The best tomato pie I ever had. I got one "red" and one with "cheese and pepperoni". Took them to a party (with wings from PJ Whelahan's") and I got the best compliments, everyone wanted directions to the place. I had their pies before at other's homes, but never ordered myself. What a treat, a nice store, pleasant employees, a quick checkout, and I was on my way. The sauce on the pie you just want to lick off of your fingers, and I did. The pies were served at room temperature at the party, and they were out of this effin world. And the next day I heated up some leftovers, for a second day of heaven. Tomato pie better than this does not exist.

It's very simple - there is NO tomato pie to compare with Corropolese. Sorry. My family has been buying tomato pies for years. My favorite thing to do is, once the tomato pie is home (a full sheet always), I immediately eat all four corners. They are my favorite. My family also buys their rolls for special occasions. They are perfect for lunchmeat sandwiches, hot meatball sandwiches, or hot roast beef. In conclusion - if you think there is a tomato pie out there that beats Corropolese, your taste-buds lie and you have my sympathies. More tomato pie for me!

I want to marry their tomato pie, get it pregnant, then eat it's babies. That's how good it is. And that's all you really need to know hahaha. It's amazing. Their rolls are also always fresh and delicious and they have a really nice, helpful staff. Go here for any party you have and you'll have some really satisfied guests.

I can not believe I did not find this place sooner. The tomato pie is one of the best I have ever had and it is HUGE. The pies with other toppings such as peppers both hot and sweet and pepperoni are also very tasty and you can mix and match. Tried the apple fritter which was full of apples and an excellent version. Can't wait to come back to try some sandwiches and other goodies.Everything looks good.

I've never heard of tomato pie until someone recommended corropolese. I usually get the plain and heat it up a bit in the toaster oven. My husband likes it cold. The bread is fluffy yet crisp, the sauce is soooooo tasty and sweet. I could eat the whole pie myself. I've also gotten the pepperoni and cheese which is yummy. I've gotten their cookies which are not the greatest, but I'm from Brooklyn where there's an Italian bakery at every corner! The rolls are very fresh and cheap. The deli meats are really good and everyone seems to order potato salad, I'll have to try that out next time. They also sell their delicious tomato sauce, so I might try making my own tomato pie.

As always they do a great job w/ everything. We stopped in for a dine in lunch & devoured a lg zep, potato salad, a pickle, & a bag of chips. Cheap, tasty, & a nice little dining room is clean

This is THE BEST tomato pie around. I dont care what anyone says. It cannot be beat. Born and raised in Norristown, I have been coming here and stuffing my face with tomato pie at family gatherings since I had teeth. Sweet sauce, some Parmesean Cheese, and thats about all you need. I take one of these to almost any sporting/drinking related event/party and it is always a hit. And VERY cheap too. They also have an awesome deli with a great selection of Italian cold cuts. They bake their rolls fresh, and their take on a Kaiser is my favorite roll in the Philly Area. Worth the drive from just about anywhere. Be sure to call and order in advance on days of Eagles games!

Offered to bring the Tomato Pie to a party and wondered why people snickered when I said I would get it at a place near me. Someone said Go to Corropolse! Let me tell you, this is MY new place to buy Tomato Pie! The crust is thick and the sauce is sweet...you can get it plain, you can get it with toppings. Once the box was opened the slices were gone in a flash. It is worth the drive! 5 stars and 5 Yums!

Went on a tomato pie taste test road trip today between Corropolese, Marchiano's, and Conshohocken Bakery and all three of us came to the conclusion that Corropolese had the best sauce of any tomato pie. Though the crust award goes to Conshohocken, Corropolese won the best taste honors and indeed came out on top as best red pie. It had a very sweet and delicious sauce that's laid on thick while Conshy had rich, dense crust that is savory, and covered in a thin layer of tasty red sauce. Because yelp only allows you to vote on a five star system, I'm giving both Conshy and Corropolese 5 stars. But if you're making the trip, Corropolese is the place to go. 1/4 Pie Price: Corropolese: 3.85 Marchiano's: 4.00 Conshohocken: 3.60

Ah my search for good pizza ends! If only it were closer to where I live. But on the plus side it is close to my work. This little gem is tucked away in an unassuming plaza on Old Arch. You know you have stumbled on to a diamond in the rough when there is a line at the counter & the register and it wasn't even lunch time yet! This is a great deli & bakery. Their dough for is excellent because it is all made in house of course. Their deli selection is large with some harder to find items. I didn't get to sample too much on my first visit but I am definitely going back and will update this as I do so!

  • Marc S.

Corropolese makes a great Italian hoagie with fresh ingredients on a great roll at a very reasonable price. Tomato pie is just as great as everyone says it is. It is the tomato pie all against which all other tomato pies are measured. Maybe it's not the absolute best ever, but it's the best I've had. And for the price, you can't beat it.

The tomato pie is to die for!!! Delicious. I am now hooked!!! Wish I lived closer. Next time I would like to try it with sweet peppers. Sounds like a fantastic combination!

Some of the best Italian food you'll ever have, anchored by their amazing Tomato Pie. This will be short review even though this place is amazing and lives up to the hype. Part Italian market and part Italian restaurant, they serve pretty much everything Italian you could ever hope for - pizza, strombolis, bread, and cookies. The main draw of the place is the Tomato Pie: for an entire sheet it's only $14, and it's some of the best in the area. If you want authentic Italian food, or love Tomato Pie, stop by Corropolese.

