Amber Indian Restaurant Menu

Diabetics at Jamba Juice:

Eating good food at the right time can control your blood sugar, also stop you from craving wrong sort of food. Jamba Juice offers drinks in three separate sizes: 16, 24, and 32-ounce. You can choose the lowest serving size and cut down on sugars and calorie intake. If you're diabetic and concerned about the sugar intake, then you can opt for the smaller 9.5-ounce smoothies available for kids at Jamba Juice.

Foods to Avoid at Jamba Juice for Diabetics:

Jamba Juice is primarily known for its highly satisfying and nutritive smoothies and juices. Almost every smoothie and juice item on the Jamba Juice menu contains sugar. Diabetics are recommended to opt for smaller serving size while ordering at Jamba Juice. Also, avoid opting for creamy treats as all the smoothies offered in this category contain a load of sugars.

Keep the sugar content below 50g per meal at Jamba Juice and ensure that you don't follow it with a heavy meal. A small size regular smoothie is equivalent to a meal for everyone. Classic smoothies at Jamba Juice are also heavily loaded with sugars. Stay away from that section if you are a diabetic.

My coworker and I were driving into Moosic and definitely did not want dinner at the local Ruby Tuesday or Johnny Rockets. I quickly started searching on Yelp for a local spot and stumbled upon New Amber Indian Restaurant. Now, I do have to caution that the outside of New Amber is positively scary looking. The inside was less scary but more gaudy with a large fountain and glitzy bar. We had a really enjoyable dinner here though! Service was quick and efficient. We started with glasses of wine - a Chardonnay, I believe. Since a lot of my favorite Indian restaurants in the Pittsburgh area don't serve alcohol, I was excited to be able to order drinks here. I ordered my standby, the Chicken Tikka Masala with a side of Naan. It was very tasty, though the Tikka Masala's creme sauce was a bit thinner than I like. My coworker ordered this incredibly delicious vegetarian entree that was recommended by the waitress. I have tried and tried to remember the name of this dish, but it has slipped my mind. I recommend this Indian restaurant and hope to come back when I'm in town again for work. I'll also update this review with that amazing vegetarian dish if I ever remember the name!

Absolutely amazing! I haven't had indian food since visiting England 2 years ago. I live 5 mins from here and will be a frequent customer :)

Amazing Indian food! Whether I'm getting their lunch buffet or ordering from the menu I know I'm in for some great eats. Try the chicken pakora it's like Indian chicken fingers and will literally make your life better...until they're gone. The staff is very nice and attentive. They are also very helpful with the menu if it's your first time or if you want to try something new. Additionally, this is the only Indian restaurant I've been to that has rose ice cream. It is my most favorite thing in the world. So creamy, flavorful, light and floral. I can't get enough. When I try to explain it to friends words just don't do it justice. I have to take them to get it and then they finally see the light!

My boyfriend and I came here accidentally, thinking that the location was another recommended to us. We decided to give it a try anyways. There were two or three other tables and the atmosphere was pleasant. The waitress was knowledgable and very sweet. She recommended a fried potato pancake appetizer with chick peas that I fell in love with. My boyfriend ordered the lamb with naan and ate it until he grew a food baby. We can't wait to go back once we're both in Scranton again.

I had ordered take out, arrived and realized that the ambience here was way better than my hotel room. Not that it's super fancy, but it is cozy and I assume way better than the dive joints I drove by on my way here. They were happy to plate my take out food and let me grab a seat. Paneer Tikka Masala was really good.

Kind of tastes like instant Indian food from wegmans. The service is good and the staff is nice, but the food is completely gentrified to suit white-NEPA's taste.

love this place and so does my sister have flovorful food and a great menu made fresh

Food was ok. I had the lunch buffet. Not a lot of selection variety. Everything was chicken. My hubby likes lamb. The waiter looked at him like he was crazy because he didn't want the buffet. Then the other sever came over and asked again if my hubby wanted the buffet because it had chicken vindaloo. We asked for our check and then waited another 15 minutes and still had to go to the register because we didn't have it!

