The Fairlane is a very small locals spot with 5 tables and 10 seats at the counter. They have all the normal breakfast options and the food is decent. I had a western omlette when I was there this past weekend. It was filled with fresh peppers & onions. The home fries were deep fried I think and way over done. The total for my girlfriend and I was about $18. I won't go out of my way to stop at the Fairlane but I wouldn't tell you not to try it for yourself.

All sorts of great food. The atmosphere was also really cozy, pleasant and the waitstaff was nice to be around. I don't understand the bad reviews.. Must've hit a bad day. The only thing I'd like is if they accepted credit.

I'd like to nominate the Fairlane Grill getting a 4/5 star rating on Yelp as the 8th wonder of the world. It's absolutely absurd that people would enjoy a meal here. I went this morning with my wife after reading the Yelp praises. I ordered the sausage gravy and biscuits and my wife ordered a bacon omelet, both with homefries. The "homefries" were simply huge, fried wedges of potatoes, nothing like actual homefries. The onions I ordered with mine (about 3 times more than anyone would have wanted) were simply grilled onions strewn atop the potato wedges. The sausage gravy and biscuits were a bit less disappointing. There must have been the same amount of red bell pepper in the gravy as sausage because the flavor was overwhelmingly bell pepper (not how sausage gravy is supposed to be). The most egregious part of our order was my wife's omelet. It was pretty greasy which is probably why she only was able to eat about a third of it. I figured I'd eat some of it since I was tired of looking at what was on my plate. The first fork full I retrieved exposed a huge pocket of the omelet which was completely uncooked. This marked the end of my meal. When the waitress came over to ask if we were all done, I showed her the section of omelet which was completely raw egg. She looked at it and oddly didn't offer an apology, but just said "I wouldn't eat that in a million years." Ha! She took it off the bill, but I would have expected the same from anyone in their right mind. Both of us felt sick within 60 seconds of starting our meal. Don't go here unless you want to get food poisoning.

Was introduced to this place years ago by a high school friend, and have been back at least eight or nine times since then. The food is good; it's not cutting-edge or any other such crap, but simply genuinely good diner breakfasts. I've tried everything from pancakes to omelets here and never gone away hungry or displeased. Also, this is one of a relative handful of places where I know I can walk in, order a cup of black coffee, and consistently get something which is not only drinkable but also pleasant. I wish it were bigger, because I'm not keen on waiting to get in, but coming at off-peak hours as I usually do, it's never been much of a problem.

My favorite breakfast spot. It can be difficult to get a seat on the weekends, but the turn over is fairly quick. We usually either go very early or later. It's a classic dinner. Great pancakes, great eggs - I an always happy with my choice. Luckily, I'm usually there with my family so, I can grab a little of what ever I didn't order. The only thing I don't love is the coffee. I am a kind of a coffee snob, so maybe you'll like it. And remember at Fairlane, coffee is alway free for Johnny Law.

I LOVE THIS PLACE! Every time I eat here I can't help but flashback to my childhood, when I would eat lunch at the Woolworths counter with my Nana. I love jumping out of bed on a Saturday or Sunday morning and meeting a friend for breakast at Fairlane. It's cute, the food is good and the waitresses are very nice. All in all, a great breakfast spot.

We have been going to the Fairlane for a long time. Jerry is great along with the rest of the staff. Go for breakfast go for lunch. Just go. We moved up to Wayne NJ and today my wife and I took a road trip to the Fairlane. Great stuff. Friendly atmosphere you will like it.

I literally live about 100 yds. from this little diner and it is great. So please, DON'T GO to the Fairlane. I want the line that sometimes snakes around the corner to disappear! I love being able to walk there and dive into their breakfast menu. Killer legit milkshakes too. My only real complaint: I wish they were open a little later than 2:30 pm.

Great little diner - bring your appetite and cash (no credit cards here). I came here for breakfast. Small and cozy interior, and just has a great feel, as if you're in your grandparents kitchen eating breakfast with family. Quick to give you a great cup of coffee. Everyone's meal looks and smells amazing. I went with a roasted pepper and provolone omelette, side of home fries with onions, bacon, and rye toast. Omelette was cooked perfectly, and rolled up expertly. Peppers tasted sweet and fresh, just the right amount of melted provolone inside. Bacon cooked right between chewy and crispy, with great flavor. Rye toast was thick cut, came out with the right amount of butter, and was as good a marbled rye as you can find! But the best part of this meal, hands down, was the homefries. These were THE BEST homefries I've ever had. Crispy on the outside, soft and warm on the inside, seasoned just right. The fried onions were chopped and carmelized, giving a great mix of zing and sweet as the perfect addition to the potatoes. I could eat a whole plate of just these homefries. Amazing spot, lunch menu looked impressive too. Can't wait to go back!