Growing up in Norristown (that's Nah-ris-own), there was never a single birthday, holiday, picnic, or any other sort of social gathering without a Corropolese tomato (tah-may-tuh) pie. I've had it at weddings. Seriously. I've always been a "corner" person myself, but sometimes that gooey center piece oozing with sauce just hits the spot. Some might say it's an "acquired taste," but nearly every person I've introduced to Corropolese tomato pie takes one bite and totally "gets it." I've tried other excuses for tomato pie, but there is no other in the world that can hold a candle to Corropolese. The downside: It's nearly impossible to stop eating it. If you were to give a food "must-stop" tour of Norristown, number one on the list would have to be Corropolese followed by a zep at Eve's and a slice of Sicilian at Via's.

Holy Moses! I've found the Holy Grail of tomato pie!!!! I haven't tried anything else on the menu, but believe me, I'll be updating as I eat my way through this place. I'm already on slice #2 of the day and it's only lunch time. Good thing I'll be going to the gym tonight cause this is so. so worth it!

Tomato Pie - you may think you know what that is - but until you have it from Corropolese, you haven't had it before. It has been a staple at every party that I've had over the past 30 years. I bring it to 10 Eagle's tailgates per year. It is the real deal. Aside from the tomato pie - the rolls are excellent, deli hoagies fat and reasonable (only lunch time), and the cookies/pies are the best!

  • Bj L.

The only place to go for tomato pie. The sauce sweet and savory. The dough is soft and chewy. I find any excuse to go to Norristown that I can. It's just the best.

Living in Florida, it seems no one has ever heard of tomato pie, so bringing some back with me after a trip up north, everyone was in for a pleasant surprise. and of course, I couldn't think of a better way to introduce my friends to tomato pie than to bring back Corropolese. No matter what anyone says, they make the best. Something about the taste of their sauce it is unforgettable. Every family party we have always includes their tomato pie, and growing up even our school would get it for special days. Even if you weren't raised on it, I'm pretty sure you'll love it forever too!

When I was a kid, it was a huge deal whenever my Great-Aunt Mary would make the drive from Norristown to Hammonton, NJ, in her big ol' Caddy with a trunk full of Corropolese tomato pies and bags of candy and other old lady-ish, gonna-spoil-you-rotten treats. Those damn tomato pies wouldn't last two whole days in my grandparents' house--my relatives practically fought each other for the best pieces (ends, but not corners!). And the pie was so good, heating it in the oven wasn't even necessary. In fact, it tasted much better at room temperature, or even cold. I haven't had a Corropolese tomato pie in a few years but prior to that, the deliciousness was always, ALWAYS consistent. Imagine a sweet, thick sauce over what is quite possibly the tastiest bakery pizza dough ever, topped with a light dusting of Parmesan cheese. Yum and, uh, more yum. When Aunt Mary kicks the bucket (she's nearly 90 years old!), I'm pretty sure someone is going to have to order a shit load of Corropolese tomato pies to console all the old coots in the fam. Fingers crossed I get to eat one again before that happens.

I don't really care for tomato pie. I'm a meat and cheese guy. Yes, I am fat. But because I trust my fellow yelpers I tried the tomato pie. And pepperoni pizza. Again, I'm fat. The T-pie was excellent. The crust was tasty and not too thin not too thick. The tomatoes were sweet and flavorful and not pasty like most T-pies I've had. The pep pizza was good too. It cost me about $10 total for the both. Portion wise it was like a decent sized personal pizza. My only complaint was that they were served cold. What's up with that??? Good shit though. Respect.

Best tomato pie...........If your having a party or just for something to leave out for guests on a Saturday do yourself a favor and pick up a large sheet.

Corropolese is like DiBruno Bros., but without the added cost and with an old school, authentic, Norristown Italian feel to it. I grew up eating their legendary red pie, a rectangular pizza served cold. A staple in much of the Northeast, Corropolese does it better than anyone. They have a great selection of baked goods, imported pastas, sauces, and other essentials. When I get that jonesin' for red pie, I go out of my way to hit Corropolese. Don't ever have a summer party without one!

I have never been to Corroplese or Norristown, PA, but the tomato pie looks fantastic. I am positive that the owners and chefs put all their heart and soul in creating this amazing looking pizza. Norristown people are so spoiled with all the wonderful dining choices available to you.

Love the smell as soon as I walk in the store. I felt like I was back in Philly walking in the Italian Market back in the good old days. The food is delicious. We ordered roast beef, tomato pie, sweet and hot peppers, mozzarella and tomato. There wasn't any food left over. It was a big hit!

  • Virginia C.

The sweet tomato and spinach pie is delicious. It was so delicious that I wish I brought a pie back with me on my flight out of PHL. Besides the pies, they have a food grocery store of deli meats, pasta, breads, cookies. I so wished I lived above this place and could have sweet tomato pie every morning.

If you find yourself at a graduation party or any other party this summer and the tomato pie isn't from Corropolese, LEAVE IMMEDIATELY! Corropolese is a Norristown institution as they say. Their pies are staple at every party we host and every party we go to. Just take one bite and you'll understand why this place has lines out the door every major holiday. Why are you still reading this? Go grab a Corropolese tomato pie right now!

