I had passed this restaurant many times on my way to other places and today my husband and I decided to stop off and give it a try. It has always had a lot of cars parked in front and I noticed a lot of older people going in and coming out so I assumed it was a popular place with a reasonably priced menu. I wasn't wrong. I had not realized it was mainly a catering facility until we came through the doors and saw signs for various banquet rooms and a rather long ramp up to the diner-style dining area. We were seated in the back room which was a little dark and had the ambience of someone's basement rec room. The "front" dining room is larger and sunnier and I wish we'd been seated there. But we were greeted in a friendly way, seated immediately and had ample time to view the menu before our pleasant young waiter appeared and took our orders. The menu was not excessively large like a lot of diners, but there was enough variety that we took our time before my husband ordered the turkey pot pie and I ordered a hot roast beef sandwich, both priced at less than $10. The portions were generous, our food was hot and I felt the prices were very reasonable compared to your typical chain restaurant. We were too full to order dessert but I saw some tempting things emerge from the kitchen for other diners. The decor is a little dated like an old un-remodeled Friendly's, but it was clean, the food was satisfying and I liked the way the tables and booths are a little spread out so a noisy family of kids on the other side of the room never disturbed us. I would go back, but ask to be seated in the front room instead. A good value for the money.

Place was terrible! Food was cold, except for the potato soup which was lukewarm at best. In addition to being cold, the food was terrible, no taste whatsoever. Well that's not entirely true. The pork products, bacon and hot dogs, were very tasty. The rooms in the entire building where freezing. The waiting room was set at 64 and would not go up even though the thermostat was raised. Yelled at for entering the banquet room early. The door should have been locked if they didn't want people in - do NOT yell at your customers! Wonder if the people who gave this place more than two stars were paid to do so.

this place was the WORST!!!!! the waitress was not nice and slow... The food at the dinner buffet was TERRIBLE.. Cold and had no taste. The waitress double charged use for a kids buffet, when we went up to the counter to pay we told the host and he said the waitress made a few mistakes on our check.. We ended up paying more after they fixed our check. We asked why and he said she didnt charge the right price for the buffet.cause my husband got dessert..(WHICH HE DIDNT). we didnt even ask any more questions we just wanted to get out of there.. WILL NEVER GO BACK AGAIN .

This is my family's favorite place to eat. A great, family-friendly restaurant with homestyle food at reasonable prices. Service is friendly. On Friday and Saturday night they have a prime rib and seafood buffet, and on Saturday and Sunday mornings they have a breakfast buffet. Both buffets have a great selection.

The Heritage Family restaurant is attached to a banquet hall. I've never been to a banquet there, but I have been to the diner about a half dozen times. The diner has a family-oriented, conservative atmosphere. They do not have extensive hours, I would check to make sure they are open before making a trip to their location. I've eaten lunch here a couple of times and had dinner once. Good diner food, simple menu, good fries. (Basically, I'm a fan of any place with good fries.) I never made it there for breakfast, but I suspect that it would be great.

I will definitely eat before I travel to Franconia next time! The food tasted like it was reheated and the mashed potatoes seemed like instant. The vegetables were soggy and cold, definitely not "steamed" the turkey appeared to be processed, not fresh carved. It looked like it was lunch meat turkey cut thick and heated. I will never return to this restaurant. I have tried other diners and restaurants in neighboring towns and there are several better options in this area. Keystone Diner in Telford or Casey's Tavern in Hatfield are much better options!

Good, hot food and resonable prices. A nice quiet place to meet someone. Service is excellent.

I found the wait staff to be very friendly and efficient. However, the vegetarian options, which are the only things I can legitimately write about, need to be overhauled. What you get is just a plate full of whatever sides they have available. They way overcook their veggies to the point of mush; there is no protein -- beans etc. -- on the plate. Note to the chef: vegetarians eat more than just vegetables. We eat beans, tofu, tempeh, nuts, seeds, fruits...basically every and any food that is not animal in origin. There are loads of creative cookbooks for vegetarian and vegan cooking out there; I suggest you consult some and try again.

Tasteless. Freezing cold dining room. Don't get the buffet. Everything on it was mushy. Probably been there for days. Meatballs were gross, linguine was like noodles in a soup, shrimp was disgusting, and tilapia was super bland. Will not be returning.

Went here for dinner for the first time. Don't live in the area but passed it before so took the half hour ride up to check it out. My husband ordered the Saturday special, chicken cordon blu with scalloped potatoes and buttered corn. The platter almost made us laugh when it arrived. Talk about tiny, tiny portion. The chicken was so small, and the potatoes came in a small bowl, the type vegetables come in, (probably about four slices of potatoes) and the corn was not "buttered" either. I ordered the small plate turkey/stuffing dinner. Got a side salad and green beans for my two sides. There was a decent amount of turkey, and large plate of green beans. When I pushed the turkey to the side to eat the stuffing, all two tablespoons full I had to laugh at that. The chicken was 13.99 and the turkey was 9.99. The food was good witht he exception of the beans. Some strange seasoning on them. Was dissapointed that no bread or butter came with the meal either. I do get a small plate turkey dinner at a local restaurant for the same price, and it comes with soup or salad, two sides in additon to the stuffing, bread/butter and pudding for dessert. I was still hungry after dinner since I didn't eat the beans, so I got a slice of chocolate cake. Would have been better if it didn't have a "refrigerator" taste. I'm guessing it's not coverred in the refrigerator. Service was good, she seems new and nervous, but very friendly and food came quickly. Checked out the hot buffet before leaving, and it looked good. Thinking about going back next Saturday to give that a try. Nice selection of meats, seafood, salad, sides etc. and dessert.