We ordered the vegetable samosa, assorted tandoori platter (which is supposed to be chicken and shrimp), garlic naan, Alu Gohbi, Lamb Vindaloo and the rice pudding (which is supposed to have pistachios on it). We've been to this restaurant numerous times and it seems to be going down hill fast. First, I had a restaurant.com certificate. No where on the certificate does it state that it is for dine in only. I went to pick up our take out order and they would not accept it. The cashier stated that it doesn't say dine in only on the certificate, but that is the way it is. Ummm.. ok. I always tip when I get take out and this time I did not. The tandoori platter had only one shrimp in the entire container! Some of the spices used were huge and left an awful taste in your mouth if you were to bite down on it unknowingly. I always order my naan without butter and it came with it. The rice pudding did not contain one pistachio. So overall, we were disappointed with the entire experience and will probably not go back.

Excellent, friendly service, delicious food. I'm not a fruity drink person, but the Amber punch packs one! I also really love the samosas and the Dal Makhani. The Chicken Vindaloo is pretty good, but even though I asked for it spicy, it was pretty mild. If this place were not so far from my home, I'd venture here more often - but it's a hike.

Indian buffet! And not everything was all mushy foods (is that bad to say?) But seriously, the food was delicious and it wasn't all just soupy dishes. There was goat and okra that added some substance and variation, several chicken dishes with varying ranges of spicy kicks, and lots of naan to soak up the juice. I tried everything including all of the sauces. Not once did I get sick of the taste or feel like my stomach was about to erupt. Solid Indian place in the area. Also - complimentary glasses of champagne. Can't beat that.

Very clean taste. Could taste each herb and spice. Friendly service. Not the best wine list. Linen table cloth and napkins.

Easily the best food I've had since moving to PA. I had chicken Tikka Masala which as you'll read is a favorite. So creamy and delicious and you can choose your spice level which is pretty cool. I encourage you to try the Indian bread sampler. It's to die for and is perfect for dipping in the extra sauce.

  • Dare A.

Not sure how this place has been given 4 or 5 stars - the food is mediocre at best. Had their Chicken Biryani, Chicken Korma, and Garlic Naan. All were not as good as I'm used to. The Korma actually didn't taste like Korma and the Naan was on the thin side - I'm used to fuller fluffier Naan. Might try again based on other reviews.

Amber Offers a Satisfying meal and good service at a reasonable price. It is the only Indian cuisine in town however I've heard it's better than others outside the area. Comfortable atmosphere too. Some my favs include onion baji, tikka masala, palakpaneer, navratan korma and chai tea.

  • Matt N.

I've eaten at the Amber a few times, and am perfectly satisfied with it. It is, as others have posted, the only game in town for Indian food and fills the roll fine. (btw, there are Indian joints 30 minutes away in the Poconos which DON'T stack up well against the Amber) I've been to a few Indian restaurants and is this the most 'Indian' restaurant in PA? No. Does it matter? NO! The food is well prepared, the restaurant is clean, the staff is pleasant, and I LOVE to introduce friends to Indian food by taking them to the buffet so they can sort of ease themselves into a new cuisine, and am currently 3 for 3 in 'converting' people. If you want a pleasant dining experience at reasonable prices, try the Amber.

Came for their lunch buffet on the weekend. I've been here many times. If you like Indian food, this is the ONLY place to go in our area. The buffet gives an opportunity to taste and sample many dishes without actually having to figure out the menu!! They've changed some of the recipes it seems and some are increasingly spicy. Wonderful nonetheless. Consider you have a lovely meal, with nice tablecloths and good service at an affordable price, it doesn't get better than this!!!

Amazing Indian food and a super cheap ($10.00 per person) lunch buffet. The food is delicious and very fresh. Nothing was overly spicy but it was all yummy. I can't wait till I can go back