I'm so confused as to why this place gets such great reviews. My husband and I have been dying to try this place - based on the reviews. We made an attempt a few Sundays ago only to realize they were closed at the time we wanted to order. Finally, we tried the place tonight and ordered a quarter sheet of sweet pepper pizza and a quarter sheet of spinach pizza. The sweet pepper pizza was so dry and hard my husband ate one bite and couldn't stomach anymore. It was dry to the point that we wondered if the garlic oil/olive oil was accidentally left off??? The spinach pizza was much better and more moist. Still, it wasn't much better than what you might find in the frozen food aisle at a grocery store. I'm so disappointed :( We were really hoping this might be a new 'go to' place for us. We will keep on searching. My husband wound up eating Captain Crunch Berries for dinner.

The tomato pie is an ICON. It embodies every wonderful Italian family party memory since I can remember. The pie is always good, always fresh and comes so many different ways. Thank you Corropolese for putting a smile on my face and your delicious pies in my tummy. The traditional tomato pie has a sweet homemade sauce sprinkled with Romano cheese. A close second favorite is the sweet pepper pie with oregano.

It was good, but it wasn't great. It was a little pricey and compared to Aversa's Bakery it just wasn't as good.

I walked into Corropolese Bakery having almost no idea what to expect. I didn't know anything about it except for that when I asked my car's GPS to find the bakery closest to me while I pulled out of the parking lot at Impact Thrift, it came back at me with directions to Corropolese. Boy am I glad it did. I wanted a small treat and the baklava here absolutely hit the spot. They are the best baklava I have had in a looong while. The phyllo dough was crispy and light, the nuts were deeply roasted with a nice dry crunch, and the honey was added with a light touch, which I prefer--too often baklava is soggy and sickly sweet, but this was just perfect. I also bought two small cannoli filled with ricotta and chocolate chips. This was a bit of a gamble for me--I'm not a huge cannoli fan, or at least, I didn't *think* I was much of a cannoli fan until I bit into the light, crispy shell and tasted the creamy richness of the ricotta studded with tiny chips of bitter chocolate. Like the baklava, the cannoli was not too sweet, which allows you to taste the blend of all the flavors--the cookie shell, the cheese, the chocolate, all coming together without being overpowered by sugar. My husband, much more of a cannoli connoisseur than I, was also very impressed and called it the best cannoli he's eaten in the Philadelphia area. In addition to a deli, hoagie counter, pizza counter, and bakery area, Corropolese Bakery offers a wide variety of Springfield Pasta Company brand pastas, in case you want to pick some of that up while you're there. I look forward to getting back over there to pick up some of their tomato pie next time!

If I were to give you, or better yet ask you what could you purchase for $4.40 your answer would be? Now lets think for a moment what you can buy for that price, something of quality with the freshest taste to back it up. I'll give you a minute, right nothing but Corropolese just gave you that answer. I want to thank David P. for recommending this gem of a place to me. Walking up and in the store alone you are greeted with beautiful scent, that enticing aroma of fresh herbs and spices. You know there are certain aromas' that your senses pick up would make you drop everything go, just to fill the curiosity. I was like a bear to honey, making it extremely difficult to walk away from. This is that place that has possessed me, forcing me to walk closer to that gorgeous display of mouth watering goodness in a fresh pizza. The displays of their well known tomato pie, to the specialty creations they offer. There were many options to go from, and her name was Bruschetta. Freshly made, with chopped tomatoes, the scent of that fresh basil and garlic lingering in the air taking over . Lightly dressed in a marinate of oil and balsamic , with a touch of salt this was my heaven. Nothing from a can, nothing that sat in a steel dish overnight giving you a mush like taste. Simply perfect, delicious with every bite , Corropolese you won me over. Then there is that bread they make with a scent of just out of the oven freshness that can't be matched. Talk about a hoagie, a monster hoagie on that fresh baked bread. I scream uncle, you win I give up, but then you just reel me back in. These guys also make a rotisserie chicken with their own blends, their own herbs that will make you just stop on a dime when it hits you. An Italian shop done right with all the amenities for a traditional meal, to just getting a jar of Nuetella with the fresh rolls. Their desserts oh boy, this is sweet tooth heaven as you enter you can't miss that beautiful display. Great place, great people , friendly service as I was talking with an employee in Amanda. They make you feel like you are at home, helping you out with any questions. Clean and fresh with seating inside for you to enjoy. The prices are unreal, for the amount you will receive it is like you are stealing from them. Thank you Corropolese, you guys just gained another loyal patron.

I was asked to pick up an order of couple of tomato pies for my friend's party last Sunday. I didn't expect much but the whole experience left me wanting to share my thoughts. I am not a fan of tomatoes but one bite into this pie got me hooked. It was crusty and delicious. Everyone at the party enjoyed it. I have always thought of tomatoes as this gooey mess that is only meant to be a filler but a taste of this pie changed my whole perspective on this.

Slice of the old family Must try things: 1: Pizza - my favorite is the spinach pie but tomato pie is the classic 2: Coleslaw - delicious and home made. They have lunch meat, party trays and awesome desserts like cookies, cakes. Helpful staff and a favorite of my house!!

Hands down the best Tomato Pie around. I grabbed a corn beef special while I was there and it was awesome. I will stop in again to try a few more of their sandwiches.

