The Resturant design with a view of lake is really beautiful. The service ( Amber) was right on- attentive but not overly so. The food was enjoyable- tasted well and good portions sizes however it wasn't quite as good as I had hoped. Salmon was slightly overcooked and the salad was small and plain. I would come again if in the area but not make a special trip just for this Resturant .

Best for your $ in town. Burgers at the bar.. or sit down and relax with a JD Steak!

When I go out for dinner I really truly want something exceptional. If this is the case for you I recommend not coming here. Although my flank steak with a Jack Daniels sauce was very good, being the restaurant is considered a steak/Chophouse I would hope so! The fish cake entree was also quite enjoyable . But their baked potatoes certainly need some attention and their vegetable side dish is a joke. Unless you love over cooked frozen baby carrots. It would be so simple to easily put together a fresh side of vegetables. I wish the chef would go eat at an Outback steak house to see how it can be done. With a few simple easy changes this could be a three star* restaurant. If you're looking for a good steak and french fries this is the place to come, for sure. But it certainly misses the mark for fine dining.

I was very disappointed with this place. I had really high hopes for it. AMAZING view, great décor, large beautiful deck with lounge furniture. Great ambience. Friendly, helpful staff. I don't remember what I ordered but I do remember being disappointed. I would definitely give it another shot and try something else though because I loved the atmosphere so much. My fiancé and I bought a bottle of wine and just sat on the deck and relaxed. Higher priced

One of our 'go to' places in Hawley. Food is good, nice big bar, lots of pub tables around the bar. Dining room with a view of the lake and outside deck. Can't go wrong.

Okay place, not great. Chicken parm was overcooked Salads were ordinary. Oh, and kitchen? When the customer says "hold the onions", it literally means The Customer Doesn't Want Onions. So Don't Put Onions On It.

We go out to dinner quite often and were excited to hear about Greshams. First impressions were very good, The view was very nice and we liked the option of sitting inside or outside. We were greeted and seated as soon as we arrived and the waitress came quickly to get our drink order. So far, so good. I was taken back with the limited selection of wines given it is a chop house but I wasn't drinking wine so it wasn't a big deal (just something I noticed for another time). Menu selections were good and I had a hard time deciding what to get. I asked the waitress which of two she recommended and she said I couldn't go wrong with either. We ordered the calamari and the mozzarella block for appetizers. I think the oil was too hot for the mozzarella as the outside was borderline burnt but the inside could have used a minute or two more. The calamari was just done (could have also used some more time in the fryer) and very bland. We left most of that on the plate but was never asked if there was a problem. Salads came with the meal and my husbands was good. Mine was served on a warm plate so the lettuce got limp very quickly and the dressing was warm too. He ordered the NY Strip and I ordered the Jack Daniels Steak. The presentation was very sloppy. I had ordered a side of pasta instead of a baked potato. The pasta wasn't drained so there was a puddle of water at the bottom of the bowl. The sauce was then thrown on top, some of which was outside of the bowl and on the plate. it was so watery that the sauce just didn't stick to the pasta. The steak was cooked well but was not given time to rest so the blood of the meat was all over the plate. The portion size was more like a filet. My husbands steak was chewy Service was not great either. We finished our drinks after our appetizer and both had empty drinks through the salad course. The waitress never stayed at the table long enough for us to ask for a drink and didn't come back to see how things were. There was a young blonde girl that cleared tables between courses. She did a nice job and was responsive when asked for something but when the server doesn't do this, there is a lost opportunity for good customer service. We were excited up until we got the food.

Had to wait, not a big deal. Wait staff VERY inexperienced, had to wait for drinks, provided water with some ceremony, no bread. Not given a run down of the specials. NO PRICES listed or mentioned, either. Got Cowboy steak rare, not med rare, as requested. Hubby got his dinner before me, we're given apologies and more bread, finally my entree arrived undercooked. It was one missed cue after another with the waitress, hubby got pasta. We each had a beer. The cost? $75.40, not able to leave a great tip, because we did't think it would cost so much, vs. the Alpine, where we get premium imported beer, an appetizer, entree that never fails, and desert for about $60-$65, deserts are homemade at the Alpine, which we'll be returning to next time we can go out. Tonight we're having hot dogs at home!

This one is the better food choices around the lake. Unfortunately service is weak...Hostess is weak. I was told no reservations for less than 8 but I watched others with party of 6 get seated with reservations... Will continue to go but hopefully the help improves.

Dinner for 2 tonite. Queen cut prime rib correctly done. Excellent glazed carrots. Stuffed rigatoni good. Nice salads. All priced reasonably. Drinks done nicely, except need to learn lemon twist.

Beautiful atmosphere with large picture windows overlooking the lake. I ordered the Prime Rib special which was pretty cheap at just 12 bucks and was good. Could have been a bit more rare but still had a decent flavor (and trust me getting prime rib in this town that isn't grey is nearly impossible) while my wife ordered the filet which was surprisingly good. What upset me most is that we ordered the soup of the day ... chicken dumpling soup and it sounded really good. However when i tried it I knew I had had it once before. It tasted like it came out of a progresso soup can. It had that metallic taste to it like it was from a can. If this place is serving canned soup... if they have that little amount of passion and are taking those sorta short cuts then that's really quite awful to be charging that much for something i can make from going to my own supermarket. Oh and ... if you're going to use canned soup, try not to use progresso... that stuff is just horrible.

