I attended a wedding rehearsal dinner there on 9/4 - what a lovely restaurant. The food was excellent, service was good, and the piano player in the lounge area was phenomenal, singing with some of the restaurant patrons. I would highly recommend and would love to go back when we are in the area again.

I am all about supporting local businesses, but not when it blows my budget. We've been in the area 3 years hoping to one day come in and enjoy on a special occasion, Easter. Can't say we will. It is hard to even like a business when they make it hard to like them back. Charging 18.95 for buffet for all kids 10 and under??? I know any business can do whatever they want but when I know my child will be eating scraps in comparison to my husband and I, we decide to go to The Radnor Hotel and / or Desmond Hotel where I would consider it fine dining and they do not charge children 5 and under. Don't offend me by telling me because my little children TAKE UP SPACE and use silverware and a WHOLE table is the reason a business needs to charge $18.95 for children 3 and under. That is atrocious and it only tells me that a restaurant does not like kids and it is not family friendly. I am sad to say that we will not be visiting Vicker's Tavern based on this logic and reasoning. I especially do not like someone pretending to be a manager only to come back to the phone and sounding like the SAME person I talked to earlier. I do not like being treated like an idiot. Update: We just found a place nearby that agreed to waiver the price for our 3 and under kids. Now business was lost for 4 adults.

I had wanted to stop here for many years, but can't say I was glad to have finally made it. I knew Vickers was a special occasion type of place and was prepared to pay the price, but now I understand why this place is always empty when I drive by. It's just not worth it. We arrived and had to stand around a few minutes before we were greeted. The host table is not near the door and I had to walk across the room to advise the host of our reservation. He was not very welcoming and had that uptight pretentious European demeanor. Note to management: I'm the guest, I'm going to spend some serious coin and will return if I'm treated well. The bartender made a major mistake on a drink, the waiter screwed up my wife's order, and I was served the smallest piece of tepid fish for a $39 entree. I will give a compliment for the table side Dover sole, it was expertly deboned. The apple strudel was small and flavorless and overpriced at $10. The waiter even screwed up serving a cup of tea, totally clueless about which flavor of tea was available. The final bill was $160 for me and my wife without tip. Vickers is off my bucket list and gave me no reason to return. High prices relative to quality and portion size, poor service and indifferent management.

Came here for the first time tonight for a birthday celebration. This restaurant has the same fee asl my other favorite restaurant, The Dilworth. The food was very delicious. The filet was cooked perfect with a delicious bernaise sauce. The steak Diane is cooked table side and had a creamy rich brandy sauce. The Caesar salad, also cooked table side was fresh and hearty....only issue was he made the dressing and added vinegar. It caused the salad to have a bitter taste. More garlic would have been appreciated as well as some shaved parmesan cheese. Desserts were delicious. Chocolate Mousse pie and banana fosters ( table side). This place is pricey like the Dilworthtown Inn, but the food is just as delicious and the service was impeccable. I believe our server was Kevin...he was terrific.

I would suggest that you do not go to Vickers. I took my wife and family out for Mothers day. Upon walking up to the hostess stand, there was no one to seat us for about 5 minutes. We just stood in the bar until a waiter spilled a Champaign flute and a mimosa and glass spilled all over my pants and my sons legs. No apology...nothing. We were seated and we had a choice of a drink of coffee, oj or a $10 flute of Champaign. At 2pm, we could not get a soft drink?!/ And, he struggled to get us a refill. Our waiter was fair-average, but the waiter next to us was rude and obnoxious growling at tables near us. He was also the spiller we ran into in the bar...go figure. The food was ok-good. Then, we got the bill and it was for 4 adults when my kids are 9 and 10? I questioned our waiter and he said that he had to charge us that amount since they ate off the adult menu vs the kids menu. The problem was, there was no other menu. The kids chose 2 items and we chose 3 - per the rules. Plus, they did not eat much anyway. So, I called the manager over and he rectified the situation and confirmed our waiter was a liar. So, at Vickers in Exton, you can expect drinks getting spilled on you without an apology, fair food and waiters that lie to pump up the bill. NEVER again.

I came here for Easter brunch yesterday. The place was PACKED, but they handled it with poise. There were 10 of us, and our waitress managed to fulfill everyone's requests while inserting some wit and charm that made us all really enjoy her. The menu was a price fixe- 3 courses for $29+ change. As a vegetarian, my options were incredibly limited. Our reservation was at 1p, and we didn't eat anything prior to arriving. I feel like that was our biggest mistake. They brought out some pastries which we promptly consumed in entirety, and then requested more, which our waitress did very kindly. I ordered the Spring Asparagus. I expected big fat asparagus spears with the equivalent of a poached egg on top. What I got was skinny (yet tasty) asparagus spears with a hard boiled egg (a quarter of an egg?) crumbled. It looked beautiful... but i really would have loved more of it! I got the quiche as my entree. IT was a fairly decent sized piece of quiche, but again, i think i was just ravenous by the time we got there. I ate pretty much everything on my plate and was still pretty hungry. Some of the other dishes, namely the Salmon and the Steak and Eggs looked much more filling... just not for me :-(. For dessert I had the creme brulee which was HUGE and delicious! That was the biggest score yet. Easter happened to be my birthday. The waitress forgot to put a candle in my brulee at first, but quickly righted herself, and my family sang at me awkwardly as the atmosphere is very dignified and upscale. The desert was HEAVEN. It was one of the most delicious things I've ever ate. I'd go back just for this alone. All in all, my experience at Vickers was nice! I'd love to have left a bit more full, but I was happy with my food, and the service was great!

The food was good, but too skimpy for my taste. If you charge me $25.00 for a chicken dinner, I shouldn't leave hungry. Service was good. Acoustics in the small room we were in made it hard for my party to chat without making too much noise plus we heard other table's conversation whenever we were quiet. I doubt I will ever go back.

