Nothing bad, nothing great. Came here for the first time to try somewhere new for breakfast. From the time we walked in the place was... Nondescript. Interior was pink and orange shades of a Miami retirement community, sparsely decorated and filled with bland laminate booths. The breakfast menu was small and filled with standard egg and pancake combos written in the same boring font as any east coast diner. The blackboard advertised mimosa and bloody mary specials so we tried one of each. Not bad but not great and the tiniest sizes i have ever had. My wife ordered the Spanish omelet and I tried the number 7 (egg and home fries scramble) with a side of corned beef. Portions were decent sized but everything lacked seasoning and my corned beef was burnt on the bottom. Service was ehhh - again not bad but not attentive or overly warm. Would i eat here again? Yes, but not if there were other option available.

The decor made me laugh like it was a cafe at an old folks home which it seems it is. However the food is great. I was super hungry and got a double burger. I assumed the patties would be small but it was a huge burger that I could barely finish. The fries were great and crispy. I also got clam strips to go on another occasion and try were nice and crispy also.

I was pleasantly surprised with this place. Nothing special about the decor, just your average diner, but the Reuben I ordered was made perfectly! The waitress was friendly and attentive and my food came out rather quickly. Decent price for a decent meal.

This place should really work on their public relations. Pulled into their lot, considering going in for breakfast and was greeted by a very rude gentleman that told us it was a private parking lot and we weren't able to park there if we were going to Dieners next door. Needless to say, we're eating at Dieners!!!! Bad form, very bad form!!

If you are looking for a great place with great service for Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner, The Colony House is that place What ever is on the menu is prepared with skill. The wait staff are kind and professional. Great Service I loved the Battered Dipped Haddock. I frequently enjoy breakfast there as well.

Never stopped in here before. Quite frankly, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. We had actually stopped at the Gingerbread man down the street but nobody every came around and it smelled like smoke so we left. Thank goodness, because we found this place. It's like a diner inside. Mostly booths. Simple ambiance. Good food. My daughter had the clam chowder (a Saturday special) and it was really good. Full of clams, great consistency, good flavor. Hubby and I tried the cajun chicken breast gyro. It was good. Just the right size for lunch. We ordered feta cheese on the side and it really made the dish. I like that they serve wine and beer. Not a typcial offering for a diner style restaurant. Lots of good looking items on the menu. Prices are very good. The guy behind us ordered a burger and it looked fantastic. We will definitely be back again and again.

From the outside I expected a bit more in the way of ambience...upon entering noted a rather tired atmosphere with Formica booths and piano music in the background- rather odd. Ordered the souvlaki platter - basically a gyro made with pork tenderloin . After a 20 min wait feeling forgotten it arrived. Nice warm pita, great crunchy fries but the meat itself difficult to chew. The brewed tea was great with a wedge of lemon. The menu here is sparse at least for lunch. The waitresses hung out bored and lacked an attentive eye. Sadly I often find this when dining alone. Next time will try another venue.

Bottom line up front: I will not ever spend another penny here. For the details, my family and I were in Mechanicsburg for a halloween event and after the event decided to stop in at the Colony House as we had never eaten there before. Before we went in, I checked their menu online and saw that there was a coupon on their website. That sealed the deal and we went in. We were one of three tables seated and had to wait a while for the waitress, and much longer for the food itself. The food came out and the fried foods were nothing to brag about and my wife's gyro platter looked like, and tasted like it had been precooked and then just reheated with extra oil in a fry pan and was dripping grease everywhere. The boneless hot wings were just chunks of fried chicken with a plastic tub of straight hot sauce, not even a remote attempt at a buffalo sauce. The one decent spot was that the fries were cooked well. The food was sub-par quality for even a grease-pit diner, nothing was fresh, and everything was bland and/or greasy. The cost of the food was on par with Red Robin which is in a whole different category of quality of food AND service. The service itself was abhorrent. The waitress wouldn't address my 14yr old daughter directly, asking us what she wanted to eat when she is more than capable of ordering for herself. Also, she gave her a tiny kids cup of water, and then when it was empty within 30 seconds, only gave her 1 refill during the entire meal to the point that she had to drink off of my wife's glass. When my daughter's food came out (Shrimp basket), instead of asking her if she wanted any sauce with the shrimp, she asked my wife what sauce my daughter wanted with the shrimp? Why? This was odd. When our glasses sat empty for quite a while, I had to flag her down to ask for refills. She picked up our glasses, went the 10 feet to the drink station, set the glasses down and proceeded to pick up a towel and sweeper and go clean up a few booths before coming back to fill the glasses and return them. Keep in mind that there had only been two other tables than ours that were seated. Why would you make your customers wait like that is beyond me. When it came time to pay, I went to the register and showed them the coupon on my phone. The cashier/hostess said she didn't know how to handle that and the cook/manager (owner possibly?) came out and was very rude and dismissive about how he couldn't take a coupon from my phone unless I left my phone so he could keep it with the receipt. WTF? He could have politely said that they require all receipts to be printed out and I would have understood. He had no reason to be an A-hole about it. I told him that was the reason we had come in and he was again a jerk about it so I told him he could keep the extra 3 bucks and that he would never see me or anyone in my family in that restaurant ever again. The service was bad enough that I probably wouldn't have gone back, the food had absolutely zero redeeming qualities about it, and the bad attitude is what convinced me to leave this review to let everyone know. At this point, I would rather pay full price for a meal at any other restaurant than to recieve a free meal from Colony House.

I stopped in here alone for lunch and ordered a tuna melt. The tuna salad was heated to an extremely hot temperature--definitely not how I usually like my tuna melts. The waitress could have been nicer--she treated me almost as an annoyance, so I doubt I will return.