Growing up just outside of Norristown, PA this always was and still is the place to go for an authentic tomato pie! No party is complete without a Corropolese (endless pronunciations) pie. The sweet tasting sauce makes this pie a pure delight! I prefer to chill the pie and allow the sauce to marinate into the bread. For me, nothing beats an overly sauced middle piece. Convenience is the name of the game here as well. You can almost always just walk in and grab a full or qtr sized pie. The staff is churning out pies non-stop. Just grabbed a qtr pie to-go for a cool $4! They do have a small area to dine-in. This bakery has been adding locations (currently at 4) and who knows, maybe some day will open up in Delco.

  • Bert B.

I regret that it took me a year and a half working in East Norriton before first going to Corropolese. Their tomato pie is the best I've ever had, no questions asked. I prefer the regular with extra Parmesan on top, but the sweet pepper tomato pie is also good. A quarter pie is more than enough for one person, but it keeps well overnight. Their sandwiches are also awesome. My favorites are the meatball and the hot roast pork. They use their own rolls, which are soft and delicious, for all their sandwiches. They also stock a wide variety of baked goods and prepared dishes, as well as a huge selection of (mostly Italian) ingredients, condiments, sauces, etc.

Okay, you guys (or you's guys, if you prefer): When it comes to tomato pie, this is it. You've found it. There is simply no comparison. In fact, there may be a law (religious or otherwise) stating that it is against all that is natural to have tomato pie from any other establishment*. The truth is, they've been doing this for so long that they have clearly perfected the art. The sauce is sweet and robust and the crust toothsome and delicious. As far as their other products, you can expect high quality all the way around. Their rolls and breads are great, their sandwiches good, and anything off of their catering menu will be sure to please. I've had better meatballs (the last batch I had was a bit gristly), but generally everything I've had I've loved. A good bet if you're trying to win over a local. *Okay, so no law exists, but just try to give any other tomato pie to a family of Italians and you may want to stand back. Or run away.

I love my corropolese tomato pie! This stuff is off the charts delicious! I am not a fan of the deli, had a sandwich from there before and had a better one at the Plymouth Produce store for a cheaper price down the road. They have a large selection of italian groceries, but again higher prices for the same stuff that I can find elsewhere. The tomato pie is definitely unique though!

Lived near here for years and just found this place 2 weeks ago. Have been there a few times since. Tomato pie was awesome! Especially the spinach one. And incredibly reasonably priced. I will never buy pizza from anywhere in this area again as long as I can pick up a sheet of pie from here. Desserts are amazing. Tried the Almond treasures and the pecan bites. Both great. But the cannoli cake I got today was so damn good. Has to be in the top 3 best cakes of my life if not the best! This place is a gem in this supermarket-saturated area.

Great food. They need more people behind the deli counter, especially on Sundays which is prime time. Basic buissness principals, if you ask me. Workers are very nice despite the "rules" : no cell phone use at counter, leaving the counter during an order is a no no and you can't lean on the counter either. All reasonable requests. Just don't make a sign alluding to it. It makes your customers feel as though they are 4th graders. Ha! Great desserts as well.

A friend of mine from the West Chester area introduced me to the tastebud pleaser known as Corropolese's tomato pie. I enjoyed it so much, in fact, that she sends me pics whenever she has one because she is really mean and enjoys tormenting me her friend from Jersey. Nothing compares to this pie. Warmed up, cold or room temperature -- it was amazing. Perfect seasoning. Perfect crust. Perfect texture in the tomato sauce (or is it gravy?). Shortly after my love affair with this tomato pie began, I had the opportunity to visit Corropolese's and grab a pie to take to a friend who just had a baby. Who needs to make a dish of anything for a new mom when you can take one of these beauties? Corropolese's is a deli, bakery and market all in one. The bakery selection was more than I anticipated. I really expected to walk in and have a choice of a few breads, some doughnuts, deli meats and the famous tomato pie. WRONG. It was sensory overload. There were cupcakes, cakes, cannolis and breads, along with the tomato pie (which, by the way, is available in two sizes, I believe, but don't mess around --- just get the big one. Trust me). The deli had the whole shebang of meats and cheeses and anything you might desire to accompany them. The market had pastas and jarred sauces and packaged goods. So much to look at and take in. But, like the tomato pie addict that I am, I grabbed my pie and ran (after paying for it of course). Just go and get one. And get one for me, too. I'll meet you near the Ben Franklin Bridge.

Now, I am always skeptical whenever someone tells me that such and such a place has the best x (cheesesteak|hoagie|pizza, etc) in the area. The inner contrarian in me bursts to the fore and wants them to be wrong, wants to prove that nay! you are no judge of fine haggis, sir! So when I was told that Corropolese had the best tomato pie in the area, I mounted my horse and set forth to disprove the knave. After galloping around the block twice because I am unfamiliar with the area, and because my horse came equipped with "Apple Maps," I found this home of the reputed "best" tomato pie and entered. I was sure by the spartan looks of this place that I would triumph in my refutation of the proposition. And so I obtained the tomato pie in question, paid the nice person behind the counter, and set off to my abode, already tasting my victory. Alas, tempted by the haunting smell coming from the box, I was also tasting the pizza and trying not to get sauce my horse. I was tasting defeat. This really was the best tomato pie in the area. And so it is with no shame that I tell you that I was wrong. This is indeed the best tomato pie. Please do set out to prove me wrong. Perhaps you will be successful. Or perhaps you too will be writing an elegy for your prior confidence in the matter.

