Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

Love it. The sweet sauce makes it. I did get the stomboli once and it wasn't good at all, hardly anything in it and the crust was too thick. Stick with the pizza. Better than Franzone's for the pizza.

All I can say is Yuck! I heard so many people talk about Penny's ,so about a year ago I thought I should give it a shot. Well we ordered a pizza with onions and what we got was just a disgrace if you know anything about pizza. The crust is tough, the cornmeal taste was ehh ok,the sauce is way too sweet and the onions, well I never in a million years thought that if I ordered onions on a pizza that I would get dehydrated onion flakes! They should be ashamed to serve that. For god's sake all they do is pizza and you mean to tell me they can't use actual vegetables. Did my due diligence and gave it a shot, needless to say won't be going back

This place is terrible. If you like this pizza you must really hate food. This has to be the worst pizza in the Royersford, hell, Philadelphia area. To use corn meal, which is not commonly used in making a good Italian pizza, is a horrific idea. The main reason you use corn meal is to keep the pie from sticking to the pizza peel. Penny's saturated the dough in corn meal then pounded more of this god awful substance into it whiles stretching it out. (side note: if you reheat this pie later on that corn meal will give the pie a disgusting cardboard taste with an unpleasant after taste.) After they ruin the dough, they do make an attempt at redemption but putting a good amount of cheese on the pizza. I can't knock that, you will never complain about too little cheese. Then to finish of this insult to good pizza everywhere, they dump insane amounts of obnoxiously sweet sauce all over the top of this pizza. I love Boardwalk style pizza and love sweet sauce, but this place kills everything good about both of those things. I swear the only people that like this place is older people that have delusional memories of this place from when they were kids. But come on, what child has a palette that as an adult we would find edible?. They offer pedestrian toppings and the menu is limited to Pizza and Stromboli's. Let's completely look past the creep old dirty house that is the shell of the restaurant and the lack of any customer service. I swear the attitude the employees had felt like they were doing me a favor buy making me this pizza. I can put all that aside for good food, but this place offers nothing in the way of quality or taste. It makes me question the judgement of those who would dare call this good pizza. As if this was not enough the final insult comes at charging $12.00 for a plain pizza. I will never go back and can't wait till this place closes. Why would any self respecting pizza connoisseurs eat this food? Penny's is back, but who cares!

I'm sorry, but for all the hype about this being the most amazing pizza in the area, this to me is not even real pizza. Maybe I'm missing something? I'm originally from New York and pizza is hot, filled with toppings, crispy crust, not too much sauce, and good cheese. Penny's sauce is way too sweet, there is much too much sauce on e pie, and the pie is soggy and cold. On top of that, it's usually not hot unless you pick it up as it comes out and eat it in the parking lot. I had tried it years ago, hated it. But in fairness and to support Limerick businesses, I thought I'd give it another chance when it reopened. Don't waste you money. Sorry Penny's, won't be coming back.....ever!

Very solid Pizza. They do the sauce on top and the crust with cornmeal. It is not a traditional pizza so if your kids like the crap they make at Pizza Hut, then stick to fried pizza.

I went with delivery. They charge extra, then take took 55 minutes and it was ice cold. The pizza might be better hot, because I found it too sweet and it had very little cheese. The crust is very thin and not crispy in any way. Over all the service was bad and the pizza was not worth the price.

First, many years ago I had ordered a pizza...did not like it at all then. But like everything else last week I decided to give them another try, so in November, 2014, was my second adventure there.. In short, my son and I did not like it again, however, it was slightly better than the first attempt. The pepperoni pizza was nothing to write home about. It was in general less than the run of the mill you find anywhere. The crust was thin and tasteless. The pepperoni was underneath the cheese so you can't tell how much they put on it nor get the full taste of it. And the overly sweet sauce with is the consistency of catsup and sort of tasted like it too was layered on top of the pizza cheese and pepperoni in stripes like the USA flag. The location is kind of funky too...it is in the back of a converted house sort of thing, but has plenty of parking. The bottom line is, I will not be going back. Especially as there are some much better places close by up or down the Pike not to mention names. So if you like a pizza with tasteless crust, overly sweet tomato sauce on top of the cheese and toppings underneath, this place could be for you.

This pizza is very unique. Its kind of like Mack & Mancos but with a sweeter sauce. They also use corn meal with the crust which sound weird but is very tasty. This is by far the best Pizza East of Chicago (except for Mack & Mancos). Give it a try!!

