I went in for the first time recently and had a great experience. It's a small store that shares the building with other businesses so from the door I could only see pharmacy and beauty products so I must have looked confused. One of the ladies greeted me right away and showed me the correct aisle. I meant to only get one thing but the store is packed with everything from frozen foods to kids' toys. It's like an Asian grocery except everything is neat and organized and none of the foods still have their heads. Everything is clearly labeled for allergy-sufferers, which is so super-helpful. The prices are about what I would expect for organic/gluten-free/specialty products, but it's a time and gas saver for me to not have to go to Hillside, Weg's, an Asian grocery, and/or the Farmer's Market. I have no complaints about their customer service. I'd been sick all week and hadn't bothered to change out of my sweatpants, and probably looked like I came from an emergency shelter when I wandered in. The cashiers were as pleasant as could be. The guy ahead of me was arguing with one of the cashiers about who knows what. While he was not nice to her at all, she held it together like a pro. I've been back a couple of times and it's been fine. So maybe they are elitist, but they're the kind of elitists who would be nice to a ratty-red-nosed-sweatpants-wearing-possibly-homeless-person, and they carry a great selection of health-conscious products.

I only stop at HON if I have to because it's a quick stop on my way home from work. I know it's good to support local businesses and I do for the most part. But when it comes to this place I would much rather go to Wegman's. The prices are lower and the staff much nicer. The staff at HON act as if you're a bother because you need to check out. They're never friendly and seem as though they hate life. I've never seen one employee at HON ever crack a smile. What a depressing place. I just got off of a phone call with my mom and she just mentioned the same exact stuff to me! She was telling me how miserable these employees act when you're shopping. It's so frustrating to shop in such a depressing atmosphere.

This store is awesome. Pricey, but great selection. They sell fresh almond and peanut butter (and they give free samples!), and I highly recommend their baked goods. The vegan cupcake and vegan toffee oat bar were both ridiculously delicious. They had pizza, soup, salad etc. available as well. Also, I disagree with the previous review about poor customer service. Both ladies were super helpful and courteous--I even overheard them deal with a rude customer, and they were still kind. And they know their products well. I will most definitely be shopping here again!

we are really lucky to have the house of nut here, i feel like a kid in a candy store there. anyone from this area who wants to bad mouth this place should try out a specialty store in another part of this country if they want to see elitist staff. this crew is very helpful when asked, and its in luzerne, its in luzerne! you dont have to do all your shopping there but they are perfect for all the goods this valley doesnt offer. i would hate to see this local treasure gone one day. support the house of nutrition!

They have a very large selection of organic foods, and holistic remedies. Since I've adopted a more holistic approach to caring for my pets, I've been there a lot and they always have what I'm looking for, no matter how obscure the item. I don't really need the people working there to gush all over me when I shop there as the other reviewer apparently does; they have what I need, and are the only store close to home who do, and for that I am extremely grateful. They also have yoga upstairs, which I enjoy very much :)

The house of nutrition carries a wide variety of organic, vegan and vegetarian selections in a small town setting. Although the store is clean and well organized there is a major flaw with their customer service. I don't know what the issue is but whenever I stop in the store I am usually not greeted with a hello or even a smile. I'm greeted with an ugly scowl. I would never dare to ask an associate at this store for help with a product. All of the associates seem to have an "elitist air" about them, with the exception of perhaps to associates I have encountered there. Aren't these people supposed to be the epitome of peace and tranquility? They all look the part of crunchy granola organic types, but in reality they are miserable phonies. I won't spend my money in this store again to support fake hippies who charge way too much in order to afford their car payment on their big fat A8 2011 Audi parked in the back.

I visited this store today and found very helpful associates. Prices are a little high. They have the hard to find herbs that in itself is amazing, now I don't have to order what I was looking for online and have to wait for it to be shipped. I will definitely come back and shop here.
