I've been here a few times since they opened earlier this year, and I actually just enjoyed a big Sunday breakfast there yesterday. I've yet to try their lunch, but I absolutely love their breakfast/brunch and highly recommend that if you're in the area, you forgo IHOP and Eat 'n' Park in favor of this place. Sharing some connections with the chef and owner of Out of the Fire out in Donegal (I believe Out of the Fire's chef's son runs this new place), this little restaurant, tucked into one of the side streets off of the Diamond in Ligonier, is the perfect place for a quiet morning meal. Decorated in soft colors, with the kitchen area open at the back (you can sit at the bar and watch the staff cook!), this restaurant is cozy and exactly what you'd want in a breakfast place. They pride themselves on delicious flavor combinations and their various homemade creations (including jams, sausages, and pancakes). You're not going to find a generic "pick a breakfast combo" here, but rather a handful of well-crafted, well-balanced dishes. There's a selection of omelets (the Molly Mac, with portabella mushrooms, spinach, tomatoes, and feta is fabulous!) and variations on Eggs Benedict (the Farmer, with smoked tomato hollandaise, is unique and tasty), plus some pancake dishes, breakfast tacos, a breakfast sandwich, egg breakfast options, and salmon hash. A collection of sides, a small kids menu, and bagels complete the menu. They serve homemade jam with their toast (white, wheat, rye, or sourdough), and the flavors change occasionally...I've tried blackberry peach (classic, yet a little unexpected) and pear-ginger-brandy (tastes like the holidays!), and I've heard about the carrot cake jam. Their homemade sausage (spicy or maple) comes in lump form patties rather than links, and it's delicious with their egg dishes. Their homefries are flecked with tiny pieces of red bell pepper and are perfectly seasoned. Each dish is reasonably priced and you get a lot of food for your money, which is great. The dining space is small, so it gets crowded on the weekends--as far as I know, they don't take reservations, but if you get there and have to wait, there are loads of cute antique shops and boutiques to stop by to pass the time. It can get chilly near the front door during the winter months, but they have space heaters to help fight the chill. It's BYOB here: they provide the mixer (a basket of ingredients to make the perfect Bloody Mary, orange juice for mimosas, etc.), so be sure to bring your own alcohol along if you're craving something more than a cup of coffee or glass of milk. Parking can be found on the street. From what I've seen and heard, their lunch is great, and I've heard they're planning to start offering dinner later this year. So far, they're doing a great job--delicious food, friendly waitstaff, and great atmosphere. I highly recommend dropping by for a family breakfast, lunch with friends, or a brunch date, and, while you're there, be sure to check out the shops around the Diamond--it's a great area!

Absolutely delicious! We stopped here after snowshoeing at the recommendation of a fellow traveller (we're here from the South Hills of Pittsburgh). The place is stylish, without being pretentious. The owner is very active, present, and involved. Incredibly sweet. Service was excellent. We both had the tomato bisque with grilled cheese -smoked gouda, mozzarella, applewood smoked bacon.... Was excellent. About to have the Streudel and Cheesecake. Highly recommend this place. We will return!!

Nice, new place in Ligonier. Great tuna tacos and steak sandwich. Skip the extra chicken with any salads though, unless you enjoy a dry, reheated piece of meat. Also watch out for the parking ticket police. Parked right in front, went inside together change for the meter, and when I came out, there was already a ticket only car! The woman said she did not notice helping my 90 year old Mom, and my 91 year old Step Father from the car into the restaurant. Yeah, I believe that one. What a Way to encourage people coming back to support these businesses.

I just went on a trip out to Ohio, and was telling my friend about the places we ate. My friend who lives in Ligonier said well, we should go to Kitchen on Main then. They have really good food. He had had the shrimp tacos last time, and recommended them. I like shrimp tacos, but the Ham and Brie sandwich caught my eye. I asked the waitress what she recommended between the two, and she said the Ham and Brie was her favorite sandwich they made. I didn't go wrong, it was really good. He got the crab cake sandwich, which he said was very good. Both sandwiches came with sweet potato fries which were also very good. I've seen some other Yelp reviews saying the place is kind of pricey, but I thought it wasn't, especially for the quality. My sandwich with fries was $10, which is very reasonable. I mean sure, you can go to King's and get a ham sandwich and fries for $7, but it's not going to be anywhere near as good as the one I got. I suppose the only thing negative I could say about the place is that he brought his 7 year old daughter, and they did have a kids menu, which was nice, but she got a cheeseburger, and they put it on a fancy bun with black seeds (poppyseeds I assumed), and she wouldn't eat it. I'm sure it tasted great, but she didn't even want to try it. So she was stuck eating just french fries. So maybe leave the kids at home if they aren't adventurous eaters. The restaurant is small, but it has a nice atmosphere, and would be a great place to go with either friends, or on a date.