Great breakfast and lunch place. Lovely little corner diner with good coffee and great staff. Not too big but can sit at counter. All kinds of great food to pick from. Some are full of cholesterol - grilled cheese with bacon. Has all the expected diner fare and usually a few specials daily. Not the cheapest around but I don't mind paying if I enjoy the food and the people.

Under no circumstances eat at this charming, friendly, time machine of a diner with fantastic food and lovely waitresses and amazingly tasty shakes. Do not go! It is busy enough and small enough...if you all start storming it's doors I will never be able to get in even at the half hour before closing! Do you hear me? I don't want you to taste a cheeseburger as it is meant to be tasted with perfectly toasted crinkle fries, real (and green) leaf lettuce, thinly sliced red onion, and a red tomato slab in a cute plastic basket with wax paper liner on a table of vintage boomerang formica surrounded by swell old photos and bric-a-brac. Even the 1960's wood paneling - in excellent condition - and faux marble floors - always spotless - should be denied to you. Go away. In fact , don't you dare read this review. Move on to something else...nothign to see here. I won't mention the specials....too tasty...or (again)...the vanilla shakes with chunks of oreo....no I won't do it. GO!

We have found our breakfast spot in Glenside. I thought maybe we had to trek out to Jenkintown, but that is not the case anymore. I was in the mood for a big breakfast this past Saturday morning and my husband obliged with a trip to the Fairlane grill. I had warned him that we might have to wait given other reviewers comments, but I was willing to check it out. We got there just in time to grab the last open booth and ordered a cheese omelet and a stack of cinnamon sugar pancakes to split. The pancakes happened to be the best I have had, in my memory. The cakes were so fluffy and the cinnamon sugar so tasty, that they hardly needed the syrup provided on the table. The omelet was quite good as well, and I'm glad we went with the swirled rye toast which was a perfect accompaniment to the loads of American cheese in the middle of the eggs. Yum. Breakfast is served until noon on the weekends, and I will be back soon!

Just went there for lunch for the first time. I had the grilled cheese BLT. Perhaps a shade too much mayo but other than that, a fantastic sandwich. It come with chips. You can pay extra for fries. After having their home fries at breakfast, my hopes aren't too high so I just had the chips. I should have asked where they get their chips because they were surprisingly great. I really really like Fairlane Grill. I am excited to finally find a takeout place in Glenside that holds its own with my lofty Long Island standards. I cannot make the leap and give it five stars because if I was traveling to the area, I wouldn't HAVE to stop there, like In-N-Out Burger when I'm in California. Fairlane Grill is the very top of 4 stars for me. It is the cutoff. Having said that, I'm kinda considering going again for lunch tomorrow.

For me, the Fairlane is a major trip down memory lane. I grew up on the street it is located. It was "Hazell's" back then. On Sundays, my parents would give me .75 cents to get the Sunday Bulletin, Inquirer and with the remaining .25 cents I could get a double dip Abbotts Ice Cream cone. I love going to the Fairlane because it is about 75% the same as it was in the 60's. I especially like to see the old stainless steel syrup pumps behind the counter. The food is good here. Pretty standard breakfast selection. I'll never understand why people wait in line for eggs, bacon and pancakes etc. but they do. I recommend trying to go during off hours. It's a fun place with good service and a real piece of 60's style dining.

Fantastic Sunday breakfast. Loaded omelet, huge pancakes, ham steak, bacon. So many diners are greasy. Not this one. Go, try it.

Great breakfast/brunch spot! Cute little diner. It gets crowded, so arrive early. Usually the wait, even when crowded, is only about 15 minutes. Their menu is simple, but delish. The servers are very nice and friendly. Renee especially! Cash only!

Had breakfast here this morning...what a great breakfast joint. I got a ham & cheese omelet..huge portion, perfect home fries and toast. My two children shared a short stack of pancakes and french toast...still a ton of food! My husband got the cream and biscuits, it was so good...all nicely made. The waitress was nice, it was a pleasant diner experience even with a little wait for a booth. It's small and not open past Noon on Sunday but we got in just in time to enjoy it. I wish we lived closer!

Fairlane is a great classic style diner. The diner is very small with only a counter and 5 or 6 booths and because of that the line can go outside and wrap around the corner. The breakfast at Fairlane is always excellent and Sunday mornings is often when you'll encounter a long wait. The lunch options at Fairlane are also very good, although I'm particular to the plain old cheeseburger. It is always cooked just perfectly and tastes great.

