Very friendly and sweet staff!! The menu and huge, and the food was delicious!! I loved my bacon, egg and cheese. Overall very cheap, even for diner standards. Which is good because I didn't plan on spending more then $20 on two people!! Definitely recommend and will be back

I wouldn't recommend. Our waitress was horrible. Completely unaware & a mousy personality to go with. The root beer was being refilled so she took our cups and left us without drinks for the meal. We asked another waitress and she explained it "still" had not been refilled. The burger was overcooked & small on a huge bun. We asked about pies & cakes but that threw the waitress into a tailspin. Another waitress offered us a cake to take at discount cause two slices were missing. No!

Large amounts of food. Quality is so-so. We were starved. Salad had some dead leaves. Chicken gumbo is very good. Crab cakes slightly burned, suppose to be broiled but was pan fried. Ask for tartar sauce she brought cocktail sauce. Server was very nice. She moved it from 2 to 3 stars.

Went here for a late lunch on Sunday afternoon, the service was friendly and the food was good. Having a real appreciation for diners, I was hoping this was a good one - it is. We asked our server "what's good here" and she was right - the pancakes are outa sight, the burgers (what I had) are made from meat they grind and mix! The portions are BIG, which is nice to see. I will go back again when I'm over this way. Only thing that could have made it better is if our server was a little more attentive, we waited around a little bit.. But overall a pleasant experience, certtainly no complaints about the food!

I've been to better. The omlettes were just eggs barely beaten together, not fluffy, not big, just eggs with little of what you choose to be included. The homefries were dry, crumbly, with not much more than a boring boiled potato flavor that probably barely skated across the griddle. The bagels were a toasted version of grocery store bought globs of white bread in a circular ring to make it look like something you visualized when you ordered, only to disappoint. The coffee was very good, the service too. This location is what this place has going for it. Other than that, breakfast certainly was not anything more than ordinary.

To start off, the waitress was bangin, the food was not. 10/10 would bang waitress Liz. Excellent service to make up for the shitty food. Very attentive and polite. The hostess abruptly told us to follow her and rushed us to a table in the middle of a section, and traffic with plenty of booths to spare so we asked to be moved. My daughter ordered the deluxe cheeseburger that came with fries and a tiny tub of coleslaw. Too much bun, not enough patty. She said it all tasted gross. My fiance ordered the hickory smoked bbq burger that came with onion rings. The hickory smoked bbq part was a tiny Kraft bbq sauce packet like you get at any fastfood joint. You had to pour it on yourself. My fiance had such a sad look as he stared and chewed his food slowly, but I think he felt both sad for the people who had to serve this stuff and deal with complaints and his poor taste buds. I ordered the 14 0z steak smothered in mozzarella, marinara sauce, peppers, and mushrooms. Came with soup, salad, and your choice of 2 sides. I am still trying to figure out if what I ate was a real steak or not. It didn't taste like beef and the texture was off. There was no marinara, just a small bit of canned tomato and lots of wetness that looked like watered down gravy?? The cream of mushroom soup was as thick as lumpy oatmeal with canned mushrooms. The cucumber salad was doused in what tasted like sugar water. The coleslaw tasted of the same stuff. None of us finished our food trying to figure out what the hell just happened with our dinners. We still had hope! Dessert! Daughter and fiance ordered chocolate mousse cheesecake, which they both took a few bites of and gave up hope and I had the baklava, which seemed to be made of frozen pastry puff and that walnut stuff in syrup you pour over ice cream. I can't even.... I'm giving this place 2 stars solely because of the service. Will not return. Would not recommend to anyone who values their taste buds and quality over quantity.

This Diner was recommended by a GOOD FRIEND...I was not disappointed , I walked in, and sat down at the counter and was met by my waiter...Pete, young and enthusiastic about the menu...he offered his expertise on the breakfast choices, and he wasn't wrong...I had the breakfast special #7, it brought out to me quick , and hot. GOOD FOOD ...GREAT SERVICE CASHIER WAS VERY PLEASANT .... I would definitely stop in again They have quite an assortment of pastries I understand they bake on the premises Stop in and see PETE, he will take great care of you!