A friend and I met at The Kitchen on Main for breakfast recently and we were both very pleased. I had the breakfast tacos with chorizo sausage, egg and avocado. It was a fresh, delicious breakfast option. My friend had the breakfast pizza with an easy over egg. She loved it. I'm delighted to have found this little treasure in Ligonier. I've signed up for one of their upcoming cooking classes in October -- I've heard that they are great.

Great place to get lunch in Ligonier. We were able to walk from our hotel, and passed quite a few other places that looked good, but we did our research beforehand and saw that this place had gotten good reviews. We were pretty happy with our choice. We ordered the Ham and Brie Sandwich, and the Roasted Red Beet Salad. Both were delicious. I had been worried that the apples on the sandwich would be too thick and make the sandwich difficult to eat, but they were perfectly sliced, and were great quality. The apple cider reduction dressing was a great complement to the sandwich, but it made eating quite messy. Another bonus of the meal was that the sweet potato fries served with the sandwich actually tasted like sweet potatoes - they clearly hadn't drowned in a great vat of oil. Very refreshing. The only thing holding back this place from a 4 star review is the service. The food came out of the kitchen pretty quickly, but our server pretty much forgot about us after that. No one checked on us after we got our food, and we weren't even sure who we were supposed to ask, because a different people led us to our table, took our order, and delivered our food. All three were servicing other sections of the restaurant as well, so it seemed like no one really had a claim on our table. We had to go seek out someone to get a drink refill, and eventually our check. It wasn't something that would discourage me from going again, it was just an inconvenience that I didn't appreciate.

We trusted our Yelp reviewers and tried Kitchen on Main for lunch. Hubby and I shared a bowl of the Tomato Basil Soup. Hubby looked at me and we both said "the best tomato soup of our lives!" We bought s quart to take home! Ham and Brie: GREAT. Prime Rib burger: AMAZING. Service: OUTSTANDING! Can only imagine breakfast and dinner! Will take a detour here on next trip to Pittsburgh!

The food is fresh and delicious! The service was great as well. You could tell they were a little busy but the server didn't show any type of frustration or struggle. Very upbeat and happy to be there. I had the Smokey Benedict and holy smokes amazing! Salmon was cooked perfectly, the hollandaise was perfection and the home fries, wonderful. My man got the Banana Walnut Pancakes and they are like dessert on a plate. Twice the size of his face! Haha, the pancakes are definitely meant for two or take home for an afternoon snake. The bananas and cinnamon whip cream, oh my gosh, so good. I highly recommend trying this place. I will be back :)

Great spot to have B-fast or lunch. Sign said they will be serving dinner starting in September. Cash Only! Some very interesting items on the B-fast menu. The pancakes are some of the best I have ever tasted. The Kitchen Tacos have scrambled eggs, chorizo, pepperjack cheese, avocado and fresh made salsa was delicious. Fresh squeezed orange and grapefruit juice, too.

Had a great first experience here while visiting some friends in Johnstown. I ordered the Molly Mac omelet (mushroom, spinach, feta, and tomatoes), and it was terrific. Very tasty and fresh. The homemade strawberry jam was delicious too. Very attentive, friendly service. My only complaint is that they don't serve pancakes all day during breakfast hours (8-3 Sat & Sun). They actually stop at 11. Now, if you're going to have specific limited breakfast hours, I think you should serve all of the items on that menu during that time. This also isn't mentioned on the menu anywhere. I guess you just have to know it. Anyway, that's my only gripe. Great little spot otherwise.

Good food, a hearty portion and a good breakfast stop in Ligonier. I have been to their sister restaurant countless amount of times when i am in the area. This was my first time trying the kitchen. The decor is beautiful, i like the open kitchen and my pancake breakfast was very good. One thing is for sure they dont skimp you on portions.

The reviews were right on! This place is a gem! I had a beet salad with salmon and it was perfection! My guest had a burger and, as far as burgers go, it was a really good burger! I will return every time I'm in the area! Good coffee too.

