I came here during some of the last weekends I had in Pennsylvania, craving a yummy, buttery soft pretzel. This place is a tourist trap. But then again, isn't most of Lancaster's Amish country? I was excited to try this one because we had never bothered to venture from Immergut. We ordered an original soft pretzel at $2.50. This is expensive for this area, and Auntie Annes is cheaper (at least when I got it last on the turnpike). Sadly, the chain pretzels from the mall are much better. This tasted like a stale super pretzel, which was really sad as I actually watched them make it. They were small, bland, and overly salted. A real disappointment (which was muttered by a few others at a nearby table as well who also came here as a second since Immergut was closed February). They sell a bunch of pre-packaged pretzels as well. Many of them look like the exact same ones at all the other stores around the country in Lititz and such. We skipped the tour (peeked back, but I mean, meh, I'm more about the food, not the tour). To top it off, they were pretty unfriendly. Just not worth the drive out to Amish country. Might be cute if you have kids, though.

We just bought a bag of hard pretzel. Best before dated 02/15. I believe it's February 2015. However, it tastes like it was best before 2002. It tastes rancid. Soft pretzels are not any better either.

Delicious soft and hard pretzels. Stopped here and had a plain soft with three kinds of mustard, and a really scrumptious cinnamon brown sugar soft pretzel. The latter was great on its own and great with honey mustard, too. I am not much of a fan of hard pretzels, but my daughter got a bag of honey mustard pretzel pieces and it was the best I have had. I turned around and got another pound. The honey and mustard was perfectly balanced and the pretzel had a nice texture. Went to more places in Lancaster, but not nearly as good. Plus this shop is in a charming location.

Not the best tasting pretzels but that is besides the point. You get to learn to make them for free, now that is pretty amazing. We came just in time for the course along with about 10 others, you see a few people working in the background and in instructor showing you what they do and how to make them yourself. They have samples of their 3 flavors, cheese, herb and plain, all 3 are pretty good but being German I have had better. They have 4 flavors of soft pretzels, again cheese, herb, plain but also cinnamon sugar which we got. It was almost $4 which I find very steep but since the place was nice and filled with the aroma of freshly bakes pretzels we could not resist. Again, it was good, but not the best I have had and fairly small (about half the size of a german pretzel) Still a unique and fun experience for the whole family to enjoy

Went to get some delicious pretzels for a family brunch. Canemount disappointed. They have a lot of prepackaged pretzels, the kind you can find in a grocery store, hanging around on the walls. But I was looking for a delicious, chewy supplement to our breakfast. They had a small warming case near the register with two different types of pretzels: plain and brown sugar. I was hoping for a vast plethora of choices in this, A Pretzel Factory. But no. I had one on the way home and meh, it was okay. I kept thinking to myself, this is the product of the Pretzel Factory? A factory should spend all of its time putting out amazing product! But these pretzels just weren't singing to me. When I got home the kids and wife had theirs and said they were okay but wondered why I had left so long to get a bag full of 'meh pretzels'. Tomorrow I try the other place...

I hardly call this a "factory". More like a basic pretzel retail store with pretzels. Avoid and go someplace else less commercial.

Spent some time learning to make my own pretzels and learned that this would not be a good career move. It was interesting to watch and learn. Unfortunately, there were no workers to observe other then our guide during our visit. Afterwards, we took the time to check out the store and taste a hot pretzel. Though it was pretty good, it was on the expensive side like everything else. This is to be expected as I'm sure the customer base is almost exclusively tourists.

While I thought that the pretzels here were just OK (not really a hard pretzel fan in general), the fun experience of being able to tour the back kitchen and learn how to become a pretzel twister was really unique and interesting. Definitely something to check out for fun while you are here, and they have a lot of inexpensive snack things in the front of the shop to buy to take home or give as gifts (as I intend to). One thing that particularly piqued my interest is that they have a large selection of cake/cupcake sprinkles and decorations, which only ranged from $1-$3 for a whole container. That is dirt cheap in comparison to those craft stores or regular grocery stores anywhere else. They have lots of fun colors and textures, as well as the holiday themes and other cool stuff.

Went to this place this morning in a charming little area of town and five mins into the tour/presentation in the back room, one of the pretzel-makers sneezed into her bare hand and continued making the pretzels, which were part of the inventory (not just for show). Our family walked out, disgusted, and told the two middle-aged women in charge, who offered little more than "Usually, they wash their hands!" I couldn't believe their reaction and rudeness. So, we left. Skip this place. Just not worth it.

One of the main reasons for my recent trip to Lancaster County, PA? To see pretzel factories! And how could you not visit one of the most "famous" of them all in one of the silliest towns ever named: Yes, I speak of Intercourse! I visited this place on Sat. 20 July 2013 & attended a free pretzel factory tour. The guide explained that due to the heat, no pretzels were being made that day so we didn't get to see the machinery in action. But she did give us a lot of background on pretzels & we all got a small piece of dough that we twisted into a pretzel & at the end, we received an "Official Pretzel Twister" sticker. I did buy quite a few items in the shop, including 2 bags of hard pretzels (one brown butter, one extra salt) & 2 soft hot pretzels (one plain salted & one with cinnamon & sugar). Surprisingly, the plain hot pretzel was not very good at all. From the web site to the brochures touting these pretzels as IT, I was quite let down. Now, the cinnamon & sugar one, on the other hand ... This one WAS it! Super tasty & delicious. Just a few other notes, before I end my review ... This place is located in a very busy strip of Old Philadelphia Pike - be prepared for lots of traffic including horse-drawn Amish buggies - & lots of tourists & tour buses. Luckily, there was a private lot to park in so parking was not an issue. And lastly, they DO sell chocolate-covered pretzels (made with Wilbur chocolate - the only other place you can get this chocolate is in Wilbur's Lititz, PA store).

