My husband and I stayed at the Inn and also at at the restaurant over Valentine's Day weekend 2015. Overall, everything was ok, but not amazing. Let's start with the pros: 1. Price for the room was very reasonable, especially for the weekend. The room was also very large for the cost. 2. Breakfast in the morning was exceptional. 3. Wifi for the Inn is great. Free and high speed. They have several wifi networks to keep speeds high. I think this is a very nice touch. 4. The Inn itself is quite beautiful, although the individual rooms look dated. 5. No problems staying warm even though it was a very cold night. Radiator worked like a champ! Cons: 1. The bed was soft an uncomfortable. I prefer a firmer mattress, so this is a personal choice. 2. The furniture in the room was dated and a bit dirty. I had a white couch and chair in the room and they were both grey with stains and wear. Looks very bad. 3. The restaurant was nothing special and definitely over priced. We had salads, entrees and dessert. The salads were OK, nothing special. I had the duck which was very good (4.5 stars), but my husband had the pork chop. He ordered it medium and it came well done. Very dry (zero stars). Dessert was also OK but nothing exceptional. We chose to go to another restaurant for the second night of our stay. 4. First time I took a shower there was no problem. Second time I had to rush through because the hot water gave out (shower was at 11am - definitely not peak time).

I loved the place as a whole. It was beautiful and enjoyed the history of the building. I'd have to say the staff were really incredibly accomodating and nice. The owner didn't get along well with one of our friends who stayed with us who happens to be a French Moroccan wheeler and dealer- a fantastic price negotiator. For the duration of our weekend's stay she kept pouring his scotches 1/4 of the way. It was amusing to watch. She was polite to the rest of us. We heard some pretty creepy noises in the night as well which couldn't have come from other guests. We wondered of the possibility of hauntings but rested okay thinking / hoping the house is old and creaky (esp during the blizzard weekend when we were there). The food is OK, not to die for, but Flannery's Tavern around the corner is amazing! Go there!! All in all, I loved the place and will return!

My wife and I came to Mercersburg for a ski trip and decided to stay at the Inn, not knowing if it would be nice or something close to a hostel. When we arrived we were greeted very nicely by the staff and even given a little backround info on the house and it's history. We had made reservations for a ski package, and the staff was very informative and helpful, giving us directions and info on how to get us on the slopes as quickly as possible. The rooms at the Inn are very nice. We stayed in a room in the carriage house and it was great! Very nice bed, great shower, and our room even had a tub with jets! Overall it was a very nice and comfortable stay for us, and we highly recommend it. Beats staying at one of the usual hotel chains for sure!

My sister got married at the Mercersburg Inn, a former mansion for a local family, a truly elegant location and beautiful experience. The owners and their staff were very attentive. The wedding occurred in the dead of the winter, so it must be even more exquisite in the spring/summer with the garden and trees in bloom. It was great to have the ceremony, the cocktail hour (cute bar area), the reception, and stay all in the same fabulous place. The Wedding party, family, and some friends were lucky enough to stay in the unique and elegant rooms, all with names and with the most comfortable beds and sitting areas (and pin cushions). Full breakfasts created by their chef were served on the weekend...delicious...blueberry coffee cake, blintzes, spinach feta quiche, banana cream cake, etc. Our rehearsal dinner's pasta and meatballs had an authentic sauce that was almost as good as our nunny's sauce/meatballs. and delicious tiramisu for dessert. And for the wedding reception there were up to 5 delicious entrees to choose from. Very dramatic to have my sister and dad enter the ceremony in a large, curved staircase. Their dining area is also open for dinner and breakfast on the weekends (barring a big event like a wedding : ) If you truly want to get away from it all in--no tv in your room, just one in the game room-- and not stay in your normal chain hotel please try this place. Near a ski resort and parks, as well as antique stores and historic attractions. They also seem to have special event weekends throughout the year....like cooking lessons, etc. It is a beautiful change of pace.

A very nice inn right next door to Mercerburg Academy. A former mansion, built in the late 1800's I suspect, we stayed in what I assume was the master bedroom. The room was beautiful and a nice throwback to yesteryear. The inn has plenty of on-site parking and dining room complete with a respectable selection of dishes and wine. There is also a nice bar in the inn for hanging out at the end of a long day. Now, what you do on that long day in Mercersburg, I have no idea, but the bar is there just in case.

Checked in here yesterday afternoon and check-out time today is 11am. I asked to see the room we would be in, but was told that it wasn't prepped yet, and therefore I was unable to know in advance whether the room would look like. The Inn is beautifully appointed. The room we stayed in was adequate in size, but not large enough to sleep 2 adults and 2 children w/o wheeling in a cot. The bathroom doesn't have the conveniences of a 4-star hotel, and I didn't like that the bathtub/shower did not have the necessary shelving for personal toiletries. Congeniality is everything when it comes to hospitality, so I must say that one administrative staff member does not do the Inn justice in this regard. At 11:05, It is time to leave, but I have not seen any adminstrative staff since breakfast (8-9:30) was over...no one to bid us adieu.

Stayed at Mercersburg Inn last weekend. Wonderful, friendliy, down to earth staff. Beautiful home, with comfy beds and wonderful food. The dinner was one of the top 5 meals of my life. My husband and I both had the filet. It was cooked to perfection and a great size with wonderful sides. Highly recommend!

We celebrated my wife's birthday with a Saturday evening dinner at the Mercersberg Inn. What a lovely place! The food was terrific - my wife had the soup of the day and I had the old classic of french onion soup - best I've had in a long time. For entrees my wife had monkfish and I had the duck - fish excellent, duck pretty good - tasty but could have used more sauce. Portions were very generous, so we split a creme brulee for dessert. We have a friend who makes world-class creme brulee so we're always comparing restaurant versions to his, and the Inn's was first-rate. It's a pricey night out but great for a special occasion. Will visit again.
