This is what Indiana, PA had been waiting for. Fresh Mediterranean cuisine with excellent service. I've been here many times and I'm always pleased. First of all I love the fact that the chef always provides a complimentary tasting after you order you meal. I've had prosciutto wrapped apricots and tuna bites. They are always a small explosion of flavor that gets you excited for the main meal. My favorite starter is the spinach and feta pie. They put all the ingredients in a small cast iron pan and something happens to the phyllo dough that makes it like a puffy but not gooey cloud with a crisp. Chilean sea bass is my favorite fish so I am happy it's on the menu. The other night I tried the Turkish lamb and I just thought it was so tender and yummy. Lastly, I can't gush enough about the creme brulee trio. It leaves absolutely nothing to be desired. Vanilla, strawberry and chocolate custard with a crispy sugar shell and fresh fruit-what's not to love?!

I was in Indiana on business looking for a good dinner spot and saw Taze's ranking on TripAdvisor and decided to give it a shot... Well Taze was a slam dunk, firing on all cylinders! Service: I sat at the bar and was served by Edgar who was fanastic - so attentive, friendly, but what really stood out was his passion for excellence and belief in the restaurant. He told me about the owner and how he puts so much care into the restaurant and is always there and you can see this come through in Edgar. Starters: Taze starts you off with a complimentary tasting and toasted flatbread + roasted rep pepper dip. The complimentary tasting changes each day - this one was a delicious acini de pepe pasta with a light pesto sauce with tomatoes. Entree: I had the Sea Bass with Asparagus Risotto, yellow tomato coulis, basil oil and fennel salad garnish - it was perfection. Perfectly juicy sea bass, creamy risotto with small pieces of asparagus and the coulis was the perfect sauce for the dish. So all around bravo to Taze - 5 star food, 5 star service, 5 star experience. I will definitely go back every time I'm in town!

The beef oxtail pasta dish........I'm in love. I have to seriously consider if I love the Taze linguine or this new one more.

We had a pleasant surprise when we visited a new local Mediterranean restaurant. Our Great visit began with a simple complimentary and very tasty, Garlic Sesame Flatbread with a Roasted Red Pepper sauce to spoon on. I had the Grilled Salmon which is barbecue glazed, mango, fennel salad and chili, basil oil, turkish rice with raisins. Outstanding flavoring and textures throughout this beautiful salmon steak dish. My Wife had a sweet and salty Grilled Pork Chop which consists of a 12oz bone in center cut pork chop, cherry bourbon sauce, green beans, and roasted potatoes with excellent flavoring on a juicy very thick cut. Dessert was an incredible flavor explosion in the Creme Brulee´ Trio of vanilla, raspberry, and chocolate. Our server Christina gave us outstanding service and recommendations. The atmosphere was pleasant and inviting. All in all a very good dining choice.

Excellent Resturant. It's the best place to dine in Indiana, Pa. The appetizers are amazing especially the prosciutto wrapped mozzarella. Their wedges salad are second to none in the area. My filet mignon was cooked perfectly and my risotto was stellar. The staff are attentive and friendly. The Resturant is beautiful decorated. Their desserts are to die for. I've had the creme burlee trio and the Nutella crepe. Both were excellent and the presentation is exceptional. It's a relatively new Resturant and I hope it's here to stay. It's truly a hidden gem in Indiana. The level of dining you experience here WONT be replicated anywhere else near by.

Dear CRISCO, quit your job, because this is what real oily food actually tastes like! We all know that making a good pizza is the metric to which all European restaurants measure their muscolo. And if last night was any indication of their pizza punch, then Taze è stato castrato. There is more than enough oil on these pizzas to lubricate a M1 Abrams tank. The sweaty faux Italian food tastes like "wet cardboard". Not true. Wet cardboard tastes better. The parade of oily ingredients, confused sauces, and ideas piled one on top of the other until the recipes simply collapse under their own weight. Sadly two members of our party spent the night violently ill with their stomachs swimming in oil. While a third spent 6 hours in the bathroom as a human flamethrower. We had several problems with our food, seating, service and wrong orders. Each issue was addressed with the warmth of a syringe. Not once was an apology uttered. The atmosphere of Taze is infused with high prices and the self-esteem of the employees the management devours. They publicly admonish their staff in front of patrons which makes for an uncomfortable dining experience. Now one great thing about TAZE is that the bartender serves amazing drinks. Which is a good thing to make note of because you are going to need a stiff one when you get the bill. Margaritas are served in tiny martini glasses for $10 bucks a pop. Meals are so ridiculously priced for the quality of which you actually receive that when the bill arrived I thought Ashton Kutcher was going to jump out from under table saying: "YOU'RE PUNK'D!" A dining pair can easily expect to drop a $100 and still feel hungry. Ah yes... a unique dining experience indeed! Like an IV drip full of formaldehyde and crushed glass. Dining charm to what Burma is to democracy. FIVE STARS and Congratulations to the rudest, overpriced, worst colon-destroying establishment, that Indiana, Pa has to offer!! Our inflamed intestines and wallets won't be coming back.