...and so it came to be in December of 2012 that the elder gods decided to pass judgement on Norristown. Many mortals, fearing for their lives, stood at the foot of the mountain, begging to be spared. First came the doctor. He pleaded, "Elder god X'ethilus. Please do not destroy my town. Behold my wife and daughter. They are innocent and beautiful. They do not deserve to die." X'ethilus replied - "Thou has't a family that doth not impress me. Your city will burn." Second came the architect. He pleaded, "Elder god T'emooragh. Please do not destroy my town. Behold the shrines I have built in your dark honor. Behold the human sacrifices that mine own hand has wrought in your name" T'emooragh replied - "Thine sacrifices hath not sated mine bloodlust. Your city will burn." ...but it was the clever baker who approached the mountain, bearing not thoughts of family nor thoughts of shrines. The baker approached the mountain, "Elder god Jenur'nagh, most powerful of the ancients. I beg thee, end my town swiftly! I offer this tomato pie pizza, so that it may provide thee with ample energy and motivation to raze this accursed place to the ground!" The tentacle of Jenur'nagh plunged down from the mountain and swiftly stole the pizza box from the hands of the baker. After several seconds of horrible, inhuman gnashing sounds, the Ender of Souls descended from the mount. Although all who gazed upon his form immediately descended into madness, they heard his words- "Lo! and behold my 9 winged glory! I am now protector of this city and its delicious pizza! Any elder god who doth stand to oppose me must do so now, as this city will not burn as long as I exist in the physical realm! Begone from this mount, humans, and return to your despicable lives! Just know that this day, your bodies were saved by this pie, robust in tomato flavor, unparallelled in pure tomato pie quality, with a buttery, soft, moist crust that is unrivaled in the southeast Pennsylvania area!" ...and although the people on the foot of the mount only spoke in horrible tongues for the rest of their lives, as punishment for hearing and seeing the words of the elders, people knew that their lives were all saved by Corropolese on that cold day in December.

If you're there during the hours of 11-1:30, I strongly recommend trying their meatball sandwich. It is hands down the BEST meatball sandwich ever! As in - NO other meatball sandwich even comes close, not even in the same plane, the same universe, possibly galaxy. The meatballs are so juicy (definitely not for those on a diet, you can see the grease dripping out the those yummy, succulent, artery cloggers), the sauce is absolutely, amazingly perfect, and the bread, oh the bread is far superior to Amoroso's (I know, that's blasphemy, but it's also true). There is literally not a thing that needs to be changed with that sandwich. Unfortunately, it's only available during lunch M-F, and it's on a first come, first serve basis. If Corropolese is out of meatball sandwiches when you're there, it's okay to cry. I understand. However, all is not lost, the sausage and peppers is also delicious, and I heard heir hoagies (italian, turkey, etc.) are also quite good, but I've never actually got around to trying them. My eyes and taste buds usually stop at the meatball sandwich, and then the sausage and peppers as a second choice. Corropolese has also ruined all others' tomato pies forever for me. In fact, there was a race that I use to run that used to serve Corropolese tomato pies after the race but doesn't anymore, and after 2 years of running the race and being disappointed afterwards, I have since boycotted that race until Corropolese tomato pie is brought back, but I digress. Their tomato pie is on the sweet side, which I love, but there allegedly are people who do not. I have never met a person who does not LOVE the tomato pie though. One bite and you're hooked. I once ate an entire pie (the whole pie, not the 1/2 or 1/4) with one other person in one setting. As heavenly as their tomato pie is, they also have other foods that are almost as good. Their pepper pie is quite tasty, and their Stromboli-ish pocket things are incredibly good as well. Finally, this place is also a store, so you can buy your favorite items and take them home with your to enjoy for later. The prices are very reasonable. The have raised their prices in the last couple of years, but I think even with the increases, it's still very reasonable.

This bakery is a value added to the neighborhood. The people, the food ....it's so good it makes me feel like I'm back in Brooklyn.

I apologize, Yelp. I simply apologize for not Yelping about this place despite the fact that I have been eating their tomato pie for years. Fact is, I've never been there. But we seem to get their pie a lot at work due to generous co-workers who bring it in for us. So I'm well versed in their tomato pie. I can't imagine anyone making it better. They have this knack for sweetening the sauce perfectly. I haven't tasted sauce like theirs anywhere in this area. Kudos! Today, someone even brought us one of their spinach pies. Very flavorful, maybe a touch too much garlic, and you wind up picking spinach out of your teeth for 10 minutes. Might not want to eat it before a meeting. But it's another fine choice. However, I'd ignore everything they have for their tomato pie.

Went out of the way to get a tomato pie here after hearing about them. It's a quality pie with a nicely balanced sauce and a great crust. They're a small little market with lots of other baked goods and Italian products.

The best tomato pie in the land. Bread is nothing special but that tomato pie! Yum. Order ahead so they have some for you.

I've never actually physically been to this place but a couple of the girls I work with always bring in Corropolese Tomato Pies for potlucks/birthdays/etc... Both kinds I've tried (Plain Tomato and Sweet Pepper) are REALLY good and I seriously have to restrain myself from eating 4-5 pieces of each!! We have a baby shower coming up next week and somebody is already signed up to bring the Tomato Pie - woo hoo!!! One of these days, I will stop in and check the place out for myself... It's definitely on my bucket list!