It's surprising that this place even has three stars - it's just dreadful. All the food is frozen, tasteless and at some times, undercooked. It's not the cleanest or visually attractive restaurant, either. This place should be shut down - for real.

Ate there for Mothers Day. Was there at 6pm and was surprised they still had buffet since I thought it would only be at breakfast/lunch on Sun. Was pleasantly surprised. The prime rib was excellent as were the crab legs. The Mac and cheese was a real hit with my son (homemade). My husband ordered a meal, not the buffet, and received a generous portion. The price was very reasonable and we will be returning there again. And no I do not know the owners!

Every time I come to this restaurant I am disappointed and today was no exception. Will not be returning again. The food was acceptable but the service was so disappointing. The staff is rude to the customers. I would not recommend coming here.

It's really sort of a bummer that this place gets a bad wrap. Of course it isn't what it used to be 20 years ago (tear tear sniff sniff) and it has lost its allure. Gone is the furniture store, the bakery and the huge crowds that filtered in year round. All that remains is a sad little gift shop, multiple banquet rooms and the restaurant itself. Visiting family, we decided to come here for breakfast before driving back to CT. I never remember this place having "bad" food and honestly, thought my breakfast was delicious. My aunt and uncle enjoyed their lunch - a wrap and a sandwich. I ordered a cheese omelet that came with toast and pork roll. $7. Prices are still great here. Everything was pretty great. My boyfriend who had never been here, went for the breakfast buffett and really seemed to enjoy his food. It was $50 including tip for 4 of us to eat which in CT, is unheard of. Service was great, the place was packed and our food came out super quick. No complaints.

New to the area and Went there for breakfast this past Sunday for the first time. I was blown away by how great it was! Best pancakes and breakfast sandwich I've had at a restaurant. The service was also fantastic. In and out within a half hour and it was priced on the low side. Definitely going back every Sunday!

Umm, just don't waste your time or money. We went here for their vegan options, which they have flashing on their exterior sign. If you've ever been to this area, you'd know vegan options are hard to find. I appreciate the effort, but food like this gives veganism a bad rap. First time, we had a large group of mixed people, vegan, vegetarian & meat eaters. The "creamy" vegan soup tasted like thick wallpaper glue. The vegan mushroom dish were some mushrooms with some tomato sauce & Daiya cheese thrown under the broiler. No flavor or creativity. On to the meat eaters, egg sandwiches were cold & server never came back to see how our food was so we could ask to get them heated. The one who ordered the pancakes & sausage didn't eat his sausage because it didn't appear to be cooked through. He did say the pancakes were okay. On the second, more recent visit, I ordered the vegan "chicken" cheese steak to go. This was made with the vegan meat crumbles & Daiya cheese. Again, no seasonings or flavor. It was served on what appeared to be a cold, dry, defrosted roll. It went in the trash. Sadly, we will not be returning.

I just got back home from Franconia Heritage Restaurant's breakfast buffet and all I can say is there's a lot left to be desired. Upon being seated, my son and I waited 15 minutes before a waitress finally came to take our drink order, I ordered coffee and my son ordered hot chocolate. When we first went up to the breakfast buffet I was shocked. The restaurant itself is decorated fairly nice but there area in the back corner of the restaurant where they keep their breakfast buffet looks like it belongs in a prison. The buffet tables were fairly stocked but there were a few areas that were empty and not restocked. The food itself wasn't too bad but there was a lot of room for improvement. My son got pancakes from the buffet that honestly could have been used for hockey pucks they were so hard. The toast they served was cold and rubbery and the bacon was like chewing on a rubber band in both elasticity as well as taste. The eggs, sausage, creamed beef, french toast and hash browns they offered however were all very good. Upon our second trip to the buffet, both my son and I needed refills on our drinks. When we got back to our table from our second trip to the buffet, our old plates were gone but our drinks were still empty. My son and I continued to eat our breakfast and ultimately waited 20 minutes before our waitress Sarah finally came to our table asking if we needed more to drink. Meanwhile, during the time we waited for our drinks, I was watching our waitress. The whole time we were waiting she had only brought drinks to one table and the rest of the time she spent talking with other waitresses and going in and out of the kitchen. By the time she finally did come to our table I had already finished my breakfast but my son asked for a glass of water. I also asked her for the check at this point too. another 10 minutes went by (while I watched her go back to the counter and chat with her waitress friends again) before my son finally got his water. When Sarah did finally bring us the check for our breakfast I noticed that she also overcharged me as well. She had charged my 8 year old son as an adult. I had about enough of this waitress at this point and went to the cashier. After pointing out the error she corrected the mistake which took about $7 off my check for our meal. The cashier never asked how our meal was as cashiers normally do, but I can guess that she could see that I wasn't very happy. I can say I honestly will not be returning to this restaurant as this area has much better food and service to offer.