Truth be told, I've been going to Amber for years- and I have yet to turn down an invite to this place. If a new acquaintance or possible romantic interest says to you, "How about Amber" I would argue that they have passed the "good character" challenge. My foodie co-pilot friend Jean wasn't sure it would be her cup of tea- she is, after all, what i lovingly refer to as a purist- she likes fresh flavors and spicy isn't her thing and to be honest, I was nervous too. Never fear though Scranton- Amber didn't disappoint- in fact, I even heard the word "phenomenal" used! Jean ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala after our server told her it was "the best thing on the menu" (lucky!), and apparently feeling somewhat subconsciously spiteful, I requested something spicy from the vegetarian dishes, and was directed to Navrattan Korma. Additionally we ordered some Naan (leavened, smoky bread) and a side of Raita (very similiar to tatziki- this is yogurt with shredded cucumber served chilled). The Chicken Tikka Masala is a boneless chicken broiled in a tandoor (a clay oven that reaches temperatures of 900°F, heated by charcoal or wood fire, the Naan is also cooked here). The color is a vibrant orange-red, which traditionally is achieved through spices such as Cayenne, red chili powder, or Tumeric, which produces the vibrant hue (tofu scramble anyone?). The menu at Amber simply lists green spices and tomato with a light cream sauce. This dish was not spicy- it was sweet with a taste of garlic and oh yes, cream. It was quite delicious, and as a bonus paired nicely with the basmati rice and the cool yogurt sauce. I don't doubt that it's one of the best dishes on the menu. Now on the other hand, the Navratan Korma had some major heat. "Navratan" translated means: Nine Gems- so it featured nine garden vegetables cooked in spices (best guess: ground pepper, tumeric, cumin) with, you guessed it, a tomato cream sauce. What I love about spicy Indian food, is what I said before- it's hot- but with purpose. The heat is about extracting all the flavors and they really did this well. Jean was a trooper, trying the dish, and even finishing the whole bite (thadda girl!). Mega tasty. Amber never lets me down... well, except when they leave the Palak Paneer out of the lunch buffet... But, really, I've never had a bad meal there. They're good people, it's good food. Simple enough- so, you know what I'm going to tell you now-if you haven't already, get there! And if you have, now's a good time to get reacquainted! My favorite time of day is to get up and eat leftovers from dinner, especially spicy food- David Byrne.

We have a favorite Indian restaurant in Pittsburgh called India Garden. Since moving to north east pa, it's one of the restaurants we miss most. Although not as good (why I'm giving it 4 stars), Amber is the best Indian food in town. We went for lunch and got the buffet. It's a nice way to introduce people who never had Indian food before. They had about 8 different entrees and soft serve ice cream for dessert. The mango is very good. It's the best in town and would recommend it to all who like Indian food.

Over the years, I have been to this place a dozen or so times. That too, because its the only indian restaurant in town. Being indian, we usually went there for random celebrations. But, I gotta say, if there were other options, I would definitely not recommend this place. Last few times, I went there (during 2010), I got sick for few days. And, being indian, having been to countless number of indian restaurants, that speaks volume. a previous reviewer mentioned tandoor palace in tannersvile. If you don't mind the drive and also want to kill two birds with one stone by going shopping at the crossings, I would recommend that over this - if you are craving indian food. Over the years, we found the wait staff to be just as unfriendly as always. There has been no improvement in this department. The food quality has declined if at all changed over the years as well. During its early days, I took a lot of my non-indian friends and colleagues to this restaurant to introduce them to indian food. But, these days, I go out of my way to tell those in my inner circle to avoid this place. If you are looking for a great indian food experience, just spend some extra effort to drive to Philly or Edison/Jersey City in NJ.

WOW! Amazing - go at lunch time. Great value and delicious!! I dare say... might be the best food in Scranton! Vegetarian friendly, but hard for vegans...

It's true that this is the only Indian restaurant in the area but it's definitely a tasty experience. My wife and I always go for the lunch buffet which is well worth the price. Usually about 7-8 entree choices with desserts and ice cream. Friendly service and quiet atmosphere. This is the place to take people who've never had Indian before

Our family really enjoyed the buffet. The food was fresh and the restaurant seemed to be popular with locals. We were passing through PA and had some very hungry children with us who usually wouldn't like indian food. But there were plenty of options for them as well as for me and I'm a vegetarian. The kids enjoyed the self-serve soft ice cream.