I ate here this morning with my girlfriend and her parents for brunch. The inside of the restaurant was a lot nicer than I had been expecting with beautiful hardwood floors, some tables and booths and a stone bar that overlooked the open kitchen. Since I had a big breakfast earlier in the morning I decided to go fairly light for lunch and ordered the sesame ahi tuna salad while my girlfriend went with the Scottish salmon salad. She thought it was delicious and really enjoyed the mozzarella, tomatoes and crispy chickpeas on it. My ahi salad was to come with citrus sections, watercress, spiced cashews, pickled carrots and a wasabi soy vinegarette. My tuna was cooked nicely, tasted good and I loved sweetness of my dressing. What I did find as odd was that the citrus sections seemed to be grapefruit. Now don't get me wrong, I enjoy grapefruit by itself and do think the salad needed a little acidity, but this was not the right pairing for me. The grapefruit was so sour and overpowering that it did not play nicely with the delicate dressing and salad. Maybe something like an orange that would have been a little sweeter was in order. I still did enjoy the salad though and hope that the grapefruit is not the normal citrus on the salad. Also during lunch, some of the sweet potato fries on my girlfriends dads plate were calling my name due to the flakes of sea salt that I could see. Normally I do not like sweet potato fries but these were delicious as they were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and had the perfect amount of salt. The bottom line for me is that I would like to head back here in the future and hopefully get its rating up. It had great potential and I enjoyed most of my meal.

Best place to eat in Ligonier by far! Great addition. Food--particularly their fish and steak--is spot on. These guys do nouveau Americana: simple dishes, but with fresh ingredients and a good cook. Good place to head out with the family. Also, the only restaurant in Ligonier with anything like a "cool" vibe going on. There decor is pretty open and modern, which is a nice change of pace compared to the other places in town.

We've heard great things about this place from family and friends, all who live at least an hour away. When we found ourselves hungry in Ligonier, we had to come, and we were not disappointed! The food was delicious, fresh and healthy, and the restaurant was modern and inviting. Pro tip: BYOB or wine as they don't have a liquor license.

Fantastic place to dine in Ligonier! From the ambiance of sophisticated country home to the delicious food, we had a great experience dining here. The food was delicious and cheaply priced by our standards. The chicken sandwich with smoked mozzarella came with wonderful tomato aioli sauce and sweetened balsamic, which were incredible. The sweet potato fries here are by far the best that I have ever tasted out of many places I have had them. The atmosphere is wonderful, too, it is laidback and family friendly while not being cheap. Service was excellent as well. Had to write this first review to emphasize how great this place is.

I stayed in Ligonier for a week and wish I had heard about this excellent little place in the beginning. My last morning there I was very glad to find it. Good restaurant choices in Ligonier are limited, and I very much hope The Kitchen makes it. The inside is inviting, bright, and clean. Great variety of menu choices - I included a photo of the breakfast menu. I had the "Farmer's" Eggs Benedict - delicious (see photo)! And the breakfast potatoes were some of the best I have EVER eaten anywhere. Actually having something with avocado and asparagus and spinach and potatoes made me feel healthy. Service was good/friendly. Be warned that they only take cash - that would be my only complaint - they should take cards. Yes, there is an ATM right across the street, but you have to pay a fee to get your own money out.

My husband and I attended a wedding at Green Gables on April 20 and decided to check this place out for breakfast the morning after the wedding. The place is not that big so be sure to get their early or prepare for a bit of a wait, which will be totally worth it! My husband and I, along with a friend and the bride and groom were seated right away at a large booth. For breakfast I ordered the Candied Walnut and Banana pancakes. They were seriously to die for. The bananas were cooked in a rum sauce and tasted just like bananas foster. The candied walnuts were sweet and crunchy and a perfect topping to these pancakes. I finished the entire plate!! My husband had the smoked salmon hash, our friend had the breakfast tacos, the bride had an egg sandwich and I cannot remember what the groom had, so sorry! However, everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. I would definitely suggest this place for anyone visiting the area!

I had lunch here on Sunday with my family. We were able to get a table outside. Everything on the menu sounded delicious. I got the ham and brie sandwich, and I was definitely happy with my decision. The apples and the arugula were a nice touch on the sandwich. Their lunch prices are pretty reasonable; $10 for my sandwich and some sweet potato fries. Everybody had something different, and everybody cleared their plate! Delicious! I would definitely come back here on my next trip to ligonier.