This review is redundant but it bears repeating... Corropolese is hands down the best tomato pie around. Plain, With Cheese, With Peppers, With Spinach..it's all good, all the time.

I wouldn't declare Corropolese tomato pies to be the BEST I've ever had in my life, but they're pretty damn good, and certainly the best I've had in recent memory. I've enjoyed a few of theirs in the past year, and they're tomato-y and cold and scrumptious, more sweet than savory. This place makes solid pies, and they're huge enough to feed a Boy Scout troop. If you're in the market for a tomato pie, check them out!

As a lifelong connoisseur of tomato pie, I had been searching for the perfect tomato pie in the Philly area. I had tried tomato pie from many different places, but couldn't find that taste I remember. The sauce is key. Until now, the best I've tasted in the tri-state region was Serpe's Bakery in the Wilmington area (Elsmere). Yesterday, after reading many glowing reviews here on Yelp!, I gave Corrpolese a try. WOW! It was excellent. It was everything a tomato pie should be. The sauce is boss. Tasty, a little sweet, nicely flavored but not overpowered by any one thing, not salty. MMMMMMMM! The sauce has a rich, satisfying taste. Bet you can't eat just one slice, it's addictive. Additionally, I'd just comment that the place seemed very clean and well-managed. * One disappointment was the "Apple Strudel" It was not apple strudel, it was more like coffee cake with an apple-crumb topping. Strudel is layers of flaky pastry. Calling this strudel was misleading. That being said, Corropolese is awesome, and I'll definitely be back.

I will eat no other tomato except from here. Hands down the best tomato pie in the area! The tomato pie has been consistently delicious since I was a child; that was almost thirty years ago! I highly recommend to anyone who planning a party or just simply wants a quality tomato pie at a reasonable price. Ps: Don't take your chances on the weekend by showing up to buy one; make sure to call ahead and preorder!

  • Damian O.

Oh what can I say that hasn't already been said! They make VERY tasty tomato pies and they make it consistently. Another bonus are their prices. Puts other places to shame I tell ya. Oh and don't forget they sell other items too like grocery items, fresh baked breads, cookies, sandwiches from their deli etc. I wish they would open one up near me and I actually said that to the lady working there. But I think she was thinking .. silly rabbit, tricks are for kids. No dice.. no dice.

I'm not sure why I'm bothering writing a review for Corropolese's tomato pie. Everyone knows it is, hands down, the best tomato pie ever. The sauce is sweet and tomatoey with some parmesan cheese sprinkled on top and even the crust is delicious. It's also cheap. I mean $13 for a HUGE tomato pie?! Awesome. It really is the best. I guess the only downside is that everyone loves it too and that means they do sell out of tomato pies occasionally. If you want tomato pie for dinner, I'd order it in the morning. Also, the latest they're open is 7pm on Fridays, so order and get there early if you want tomato pie.

You've probably heard a ka-billion times and now you're gonna hear it a ka-billionth & one time: best freaking tomato pie, EVER. no if's and's or but's. I'm pretty sure I could down a whole sheet of tomato pie by myself and or win a Corropolese tomato pie eating contest if given the chance. It's just something about that bread and the sauce and the sweet goodness of it all. You just can't go wrong with their tomato pie and personally, I think it tastes even better cold! I'm also pretty in love with their pizza rolls and strombolis- when it comes down to it, Corropolese's definitely hits the spot every time, all the time.

The tomato pie is outrageous.. I mean you crave it , fresh rolls, breads, and just about everything else you'd expect at an Italian bakery Prices are really good too

When I think of PA, I think of Corroplese. More specifically, their Italian hoagies. Yes their meatballs are good, and their tomato pie is the best ever, but their italian hoagie is simply the best! The quality cant be beat. The bread is fresh every day and the meats are only the best. They have my favorite cheese here too. I usually hate provolone, but theirs melts in your mouth like baby provolone without being too woody or too soft. Get yours with oil (hoagie dressing. it makes the bread so much better)! Corropolese is a neighborhood staple. Everyone goes here for their breads and lunch meat and before games for tomato pie and hoagies. You can even pick up a chicken for dinner or one of the frozen items like pizza dough or fresh made ravioli's. This place has everything an italian family would need in cluding some basics like butter, eggs, & milk. When I go home, I always stop here for lunch..or dinner...or whenever it is that I get into town. I cant help myself.

  • Joe C.

Consistently good food, low price and the local, homey feel of this place has earned 5 stars from me. I love this place and will be back for lunch on a regular basis. That rotisserie chicken salad on their bread is just phenomenal. Today I got it with provolone and hot pepper spread. Just dynamite. They are known for their tomato pie which is tremendous but this place should get more props as a lunch spot.

There is a reason why there are lines that stretch into the parking lot before any holiday. This place has a great bakery and makes good sandwiches for lunch. And I want to brush my teeth with the sauce on the tomato pies. THE BEST TOMATO PIES. Philly can keep the steaks because Corropolese has this.

    (5)
  • Danan R.

Yeah, I love this place. It was almost 6 pm, and I hadn't yet had lunch so needless to say, I was a bit ravenous. Enter the red tomato pie. It was sweet, savory, and satisfying. Plus, they also had 1 loaf left of the italian wheat, which is only baked on Mondays and has a fantastic, flavorful crust. Fantastic with an herbed olive oil dip.