Our group of six was here this evening after Wally fest. We had great drinks, food, and service. The prices were very reasonable in all our opinion. The only reason I am reviewing this as four stars is because there was a delay when receiving our last two meals. We are Greentown residents and we will definitely be back!

2 Strikes and you're out. The first meal was 'okay'. Nothing special, but prices were high for what we got. Service was definitely sub-par for something as pricey. Went back a second night. Arrived at 8:30 and they close at 9:00. When we saw we were the only ones in the joint and they were wrapping up we repeatedly offered to go somewhere else. (I really don't want a pissed off chef who's already cleaned the kitchen making me dinner). But they assured us it was fine. I've never been so rushed. We were seated by 8:35. We had a drink, our appetizer and entrée and then paid the check and were out of there by 9:05. The waitress literally came over and asked if I was done when I had a mouthful of food, and took my plate away before I could even swallow or respond. Do the next latecomer a favor and tell them to go away instead. There are other, better, choices in the area.

Everything was perfect. Pretty casual for a steakhouse but the food was excellent. Honestly, the best strawberry cheesecake I have ever had.

We were in the Poconos for a long weekend and were looking for a dinner spot close to The Hideout in Lake Ariel. Gresham's was about a 20 minute drive, but worth the trip. Clean and modern with good American fare, friendly wait staff and tidy bathrooms, we would return to this restaurant if we're in the area again. We sat inside, but had a nice view of Lake Wallenpaupack. Our waitress, Linda, was a true delight. We started with coconut shrimp which came with a tasty pineapple-horseradish dipping sauce. My bf enjoyed his bacon cheeseburger and onion rings and I thoroughly enjoyed my bruschetta chicken sandwich. Both came on yummy ciabatta bread. I subbed a skimpy side salad for my fries for an extra $1.25 and we both had cappuccino after dinner @ $4 each. With tax and tip, our meal was $50.

So glad that the place we stayed at (East Shore Lodge) offered a $50 gift certificate to this restaurant. Was not impressed whatsoever. When we first got there, the hostess ignored us until she finished her conversation with another couple. We were seated and the specials were given to us, only to find out, after we ordered, that they ran out of my order. I ended up ordering the grilled chop which was very juicy but had no flavor. My bf ordered the NY Strip which he wasn't thrilled with either. The only thing I enjoyed was the bread and olive oil mixture that was given. This place is way over priced and the food isn't great. The atmosphere was nice and very clean but I'd rather go to Ehrhardt's and have a very good, medium priced meal, rather than go here again.

Service was fast and friendly. We shared the appetizer platter and had a wonderful cup of Hunter soup which was fresh and yummy. We ate on the patio and watched the sunset. Asked if the dessert was as good as the ice cream down the block, and got the honest answer that the ice cream is really good, and it was!

I was lucky enough to visit the Chop House during a weekend vacation in the Poconos. After being turned down at another restaurant due to a lack of seating, we decided to head over to the Chop House, as I had never been there before. I was immediately impressed with the clean and up-to-date interior of the restaurant, as many of the restaurants in the Poconos are dingy and dated. Plenty of seating was available, and large bay windows offered a scenic view of Lake Wallenpaupack. Simply put, the food was excellent. As it is primarily a steak house, I ordered a 10 oz. filet mignon. It was probably one of the best filets that I have ever had. I also was able to try the coconut shrimp, served with a delicious pineapple dipping sauce. The service was great, and the overall dining experience was wonderful.

Great food, great service. We were a party of four adults, each ordering something different. We were all pleased with our meal. Will definitely go back.

We stayed at the Gresham's Lake View House which provided 10% off at the next door Gresham's Chop House. We were seated immediately at one of the booths by the bay windows, although we did not have a reservation for an 8:30 dinner. We skipped appetizers and had bottled beers for drinks. For entrees, he ate and loved the manicotti with meatballs. Per recommendations from the waitress, I ate the chicken francaise over penne pasta; the sauce was tart and delicious. We shared a snickers sundae for dessert which was served in a huge goblet. Built on top of a brownie, the sundae was richly dressed with chocolate syrup, whipped cream, nuts, and caramel.

Came here on a Tuesday night with a group of 4 ladies and sat on the deck with a view of the lake. Our server was super friendly and steered us to a cheese stuffed pasta dish with braised beef short rib in a Marsala sauce. DIVINE! A small salad was included and the house Italian dressing was liked by all. 3 of 4 got the same dish so not much variety to judge the whole menu but if most dishes were executed to this standard I will gladly come back. Drinks were generous and tasty. Bon appetite! Oh yes, the menu seemed gluten free friendly though I myself do not subscribe to such limitations!

It's our 5th time to this area and our 1st time to this restaurant. We absolutely loved our meals. Kid friendly and great lake view. Nice bar and friendly staff. Will definitely come back!

I have been in for dinner two different times, both times we were casually greeted and sat. Service is friendly and fast. Appetizers and entrees were good. I would recommend more for drinks at the bar than a dining out experience.

I was at Gresham's about a year ago with a group of 10 for a Birthday. It was the second time I was there. First time was nothing special, but I thought the setting was good for this gathering being near the lake and all. The food was not great. Chicken caesar's was good, most else was not. The service was annoying. We were rushed at every turn. The waitress was asking me if we wanted the cake while people were still eating their dinner. The owners, who were there, did not seem to care about much. What a shame. Great location and great view of lake. From what I've read in the recent reviews, not much has changed it seems.

A bit disappointing. The restaurant is nice enough. The meals were small and the salads seemed like they were bought days ago at the local IGA. They seem like they should be able to do a lot better.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