As the only Indian restaurant (that I know of) in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area, I was not one bit let down from the quality and taste of the food at this restaurant. I took my family there and they had never had Indian before. They were first reluctant and confused about the menu, but with a little guidance from our waiter, they ordered what they were in the mood for and not one of us was let down. Quite the contrary actually. I've had a lot of Indian food all over the country, and while I've had some Indian that was a bit more authentic than this restaurant, I would definitely not say this place was bland or dry as stated below (I only ordered off the menu though, so I cannot vouch for the buffet). The chicken was absolutely not below average quality as stated below. I am an EXTREMELY picky eater when it comes to meat, it can't have veins, fat or anything else on the meat that ISN'T meat, or I won't eat it at all. But I ordered the chicken tikka masala anyway and I was absolutely pleased at how lean and clean the chicken was. My family loved the garlic naan bread also... along with each of the entrees that they ordered. Like I said, this was my family's first time eating Indian and they loved it. Keep in mind that my family is only Italian and have grown up on traditional Italian food. I'd say mission accomplished! For being the only Indian restaurant in this area, I'd say this is definitely a restaurant to check out.

As far as I know, Amber is the only Indian restaurant in the Scranton area. You can order from the menu or go with the buffet. The buffet should be avoided unless you enjoy really bland Indian food (which to me is not only a sin, but an oxymoron). Order from the menu; you'll pay more, but the food won't taste like yesterday's dishwater. Also, stick with vegetarian food here, because the chicken is below average quality.

This is some great Indian food. We ordered take out and were very happy with our order. We ordered and extra hot chicken vindaloo and a mild chicken tikka masalla plus some plain and garlic naan. The vindaloo was terrific, not too spicy and very flavorful. The chicken tikka was a little lacking in flavor, but I think it should have been spicier. The naan bread was terrific as well, although the garlic naan did not have a strong flavor. The infused rice was delicious as well. When I picked up the order, I looked around the restaurant. They have a decent bar and very nice dinning area.

Eaten here many times. I have brought several people who have loved it and now eat here often too. It's just as good as any of the other ethnic restaurants around and the service is great.

Great place if you have a large appetite and don't want to burn a hole in your pocket. Food was great especially since it was only 10 bucks for all you can eat lunch special!!!

  • Tom H.

Pros: good variety for lunch, food was very flavorful, buffet style for lunch so it could be quick bite if your in a rush. Cons: buffet area very cramped. I feel like I am trying to smell if they put on deodorant or not. Water cups are very small so they come by a lot if you drink a lot of fluids. I would definitely go back also side note kind of spicy so if your not into spicy I don't think I would recommend it

Delicious appetizers. My hubby had the vegetable samosas and I had the aloo tikki. Both were delicious. I absolutely loved the sauce with my appetizer with chickpeas and a delicious spicy sauce with Indian spices. It was amazing!!! For the entree my husband had chicken badami and I had chicken makhani. We shared an order of garlic naan which is always delicious. The medium spice level wasn't very hot at all but it was delicious none the less. My appetizer was pretty hot...slightly spicier than medium Pace salsa. Dessert was delicious as well. I had a scoop of rose water ice cream and it was amazing. My husband had a scoop of pistachio ice cream and it was also awesome. There was a listing on the menu for saffron ice cream and my husband had asked for that and I think the waiter misunderstood him and said pistachio. It was amazing enough that it didn't matter. The wait staff was very attentive and always kept our water glasses full. The total for dinner was $49.13 which I felt was reasonable for the quantity and quality of the food.

A hidden gem in north eastern Pennsylvania. The atmosphere and food was very good. It felt like i was eating home made food. The service too was fast and good. I ordered all vegetarian since i am vegetarian so I can only speak about the veg dishes. The unique thing was Amber had some different dishes that other indian restaurants don't carry. Overall it was very good. I enjoyed my experience and food at amber.

Incredible food and value. Wish they were in Philly area. Great service. I was checked on 4x. As a solo woman diner i am lucky to ever get checked on once in Philly. I applaud their attention to detail. MUST TRIES: Chicken soup. Lamb mugali(sic) The wine list was very nice ---Cooperidge selections I enjoyed the white merlot.

Very pleased with this restaurant. The waitress was very funny, helpful, and kind. Service is swift and frequent. Food was delicious and definitely worth trying! I will definitely be returning.

Ordered Paneer Tikka Masala and Chilly kofta. It was the most disgusting Indian food I have ever had. Chilly kofta were extremely tangy, and paneer tikka masala had water based gravy with zero taste...Not going back to this place ever again.

Amazing buffet and you can take it out! I visited Scranton and was looking for something amazing to eat. I highly recommend going here. They even asked me if I was vegan - to see how to cook my naan!

