I have mixed feelings about River Rock Inn. The food was delicious, although presentation was uninspired. House wines decent and not expensive at $6 per glass. Wait staff was inattentive. The first time we were offered refills on water was while waiting for the credit card to be returned for signature at the end of the meal. Service was very slow. We waited 30 minutes between the salad and the entree. We also had to wait 20 minutes to be seated despite a reservation. The manager made no apology and did not offer a complimentary glass of wine or anything else to take the sting out of waiting so long. Neither the manager nor the waiter made any explanation or apology for how long we had to wait for our meal. Portions were very generous, but expensive even with the large portion. Bottom line: if you have all night and don't mind spending a lot of money, have dinner here. But there are other better options in Milford.

Enjoyed our lunch today. Mushroom soup as an accompaniment was delicious and a great start on a cold day. One choice we werent't so thrilled with was the cheese and onion tart. Aside from that, everything else was satisfactory, including the warm breads and the coffee. Very attentive staff.

As nice as the old location was...the new one tops it! Haven't had a bad meal here yet, and the special River Rock salad is a must. On the last visit one of the bartenders was a little bit gruff, but maybe it was just an off day. The average drinks are a bit on the pricey side, but no one is forcing you. Absolutely highly recommended!

Tried to have lunch here a month ago and they were closed! It actually looked like they went out if business. I have a weekend/Summer home here in the Poconos and have always wanted to try it ever since it was on "Hotel Hell". Looked it up online...drove into town and ghost town!! I even tried the door and it was locked...no sign...no hours...nothing!! Here I thought they turned things around. Very disappointed. I'm still not sure if they have regular hours. P.S.-even called and got an answering machine with no explanation.

Awesome place to have a memorable dinner. The crab cakes are the best I've ever had. The entree portions were a little too large but that's not always a bad thing. Everything was superb. The waitress was very accommodating. Definitely give it a try.

I normally make it a point to review businesses on yelp with praise, as many people only write reviews when they are furious with an establishment. In this case, I am making an exception. DO NOT I repeat DO NOT even TRY to stay here. I say try because after booking my reservation over 3 months in advance (and providing all of my info, including name, address, phone number, and credit card number) AND calling to confirm my own reservation 2 days prior to arrival, we were still left outside standing in the dark in the middle of the night in a town that had long since closed up. Two people assured me that our room key would be left in the mail box for us, along with instructions on how to find our room. After leaving a message to tell them what happened, no one even bothered to call me back. When I left a message on facebook, I was told they never received a phone number or credit card number, nor did they receive my voicemail, and my post was deleted. This tells me that the folks running this place are totally unorganized, have horrible customer service, and frankly, are total jerks. I am very disappointed. I would never recommend this place to anyone. STAY AWAY.

This is the four star in the area - I'm convinced of it. River Rock Inn is kind of tucked back from the main road, but it's worth the visit. It looks to be an old home redone as restaurant. Low ceilings, wood beams, and the interesting layout that comes from the conversion. They looked closed from the outside, with just a couple cars in the parking lot, but that was deceiving. What I saw of the dining room was very small, a bar and maybe four or five tables, but I'm sure there was more elsewhere. I and four dinner companions started with salads for everyone, which looked fairly standard, and an "exotic mushroom bisque" for me. Very good, creamy and smooth, with a pretty subtle mushroom flavor. Probably mostly cream, and thus good for me, it was nonetheless very tasty. I had the scallops and shrimp over wilted spinach and risotto. I must visit the risotto first - I am beginning to think people actually may not know what risotto is. Rice is not risotto. What I had was kind of a gummy rice - it was fine for what it was, but not risotto, lacking that creamy al dente texture. Anyway. The rest of the dish was great - nice big shrimp in a sort of lemony cream sauce, and perfectly cooked tender scallops with a nice crust on them in the same sauce. The wilted spinach was tasty, the right amount of salty, instead of *too* salty like it can easily be. And there was more fresh spinach under the shrimp and scallops, which was nice to have with the cream sauce. All in all, a very good dish. Others enjoyed the rack of lamb, which looked solid, a *massive* porterhouse with bleu cheese butter and french fries drizzled with white truffle oil, and a swordfish dish. I didn't get a report on the swordfish, but the lamb got good reviews, and the porterhouse got excellent reviews, while simultaneously being about three meals for a normal human. Massive portion, looked perfectly cooked, and good flavor. We skipped desert. So, risotto aside - I am going to vote this as the high point of Milford dining. Better than the Tom Quick, I think based on what I and others had, and while the risotto is a pretty big ding for me - see my review of Tutto Italiano - I want this to stand out to anyone Yelping the area and looking for a great meal. Just...don't count on that risotto. It was a little more pricey than the Tom Quick, maybe more than we want to spend on a regular meal, but as a once in a while, it was a great find.

