Went on a rainy afternoon this past Thursday. Had a living social voucher that was expiring soon and have been wanting to try. The place was empty I guess because of the rain, my husband and I was greeted warmly and made to feel welcomed. While waiting for our lunch our server brought some delicious bread and soon after complimentary salads from the chef because our pasta was taking a little longer since its freshly made. The food was so delicious I think we have found a new favorite restaurant.

When first walking up to the Trattoria Tiramisu I was a little put off by the pizzeria looking outside, but as soon as I walked in the feeling dissipated. The ceilings are high and the ambience is there, but does need a little more "mood" lighting for lack of a better phrase. I was pleasantly surprised by the decor inside because based on the look of the outside it would've felt like a pizzeria, but it didn't feel like that at all. We were seated right away and ordered right away. I got the linguini bolognese, but with penne. The food was good and the service was also good. I would definitely come here again, and would definitely recommend to a friend.

Came here for Father's Day dinner. Was absolutely fabulous. We had mozzarella that was stuffed with creamy mozzarella served over greens with a fantastic dressing. It was delicious. I had rack of lamb. It was cooked and seasoned to perfection. It was served with broccoli raab that was cooked perfectly. My wife had a salmon dish that was unbelievable. The service was great and the staff was extremely friendly and attentive. All in all, we had a very good dinner and we will go back again.

Service: marginal BYOB Food: Had the Osso Buco. It wasn't braised enough...the meat wasn't very tender. The accompanied risotto with spinach was very well made. Wanted to try the rapini, but they were out. Space/Decor: tight and cozy, difficult to move around, but nice and quaint.

Newtown is blessed with 4 great Italian BYOB's. Tiramisu stands out as the quietest and most elegant of the 4, certainly the place for an adult "date" or dignified dinner with the boss. If you have a boisterous group of friends, perhaps Osteria Vecchia or Trattoria Piccolo might be better. The dishes here are creative and nicely served. The ingredients seem top-notch and everything was freshly prepared. Good rissoto is surprisingly hard to find but the risotto that accompanied my delicious Osso Bucco was great. We've used this place for an office party (small party area in the back) and for catering and it has always been good. People stand in line for a long-time at the competition. They should try this spot also.

We love this place. Yes it's small but sets the atmopshere. Plus you can't beat BYOB. The food is amazing and wide variety of menu items. The mussels are phenomenal and pasta is all homemade. We can't wait until the next time we go back.

This is a lovely Italian establishment with a bright air that does not take away from any romantic ambiance for which you might be looking. The food is excellent, though the portions are quite large. I'm not complaining, because the prices are reasonable, and I take half my meal home for later! Tiramisu is delicious! That's important to me -- that's how I test an Italian restaurant. The service was quick and polite. I would love to come again!

My new favorite spot for Italian food in Newtown! I'm in love with the charming updated feel of this restaurant. Service was great, we were seated and served promptly. Food was outstanding! I don't eat meat so it was refreshing to see so many options for me here. I do love fish and opted for the special which was a salmon with plums and a sangria reduction sauce...soooo delicious. I got the classic tiramisu with a cappuccino, was just perfect. I don't know if I can look at cappuccinos the same again. We can not wait to return here. Thank you Tiramisu!!!

My 3 friends took me here to celebrate my 40th birthday! I loved the atmosphere at this BYOB! Our waiter was wonderful and very attentive. The menu was not overly complex but had a good amount of choices. Portions were a good size. The whole table enjoyed our meal choices and the house tiramisu with a fresh cappucino finished the evening off perfectly. The owner came over to check on our table and wish me a Happy Birthday . He graciously thanked us for choosing to celebrate there. I enjoyed the ambience, good amount of patrons but not overly crowded and loud. It was a semi upscale casual atmosphere without boasting a frou frou annoying attitude.

Absolutely outstanding food. I live on the road and italian places are a dime a dozen, this stood out and is on the top of my list now...

Congratulations! Bravo! Easy to tell the chef cares. We will be back. Had a great night. Staff could use some polish but the food sang.

