooked a little longer and seasoned a little more but what we got back were essentially the same undercooked fries with more vinegar. My wife ordered the Tilapia quesadilla which she said was very good. This was the only real plus. We didn't complain or say anything about the food but we did end up getting a couple of drinks for free which was nice. Big room in back for larger bands is also nice and lacking in the Valley. Sound system (or Sound Guy) couple be better.

We have held our Halloween Party here for many years. Hawktoberfest. NEVER AGAIN. I apologize to all our friends for the pathetic party that was thrown this year. The Gin Mill owner totally stole the celebration from us. I could go on and on. There are two things I want everyone to know. 1. I spent two hours decorating that place from top to bottom with the Halloween decorations I have acquired over the years. There was not one decoration in the place when we started. Here is the kicker....The owner charged me to get into my own party! Yup, that's right. I realized at that moment that this hasn't been our party for many years. So I was quite upset to have to pay to get into my own party. I was double upset because I wouldn't have touched their food with a ten foot pole. This leads me to my second point. 2. Like I said, I spent two hours there yesterday, decorating for what I thought was our party. There were buckets of cooked chicken wings sitting out on the bar for the entire time. Uncovered. Unrefrigerated. They were there when I got there. They were still sitting there when I left. Ewww. That has GOT to be some kind of code violation. Needless to say, I did not touch one morsel of food. I am hoping that my friends did not get sick. While I'm on a roll, i also want to mention the fact that my best friend ran a drink tab and discovered that the bar tenders thought it would be a good idea to throw everyone's drinks right on their tab. The staff were MEAN. Period. Give this place a miss my friends. It is full of dirty, greedy people. I'm glad not a lot of people showed up. I'm tired of that jerk making a profit off of our celebration. Next year, we are bringing back a true Hawktoberfest celebration. And we won't be anywhere near the Gin Mill.....

Hmm. Not sure what to say about this place. Heard good things, mostly about their wings. Decided to try it out on a weekend night. When we got there around 8, the place was moderately busy. As the night went on it was less so. I was surprised at first but after our experience, I think we know why. So we decided to just get some appetizers. Basket of "Fair Fries" and chicken nachos. Fries were good, would get them again. Nachos, not so much. The portion was ridiculously small for the price and there may have been 10 tiny pieces of chicken sprinkled on top. Combine that with some of the strangest nachos chips I've eaten, kinda sweet and had the texture of a deep fried pastry. We agreed we'd never get them again. As for drinks, well we had to ask because there is no drink menu anywhere to be seen. You'd expect at least a beer list for the patio. Nope. So we skipped the wings this time. But we will visit here again just to see if the experience is different and hopefully the wings live up to the hype.

Apparently do not come here during the day when the cook who looks 17yrs old is learning to cook! Three of us ordered all different items and none were good. Cheesesteak overcooked to the point where it became chard pieces of meat, meatball undercooked?!?! And a burger with a half inch of charged outside that was supposed to be medium!! The garlic parm fries were lifeless limp with some garlic thrown on. Nothing like normal. I will not come by for lunch again! Lesson learned...

We love this place. The decor is hip for our area (they do need new booths), the staff is super friendly, and accommodating. The food is very decent "bar" food: mostly burgers, wings, cheese steaks, pierogies, quesadillas, soups which are freshly prepared and reasonably priced. There's a large wrap around bar serving mixed drinks, martinis and drafts. The crowd is mixed and lively. On the few occasions where we were made to wait too long or served less than par food, they quickly and cheerfully made it right for us. In mild weather, the sidewalk patio is enjoyable with lovely flower boxes and umbrella tables. This is our favorite local place for a quick bite and a bit of socializing. My only complaint is that it can be very noisy (and painfully so if you happen to be seated near the music speakers.)

The menu although limited to typical bar fare is good but pricey for what it is.. Wings are half price Wednesdays ($4 for 8 wings). Nice rotating and seasonal beer selection. I'll warn you though, if you are looking for a cheap dive bar, this isn't your bar. They tend to raise the prices every few months which gets annoying.

The wait-staff is hot. We love Sharon and Shannon (and I love Scotty.) Food is typical bar-fare but has been changing weekly do to a bit of soul-searching on the part of the owners'. They have changed their name to the Gin Mill but it is not advertised that way yet. Lots of shuffling going on . It will be interesting to see how it all sorts out. For now, we like hanging out here, especially on Wednesday Wing Night.
