This is a little gem hidden in a strip mall in Fogelsville. We have had sushi a couple times here and we think it is much better than Teppan. Sushi was very fresh and rolls were nice and tight. My favorite is the Mexican roll...spicy and crunchy. Prices are decent too. California Roll is $4.25 as is 2 pieces of Salmon sushi. They also have Chinese food so if anyone in your party isn't into sushi, they have other options.

I know what you're thinking. It's in a strip mall. There are ANIMALS in the name of the restaurant... kitschy, cliche Asian ones at that. It can't be good. You're wrong. I can still remember the first time I came here. My friend and I had been working on his car (yes, really), and we kind of wanted a change of pace from our usual diner fare. I was a bit skeptical-- especially as traffic just happened to be backed up (accident on Route 100, I think?)-- but game. We arrived pretty late and kind of close to closing (maybe an hour away?), and the place was pretty quiet, but the service was warm, friendly, and fast. I think the owner and his wife make everything themselves-- and, if my experience is any indication, they start AFTER you place the order, not prior, as suggested by another reviewer. At any rate, we ordered a couple of rolls and sushi specials and were able to dig in shortly thereafter. The sushi was great, as was the company. And though I haven't made it back here with him yet, I've been three times since with my family. (This DESPITE no longer living in the state.) Which should really tell you something. We've had both sushi and Chinese here; everything is solid-- no misses in my book. The Chinese food isn't particularly greasy (plus points), and the flavors are spot-on, the portions large. The sushi itself is fresh and the sushi rice appropriately soft and sticky. They even try to get creative with their sushi, if admittedly within limits, by offering a number of interesting house specialty rolls. (BTW, you want to get the spicy rolls. The spicy mayo and tempura crunch work well together with the fresh fish.) They seem committed to doing their menu well and at really cheap prices. Look: Of course, I've had better sushi and Chinese food in my life. (I did spend my entire summer in Taiwan.) But, at this price point, this restaurant is really rockin', kitschy name, location, and all.

This food is simply not good. I would give it one star, but my husband likes the sushi. The general's tofu is not even spicy when you ask for extra extra spicy. My veggie dumplings were also undercooked. I've tried it three times, all bad.

Worst experience ever.. food was not good. Dining area was dark and dingy. Wonton strips on table tasted two weeks old. Don't waste your money. Go to Asian bistro or New china moon instead

I stop in when I'm working in the area. I usually get sushi for lunch. It's not a fancy place, but the food is good and the staff is friendly. I would recommend the Godzilla roll.

Avoid this place at all costs. Should have turned around the moment we walked in. We were in town while on vacation. On a Friday night, we arrived fairly late to the area. Not wanting to eat a large meal, I ordered sushi. My family ordered chinese food. The sushi was mediocre at best. The nori was chewy. It tasted like sushi that had been out on a buffet for hours. The salad was over dressed. The eel was luke warm and had very little sauce. Needless to say, a couple of hours after dinner I started violently throwing up. This continued throughout the night. I was sick all the next day, even after I had taken medication. My weekend getaway was ruined. The next day I called the restaurant. I explained who I was and what we had ordered. The women on the phone understood what I was saying up until the point that I said that they gave me food poisoning. She asked if I wanted to order more food. Hell no. You made me sick. Why would I want to order more food. I simply wanted to make sure that nobody else would get sick. Sushi was one of my favorite foods. This was such a bad experience, I don't know when I will feel like eating it again.

I ordered seafood fried rice ($12.99) and an eggdrop soup ($1.50). Food was typical take-out quality and the taste was a bit ordinary. I'm a bit surprised as so many people gave it a 4-star. Definitely not that quality based on my standards (I'm from Southern CA with lots of good food).

Got the Godzilla roll. The food was good but a couple things I found odd. The chopsticks I think cost them one penny. When I tried separating them all I got was two pointy sticks. Also, I would like to have gotten some additional wasabi, but the waitress was hiding in the back room the entire time I was eating.

From the perspective of someone who group up in New York city...this place isn't worth the money. I have tried this place 5-6 times over 5 years and each time i am disgusted by the food they serve. I have found that the best Chinese food in this area is in the city unfortunately and not in the good areas either.

Best sushi in the area. Priced just right. The ambience is not great, but you can do take-out for anything on the menu.

The Panda & Fish is a nice little Mom and Pop Asian restaurant. Simple décor, prompt and friendly service. The Owners children doing their homework on a table in the corner...... My first visit I had the salmon teriyaki Bento Box. Served with a nice portion of rice, three or four fair sized pieces of salmon, some California roll and a few fried dumplings. The salmon was served over stir fried vegetables that were the only disappointment of the meal. The three florets of broccoli were cold. I mean Ice cold. The rest of the vegetables were ok. The hot and sour soup was tasty but lacked the "tang" that I am accustomed too at restaurants in Northern NJ or in New York City. Still it was a good soup made with fresh mushrooms and large bits of tofu. The second night there I had the General Tsao's Chicken. I asked for it extra spicy and it was mild. It is, to be fair, rare that I actually get it extra spicy when requested even in Northern New Jersey. They brought me a small bowl of chili oil and peppers and that helped bring the heat up. Again the broccoli was cold. I know they add it at the last minute but they have to get it hot. It is a shock to the pallet when that happens. My third visit I again ordered a chicken dish, this time a chicken and scallops dish. Again I asked for extra spicy and though they came closer they still missed the target. Again, not unusual. This dish was very tasty and the vegetables crisp and crunchy and hot. There was no broccoli in this dish. All in all the food was pleasant but unexceptional. The server, wife of the owner/co-owner, was very nice and attentive and the place was a comfortable place for a traveler to enjoy a quiet meal. Would it be successful in North Jersey (my measure for Italian, Japanese and Chinese restaurants)? No. There are too many very good Asian restaurants in North Jersey. This would be in the bottom half to be sure. However, it is fairly good for a place outside of a Major Metropolitan area.

I think this place is pretty good - it is BYOB, just like most other Chinese restaurants in the area. I had the sesame chicken and it was pretty respectable. Also a good spot for lunch, and they deliver to my work which is always a plus since it's often hard for me to get out on my lunch break.

Panda--but not a Giant Panda The narrow restaurant is tucked in a strip mall, with seating for 30-40 people (about the size of a Taco Bell). Food: I order the "Mini Boat for One" ($21.95). The order includes 4 Sushi, 6 Sashimi, 1 California Roll, and 1 Dragon roll (about 20 pieces total). The chef selects all items (sushi, sashimi, etc.), and most likely, the food is prepared early because it was served in less than 10 minutes. Again, like Taco Bell--but with raw stuff. Uhh . . . wait, that is a LOT like Taco Bell! Anyway, the food did not taste bad--it just wasn't "interesting". Ambiance: None (see Taco Bell reference). Still, if you sit in a booth, the seat back is shared with the table behind. If a "Fidgety Frieda" sits in the booth behind you, she'll buck you back-and-forth like a pack mule. Service: Extremely fast, but no alcohol is served. Bummer. I enjoy a warm Sake or icy Asahi (Sake Bombs!) with sushi. Overall: Cheap, quick sushi in a non-flashy restaurant. I'll post a follow-up if the sashimi takes a turn for the worse in a few hours. Otherwise, if you really need a sushi fix, give Panda & Fish a try . . . but there is a Taco Bell down the street. :-)

We really enjoyed the sushi here. Very plain - no atmosphere, but good food. We did not eat Chinese food, but the next table did and the portions were quite generous.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