My brother and I rode our motorcycles an hour and a half to try this place out and boy was it worth it. We ate breakfast including a breakfast sandwich, home fries, eggs, and smoked salmon hash. This is not your average breakfast. This is a taste treat. Smoked salmon hash...if you like smoked salmon this is the way to eat it. Home fries that are not just potatoes fried in butter but instead make you craving for another serving. A breakfast sandwich that includes avocados. I've traveled all over the country and have never seen such a unique selection. The service was excellent, the restaurant and restrooms were spotless, and there was outside dining. Two things stopped me from rating this 5 stars. First, I ordered eggs over easy and they came back between over medium and over hard. With all of the great care put into the recipes, the simplest item should have been done right. The second is that the coffee was okay...I prefer the coffee to be more robust. But that won't stop me from coming back again, they were minor issues compared to the excellent breakfast menu and service.

I had my second bad experience in the past year at the Kitchen on Main. During my first visit about 9 months ago, the service was incredibly slow. The food was OK but it took FOREVER. The manager ended up taking 20% off the check. I took my mother there yesterday for her birthday (this was my second visit). The service was very slow again but not as bad as the first time. However, this time the food was hit or miss. Two of the dishes we got were good. The other two were not. The salads are tasty but VERY SMALL and cost way too much for the size. I will not go back again.

Finally found a place where dogs are allowed when I'm sitting outside. The servers were friendly and immediately welcomed us. Came here for lunch based on positive Yelp reviews. I was not disappointed, as it was probably the best all-around dining experience I had on my recent weeklong vacation. I enjoyed a Main Melt with Parmesan herb fries, both of which were delicious. Service was friendly and efficient. Love the open, spotlessly clean kitchen and the casual decor was nice as well. It can get a bit spendy if you go for the higher-priced items - my burger and fries was $15, for example - but well worth the extra few bucks.

The Kitchen on Main (Street) in Ligonier was recommended to me by the folks at Valley School as being the best place in the area for lunch. They knew from what they spoke. This is a warmly decorated, large front windowed, long countered, open kitchened, and French-feelinged, restaurant where daily creativity is on the menu. They erected a half glass wall between the patrons at the counter and the hot stove within touching distance, just so the urge to reach out and grab a hot skillet would be stymied. But, it does not inhibit the salivary reaction to all the great things going on behind the glass. I ate my very enjoyable lunch special Fish and Chips and a cup of Onion Soup Gratinee, as they were preparing the Roast Fingerling Potatoes for dinner. I had first hand experience of why that wall was installed. The service was great, friendly and informative. The people there obviously enjoyed their work. My meal was very good. The Cod had a light herbed shell that easily broke apart when picked up with fork. They had an interesting spicy Tartar Sauce, and when asked, they gave me a small dish of Balsamic Vinegar for dipping, as I prefer that to the mayo and relish I was expecting. I used both and even mixed them together. Both were fine. This was not an inexpensive repast, as I dropped about $20 with the tip. Still, for a meal that good, in a town this historic and attractive, on a vacation weekend....What the hey?! I would do it again, and probably will.

Oh my. Another unexpected find. The burrata and heirloom tomato salad was spectacular! Perfectly spiced and fresh. Perfect weather and seating on the sidewalk and around the building left plenty of room to enjoy it. It would be tough to make a suggestion so they have to get five stars. If you aren't going to Ligonier but even passing by, stop there. It's worth it.

Oh my god this place is good. I was in town for work and hadn't ate at all that day. Yelp really came through on this one. The main melt is one of the top 10 burgers I have ever had in my life (no joke). Next time I'm in town or within 20 miles i will stop by again and hopefully for breakfast. This place is that good!

We were in town for the National Park Memorial service for Flight 93. Being that this is a rural area we did not know where to eat. We were told to try "The Kitchen on Main" WOW, were we pleasantly surprise. The food was so delicious. If you are driving through Lignoier PA you must STOP here.

The first place we visited on a weekend get away and decidedly the best restaurant in town! The meal started with soups. Warm, hearty and so flavorful; he had the tomato basil and I had the Tuscan chicken. Perfect on a cold winter day. The lunch entrees were salmon burger with the sweet potato fries, and the pear salad with grilled chicken added (sorry, I forgot the names of dishes on the menu). We were both very pleased with the wonderful tastes and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The atmosphere and service were both great - we sat at the table near the hostess station next to the sweet little mini fireplace heater. We loved it here and will definitely visit again! Don't waste time deciding where to eat, just go to the Kitchen on Main. You won't be disappointed!