Had a great meal with my husband. It now my fave place to go in Indiana. Wish there was more like it. Prices place it up with Benjamin's, but service and food way out ranks them.

Great service, beautiful flatware & plates, crowded seating & pricey. I think the other 2 reviews with low star ratings are spot on. Was there for lunch, only 3 other tables occupied at this time. Tables are way too close, could remove a few to make it more comfortable. I like that they bring a large bottle of water to the table because it saves having to ask for it or being interrupted by constant refills. We shared a Lunch Box combo - cool idea (which gives you choices for soup, salad, dip, sandwich & dessert, $14) We also had a Lamb burger and Ceviche lettuce wraps. I don't know if I set my expectations high but was not impressed with anything that we ate. The food was on the bland side and I would not be surprised if much of it came pre-made or store bought. I do have to comment on one thing; the $12 Lamb burger came with a sliced pickle and potato chips. I have nothing against a good crisp spud however; if I am paying $12 for a lunch I do not want bagged chips on the side. It's like putting plastic flatware on a linen napkin, both have their respective places but combined, well you get the point. I am going to agree with the yelper... It was not awful food, it was just OK, nothing to write home about. It's sad when you walk out of a restaurant and all you remember was the cool flatware. I don't mind paying for really good food but, Sorry Taze, I think you are missing the mark here. We will not be back.

Tazè seems to be an attempt at an upscale restaurant as carried out by people who have only read about or seen them on the Food Network. My friend and I managed to find out the place had opened by actually going - no website, no publicly listed phone number, just rumors and vague signage out front. When we arrived, we were the only two people dining; over the course of our meal, maybe three other parties came in. The owners clearly have no idea how to gauge demand, though, because there are way too many tables and chairs crammed into the dining area. Two or three tables could easily be removed from the center to space things out for more comfort. Likewise, the tables at the bench seating (!) running around two of the outer walls could be split up. Unless you want to feel like you're in a weirdly decorated cafeteria, I suppose. This seating issue led to the manager being very rude to my companion, first asking her to move her chair in, then later physically shoving it toward the table without asking, despite the place being empty enough that the manager could have gone around another vacant table altogether! My meal was a salmon fillet with quinoa, with a garden salad with "balsamic vinaigrette" garden salad to start. The dressing seemed to be straight vinegar, though, and the wilted mixed greens were uninteresting. A complementary plate of toasted flatbread with red pepper hummus was actually the best part of the dinner, as the salmon that followed was mediocre, neither grilled to the right point of achieving natural flavor nor seasoned enough to make up for that lack, with a pedestrian quinoa that I suspect came from a box from a supermarket mix. My companion's scallops had some interesting flavor combinations, but her assessment was that maybe only one of the three varieties was above appetizer-level fare. We shared a trio of crème brûlée (chocolate, vanilla, and raspberry) to finish the meal. They were a bit lumpy and runny, but not awful, although the chocolate custard was not a little like instant pudding; if the vanilla and raspberry were just combined into a single dish, it would have been better. The prices for what you get are much too high, finally: if the food were of sufficient quality to warrant the check, or conversely if the prices were perhaps $5 lower across the menu to reflect the actual value, Tazè might be recommendable as an occasional date night spot. Right now it's just a small-town bistro that thinks it's a city haute destination.

We travel a lot and are happy to see that these folks are trying to do it right. Indiana needs a place like this. The service is attentive, menu varied and interesting, the presentation shows effort and creativity. The food was cooked correctly and the flavors complimented each other. My only disappointment is the wine list- a bit pricy and the offerings we're a little obtuse for a small western PA town. I hope they keep trying new things and don't get stale like "another" place in town.

Excellent service and excellent food!! Our waitress was very attentive. As my boyfriend said, she was very good at up-selling. The steak was great but it was the dessert that will get me back!! We went on a whim and were under-dressed. I would say no jeans when we go back! Only negative was the table next to us was really close to us. Hard to have a private conversation. Will go back for sure! Expect to pay around 100$ for a meal for 2.

Excellent!!! We have never had a bad meal and highly recommend Taze. On the tight size for space, it gives a great energy to the dining room that is fun and friendly. Now, how about getting on Open Table app?

