Food is always delicious. Severs are friendly . Nice place for a quiet dinner. I'd like to come out a little bit later it's not as crowded Monday nights are the best trying to show up

Many of our friends had told us that the Barn Door was a good place to eat, but that they hadn't been there in years. Well, apparently things have changed dramatically over the years. We each ordered an entree and a glass of water, no drinks, no appetizers and no dessert. My wife ordered one of the dinner specials, orange roughy in dill sauce, and I ordered the scallops. So far so good, yes? NO! My wife got ? orange roughy? with horse radish sauce, and I got a half dozen small rubbery scallops with a white rice/wild rice mixture, which was actually the best part of my meal. During our meal I had to ask twice before we got refills on our water and the water had no ice in it. The bill arrived and I was shocked at the, almost, $40 tab. Not what one would expect to pay at a $$ restaurant, especially when the food wasn't even diner quality. Our experience with the Barn Door, VERY DISSAPPOINTING!

The best thing about this place is the staff. Very friendly and have been working here for years. Faithful older crowd loves the place. Food is average. Never great. We have been going here for 30 + years but only because it is close by. Two stars is enough.

The Barn Door is a Millersville staple for family dining, but I wouldn't call it a destination spot. My grandparents and family love the place and there is a lot to choose from, but the food is just average. I tried a special of the day - Chicken Parmigiana - and it was little more than a boiled chicken breast with melted cheese and spaghetti sauce. Not what I normally expect for that meal. No pounded pattie, breading, etc. The meal was bland tasting, but seemed to be good quality meat and ingredients. I suggest a burger or sandwich instead. The beer selection is average, with just a few on tap and the wine selection is fairly poor (Gallo is a selection). The service is also average, though the atmosphere is more quiet than expected for the wood interior.

Nowhere near as good as it used to be. The food is bland and made with cheap ingredientants. The place is very popular with the older residents but the food is hardly worth it

In short: good food, old style atmosphere, decent staff. I went here for lunch and got the filet Mignon with crab cake, the filet was very tender and flavorful. The crab cake was decent, nothing to rave about or complain about. Though fries coming with the meal definitely represents the class of the place. The atmosphere feels like a fancy barn, which I the feel they're going for. I don't particularly like it, but older folks might enjoy it's homey feel. The wait staff was nice but a little distant. I didn't mind it though, she was helpful when we needed her but no overbearing. This is a good place for Millersville, especially with its limited options.

Our stomachs called to us as we headed to the Point of View to catch a film. The first non-pizza shop we passed was the Barn Door. The menu tells the tale of how this was once part of the scale house or something for the Millersville turnpike. During a renovation the owners discovered the original old doors inside the wall. Instead of somehow incorporating them the story notes that they were re-encased and that they are still there. That is an average response - the doors werent removed or highlighted but entombed and listed on the menu. That averageness typifies this restaurant. The server was friendly. The "large" draft beer is just a standard 16oz pint glass. The crabcake was decent but I think it was served on toast. No mustard came with the crabcake - which I found odd for this area. My oyster sandwich was awful. Chewy and parts of it were COLD. Gross and juicy and I say avoid this mess. One of my pet peeves is skimpy amounts of potato chips and the Barn Door subscribes to this policy. Barely a handful of chips made it to each plate. The menus lists the pickle and chips as "complimentary" when you buy a sandwich. For $30 I could have purchased a LOT more food elsewhere. Our visit wasn't bad but I won't return. This place has been under the management of the same family for decades. This is an admirable thing but they truly need some fresh guidance on how things are cooked and served.

Good service, with average food. Not a thing wrong with the food. Wines are very basic.