Big menu, and great prices. The food was fairly good. Typical of what you'd expect from a nice roadside diner. The interior of this place is rather plain and in my opinion, kind of depressing. It does remind one of a white washed hospital cafeteria complete with plastic plants. The service I had was, ok. Prompt and satisfactory.

We stumbled upon this place one time after leaving the theater across the street and none of the other places were open. The place is pretty standard for your average fare. But, the portions are huge. And the staff are super friendly. We're definitely coming back here again when we are in the area.

I've heard that the Red Lion Diner is a top name on the Norther Montgomery County Diner Circuit. I'm not sure why. It was pretty good, but I don't love the layout inside - feels too closed in -- you almost forget youre on the side of an ugly busy road. Food was okay, service was okay. I'd come back, but not my top diner. There's a bunch better and close right over the county line border!

Terrible fod. I had the fried seafood dinner and almost sent it back. Mac and cheese disgusting. Server was sweet and attentative. Never going back.

Great food here every time I go here, we've been going here as long as I can remember. Big portions for the money. I highly recommend the veal manny and the chicken salad club, also you can't go wrong with there breakfast. The wait staff is great too!

My family and I have been going here for years, mostly for dinner on weekends. The service is always fast and friendly. We love Angie as our server! The food gives you a very homemade feel. Homemade pastries and soups are so good. Love the cheesecake!

Great home cooked food. Huge portions. What a diner should be in the Philly area, and it can't be found anywhere else.

The food was quite decent. General diner food, but plenty of it. The prices were incredibly reasonable (great weekday specials too) and the staff was superbly friendly. Quite a nice place to stop by for a quick and cheap bite to eat.

We've been coming here for years. You get a lot of food for the money, and smiling, friendly service. We really like that dinners can come with soup and salad, and the children's menu is varied. The food is okay, not great, not bad. Some items we like are the chicken croquettes, gyros, chicken francais, pancakes, french toast. The desserts are huge and okay too. When we don't know what to get for dinner, and we're not in the mood for pizza, we come here or do take-out.

The red lion diner, possibly the best in the area? This place gets all stars from me. Food: Since this is a family establishment there is a lot of pride and love that goes into the food... The diner is like a member of the family in itself! With a vast menu and quality ingredients you really wont be let down. I don't remember a time I ever left hungry either, as the portion size is spot on for diner meals. Also, everything Ive had has been delicious. You know that "home cooking" kind of tasty that is so rare these days? You get that here............and try the gyros - FANTASTIC! Service: Quick service! The food comes out fast, hot and delicious - never sits around due to slow servers. Whenever I go there I get treated like I'm family....... It's almost like I AM family or something.....crazy.....anyway, this is a great place to come and feel at home. Price: The price is spot on and they really feed you, which is great. You get more than you pay for especially when you factor in the food quality and friendly atmosphere. Overall I highly recommend this place, I love the food but especially the people working there! Go soon and bring the whole family, you wont be disappointed!!

Belgian Waffle! Gotta love going here for breakfast at all times of the day. I typicaly go a few times and month and I enjoy it every time. I get breakfast with a Belgian Waffle, smothered in strawberries! Yum Yum Yum. I have partaken in some of their sandwich varietys as well and did not come away dissapointed. Heavily reccomend this place, and they are usually hopping at all hours. And it's only a few minutes from home!

I've always gone here with friends for the breakfast special which offers good food in high quantities and a low price. I had lunch here recently and ordered the chicken salad special. Great meal!! Included were: soup, French fries, a huge sandwich and choice of dessert ... plus a drink, The price was $6.99 if remember right. Had to take home half of the sandwich and the dessert... Fantastic value. The only negative is the parking availability especially at breakfast time.. DO check this place out !!

The Red Lion Diner is a nice place to take a family out to eat without spending too much money, and they give you pretty big portions of food. That being said the food that they give you could be a little better, not that the food is bad, its just nothing special, very ordinary. Other than that, the place has a nice atmosphere and a nice friendly staff.