I almost didn't choose to eat here because I try to find Yelp 4 star places when I'm traveling and want to try a new place. So, I was thoroughly and pleasantly surprised by our dining experience. we had Lamb kabob masala and Bindhi masala (okra dish), with the mixed vegetarian appetizer (which included a nice selection of fried things, including a vegetable samosa), garlic naan and masala chai. The appetizers were tasty, though a little less oily would have suited my tastes better. (however, the samosa was exceptionally good) the entrees were fantastic. I am quite a fan of Indian cuisine, so I've eaten at many places and these were as good as many of the best I've had. The lamb was a bit sweet, spicy, and sour all in the right proportions. The okra dish was caramelized and flavorful, quite delicious. the rice was seasoned with ghee, cumin seeds and peas - perfect. the naan was excellent, really good. Chewy and soft with a good representation of garlic on top. The masala Chai was hot, unsweetened and a bit spicy (also perfect). If I didn't live 2 hours away this would be my new go-to Indian place.

Always a great experience. Service is always on point. Our server knows our order by heart, and we are always greeted warmly. The navratan korma is delicious. Vegetarian thali is also a hit. Best Indian in the valley, hands down. Great spot for carnivores and herbivores alike.

Again exceptional service and absolutely delicious lamb vindaloo, the most tender lamb I've had in a very long time. The mango lassi was the perfect compliment to control the spice of the vindaloo. Thank you again for a fantastic meal

I came here with my brother and mom for Mother's Day this year and we had a great time! This was my mom's first time trying Indian food and she really enjoyed herself and all of the food. The service was fine and we had no problems during our meal. We opted for the buffet since we wanted her to try as many dishes as possible (and she got a free glass of champagne since it was Mother's Day). The food was all very good and well-prepared. My only complaint was that the naan was kept in a buffet serving dish and keeping that closed keeps in the moisture and makes the naan soggy, which definitely stinks. It still had a good flavor, but lacked that nice crispness that I love. I tried an Indian beer, which was pretty good and the mango lassi was very, very good as well. This is a very nice place and it was a nice find in the Scranton area. I would stop in again someday and my mom would too!

One of the best Indian meals I've ever had! The food is delicious and perfectly spiced with a depth of flavor that brings it to a whole new level.

I stopped in for lunch ... It was set up as a buffet, a nice option to try a variety of items ... The food was flavorful and they had about four main meal options , as well as; salad (including relishes and dressings) some appetizers , naan , and desert. I was told that they vary the items on the buffet every couple of days if you wanted to come back and try other foods.

After a long (eight year) hiatus from Indian food, my taste for curry has been rekindled as of late. It jumpstarted with the Wegmans Indian food bar followed by Tandoor Palace in Tannersville, which left me with very mixed feelings. With the help of a certificate from a certain restaurant website, I decided it was high time to revisit Amber. We started off with "Thums Up," an Indian cola that was quite refreshing, and a tasty tandoori appetizer sampler. Wanting to try a little bit of everything, the non-vegetarian combination dinner made my choice of entrée easy. It consisted of five or six small dishes and overall was a bit larger than the size of two normal sized entrées. I do not remember the specific names of the dishes that were included, but all were good, and two were exceptional. My dining companion ordered "Chicken Madras" but was presented with "Chana Masala" by accident, I imagine they look identical when written down quickly. When this was pointed out, the ordered dish was brought out with blazing speed and the first dish was free of charge. This may seem like common sense to most, but just browsing this website will demonstrate that resolving a service issue isn't always this simple. We sampled two types of naan - traditional garlic (good, but needed more garlic) and another with cherries, raisins and almonds, a fascinating flavor combination that was almost strangely reminiscent of... well, pizza. I also had rose (hard) ice cream, which was very dense with a subtle flavor. I prefer the rose soft-serve that I tried in the past. Service was friendly, attentive and efficient, and the entire restaurant was completely spotless. I'm more than happy to have rediscovered Amber. They also have much to offer those of the vegetarian persuasion.

Though this is american style indian food, not very spicy, I like it. Order the menu is better than the buffet! The rice-byani is my favorite. A good place for Vegeterian.