I grew up on Penny's Pizza. My dad earned a few speeding tickets getting that pizza home while it was still hot. So when I heard that they were back open for business and I was in the area, I decided to pick up a large pizza with sweet peppers, my all time favorite. I pulled up in to the parking lot and my nose instantly honed in on that familiar smell. I could barely stop myself from running in to pick up my pizza. The box was different. Other than that, it was the same exact pizza I remembered as a child. My sister and I devoured it. Sweet sauce. Sweet peppers. Corn meal crust. It was Penny's perfection. Don't change!

Update: Reopened and just as good as it always was. I hit this place at least once EVERY time I'm visiting family in P-town.

Lots of people talk about how great Pennys Pizza is, so we thought we would give it a try. I liked the pizza but my wife did not. They use a corn meal crust and the pizza sauce (which sits on top of the cheese), is on the sweet side. When you initially open the pizza box, you think they forgot the cheese, but it's there under all the sauce. We ordered just a plain cheese for the kids and a bacon and onion for ourselves. The bacon wasn't cooked real well, which is why I think my wife ultimately didn't like it. We do prefer the bacon on our pizza to be on the more crunchy side. At the end of the day, we were left somewhat disappointed, given the hype that seems to surround this place. It's not bad pizza, but it's not pizza that we would necessarily crave.

Love the pizza. Sweet sauce which is not for everyone.

This is a different type of pizza. It's sweat and covered with a lot of corn meal. Truthfully - my family only had a few bites before it hit the can. You might want to give it a try just to see if you like this type of pizza.

Penny's is okay, but could be far better, even stellar with just a little effort to taste. The great news, this is a pizza only shop. Very small menu, which if you read my reviews, really should work. Pizza, Stromboli and calzone. That's it. I ordered a plain original pie and a white pizza with broccoli and spinach. For starters, the sauce is on top. I've never really liked this, but for only one reason; it gets cold fast. Anyone who knows corn meal crusts, it does not re-heat well. So your left eating slightly warm or cold amounts of red sauce. Not appealing. It is a sweet red sauce and the sweetness can overpower your taste buds. Less sauce would present a better balance of sweet and savory. But if sweet is your thing, you'll probably like this pizza. The crust was thin and made with corn meal. It is flavorful, but again, over-powered by not only the sweet sauce, but the weight of the sauce itself. The inner part of the pizza falls apart when you lift the slice. Go with slightly less sauce. Overall, a good pizza. The white pizza was good as well. You pick up the garlic and salt and it all blends well with the crust. The broccoli did not taste fresh, rather tasted as if it were frozen, or over cooked. I can't be certain. Having read rave reviews about Penny's, I was a little disappointed. I do think they have solid pies but I have had far better. Penny's does not deliver and there is no dining area, take-out only. They do have soda's available. The hours are very limited, Thursday - Sunday from 3-9pm. The prices are more than reasonable. You would think a pizza only shop, so focused on a few items would be a stand-out. It is tasteful but not really unique. Although I can understand the higher ratings based on limited selection in this area. Put Penny's in downtown Philly or anywhere in NYC, and well, it just wouldn't fare well. I think the Pottstown/Limerick area has fairly low standards so it's not hard to impress people. I agree with the first reviewer, Penny's has a legacy following but I question their taste buds. When I was picking up my order, I was the only person out of 5 that was under 60. I'm just saying... The best pizza I have had is Giovanni's, then Rossi's. But they are a different, more traditional Italian than this style. So the comparison may not be fair. One last thing. I've said this before as well. If you are going to have a website and a Facebook page, update it or at least remove the old dated info. IF YOU FOUND THIS REVIEW HELPFUL, PLEASE RATE IT AND SEND ME A COMMENT.

Not your typical pizza. Be prepared for a change! When I first laid eyes on Penny's Pizza I became disoriented....THIS? This is not like the others. This looks like it has no cheese. This is soggy. This sauce is different...too sweet. Then I started having flashbacks to my childhood. I remembered eating homemade pizza sitting in front of the tv watching Bonanza. Then I realized I LOVED this pie! It is fabulously different and it's own. The sauce is on top of the cheese. The sauce is overpowering and distinct. The cheese is not bland like most pizza's offer. The crust quickly becomes soggy from all the sauce, so forget about waltzing around holding a folded piece. Sit down and eat it. It is like no other. Penny's Pizza is run out of a home that sits on Ridge Pike in Collegeville. No delivery. No seating. NOTHING BUT PIZZA comes out of that joint. It is a serious pizza place! Love it.