Eating at this restaurant is a wonderful experience. Our most recent visit was for an early dinner on a Friday. We were able to get a reservation on short notice and when we decided that we would like to eat at an outside table instead of in a booth that was reserved for us, the staff was happy to accommodate us. We were the only party eating outside and the service was excellent. For this visit, we were three adults and a toddler. We requested that our toddler's dish be brought as soon as possible and the order was pushed through quickly. Our salads were bright and beautiful and lightly dressed. Our entrees were equally beautifully plated and delicious. I had the Roasted Mahi Mahi Tacos with roasted corn and avocado guacamole that were outstanding. My daughter had Honey Chili Glazed Yellow Fin Tuna which she said was excellent. My husband ordered the special of the day, Crusted Halibut served on Sweet Potato puree that he loved even though he doesn't normally like sweet potatoes. The Parmesan Herb Fries are a must-order. You get a huge bowl of fries with a generous sprinkling of herb infused parmesan cheese. From where we live it is over an hour's drive to Ligonier, but so worth it to eat at the Kitchen on Main. We would recommend it to highly.

So yummy. We came in on Mother's Day on our way through Lingonier from Bedford Springs. The menu is small but has a wonderful selection of high quality and tasteful items. We were worried about the wait but in 10 minutes Terri had us seated and was getting us drinks. Highly recommend this delightful restaurant.

Good food. But doesn't deserve 5 stars. For my first dinner here: salad plus salmon entree plus tip was $38. Both good. On my second visit, I had the hummus and olive appetizer - wow! I recommend it - I loved the warm olives. Getting a table here, the conversation both times has been somewhat unwelcoming. I was told something like "You don't have a reservation? You could sit at the counter. ... Or if you promise to be quick, we can seat you at a table, but that table is reserved at 8". Their desserts are overcomplicated. Most of them come with caramel sauce. For example, the menu lists "Roasted Apple & Brie Strudel with candied Walnut Caramel Sauce & Vanilla Bean Ice Cream". If it had been apple strudel with optional ice cream I would have ordered it (without the ice cream), but caramel sauce is just too much.

Excellent food and service. Reg and Farmers Egg Benedict (and the hash browns that came with) delicious. Breakfast Pizza very good. Ham and brie sandwich outstanding. Love that Yelp helps you find great places even in the middle of nowhere.

Fantastic atmosphere, with an open kitchen where you can watch the chef's make many dishes. Really good food! Fun atmosphere. Great for a date or meeting up with friends.

I love this place! I've been here multiple times for dinner and once for the Saturday lunch. My last visit was about 3 months ago and it was phenomenal! For the appetizer, I had the Roasted Butternut Squash hummus with heavenly flatbreads that tied the dish together and I actually ended up getting extra. My main dish was actually quite small, but it was perfect. I had the Organic Pulled Chicken Rigatoni and it was amazing! For the service, they were very pleasant. I've never been there on an extremely busy Saturday night, but I've always been seated quickly and I've never had a bad experience!

The Kitchen is a great place to eat for all meals. In fact, it is the only restaurant of its kind in the area, meaning the food is fresh and time was put into creating it. I had the mushroom ravioli which was phenomenal, and the portion was perfect. The setting is cozy and casual, but the menu is unique and staff has etiquette of a top- shelf restaurant. The place is also BYOB, which is a nice touch because it keeps the overall meal price lower. I highly recommend it to anyone passing through route 30!

The reviews were right on! This place is a gem! I had a beet salad with salmon and it was perfection! My guest had a burger and, as far as burgers go, it was a really good burger! I will return every time I'm in the area! Good coffee too.

Finally found a place where dogs are allowed when I'm sitting outside. The servers were friendly and immediately welcomed us. We had the ham and Brie with sliced apples, Benedict, and house salad. It was all AMAZING. Don't cut yourself short on the sweet potato fries either. Crunchy, lightly salted, delicious.

Exceptional food and service. We stopped in for Saturday lunch and had a variety of delicious selections. I can strongly suggest the house-smoked salmon in/on anything you may choose. We shall gladly return. We hear the Sat/Sun breakfast is excellent, particularly the pancakes!
