Better than starving on a Sunday morning when nothing else in Gettysburg is open. Home fries were cold. Coffee was ok. Biscuits were decent.

We stopped here on our way home. Such a home style feel, our breakfast was great! A place where the locals visit. A very clean restaurant.

Service was painfully slow and not particularly friendly. The blueberry pancakes and French toast were delicious, but my "sausage gravy" was basically just salty white sauce. Large portions for a great price but they skimp on quality.

An off the beaten path little hometown restaurant with very good food and a very friendly waitress. The prices were really reasonable. This place is far better then any chain restaurant.

Good, standard diner food. One star less than the Lincoln because the home fries were kinda meh. But good omelet, better bacon than the Lincoln, good service.

Was passing through the other day and really wanted to avoid the tourist traps downtown. I saw the reviews for this diner on Yelp, noticed that it had ample parking in a surface lot, and though - perfect! Then - I got there. And, it got even perfecter. I was there for breakfast and their menu was nice and comprehensive. And, as others have noted, super cheap, imho. Which is great! Not because I'm a cheapy pants (even though I am), but because their restaurant seemed to be filled with local regulars who were at a point in their life where they were fixed income. At that point, a $5 breakfast can be a big commitment. For a tourist, a $5 breakfast can be a massive relief on ye olde pocketbook. Breakfast was fast, accurate, and good. I don't say this often, but, their egg sandwich was better than I make. If I lived here, I would eat here all the time.

My wife and I eat here about once a week for a couple years now. Friendly staff, quick service, food is very good. Small family diner with family friendly prices.

We ate here this morning. The food was of poor quality and the service was slow. The hash browns looked like fried mashed potatoes, the eggs, requested as over hard, were dramatically over-cooked and gross and the French toast was moist with raw egg and soggy. Just gross.

West Side Diner was recommended as a cheap place for locals. We have been there twice for breakfast and I will confirm it is cheap, but the food is uninspired. So are the staff. Getting a refill on a cup of coffee can be difficult at times. The ambiance is typical strip-mall diner, but for some reason the place always seems so loud. More like a cafeteria. After the second visit, my hubby informed me we will not be back, even though the place is only a block from our house.

Open 7am to 8pm daily and offers a wide range of breakfast (served all day), lunch and dinner items. The 13-table and booth venue is clean and plain. Service is friendly and efficient for the mostly local clientele. Offerings include sandwiches, wraps, burgers and dinner platters. A 3-egg Western omelette with hash browns and toast was $5.95 while a broiled seafood dinner was $14.95. Most entrees are less than $10. Nearby shops include a small pharmacy and a dollar store.

Nothing special to go out of way for. Omelet was dry & flat. Home-fries just ok . 3 stars for good service & good coffee. Disappointed.

Very nice local place. No points for decor, but the place was clean and the staff friendly. The coffee kept flowing and the western omelette was good quality. I appreciate the place being devoid of tourists. I will definitely return again next time we are in Gettysburg and a need descent quality breakfast at a reasonable price. Breakfast served all day.

My family has started going to this diner a lot since it opened. Its just a little place in the corner of a shopping center, but it is DEFINITELY worth the stop. They have a large selection of breakfast foods, sandwiches, and burgers, as well as some other standard diner foods. The quality of the food at West Side Diner is a lot better than most diners. You can tell it is a family restaurant because everything that comes out is obviously made with care and not just by some teenaged kid. The portions are huge. I ordered the turkey triple decker sandwich and I ended up having to take some of it home! Every time my parents go in, they end up bringing half of their food home too, so we always joke that going there is like getting two meals for the price of one. The prices at West Side are fantastic. You can easily get a lunch for under five dollars (with enough to take home). Everything on the menu is extremely reasonably priced. The decor of the place is a little plain, but I take that as a good sign that they care more about FOOD than about some generic pictures on the walls. West Side Diner is good, quality, family food that is a good Gettysburg secret that I would highly recommend.

Tucked away in a small shopping center, this "diner" used to be a popular Mexican restaurant. Now, the restaurant is called the West Side Diner, a name more evocative of the menu items than the decor. That's why on my first visit there, I thought to myself, "Let's try the cheeseburger. They have to be able to make a good cheeseburger if they're going to call themselves a diner." Well, I'm pleased to report, Wide Side Diner can, indeed, make a good cheeseburger. I ordered the Greek burger (feta instead of cheddar), and it was good. The bun was fresh, the feta cheese was piled on high, and lunch only cost me $4.75, excluding tip. There were lots of senior citizens there for lunch, so apparently, the establishment already has a reputation for "good value." It might just become a regular breakfast/lunch spot, but I'll report back, after I've eaten my way through some other menu selections.

Breakfast items were excellent. Unfortunately the dinner items that we had, turkey, mash potatoes, dressing were not good. Go there for breakfast. Go someplace else for dinner.

Stopped for breakfast before touring the battlefields and well worth the stop. Their French toast is some of the best I've ever had. The service was fast and friendly. We'd go out of our way on a road trip to eat here again!

The storefront says their hours are 6 am to 10 pm 7 days a week. I came over here for breakfast because of the reviews on Yelp, but Monday, Oct 10 at 6:32am, the place was dark with no posted explanation. I called on Friday, Oct 14 to find out what happened and no one answered the phone. Can't say for sure they're still open.

Gettysburg has hundreds of thousands of tourists who pass through each year. The West Side Diner is tucked in a little shopping center that is off the main tourist drag. It caters mostly to locals. The food is very reasonably priced and is quite good. The decor is...well...if you want ambiance, look elsewhere. My wife and I eat breakfast here at least once a week and we have the occasional lunch. Our breakfast staples are a Veggie Wrap and poached egg on whole wheat toast. Incidentally, they serve the Veggie Wrap with a fresh fruit cup instead of home fries if you are weight conscious. The fruit is really good all year round. Our breakfast bill which always includes a couple of cups of coffee (pretty good coffee and never of the last drop in the pot variety) comes to $9.63. Since the waitresses never bother to add up the bill, it often mysteriously varies by about a quarter depending on the waitress, her mood, and other imponderables. Yesterday we had a typical lunch consisting of a Chicken Salad Wrap and a Club sandwich. We consistently comment that this uninspired order meets or exceeds our highest expectations. This review is for Gettysburg visitors who want a decent meal for a decent price at a place that does not advertise or attract attention to itself in any other way. If you walk west along Chambersburg Pike (Route 30) about four blocks past Lincoln Circle, you'll get good exercise and a good meal.

I stopped in for Monday lunch and ordered off the special board. I took the chicken quesadilla for just under $7, expecting a nice snack. Wow--the portion was very generous (I didn't know they made fajitas that big) and the grilled chicken inside was VERY flavorful. It came with salsa, sour cream, and a little bit of lettuce and tomato. I thought it was astonishing. I ate there a week or so ago and thought the chili, while good, lacked a bit of pizzazz (I like a bit more spice and heat) but it was obviously made in-house and would have held the spoon upright. My accompanying grilled cheese on rye was excellent. Give these local folks a try!