Ambience was very pleasant. Service was attentive and cordial. The meal (Ossobuco for me, Bronzino for my wife) was outstanding. Of course Tiramisu is mandatory for dessert (6 varieties) and a cappuccino completed a wonderful experience. Definitely a keeper.

Absolutely FANTASTIC. I was a little reluctant by the outside and signage as it gives off a pizza place vibe but it is truly incredible fine dining. Lamb meatballs and mussels to start in a fantastic red sauce. Ceasar salad was just OK- I would stick to getting another app instead next time as both apps were incredible. My entree was a salmon special with carmelized onions and plums and it was unrea. Truly one of the best fish dishes I have ever had, perfect combo of flavors. Other people I was dining with got Lobster Ravoli (which I tried and was to die for, amazing sauce truly addicting and the other got a bronzino fish, fileted (spelling) table side stored with salt, truly a fantastic meal. Dessert: Tiramisu DUH (the traditional) Great BYOB, just what newtown/state street needs, can not wait to go back. A+

The worst service I've ever had! Went for valentines day and there wasn't even a manager or owner there to talk to about service. They didn't have a hostess then once we got seated we had to wait 15 mins for someone to approach us. The waitress treated us like we were in a diner. All she said was ready to order. We decided not to get dessert because people around us waited over half hour to get theirs. Food was not worth the wait or price. They couldn't even accommodate my food allergy! I will definitely not going back!!!! Vecchia Osteria is 1000 times better all around!

I will be dining again tonight, and I must say all I have been thinking about is the salmon since the last time I had it...it was delightful...I never eat everything on my plate but this time I did and then top it off with the limoncello cake and a cappuccino...Yummy!!!

Was in the area for business and saw this little Italian restaurant while driving through. The village was an old establishment, looked like from late 1700s to 1800s and kept up very nice. The restaurant was immediately welcoming for lunch and extremely attentive and friendly service. Great menu options and they will accommodate Vegetarians which is always nice as well. I had a Vegetarian "Philly" which was the best. I also sampled some macaroni and gravy which was quite tasty as well. Definately would like to visit again should I be in the area.

Excellent service and one of the best lasagnas I've had. The decor and ambience is classy, tasteful & very clean. Nice classic Italian music softly playing in the background. The prices were very reasonable. I recommend finishing your meal with one of their cappuccinos. Perfectly made!

We were happy to travel from Chalfont to Newtown for dinner at Trattoria Tiramisu. We were longtime fans of their previous restaurant, Tutto Mario, and have been missing it! We brought friends who loved it and vowed to return as well. Calamari is the best I have ever had (growing up in Italian Brooklyn, this says alot!). Shrimp scampi was its usual creamy, flavorful perfection. Our friends had the bass special and carbonara. Raves all around. Portion sizes were more reasonable (come on people, no one needs to order dinner and be fed for two days afterwards on leftovers). Decor was lovely and staff was friendly and attentive (Mare and Rebecca, great to see you again-Good Luck!). If you fail to see the gem this restaurant is, you are missing out on great Italian food! Can't believe I forgot to mention the lobster bisque. Heaven in a spoon!

I had a fabulous dinner here last night. It is a true authentic Italian restaurant. Reminded me of the food my Mother made when I was a child. Food is excellent and the service and attention are even better. Facilities were very clean. I am definitely going back.

The wait staff are nice but not sure if they know how to handle special requests like allergies. Also my friend and I both got same dish and we both had GI issues afterwards. Sorry to say we will not be back

Great food salad was just ok but everything else was perfect, Classic Tiramisu a must, probably the top Italian restaurant in the area, i would give them the edge over Veccia Osteria.

The service was good and the chef/owner came out and talked to us and was very personable and friendly and gave great recommendations. I got the Portofino Chicken and it was amazing. The chicken was tender and the sauce was delicious. My mom got the Lobster Ravioli, which was also amazing! We had the Calamari appetizer which was delicious. Dessert was amazing. They had four different varieties of Tiramisu. The two varieties that we tried were both fantastic. We plan on going back and it was definitely the best Italian food we have had in a long time!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