For once, I am at a loss for words. I just ate tomato pie from Corropolese, and I'm not sure if I'm dreaming or if I'm really sitting here on my sofa, writing this review. All I can remember is the sweetest sauce I've ever had, the best bread in the world, and a taste sensation that almost made me black out. I never had tomato pie like this before (hell, I grew up in the south. I never had tomato pie before a few years ago). I'm feeling a bit lightheaded just recalling how fantastic it was. Somebody pinch me, please!

These ginnys make one heck of a tomato pie! I've eaten tomato pies from all over NJ, NY, and eastern PA. I had Corropolese for the first time a few weeks ago and I've been eating it once a week ever since!

Holy crap, this place has amazing tomato pie!!! It seems to be a common occurrance in the area that no one knows what an authenric tomato pie is (SQUARE pie with just tomato sauce and sprinkled parmesean cheese), but this place nailed it!! The sauce is perfect; a little bit of sweet with a little bit of the good acidity needed in a good tomato sause. Eight slices only cost $3.85!!! Yes, EIGHT! An entire pie of 30 slices runs something like $13 bucks. Insane deal, insane pizza. The best tomato pie I've ever had.

I never heard of this place until I joined Yelp. It is tucked away off a back street in Norristown/Norriton. The tomato pie reviews were too good to be true and I was compelled to investigate. So while you drunken and hung over Yelpers were sleeping off last night's debauchery, I was up early and off to Corropolese. I got two 1/4 sheets of plain tomato pie and a big ring of cinnamon rolls with icing. Yes, it was true. The tomato pie is amazing. The crust is thick and chewy but very light. The sauce was very sweet and addictive, the kind of taste that lingers on your palate and mind all day. The pie had the right amount of oil, which was just enough to blend with the other ingredients and not stand out as oily. It was all topped off with a sprinkling of parmesan. Better than a pizza? Maybe. I am a cheese lover an didn't miss the gooey stuff like I thought it would. Would I buy it again? I will! The cinnamon rolls were very good. The dough itself wasn't first class but was good enough. They were made with the right amount and type of cinnamon, so that the taste wasn't overwhelming, like Cinnabon can be. The icing was sugary, as it should be. Overall, above average. I put them in the microwave for 20 seconds or so. A definite must try, at least once.

I'm not a big tomato pie fan in general, but a Corropolese is pretty dang good. Their hoagies are solid too.

I was first introduced to tomato pie by them at the young and impressionable age of 10, and I must say that I still go back. I hear they serve other things, and they appear to have a deli, but I am a sucker for their tomato pie.

mi prometto - i'm not giving them a 5 star rating out of Siciliano loyality (although my family has been going to these folks since they opened). this place makes the world's best tomato pie, which is a format of pizza you'll only find done properly in SEPA. a small sheet of it will fill you up yet run you under 4 dollars. the sauce has bite & sweetness & the right kind of pasty thickness - crust is tender crispy & chewy all at once. if i was to be allowed one carbohydrate for the rest of my time i well might go for Corropolese. there are other delicious pizza varieties as well - the spinach pie IS worth writing home about. while you're at it, know that this place is a proper bakery & deli. zeps, football rolls, fresh meats & cheeses, olives, italian groceries, cannoli, birch beer, mmmmmm service is REAL, be it from the veterans behind the counter or the cutesy highschool girls that work here. you get one line answers because when it's this damn good you don't need to coddle people. that's one additional thing i enjoy about Pretzelvanians... they keep it real. there's no room for not remembering to bullshit small talk. if you want "customer service" head for the front counter at your local Target.

  • Felicia D.

I thought I knew tomato pie. Pica's was my old-school standard... but.... Corropolese has pretty much re-invented the entire tomato pie genre. Rich, tomatoey, with thick and generous crustiness. So good it practically inspires weeping. I'm driving all the way out to Norristown from North Philly to gets mines.

    (5)
  • Jen L.

I have to say that I'm not so wild about Corropolese's tomato pie. I went on the recommendation of a friend and for me, I think the sauce is too sweet and the crust tastes stale. I haven't tried anything else, but I do like that they have good ol' traditional Italian goodies. If I'm in that area I do make a point to pop in, but I wouldn't go out of my way.

    (3)
  • Maura G.

this place gets 5 stars for the tomato pie alone. best ever. yes, i am now a tomato pie snob, and i will not eat it unless it comes from corropolese. whenever i buy one (and i never buy just one at a time...) it's all i eat for the next few days. they have a good selection of deli meats and cheeses, and the bakery items are fresh and delicious as well. service is always friendly, at least at the bakery counter. it's normally young kids who work there, but some of the workers have been there for years. make sure if you want a full tomato pie that you call ahead and place an order for one a couple days in advance, because they go fast. and make a point to try the pepperoni bread!

  • Brian L.

There's not much to expand on from the previous reviews. This place rocks. Food never disappoints. Great sandwiches (hot or cold), great bread (always fresh!), desserts always appetizing and as my buddy Dan always says, "Corps is the best place on earth."

  • Betsy N.

Always love their food. Bought tomato pie, the large deli tray, sausage, meatballs, sauce and birthday cake for my son's birthday. Everthing was delicious! I thought the deli tray was a great bargain after pricing them out at several stores. Included rolls, bread, macaroni salad, potato salad, and Mr. Ron's coleslaw. Cannot go wrong with Corropolese!

