My wife and I planned a bicycle trip from Oil City to Emlenton on the Allegheny River Trail. As we searched for lodging options, the closest to the trail was the Barnard House. We are new to the B&B scene. Well, we were not disappointed. The hosts Cathy and Paul were very gracious . They put us at ease immediately and were very knowledgeable of the local area. If you are looking for spit and polish, go stay at a holiday inn. If you want quaint and quirky with a great front porch, stay at this spot right on the river. The bed was comfortable . The old house has character. They are still finishing up renovations, but that didn't bother us. We live in an old house and the work never ends.The chocolate dipped strawberries in the room were a nice treat. The breakfast was very good. Fruit, fresh ground coffee, bacon, waffles, and real maple syrup. Overall a great place to spend a restful evening after a great trail ride. We felt right at home.