Great selection on lunch buffet and dinner menu. Naan is freshly made and delicious. The service is satisfactory and at dinner its a true Indian dinning experience. Try the Limca soda ! Rose ice cream is amazing

Great to know there's a quality Indian buffet in the Wyoming Valley area! Plus the Tandoori Chicken ISN'T dried out like at 90% of the places I've been. As my girlfriend's 7-year-old daughter says, "succulent!" If she can find something to enjoy here, then anyone can! A bright, casual atmosphere with a wine & cocktails list that invites me back for happy hour. My GF's only suggestion is to not only list the names of the dishes, but some of the ingredients and preparation. Yeah, I've never seen THAT before, but Amber's could take that idea and be a trend-setter! We'll definitely be back.

I have eaten Indian food in NYC, Philly, even turkey, and haven't found a paneer this good. The paneer machine (unsure of the spelling here) is out of this world. I get mine mild and my fiance' gets his spicy. They are always willing to prepare it exactly how you ask. The cheese is to die for, and the sauce gives me chills just thinking about the complexity of flavors (theres defiantly fenugreek, cashews, and tons of other spices just fighting for your taste buds attention)! I have never been left down by any of their starters, and I think the drink selection while not vast is also not over priced. Every time I come back to visit family in wilkes-barre (from philly) I MUST eat here. The service is really relaxed and friendly. I hate to sit in a restaurant and feel like the server is waiting to pounce on me, i like being able to take my time with ordering, and eating, and even sitting and talking. This is the case at the Amber, wait staff is friendly but not pushy. This is a nice date spot, because sharing dishes is so easy and fun. if you find yourself in NEPA, give the Amber a shot, you won't regret it.

I went there with my colleagues a few nights ago. None of us liked the food, I got the Malai Kofta, medium spicy. Thats not how i received it, it was sweet like if I was eating a sweet. My colleagues didn't like their food either.

Made a reservation for Valentine's Day, but probably didn't need it since the place was half empty. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. The food came out fast, but was underwhelming. The chicken pakoras seemed pre-made and a bit flat and the butter chicken was bland and rather small portion-wise. The mango lassi was good. Having no other Indian places around, Amber gets a recommendation by default.

Don't let the outside of the building fool you. The food is very good. It comes out fast and they have a HUGE menu. Waiters and waitresses are polite and constantly making sure your drink is full.

A great place for those who want American bastardized Indian food. I have eaten at many Indian restaurants across the country (even in the Czech Republic) and would have to say this is number 2 on the worst Indian food list for me. The first is in Harrisburg. I thought that bland, dry Indian food was not possible until I went to the Amber, but yes, it is true! They are probably fortunate because they have the market covered as the only one in the Scranton area. If there were others of at least average quality, I am not sure how long they would be in business.

The only game in town, other than my lame home-cooked curried lentils. Luckily they do a good job. The lunch buffet is a good deal. (Has never tasted anything like dishwater to me, as other review stated.) But, a la carte as usual *is* better prepared. Food is tasty and not too heavy. The buffet includes rose and/or mango soft ice cream for dessert, a nice plus. The staff is friendly and has always corrected any mistakes without question.

If you don't know what Indian is supposed to taste like, this place is for you. The dishes were bland and the portions small. What taste the food did have was all heat. Indian is spicy, not hot, and even though we waited for a good length of time, it was clear to me that they must have had a big vat of our respective entree sauces ( which they mixed up) bubbling away. The experience was pretty gross. Do yourself a favor if you like Indian, by cooking it yourself. There are a multitude of great cookbooks out there. Grab a few. Go to the A-1 Subzhi Mandi (sp) grocery store behind the Dunkin donuts across from the Kmart in wilkes barre. They have everything you need. For the exotic meats, try the George Street Deli in Parsons. Or just stick with vegetarian. Most Indian is vegetarian and that is why diners think they are getting such a good deal at this restaurant. Cooking Indian from scratch does require a good chunk of time but is worth every minute. Please do not form an opinion about what Indian is supposed to be like from dining here, and better yet please just skip this place. Bland, prepackaged, bleh.

I've been eating at Amber for years and have never been disappointed (except for the time when the buffet's mango/rose ice cream machine was broken!). Amber is not the only Indian restaurant in the valley, but it is the only one that has stayed in business. Order everything "Indian Spicy" if you're there for dinner, but I recommend the buffet! One of the best places in the area for vegetarians.