I was rooting for this place after seeing it on Hell's Hotel. I figured that, after Gordon Ramsey revamped it, it should be well managed at the very least. I was delighted by the demeanor of the hostess who took my reservation, the old-style charm of the space (which feels every bit of its 100 + years), the pleasant staff, the lovely secluded table at which we were seated and our sweet, cheerful server. My expectations were raised even further when owner/chef (Ken Pisciotta) came out to personally welcome my party. We started with crab-cakes, calamari (got legs mostly though) and the goat cheese quesadilla. Other than being extraordinarily spicy, they were all very good for the most-part. The mushroom and carrot soups, as well as the Thai salad, are also tasty. Unfortunately, that's all I can say that's positive about this restaurant. From then on, it was a down-hill ride that ended with everyone disappointed. The kitchen/staff had a difficult time keeping our orders straight, continually confused another table with ours and leisurely delivered each meal individually, so all seven of us got served at different times. The first entrée out was my pork-chop. After a few minutes, the waitress came back and informed me the dish had been intended for another table and my order was still being prepared (she'd brought out a fried chop while I'd requested grilled). However, since I'd already started to eat, she left it on the table (and we were not charged for it), Second out was a grilled pork-chop for another guest in my party. Unlike me, he did not want to begin eating with 5 people still waiting for their food, so it sat in front of him getting cold. However, a few moments later, the waitress came back and informed us that his plate had also been intended for another party and, since he hadn't yet touched it, she just picked it up and carried it to over a diner at a different table! Eventually, the rest of our orders started trickling out. However, one of the last in my party still without an entrée had waited so long that she just canceled her order. The very last person to be served had ordered a medium-cooked steak, but the meat came out red and bloody (the inside was so raw that it was difficult to cut). We sent the steak back and asked for it to be cooked just a bit longer, but it came out about 3 minutes later and clearly hadn't been put back in the oven, so we sent it back again. The steak came back out a few minutes later and, once again, hadn't been cooked any further. While our waitresses certainly couldn't/wouldn't say it, her frustration indicated that the cook was simply refusing to prepare the steak as we'd ordered. I'm guessing Mr. Pisciotta wrongly assumed we were fussy and sent the steak back to the kitchen just to make his job difficult. He must've thought we'd then be satisfied with whatever he sent back out. We sent the steak back a third and final time and, although it ended up back in the kitchen and uneaten, was still charged on the bill (we had it removed). The prices River Rock charges for food that's simply OK (a $7 sharing fee - REALLY? $33 for raw steak?) cross the line from 'costly' to 'over-priced.' We were all annoyed and just wanted to leave, so we skipped coffee and canceled a special cake we'd pre-ordered. The hostess and waitress came to our table several times to apologize, and we appreciated it, but apologies don't make the experience any better. We overheard another table nearby also complaining about how long the food was taking to arrive, so our experience probably wasn't unusual. I guess there is a reason certain restaurants end up on Hell's Kitchen, etc. This is a place that has potential and with better management, a staff who'll push back against the chef when his ego outweighs his business acumen (assuming he even has any to begin with), some restraint on the spices and a price reduction of around $5 per entree, it could be a success. As it stands, it's no place I'd ever return to and certainly wouldn't recommend.