Five stars for consistently good food and kind service. The owner is friendly and frankly, gorgeous. But hey that a great restaurant does not make. The food is always good and they have everything you'd expect for breakfast. They also serve some items you don't always find on diner menus. It would be nice if they had a bigger location, but if you only have to wait a few minutes for a seat, it's well worth it. When I was last there, a reporter from KYW TV was doing a report on Fairlane as one of their favorite places to eat. Well-deserved coverage.

This place is delicious! Friendly staff and great food. Only deaw back is it's really small and fills up REALLY fast so god help you if you go and they are busy. The peopl ewho are waiting basically have to stand over you while you wat if your sitting near the door. Its a bit of a mess. BUT the foo is worth it :) great milk shakes too!

  • Carrie E.

Ya gotta eat breakfast, right? Oh, don't give me that mess about only having black coffee and a ciggie in the am. That is just silly. This is where real men and women go to eat their first meal of the day. That is, as long as said men and women don't mind waiting outside for a table or seat at the counter, as it's super small and turnover is pretty slow. But before you huff & puff and end up grabbing a scone at Starbucks, just hold your horses. Because the food here is worth waiting for. They make the best pancakes around (cinnamon sugar = pure love AND they'll even make them in a Mickey Mouse shape if you ask nicely. The kids love 'em, and so do I.). French toast? Delish. And if you like eggs, they've got those too, but when I'm at a diner I like to shovel as many carbs down my piehole as possible. My husband likes the omelettes, though, so you should try one if you need protein first thing. Service with a smile, retro decor and sweet, sweet sugary sweetness first thing in the morning. I say yes.

Just look at the old B&W TV (never seen the thing turned on but it's gotta be black and white) in the corner when you walk in and you know this diner oozes old-school 50's nostalgia almost as much as it embraces the locals that frequent Fairlane; waitresses are on a first-name basis with the loners at the bar and families alike. Think standard diner fare as far as the menu goes, nothing signature; they do rock an excellent marble rye for some of their grilled sandwiches (ruben is tops) and make a mean shake. Breakfast is done at noon and they're only open until 2:30 so get it early; this joint is small (I'm talking four booths and a table plus bar seating) but I've been lucky. A true neighborhood gem worth checking out.

Don't normally post reviews but this little corner diner is outstanding. Stopped for breakfast while on a business trip. Nothing fancy but a wide range of down home, well prepared breakfast selections for everyone. Very hearty portions at very reasonable prices. Service can't be any more courteous and accommodating. Don't miss this gem of a diner!

  • Jordan S.

I love this place. I've never had anything bad! The home fries with fries onions are a must get, and every menu special I've tried has always been awesome. Pancakes are usually the way to go for breakfast but it's all good. The only downside is the wait sometimes (especially when it's cold out and you have to stand outside) but the wait is always worth it. What a treat.

  • Nick M.

The food is always excellent and soups are home made. The size of the venue is its only limitation. But even if you must wait till be seated it is well worth you time. Remember, cash only here.

Breakfast this morning was on point! I got an omelette that was done perfectly-not dried out, not too wet. The home fries were delicious, even the toast was good! My friend had the sausage, biscuits and gravy that looked amazing. Prices were decent, coffee was plentiful. The place is small so I can see that lines have the potential to get out of hand. Cash only- they make a point to post that everywhere so no pulling out the plastic. Parking is all street parking in a residential area. Highly recommended. They don't have evening hours...so think breakfast/lunch.

Charming little place, very cozy and simple. I had the Fairlane burger, which was cooked very well (I ordered it medium) and glazed with a delicious sauce and served with chips and a pickle spear. Great choice and very affordable.

This place is amazing and adorable! We've been coming every weekend since moving to the Flourtown area and always have a great experience. The staff is friendly, attentive, and service is speedy - the food always hot and fresh. Don't forget cash! No cards here. Well worth the trip! (We haven't yet tried their milkshakes, but im positive they won't dissapoint!)

Nice neighborhood joint for breakfast and lunch. Cheerful place both in terms of the people and the surroundings. Big windows and good natural light. Good food and service. I have one major complaint about this place: the home fries are not good. They come out crusted with a spicy dark brown crust, and the insides are mushy. My wife says the home fries are deep-fried, not prepared on the grill. She didn't like the potatoes, either. Plus a minor complaint: the seat cushion at my booth had material that was torn, and then taped back together with duct tape or cloth tape. I will continue to go to this cute little restaurant in my community, but I will avoid the home fries.
