Favorite Chinese in Pennsylvania. Don't go here thinking you are going to get a $7 dinner entree. This is a sit down restaurant with quality food. They have great lunch specials Monday to Friday from 11 to 3 pm. Favorites: salt and pepper calamari and orange flavored tofu! They also have great Thai food.

Fabulous food, great service and nice people. Can't go wrong. Some of the best Asian I have had.

From the outside it doesn't look like much tucked on the far side of the strip mall by the nearby big-box store, but don't let that fool you. Once inside you'll find a spacious and modern Asian restaurant, very neat and clean and polite waiters (for a change!) Service is very good and attentive, and there seemed to be a variety of Asian dishes to choose and was not limited to strictly Chinese cuisine. I had the Ma-Pa Tofu, a hearty stir fry of soft tofu, chili paste, and mixed vegetables served with a side of rice. Tasty and perfect to warm you up on a rainy day.

Kay and I came here for lunch before she reluctantly took me back home. Hey, it hadn't been reviewed yet. I get Chinese takeout so much that I often forget how artful Chinese food can be when plated. Such was the case with my Scallops In Garlic Sauce. My girlfriend's eggroll alone was a beauty to behold, on a rectangular plate yet! Those scallops were quiveringly tender, not to mention flavorsome. The dish included broccoli, something I don't usually get excited about. Give it to me slathered in that garlic sauce, and I might partake more often. My date's shrimp (I forget exactly what she got) was equally plump and delicate...like she is. One thing is certain; the Chinese do seafood up right, better than most of the seafood restaurants 'round here I might add, and our lunch helped reinforce that for me. Your entree comes with soup and rice. I hadn't had Egg Drop soup in a while and upon first sip was reminded of why I always loved this broth of rags. What? That's what the eggs looks like to me. Rags. And I love that. My fried rice was a little tasteless until I added some soy, but it was no huge deal-breaker. The service was exemplary in every regard also. Taiwan 101 is a very swanky yet casual Asian restaurant that's hidden in one of many shopping centers out in that general area. Don't be deterred by all the Taco Bells and McDonalds you'll see. If it were located in Shadyside, it would have been Yelped 60 ways from Wednesday by now.

My folks and I decided to try out this Taiwan 101 the other night, and am I ever glad we did. I like your average everyday Chinese buffet food, but this greatly surpassed any other Chinese I've ever had. The three of us decided to get 3 different items and split them. Boy am I glad we did, because everything was good. I ordered the pork lo-mein, which had a lot of flavor, and a good bit of meat, my dad had General Tso's chicken. I have to say that this dish was the biggest surprise of the night. I normally love General Tso's, but this went way over and above any I had ever eaten before! The flavor was amazing, and I will definitely be getting that again. The best dish of the night was the duck. I rarely eat duck because normally, you have to order it in advance, or if you can order it right then, it is over cooked and tough. We were able to order this with all of our other meals, and while it added some time to when our food came out, it was worth it. NOW I know why people rave about duck! Good stuff! The inside was also kept to a standard that befit the higher prices, and the staff was helpful in deciding what we wanted and were very cheerful. Great place and I will be coming back!

Good selection of well made Asian food - less Anglo-Chinese options which is nice to see this far away from the city!

One of my favorite local spots to take-out or dine in. Fast friendly service. Food is fresh and servings are plentiful. The Pad Thai is excellent! We also love the steamed dumplings and green beans!!

Very nice surprise. Not expecting good Chinese in Western PA. Food and service were very good. Restaurant was clean and servings were generous. Don't understand the negative reviews. If you are in the area and craving Chinese this is definitely a try.

Love this place! My wife and I go here a lot for our 'date nights'. We almost always get the Sesame Shrimp. It is just the right mixture of sweet and spicy. The atmosphere is cozy and quiet. Just a very comfortable place to eat at with excellent food.

Taiwan 101 is a favorite of ours. I've had a good portion of the menu, with favorites being the Amazing Chicken, Pad Thai, and Hot and Sour soup. I recently learned from our waiter that the Amazing Chicken can be ordered with vegetables, which in my opinion makes it ever better! I've never had anything poor here. Service is always good and the prices are reasonable. The lunch menu is a real bargain, with entree with rice and soup or eggroll for under 10 bucks.

I've been visiting Taiwan 101 since shortly after their grand opening. It's never hard to make the decision to go here, because in all my travels to this easily missed gem I've never once been disappointed. However, it was a little harder to coax my Polish Princess into this restaurant. Fortunately after a couple months of determination on my part, she finally broke down and made the drive out with me. I knew this dinner would be among the best I had had here; victory always makes food better. The service at Taiwan 101 is always good (except for one time a waiter refused to get me a drink because they were closing in a little over ten minutes) and they are helpful with the menu if you're uncertain as to what exactly you want to eat - which I'm normally guilty of. I'm typically a creature of habit, finding something I like at a restaurant and sticking with it with it, but I've somehow managed to never order the same food twice here and never regretted it. Their menu has some Thai and Japanese, but it is mostly Chinese. On this visit, I got the capital chicken with come of their egg drop soup to keep me busy while I waited. Their egg drop soup is great and is on another level from other restaurants in the area. Sorry, House of Chen. The capital chicken was probably the best meal I've ordered here. A close contender would be their treasure rice wraps. Their most popular dish is the amazing chicken. While it is indeed amazing, I'd only recommend it if you're looking for a sweet dinner.