I was pretty impressed with this restaurant. I had absolutely no expectations when we decided to come here for dinner. They do have a full bar and a really nice dining room. They do take reservations and we were seated right away. I started with their flash fried calamari and it was really tender and delicious topped with some sort of chipotle sauce and it was a perfect touch. If you like mushrooms, their mushroom bisque was really good. It was light and creamy with a perfect amount of mushrooms. I ordered one of their specials for dinner, which consisted of a large chicken breast, broccoli rabe, prosciutto, with provolone cheese rolled up tight and panko breaded and fried till it was really crispy, juicy and not greasy at all. This whole concoction worked out perfectly. It was topped off ever so lightly with a really tasty sauce. I was really a happy camper, plus they served it with their smashed potatoes. The only really disappointing item that came along with my dinner was their choice of mixed vegetable, some sort of bland zucchini mix. I could have done without it. Otherwise, everything else was fantastic. I came here with a group of 5 people and their food was really good too, but I have to say I really enjoyed my dinner. I would definitely come back here again for dinner.

My husband and I ate here tonight after we realized it was one of the inns from the show "Hotel Hell." (We are huge Gordon Ramsey fans) We can't speak for the hotel portion, but we enjoyed our dining experience. The fried calamari was fabulous! It is drizzled in a Chipotle aeoli that was the BEST thing I ate all night. We both enjoyed our soup, although my French Onion was far better than my husband's exotic mushroom bisque. We both ordered steak, and they were delicious!! Mine was a Rib eye with a Bleu cheese butter and truffle oil fries, amazing!! My husband loved his NY strip with parmesan mashed potatoes, too. Our waitress was great. My only complaints are that the room is hot, there was an odd smell when we walked in, and our water didn't have ice. So, a quick trip to the store for ice, fans, and an air freshener would do the place well. Overall, we enjoyed our time there and left happy customers!

This was an awful experience- I would have to say the worse "first impression" ever. The restaurant was 80% empty. About 5 table were full. I stood in the hallway for 15 minutes waiting for someone to help with a table. Finally asked around, and they said they would be right with me. About 10 minutes later a guest came up to me and said I needed to talk to the bartender. She then said she would be right with me. 5 more minutes, I asked if I could just seat myself. She said fine, and would be right out. 15 more minutes...even as the waitress walked by me, nothing. No menu. no water. no greeting. I then went up to her back in the restaurant and asked if I should leave because she was apparently so busy and she said she would " try to get to me. " With that I walked out..........which I have NEVER done. The experience ruined the night for me......my one night in Milford.....

Stopped by the restaurant on a whim with my folks, and were really pleasantly surprised. Excellent and attentive service (Timothy was our server - very fast and polite!), and the food is delicious, with generous portions. Among the three of us, we had the wild mushroom bisque (smooth and flavorful!), split pea with ham soup (very rich and great ham flavor), papardelle bolognese (the sauce was amazing - just enough fresh tomatoes and perfectly infused with meat), mushroom ravioli (wonderful cream sauce), and filet mignon (perfectly prepared as medium with rich sauce and an *amazing* side of sautéed winter veggies. The ambiance is also wonderful for December - tasteful decorations, nice fireplace, and soft music - soft enough that it doesn't interrupt the conversation. The prices are a bit on the high end, but I think it's worth it. Oh yeah, definitely get half-portions for the pasta dishes - they are huge and filling!