First of all the look of the building it's self inside and out looks very elegant. I settled for breakfast after browsing the vast menu and landed on breakfast. The cuisine was quite superb. Excellent environment, will visit again. -Fried

Red Lion must be doing something right because there is ALWAYS a line to get in this place - at least for Sunday breakfast. The service is very friendly. The food is GOOD - not GREAT. Can't say they are SPEEDY with your order but I don't necessarily see that as a bad thing. We'd go back.

Fantastic Breakfast! Portions are huge and the food is great. Prices are more than reasonable. I haven't had a bad meal there ever. There is a waitress there called Melisa. I call her "Sweet Melisa." She is great and probably the shortest girl in the place.

  • Karen F.

Between 2 & 3 stars. I feel generous today and they HAVE renovated oveer the years so that is a plus. Not a holy grail by any means, but they have friendly "lifer" waitresses along with new "young kids" who serve you and service is QUICK and good. The food - however - is "classic" (read: heavy) and not that great. Breakfast or burgers are a safe bet.

Chicken croquettes are soo good here! $10.25 is such a deal...comes with salad, soup, beverage, mashed potatoes, choice of a side, and desert! Whoa! I have even gotten use to the atmosphere. Always a line...but it moves fast. Comfort food...and lots of it!

Found it rude to say the least, the owner was obnoxious to the staff and customers. I guess if you enjoy being talked down to, this is the place for you.

Ive been here a number of times for breakfast. It seems to be my girlfriends favorite place in the area to have breakfast at. Its your typical diner experience. Decent food at a decent price. Nothing really stands out to me except for their coffee being pretty bad. I love coffee and its gotten to the point I wont even order it there anymore. Their food is kinda blah, not much flavor to it but is still goes down well and fills you up. They are always busy and always have people waiting to get in, lots of families and older folks, so that means it cant be all bad right?

  • Eric D.

Can be fairly busy especially during the weekend breakfast rush, be prepared to wait. They serve up a decent breakfast but prefer the other place down the street a little more. I don't like their pudding at all, their danish is ok, and their pancakes are good.

    (3)
  • Suni A.

As far as diners go, not bad. The tables are very low. This is the only place in the area where they know how to cook bacon so that when it's served to you it's not still squeeling. That concludes our list of acceptable foods at RLD. Thank you.

Whether you're ordering breakfast, lunch, or dinner (with the exception of the seafood dishes, but who goes to a diner for seafood anyway?) you're guaranteed a huge, delicious meal. Personally, I love the omelets. When they say 3 eggs, they really mean more like 4-5 with a huge helping of potatoes and toast, or their delicious pancakes. The best part? It's so cheap! They still have $2 and $4 breakfast specials if you get there early enough. All in all, Red Lion offers some of the best, and least expensive, breakfasts around.

This place is pretty good. The food is good. Service is ok. Prices are reasonable. It's a nice place. Definitely check it out if you are in the area...especially for breakfast!

Great breakfast place! Do not be deterred by what appears be be a long line of people waiting. It moves quickly! Service is efficient and very "diner like." Menu has the usual choices, and I particularly like their omlets and pancakes for breakfast. They also have an awesome turkey club - real roasted turkey and other fresh ingredients, it's really yummy and satisfying. If you are looking for a quick and satisfying meal, this is your place.