2 words...Pad Thai...best I've had anywhere. Everything else on the menu is excellent as well. By far the best Asian cuisine in beaver county. Anyone whom disagrees is just plain wrong.

Delicious lunch as always. Hot and spur soup hot temperature and spice. Amazing chicken is good, but plain with vegetables. Spring for the vegies, extra buck. Portions good for the price. Vegetables crisp, not overdone like many places. Service very polite. It's nice to come here and relax.

Composite: A few visits during my lunch hour break from teaching. Overall experience has been fine. Costs are reasonable. Portions huge. Service good. Odd to see a review talking about a Taiwanese place as a Thai place.... ! I am partial to simple dishes -- soups and noodles as the latter demonstrate if the chef get's it. My experience with the simple noodle/rice combination was more than passable. We will be back. f8 and be there.

I absolutely love this place. I am a big fan of Chinese food and eat it all over the region, and this is one of the very best. The amazing chicken is... Amazing. Best I've ever had and I've had it a lot. The steamed dumplings are great as well. If you're in the mood for Chinese this is a great place.

We returned after a 2 month hiatus. What we found was an extreme improvement of taste, presentation and portions. The service here has always been impeccable. Did the addition of Shogun at the mall make them up their game? I don't know, but I was extremely pleased. Welcome back to number one non-sushi Asian cuisine in Beaver county.

Just to be clear right off the bat, this is by no means a Thai restaurant, but rather a (Americanized) Chinese restaurant with 3 Thai-inspired dishes. If you're looking for red, green, yellow, or massaman curry, they don't have it. Nor do they have Thai-style spring roles or any number of standard Thai-restaurant menu items. This is in every way, shape, and form a Chinese restaurant. That being said, I've tried all three of their actual Thai dishes. As a whole, I found them to be underwhelming, and the spice level disappointing. I like my Thai food to be a spice level that most people would find unbearable or unpleasant, and asking for my dishes to be made extra spicy meant barely even breaking a sweat. The Kiew Wan had a really good, sweet taste to it but far too much eggplant, which turned it into a kind of mush that led me to pick out the eggplant, wasting a good half the plate. The Panang curry also had a great taste (though not the best by any means) but was fairly watery, so it didn't stick to the veggies very well. Both of these dishes were made with a fairly bizarre (although not necessarily bad) mix of vegetables. The Pad Thai was good overall, although the sauce used was more watery and much much sweeter than Pad Thai normally is, and had a strange yellow color to it. Like YELLOW yellow. Again, it was good but it wasn't Pad Thai. Overall Taiwan 101 is a decent restraurant with a nice classy-ish atmosphere. The food they offer is good tasting and made with good ingredients. Just don't visit it expecting actual Thai food, as the name and marketing suggest. I'll probably be back at some point to get more of the Panang curry, some time when I'm too lazy to drive out to a real/better Thai place. With any luck they'll add more Thai dishes (RED CURRY) in the future, but I'm not holding my breath

Best Asian food in beaver county! Order the amazing chicken and be prepared to be amazed! ... Really it's amazing! Ask for Justin, he is our favorite server and provides a great experience. The family who owns the restaurant are good people who care about producing quality, well-tasting meals. Eat in or take out - I promise you won't be disappointed!

Great food, quick service, nice atmosphere. As others have said, the food here tastes different than what we've had elsewhere (and we've eaten all over the country). The Thai food (pad thai and panang) didn't taste anything like what we've had before, but it was delicious. The chicken and eggplant was also delicious and our granddaughter enjoyed here chicken and corn (baby corn on the cob). This is served family style with the food arriving on platters; you take what you want from each platter. The serving sizes were easily big enough to feed two. Even the child's plate was big enough for an adult. We'll definitely come back. The menu is on the web at mytaiwan101.com

I am a Chinese Buffet fan. I love to see the one obese person at the buffet, one person who fills their dish only to not eat a thing, and I love to get the foods that have no relation to the Chinese dining experience such as mac and cheese and pudding. Once in a while though, it is nice to have a good dining experience without the buffet side show which is why my boyfriend suggested going to Taiwan 101. Taiwan 101 has a wonderful website with pricing so you can see what you are going to order ahead of time. My favorite part of the site is the left side where when your mouse goes over the menu options, a nice chime plays. This site is also the reason why I was hesitant to go here at first, simply because each dinner is around 10 dollars a piece. When I did go here to order, I got the sweet and sour Chicken. The portions were large and delicious. The food tasted like they took their time making it, and they gave me a side of fried rice as well. The fried rice was not the best I had, but it was still a good side. I also ordered an egg roll. It was plated with two sauces which were beyond delicious. The atmosphere here is great. The napkins were a cross between cloth and paper and were a nice touch to my dinner. They serve Coke products and have a mini bar too. The service was wonderful and although they do not feature all of the side show attractions the buffet across the street has, I will still be going back for more.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