My husband and I were dinner guests and overnight guests. The River Rock Inn is in its second year and is in a quaint old building that had not been used in years if not decades. One must appreciate 2 things. Considering what the owner/chef started with, he's come a long way, baby. Second, this is not Olive Garden. If Olive Garden is your standard of comparison, you probably don't know what fine dining is. The chef's education from the Culinary Institute of America is evident in the menu and the execution. The Inn part of the experience requires one appreciate the history of the building and the charm of age. If you want a Holiday Inn then stay there. If you want to experience a quaint bed and breakfast with an appreciative staff, River Rock Inn is for you. After the awesome food, the best surprise was the family style breakfast with the other guests. The chef joined us. The conversation and fellowship were a heartwarming start to the day. Chef Ken has only been working on this massive undertaking for 2 years. Give this courageous entrepreneur a try. I don't think you'll find a chef more dedicated to pleasing his guests. RRI hasn't arrived yet so I gave it four stars. I had to save a star for the impressive changes I expect in the coming years.

I traveled with 2 companions to River Rock Inn who have been here before the "Ramsey Redo." I, on the other hand, have only been this once and will not ever return. Wanting to check it out before the air date on September 3rd, I was excited to see what kind of things were put onto the menu that were created by Chef Ramsey. As soon as we walked into the door, the owner tells us that they didnt keep any of the foods that Ramsey created because apparently "no one liked it" Already disappointed, I decided to give it a fair shot anyway. I ordered a sweet tea and for some reason, it had a taste that all i can describe it as is medicine. It was as if someone put a squirt of chemical into the tea. The server was very happy to replace it with a sprite though. As an appetizer, we ordered the crab cakes. For almost 14$ we got one full crab cake and one that looked as if it was squished in someones hand...they were WAY undercooked and completely soggy except for the thin layer of crunchy brown on the outside. They were laying on a bed of something that looked like purple worms...pickled cabbage or vinegary onions?? Whatever it was, they were disgusting. The plate was painted with a yellow sauce...which tasted like lemon pudding and it actually made me choke a little bit. Would NEVER recommend them to anyone. Then the salads came...i didnt think it was possible to mess up a salad...but after a few bites, i came across just one HUGE piece of lettuce....but over all it was ok....its just a salad. My entree was the Portabella Ravioli. The sauce that was over the ravioli was very heavy but had a nice flavor. Even though it was wayyyy too salty, it was basically good enough. A friend of my boyfriends ordered the cheesecake for dessert. The waiter told us all the desserts was home made there...and the cheesecake was pretty tasty. The place needs a remodel something fierce. Everything is so drab and dark. It reminded me of a really old person's home, complete with the tacky wallpaper, the old wooden beams and someone should probably check out the electric because the lights flickered constantly. I will never return to the River Rock Inn...the prices were WAY too high for food that I could have gotten at an ordinary diner... It really is a shame that Chef Ramsey wasted his time on this place and even though he was there trying to help them, the owner literally slammed his ability to cook... Very disappointing.

Very nice ambiance and excellent bar drinks. Mushroom soup and salads were great. The starter called Thai for Two or some such was entirely too expensive for the amount we got. Veal Marsala had far too many capers on it. Fillet was huge but tasteless and there was simply too much food on the plate! Smashed potatoes were very good but not a good companion to chicken or Veal Marsala. We suggest pasta as a side instead. Bar service and seating staff were excellent but the table server acted more like a barmaid than a server at a supposedly high end restaurant. We would nevertheless return. The little town of Milford is a treasure and the staff at this restaurant really wanted us to have a good time though we were traveling. We had a lovely time despite the easily correctable flaws.

A welcoming home away from home. I stayed overnight here on the charming Delaware Water Gap/ Poconos town of Milford. The rooms were small clan and comfortable. The Inn is also a great restaurant with some reallllllly good food. I'm glad I stayed here and am thankful to the owner Karen for given me great directions out of town:)) Great place to stay in a cute little town if you are in the Delaware Water Gap area.