This is the place for the early bird specials for dinner! I went with 3 companions and we were all happy for our food. With the early bird special, you get a salad (house, caesar, or greek are your choices...the salad wasn't bad, though there was a lot of big pieces of the very white lettuce, which I don't eat.), your choice of soup (I had minestrone which was served hot and was pretty tasty) and your entree with a choice of a side. The entree I chose was chicken fingers parm, which comes with a side. I chose to have the cucumber salad; this was just an okay choice as it didn't have very good flavor. The chicken fingers parm was decent. The sauce used on it was delish and the cheese it was topped with was of good quality. You also get dessert; I had the bread pudding with whipped cream. It was served cold (I like bread pudding served warm), but nonetheless, it was of decent caliber. They also bring out yummy cinnamon bread and regular white bread with your soup and salad. Overall, the server was attentive and efficient. There were a few times where we needed refills on our drinks and she wasn't around for a while. After we saw her, she immediately did refill our drinks, but never did check on us when we got our entrees to see if we needed anything. She was very accommodating with getting us boxes for our leftover food. Going to the early bird special gives you a bunch of food - so much that you will have at least one more, if not two, more meals for yourself. My companions had the 1/2 chicken breast with stuffing and mashed potatoes, crab cakes, and egg plant parm. Each said their food was good tasting and filling. They seemed happy with their choices and commented that the food was "decent" for diner food. What we loved most was the price! You get a lot of food for a very good price. We were lucky since we went around 4:15 pm. We left around 5:15-5:30 pm and the lobby area was filled with people waiting to be seated. We all left with enough to eat...and enough for lunch the next day. If you're looking to stretch your money when going to dinner in this area, this places gives you a lot of bang for your buck.

You have to be very hungry when ordering a three egg omelet with home fries, green peppers and onions. You can feast off of it for half a day! The only thing I do not like is they fry their bacon in large quantities in a deep fryer. Ugh! There goes the flavor and here comes the grease. Other than that the food is good, hot and you do get a full plate. They have an in house bakery and the pastries are very good. Service is friendly and efficient and the prices are reasonable. Family owned and operated, which is always a plus!

The line was so long - but the wait was quicker than expected. I take breakfast very seriously and was very impressed with the quality and service. Our waitress had a broken toe and she was still a better waitress than I have experienced at other locations. The bacon was crisp and tasty and my eggs were made to perfection. I would def. come here again.

Maybe even almost 4 stars when viewed with it's competitors in mind. This place has a real following. It's good to see a busy, bustling restaurant on a weeknight, especially in this economy. One of the chief reasons they are busy is because they offer a great value and very decent food. Its diner food people not fine dining, that means breakfast all day and all night, burgers sandwiches and some specials of the day. As with all of the diners I eat at and review, the rule of thumb is to keep it as dinerific as possible. This means if they have surf and turf on the menu, avoid it at all costs because after all, surf and turf is not exactly diner food now is it. Keep to the sirloin steak smothered in gravy with a side of mash, if you venture beyond pork chops you may be setting your self up for a disappointment. I think The Red Lion is straight away the best diner in the area, good, hot fresh food, nice portions and reasonable prices. You couldn't hardly make it at home for what it costs here so give em a go.

Tonight was a visit to old faithful "The Red Lion Diner". Always good food, gracious host and hostess Teta and Gus. Our server Angie couldn't be nicer. Soup, salad, and dessert with the chef's specials. I had the Italian trio. Stuffed shells, manicotti, and sauteed veal. Absolutely delicious. Fresh bread including a to die for cinnamon to add enjoyment to the feast. Mary Ann chose the broiled scallops with the candied carrots and real mashed potatoes. The soups were chicken and noodles or cream of mushroom. We both had the mushroom soup. Real mushrooms and vegetables in a not to thick broth. For dessert we splurged and shared a piece of plain cheese cake. Let me tell you that it was better than what I always thought was THE best cheese cake. And that was at the old Country Club diner. If in the Horsham area conveniently located at 611 and County Line Road give it a try. You will not leave hungry or disappointed. Reasonably priced.

If I could give no stars, I would. When the waitress finally made it over to our table, my daughter asked what type of pie they had. She's on crutches now due to a sprained ankle. Her crutches were leaning on the table next to her. The waitress told her to go look at the pies to see what kind they had. I ordered a hot turkey sandwich; the waitress thought I ordered a regular turkey sandwich. She asked me if I said "hot turkey sandwich." I said that I did. She said that I didn't. The waitress was so incredibly rude, we walked out after we placed our order. We did tell the owner why we were leaving and asked her to cancel our order. Won't ever go back there again.

Certainly at the top of my breakfast list. Service is always good and meals are served in a timely manner. Food is as good as any in the area and you won't leave hungry. On weekends there is often a line at the door between 9-11 am. I can't speak for other meals but I strongly suggest a breakfast stop if your in the area.