It's nice to eat somewhere in this town where the menu doesn't begin with pizza, chicken wings or burgers...everything was very good and we even bought an overpriced bottle of wine...I remember when this was the 'train station' restaurant and it was eerily similar...good stuff BUT it's small...very small...limited parking, etc...it's great to have something different in town but that's overshadowed by the fact that you rub elbows with strangers while eating...zero privacy or intimacy!! Love the change of pace & great flavors...hated the 'herd' feeling of a cheap diner!!

Took bae there for Valentine's day. Had pork medallions that were absolutely incredible. They were cooked perfectly, so tender they basically melted in my mouth. The sauce was incredible, and it was paired with far and away the best risotto I've ever had. Pricey for sure, but the quality and amount of food makes up for it. We had a cocktail, beer, appetizer, two entrees, and a dessert for $75. They brought out a few items on the house too. Very friendly, good atmosphere.

Not a bad place, I do wonder how they stay open because the few times I have gone, I was just about the only person there. The bartender Is pretty knowledgeable, but a rather very cocky and arrogant individual. It was acceptable at first, but eventually made my eating experience rather uncomfortable because I wanted to scream at him the entire time. The food was very very good. Get the marinated mussels every time, it is the only thing that brings me back to this place. The entrees are rather overpriced considering I need to drop 50$ and order two of them to not leave hungry. I've started just going during their 1/2 off apps happy hour and ordering the mussels and tips, completely worth it. Sadly, they have changed the happy hour :( and I probably won't be back because of it. 2 stars only because of the stuffy and smug atmosphere and vibe that you get. Just not a very comfortable place to be.

This restaurant was just simply amazing -- from the way that you are greeted to the service to the cutlery to the dishes, it was top-notch all the way. It's a five-star attitude and food with very reasonable prices. You can come dressed up or just come in jeans. The seafood is truly out of this world -- I can't decide if the sea bass or the scallops are my favorite, and I've never had a more beautiful presentation of foods. No need to travel out of town any longer for an outstanding restaurant experience! In fact, people from Pittsburgh need to start traveling HERE for this incredible restaurant. Don't miss the flourless chocolate cake and the homemade ice cream, complete with chocolate covered coffee beans!

Perhaps the residents of Indiana aren't really ready for a restaurant of the caliber of Taze. The previous reviews do not reflect the experience I had. This is by no means just an attempt at an upscale restaurant only seen on the Food Network. The restaurant has been converted from a charming old train depot, but once inside you lose the train station feel and are transplanted to a trendy foodie spot worthy of a much larger city. On top of the charming atmosphere, the food is a far cry from your fried bar food and stuffed sandwiches that plague this college town. Additionally, it isn't "bland" as another reviewer had mentioned, but it is lacking the beer batter many people in this town must prefer. A little about our personal experience with Taze: We were warmly greeted and seated immediately in the cozy dining room. There were several other tables seated at a comfortable distance from out table. The tables are rather close to one another to accommodate more than a dozen customers, but there is ample space for personal dinners and conversations. Our waitress brought us a bottle of water for the table and some delicious flatbread with a roasted pepper sauce, a welcome departure from unimaginative rolls and butter. We perused the menu and I ordered a Mediterranean lunch box combo of a caprese panini, delicious tomato soup, a watermelon tomato salad, hummus with pita, and the most delicious cupcake. My husband had an enormous lamb burger which was possibly the best either of us had ever tasted. Yes, it was served with chips but they were delicious house-made potato chips. The burger was so huge that additional embellishment from sides was absolutely unnecessary. Service was amazing, food was amazing, fresh, well crafted, delicious. and selected from high quality ingredients. If you enjoy good food in an atmosphere without burping (or worse) college students with a little more maturity that features incredible fresh food, give Taze a try! We will be putting it in regular rotation!

We have never had a bad meal here. The owners are awesome and very friendly. We love their happy hours too. The bar staff is also great! The food is SO GOOD! We love it here! Their pizzas are great, the lamb kabobs are great, their salmon tartar is out of this world and their vodka infused Moscow Mules are really good too! I could go on and on. Their risotto is wonderful too. Great job Mary Beth and Lenny! :)

Since Taze is a relatively new restaurant --- I checked out Yelp fior the scoop and appreciated Katharine C's detailed review, Our experience was just as memorable as hers. Our party included my elderly father, my son and my daughter and her family. We were quite comfortable at our table, The wait staff was incredibly professional and it was a seamless transition from the appetizers to dessert. We were waited on when we needed assistance and not constantly interrupted to be asked how everything is going. The food was uniquely different from the typical Indiana fare. I had the shrimp scampi which was delicious. Particularly impressive was their French pressed coffee. Someone wrote in her review that you could expect to pay $100 for dinner for 2. In comparison, we had 7 in our party and ordered appetizers, dinner for each of us, mixed drinks, coffee, dessert --- our bill came to $170 or so. We enjoyed our dinner at Taze immensely and will certainly patronize this establishment in the future.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