Growing up on Old Arch Road Corropolese was a staple in our diet for any party, event, quick lunch, bbq or tailgate...actually their tomato pie can be found in any Italian household in the Norristown area on any given weekend. I know, I know...you think because I grew up on it I am biased, but I have truly tried many other places. Other manufacters of the tomato pie usually make it too dry or its been sitting there all day. Corropolese makes their tomato pies fresh every morning. In fact, if you want multiple large size pies you need to call a day or two in advance because going that day they are usually sold out or have reservations for the ones made that morning. In conclusion, just try it... Gumba-down-the-street

I don't care what anyone thinks. The tomato pie is as good as it gets, an institution at all parties. I went to High School right there. Don't get back to Norristown too much, but when I do, I stop here all the time to load up on tomato pies, rolls, strombolis, sweet peppers. I love this place.

I always go to Corropolese for my tomato pies when I am home visiting my family in Pennsylvania. I've been eating these pies since I was a kid, and they are just lovely! You can get them plain tomato, oil & spinach, or sweet peppers. Any way you get it, they're good. I hear their meats, cookies, and other bakes goods are fantastic as well. A great little family business!

some time we get a pie at work someone drops one off .i do not like the dough so i lick off all of the sauce it is that good yummy and sweet .i make some at home just pick a jar sauce and heat it up and keep adding sugar a little at a time till you like it .

  • Chris E.

Okay, let me make this really clear. Go here for the sandwiches and the tomato pie. In fact, even if you don't want the pie right then, get it anyway. You will. Probably in 5 minutes. The rest of the offerings are okay. But the tomato pie (as you can read in the other reviews) is fantastic. A little sweet, chewy, a little crispy, some nice garlic bit and so easy to eat. One word of warning: when the pie is gone for day, its gone. So arrive early and get your fix.

  • Cody M.

Tomato pie, tomato pie, tomato pie! I moved away from the Philadelphia suburbs two years ago, and I still have dreams about tomato pie. This place is going to be one of my first stops when I go back to visit. The pepper pie is great too!

  • Denise W.

Eh, I've had better...(ducking and running out of Montco now) Why the low rating? Seems as if the reputation of this place is way larger than the taste of the products! Rolls are good, fresh, good tang to the dough. Breads ok, nothing to write home about, but they'll do. The tomato pie sauce is one of the sweetest sauces I've had and completely overwhelmed the delicate, crunchy crust, which was really a nice touch. A few times the pie was oversauced and hours later, the pie was a soggy mess. If you like sweet, sweet sauce you'll love the pie, but I'd drive down to Manayunk and grab a pie from Marchiano's before having another from here. The customer service is abysmal - the first time we went in on a Saturday, each question was begrudgingly answered with as few words - or syllables as possible. Thereafter, a brusque attitude just turned me off. With so many wonderful establishments around, you can't rest on your supposed rep - you gotta deliver, consistently and with (hopefully) friendly service. After seven times, decided there won't be an eighth visit.

I had never heard of Corropolese until I moved into Bridgeport last year. The first time my boyfriend mentioned getting a tomato pie from here and I noncomittaly shrugged my shoulders and said "Whatever," his head almost exploded. After my first bite, I understood why. You haven't had a tomato pie until you've had one from Corropolese. Now there isn't a sporting event, family party, or poker night that goes by without picking one up. Coming from a girl that doesn't like ANYTHING with red sauce or cooked tomatoes, that's saying a lot!

Corropolese used to be an excellent Italian bakery but within the last year or so the quality of their products has greatly diminished. My family has lived in Norristown all our lives and everyone always went to Corropolese for every party and occasion we had. The tomato pie and the rolls were cooked to perfection and delicious, but sadly, and I really am sad, this is no longer the case. On multiple occasions we would order a tomato pie and a couple of dozen rolls for our roast pork or whatever we were eating for the party and the rolls and pie would be undercooked. At first we thought that maybe it was because it was a holiday and they had too many orders and had to cut back on baking time or something, but not so. We've been back at least 6 more times on normal days of the week and still the rolls and pizza are very light colored, the kaiser rolls are hollow, and overall quality is diminished. I cannot recommend Corropolese anymore. Try Collegeville or Conshy instead.

Respect.

I have to say that I'm not so wild about Corropolese's tomato pie. I went on the recommendation of a friend and for me, I think the sauce is too sweet and the crust tastes stale. I haven't tried anything else, but I do like that they have good ol' traditional Italian goodies. If I'm in that area I do make a point to pop in, but I wouldn't go out of my way.

this place gets 5 stars for the tomato pie alone. best ever. yes, i am now a tomato pie snob, and i will not eat it unless it comes from corropolese. whenever i buy one (and i never buy just one at a time...) it's all i eat for the next few days. they have a good selection of deli meats and cheeses, and the bakery items are fresh and delicious as well. service is always friendly, at least at the bakery counter. it's normally young kids who work there, but some of the workers have been there for years. make sure if you want a full tomato pie that you call ahead and place an order for one a couple days in advance, because they go fast. and make a point to try the pepperoni bread!

  • Steve T.

Tomato Pie - it does not get any better than Corropolese Tomato Pie. Order your pie ahead though to be sure.

I heard about this place on Yelp and my co-worker so decided to look for it and give it a try. The tomato pie was great...!

No dice.. no dice.

One of my favorite places. I love their hot roast beef hoagie wth horseradish and sharp provolone. It is a thing of beauty.