HORRIBLE STROMBOLI! Crust was like a limp cracker (bland and undercooked), insides were warm at best and where the heck is the cheese?! TERRIBLE!

Penny's is somewhat of a local legend around here, so we thought we'd give it a try. The sauce was tasty, although sweeter then we usually prefer. The crust was thin and had good flavor, with corn meal on the bottom. What we didn't like: The meat toppings were very sparse and without much flavor. There was very little cheese, and at least 2X too much sauce. The crust was thin, and thus soggy from the sauce. If you like pizza that is more like a warm, thin, tomato pie, then this is for you; we personaly will not be going back.

It took about three weeks until I could even get through (all the old-timers getting a fix again.) Essentially, it is very close to what it used to be (cornmeal on the crust, which is , of course, not traditional Italian pizza, but popular in the Norristown area for some reason. I agree that it does not re-heat well, and with no seating, I was not surprised to see entire vans of people in the parking lot with stacks of boxes consuming them on the spot. The sauce was actually LESS sweet than I remember it, and certainly less sweet than Franzones now is. The cheese was close to the old blend (mostly white American if I am not mistaken) but seemed to lack a little of the old tang. It has been a few weeks, so I'm not sure if they are still as overwhelmed as they were the first month of re-opening. I called at 3:30 to place my order (they open at 4:00 officially) and was told 30 minutes for a pizza but an hour and a half for a stromboli. I skipped the stromboli. So in sum, if you liked the old Penny's you'll still like the re-opened one. If you don't like this style of pizza (and granted, not everyone does) then just don't eat it. Rudely condemning a style of food that many others enjoy does not make you a connoisseur.

What a bummer that this place closed. I remember as a kid getting penny's pizza was a treat. Really thin and hard crust, sweet chunky tomato sauce and fresh cheese. IIRC, they put the cheese on first then the sauce on top. Very unique way of making pizza. In general, you'd wait anywhere from 45min to 1.5hrs to get a pie depending on the night. The owner I guess decided they had enough of making pies and sold to someone else. Amato's I believe is the name. Well., they too are now gone. Which is fine because they were garbage. Someone please bring back Penny's!!! I want a slice of their pizza so bad.

This is not traditional Italian style pizza. The crust is cornmeal, the sauce is on top of the cheese. The sauce is also homemade and sweet. I drive from Boyertown at least twice a month and my brother drives from Reading because there is nothing like it anywhere. Keep your mind open to something different & wonderful! This is my FAVORITE PIZZA IN THE WORLD.

They are back, great pizza just like you remembered. Sauce is on top of the cheese here. Only open Thurs - Sun 3p - 9p call early there will be a wait involved, I couldn't get thru on the phone I stopped at 3:15 on Thur ordered 2 pizzas they told me to come back in an hour for pick up. Maybe it'll quiet down after the hype of reopening, there is a lot of unorganized help moving in no particular direction. One pizza sitting for awhile the other just out of the oven. Still a good pizza, no eat in here pick up only. Got to try the stromboli next time I remember that was really good too.

Best Pizza in the Limerick/Royersford area. I moved to the area about 2 years ago and had driven past but never tried it. After seeing it in Philadelphia Magazine best pizza issue I had to give it a try. Now it is only open Thurs-Sun and the first time I tried to order they were on vacation. I was finally able to try it this weekend and after doing so the only thing I hate is that they don't deliver and are only open on thurs-sun. The pizza was great. The crust was amazing ( gotcornmeal.com is their site if that gives you any clue) and the sauce was sweet but not overpowering. I had extra cheese extra sauce (thats the way I roll, and I don't want to hear any BS about how I eat my pizza). Looking forward to trying their lasagna and if it is anywhere near what their pizza is, the Mrs and I will be in for a treat. From King Of Prussia to Reading I haven't found a pizza that can compare to this. Well worth going to pick up.

Michelle, if they come back, trust me, Ill be the first in line. I have a sleeping bag and pup tent in the trunk waiting and ready to go. How a Mennonite family learned how to make the best pizza in this area is beyond me. My best guess is that they somehow stole Danny's and Franzone's pizza recipes. Danny's was a longtime institution in Norristown before he closed and moved to FLA full time and Franzone's is still going strong in Bridgeport. Penny's makes their pizza the same exact way (as does Mack & Manco in OC, NJ) REAL cheese first, then the sauce. Their crust is a bit different and the sauce is sweeter than the aforementioned Danny's and Franzone's but is closer and more convenient. As I mentioned in my review for M&M, we actually drive to OC just to get a pie made like this. Kudo's if they come back.