I went here at least 10 years ago... on a field trip. It was pretty amazing. I've always liked pretzels anyway... but it was definitely fun. Although, I don't know if it was something that they planned... but I guess it probably was. We were way too young to understand the "intercourse" joke... so yeah... I remember making the pretzels... which did make for some interesting pictures and was typically just a lot of fun! Also, I did get one of those stickers (as pictured) and I remember the pretzel was pretty good...since it was fresh off the line.

The tours a joke....The pretzle tastes like my 5 year old made it on the tour

If driving along Lancaster County.... then this is a great stop, and it is free, plus the pretzels are quite tasty. I liked learning to roll my own pretzel, and got kinda good at it after a few tries. Makes for memorable photos. Plus... this place is in Intercourse, PA.... come on... take some photos, send a postcard... your friends will enjoy some grins too.

We made a special trip just to go here thinking the kids would enjoy it. But frankly, it's a bit out of the way for only 15 minutes of entertainment. There's a nice little antique shoppe next door, but you can't really take children in there. I don't think this place was worth the trip. And the pretzels weren't really all that great. The amish pretzels at Reading Terminal Market in Philly or just your good ole' Auntie Anne's are much better.

This small Mennonite owned and operated factory cranks out some DELICIOUS pretzels. They offer a free factory tour where they show you just how they hand roll these yummy treats and even give you a chance to try rolling your own pretzel. They have hard pretzels in a few different flavors; salt, brown butter, cheese and herb. I love the brown butter ones and if you keep them in a tin they will last a long time. When you visit the factory try the soft pretzels too, they don't travel well as they will only be soft and fresh for one day, but they are a very nice snack. I LOVE the brown butter sugar spice variety (a soft pretzel brushed with brown butter and coated with cinnamon and sanding sugar) with a cold glass of their fresh squeezed lemonade. They use local products in their pretzels which is great and it helps to keep their prices nice and low, so it is easy to snack happily.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!! Order pretzels for a friend's birthday. The pretzels arrived broken. Contacted the owner, Donna, to request a refund, a credit or replacements for the broken ones. To begin with these are overpriced plus I had to pay priority shipping of $20 since she claimed that the chocolate pretzels would melt. No problems with the chocolate pretzels just that the others arrived broken and in crumbs. It was packed well, so the pretzels had to have left the store damaged. The owner was very defensive and told me I was the first complaint of 2012-looking at this website, that was not true. She was rude and did not offer any options for the damaged product. As other clients mentioned, the taste (WHAT TASTE) was not worth it. KEEP YOUR MONEY AND SHOP ELSEWHERE. Ms Donna doesn't appreciate your business.

When we heard that you can make your own pretzels we thought it would be fun for the kids. We first went into another pretzel shop on the same street just down further and they pointed us in the direction to this place. You cannot eat the pretzels you make which is a bummer. The staff that helped us was very rude. She slammed our pretzels on the counter and when I asked my family if anybody wanted cheese she glared at me as though she wanted to ring my neck. I thought maybe it was in my head but when we sat down to eat people in my group asked what I did to make her so mad. All I did was order pretzels. I wish I stayed at the other pretzel shop, they were very kinds and I am sure the pretzels would taste better!

If you're looking for GOOD soft pretzels in Amish country-this is not the place to find them. I was hear about 10 years ago and remember it being much better. No stuffed or topped pretzels just plain and cinnamon sugar. There is a tour of the factory but it's really not to impressive. Save your $$ and don't bother with this place.

Eh, pretzels weren't even that great. I got a regular one with salt, and it was hard. The lemonade was also watered down. We went on the 'tour,' but we were just taught how to twist. Overrated.

I purchased a $95.00 Christmas gift from this business for my brother's family. I heard much later from another family member that the pretzels had stale, broken, and tasted terrible (with the exception of a few). I was mortified, and embarrassed that my gift had been awful, and I had not known. When I called the business to share the feedback, the owner answered. She was unfriendly, and rushed me off the phone, and told me she would have to call me back because she had other customers waiting. Although she did return my calI, I found her bedside manner to be defensive, and disbelieving. She told me that she wanted to call my family members. I asked her not to, as I had only called to share the feedback, and was not asking for a refund. I will never purchase from this business again. Let the buyer beware.

Not a huge fan. The pretzels are ok but overpriced. A bit of a tourist trap. I would recommend Immergut's, just across the street about a block or two west.

This is a nice spot to hit on a tour of all the yummy things Intercourse, PA has to offer. There are lots of pre-packaged pretzels - both savory and sweet - and baking goods, such as homemade pastas, candies, herb mixes and meat rubs. There is a smaller selection of fresh, hot pretzels than I imagined there would be, and just three options: regular salted, brown butter, and cinnamon sugar. We liked our pretzel sampling (we went for brown butter pretzels as those were the recommended ones according to the sales gal). They are nice and fluffy, stout, and a little on the small side for $2.50. The tour is worth doing for the experience, but don't be expected to be blown away. In the back room where the tour takes place, we saw three workers. One young, high-school aged looking boy gave the tour (really a misnomer - it is more like a presentation) while two young ladies made the pretzels in the background. The presenter had a lot of information to give in the roughly 10-15 minute tour, but he totally rushed through it all. It was really difficult to understand what he was saying. I felt bad for the kid because public speaking didn't really seem to be his thing, and several people left the tour before the best part - making your own pretzel twist! I am such a kid and got a kick out of rolling out my little portioned pat of dough and making it into a pretzel. And I loved that I got a sticker at the end (which I graciously put on my infant daughter to make her feel included). Anyway, the tour is free, so worth seeing, but overall the experience was just fine.