My good friend and I went to the River Rock Inn back in January/February when Gordon Ramsey was doing his show there. I tried the tortellini with homemade Vodka sauce. It was totally disgusting. The bean soup was dreadful and the cherry pie was uncooked dough. With hopes the amazing Chef would help, we decided to go back there tonight. This time I brought my lovely girlfriend along hoping it would be a nice dinner out as well. Lets start off with the decor. Its still like visiting Grandma's house back in the 70's. The wallpaper was outdated and the lights flickered every 3 minutes. I order the crab cakes for an app and it was under cooked. The "sweet tea" had a after taste that made me think I was drinking Ben-gay. When I asked the waiter what the "cherry soup" was I got a response that shocked me. He said it was a soup with cherries. I asked "so its water with cherries in it?" he replied with a "yes". Even the owner of the entire Inn could not tell me what the cherry soup was. The main entree was good and luckily I did leave full. I ordered the Linguine with clam sauce. The one last thing I should mention if everything else doesn't give you an idea of this place is the prices. Insanely over priced food. The clam cakes were $13.95. I could have went to Olive Garden and had extremely delicious food with staff that knew how to explain their menu for way less. If you want my opinion... Save yourself the trip to this place. I agree with other reviewers when they say Gordon Ramsey should not have wasted his time on this place. Oh btw, they totally dissed him for saying his food was horrible. Simply amazing.

I've never had a bad meal at the River Rock. This is my first time back since they relocated into the heart of Milford... now everything is even better. I may have had the best rack of lamb I've ever had tonight... that is saying a lot! As a family we share everything and EVERYTHING was excellent... Mushroom soup, pea soup, calamari, Thai salad, NY Strip steak, tortellini ala vodka, the mashed potatoes, the mint pesto on the lamb, creme brûlée w/real whipped cream. One minor complaint... the onion rings that accompanied the steak looked like donuts... the onion was lost in a heavy doughy mess. One strike amidst a night of home runs did not matter though!

I got married at the River Rock in the Spring. Kenny and Karen were absolutely wonderful to my husband and I and our families. Kenny made sure the garden was beautiful for the ceremony and the food was exactly what we wanted. Our guests were allowed to order off the regular menu and everyone thought their meal was excellent. We had a bunch of little kids in our wedding party and Kenny made sure they had 'little kid food'.

Excellent food, pretty good service -- the waitress was charming and knowledgeable, but slow. Crab and fish cakes were fantastic; the mushroom soup was delicious, and the short-rib stroganoff was very good. They never wrote down my reservation (made the day before), but it wasn't a problem; we were seated immediately. The hostess did buy the first round of drinks because of the reservation mistake, which was a very appreciated gesture. I highly recommend this restaurant and can't wait to go back and give them more of my money.

Cheryl S. review was so right on. This place is just so-so. Mediocre at best. I was there with some friends a few days ago and I ordered the The Bass with Farro and Fennel. Flavorless it certainly was. The Fish was horrible and Farro was so greasy and flavorless that I sent back the whole dish. The waitress was very nice and accommodating and had a Pasta dish replacement for me within a few minutes. That didn't stop the untrained busboy from clearing the table of my dining companions' plates before I finished or even got half way through my replacement dish! Throughout the meal the busboy continued to reach across the table directly in front of my face to pour water and clear the table. At one point another waitress came by to clear my companions' wine glass and didn't even bother to check our bottle of wine which was sitting in the cooler and clearly still had wine in it. To top things off the Hostess did not even make an appearance at our table except to show us to it at the beginning of our night. Too bad for River Rick and a shame Gordon Ramsey wasted his time!

Had lunch here -- my wife had a salad with chicken- mediocre. I had a panini with prosciutto - awful - The edges of the prosciutto were dried like shoe leather and even the center was bad- Panini bread overdone and hard a a rock. It was served with poorly done homemade fries- some OK some inedible - should have sent it back but ate some of it. They did offer a free desert but we refused . Very disappointing after reading good reviews on this place. On the plus side -- nice setting and nice staff