This is really one of my favorite restaurants in the area. If you are looking for great French cuisine outside of Philadelphia, this is one of the classics.

We had a lovely Friday evening dinner here while staying nearby. We did enjoy the atmosphere, including the fire in the fireplace, the live piano, and the traditionally-furnished historic building. We came for the Oktoberfest Prix Fixe dinner and were not disappointed. We started by sharing the (extra) smoked salmon, which was excellent. I had the Bison sauerbraten, which was very flavorful, was quite tender, and portion size was also good. My husband had the wurst, also very tasty but smaller portion size. We also both liked the accompanying items (red cabbage, sauerkraut, smashed potatoes.) I was allowed to substitute smashed potatos for the spaetzle, an item that I generally don't enjoy. The included desserts were Black Forest cake and apple strudel with ice cream. We enjoyed both and agreed that they were not overly sweet, a big plus. Our service was competant, not spectacular. However we did notice that the sizable family party seated near us did get very competant service, including the arrival of all their main courses including complicated flambe, in appropriate timing. Worth noting as this is a rare accomplishment in my experience. Overall we would say that the meal was very good, but a bit overpriced: we would return, but not often. Hence four stars rather than five.

Sat at the bar. Food was delicious. We had moules frites, crab and artichoke fondue and short ribs. Along with an excellent martini and sidecar. We can't make any judgements about the dining experience in the actal dining room except to say it appeared to be more formal and the entree prices teflect this we were able to order from the dinner menu and did have Bananas foster for dessert--couldn't resist a Mad Men moment--and it was prepared table side. The bartender was a delight, as was the pianist. Drinks classic and fantastic. Clientele delightful company. Food worth eating. Prices reasonable. Go and have fun. Now. We'll be back.

possible 3.5 stars. Food was pretty good but overpriced. Vegetables on the side were plain and boring. Lobster bisque was good but no lobster seen. Rolls were hot but plain and white. Butter was rock hard, but there was a herb butter in the three shells we received, Red pepper coulis had a horrible brown color to it with the Arctic Char.

Came for dinner with my parents last Friday night. I had only been in there once before and at the bar. Knew it was a place the parents would fall in love with! It is a total step back in time. So cozy, intimate, with everyone being so attentive and friendly. The wine list is small, but nicely done, and has wine by the glass. Beer is bottle only, and pretty small. Seems to be more of a cocktail crowd though. The parents both were thrilled to see escargot on the menu, and they were wonderfully garlic bites that melted in your mouth. I had the Steak Diane, which is prepared/flambeed tableside. I was concerned that the veg would be overcooked, but the carrots/brocc/fingerlings all were perfectly and crisp cooked. We were seated in one of the side rooms, and there were only two other couples dining with us, making it very intimate and even more enjoyable with the live piano. The only non-perfect part of the meal was the creme brulle, which was more of a custard and lacking the crackle of the sugar crust that is so desired. It was altogether a wonderful experience, and will be a place to return too!

Overpriced and not that good. Dirty feeling in restaurant. Salad was not fresh and rest of dinner was nothing great. For the price it should have been much better. Manager/ owner? was rude.

I made a reservation at Vickers for Easter brunch for two of us and was thoroughly disappointed. While the food was pretty good, the service that we received was terrible for the following reasons: 1) Our server did not approach our table until almost 10 minutes after we were seated 2) When our server did come to our table she did not greet us AT ALL and instead proceeded to fill our water glasses and orange juice, without saying hello or welcome to Vickers. 3) We were then given a bread basket, if you want to call it that. There were 2 tiny pastries and the basket looked like it had been picked over by another table. When I asked our server why our bread basket had been noticeably smaller than other tables around us, she meekly answered that they were instructed to only give out only the number of rolls to match the number of people at the table. This is while I can obviously see the table next to mine with much more than 4 rolls for their table of 4. 4) Our server then only checked up on us once during the entire 1.5 hours that we sat at the table and we had to wait another 10 minutes at the end of the lunch for her to come back with the check. 5) To top things off, when we walked out of the restaurant, both the owner and the Maître d failed to acknowledge us as we left the restaurant. In my world, having a focus on "first class cuisine and service" (owner's goals for the restaurant) means that each patron is treated with respect and greeted as they walk through the restaurant, not ignored by almost all of their staff. I've been to several restaurants similar to Vickers so have a good idea of the level of service that is appropriate. However, after the way that we were treated, I will not be back to this restaurant and would not recommend it to anyone else.

Romantic, intimate, cozy, this is a perfect date night place to go to. The food was wonderful and the staff could not have been nicer. There is a great wine selection. I would love to have a party here as I can see that they have accommodations for such at a future time.

Great place, great food, great service, the best French bistro I've been to in a long time.

This restaurant could get 4-5 stars for atmosphere, depending on where you sit, and what you like. If you want a cozy, cottagy, french/english country restaurant, it's pretty great inside, especially at the bar. The prices imply that a serious chef is in the kitchen, and the menu reads promisingly, although there are a few slight imperfections in the french/english translations. The food, however, is just barely OK. Meat was cooked fairly well, but was somewhat bland. Fish was the same. Sides on all of our plates were there same: veggies and mashed potatoes. Nothing particularly special. 6 of us ate there on a Monday night (which could be part of the problem). There was only one other table of 2 all night (in what is a huge restaurant). Wine list was very pricey, but we manged to find a few good bottles at reasonable rates. In the end, our tab was over $100 per person, with tip (automatically included). That's with 4 bottles of wine, one pre-dinner drink at the bar, 4 appetizers, and 3 deserts... honestly, while I'm happy to pay that for a good meal, this place is not worth the money.
