Delicious beer: Check Friendly staff: Check Fun/interactive tour: Check Not only does Weyerbacher make incredible beer, but their tap selection is huge and their beers are great (and strong, just be careful if you're driving)! Samples and the tour is free and very informative. They also have beer available for growler fills, bottled beer, and memorabilia. So what are you waiting for??

After drinking their beers for over 6 years in NJ, I finally managed to get my butt over to Weyerbacher brewery, and boy am I glad I went. Here's the process: you walk in, show ID, get a wristband good for 6 free samples, and go on a brewery tour. The tour was very informative and great for first timers, since they went into detail about their different styles, how it's brewed, how to serve it, and a nice history of the brewery itself. The bar area is great - there's about 20 taps and a bunch of corked & caged bottles for sampling (many taps are doubled, so generally about 10-15 beers on at a time), including a lot of rare beers and one-offs. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful, and know their product quite well - probably because they're the ones who brewed it. I like my beers big, bold, and full of flavor, everything they do perfectly here. Barrel aged stuff? They got it. Sours, or light and refreshing beers? Got that too. They even have some of the best IPA's around the area, if that's your thing. There's a nice gift shop with all sorts of Weyerbacher merch for sale, and if you want any beer to take with you, it can be had at a decent discount as well. Oh, and be warned, a lot of their beers are high ABV (some 11%), so if you're a 5'8 scrawny person who gets buzzed off a single beer, these things will likely destroy you, so please be safe if you're driving. I'll be making another pilgrimage here, hopefully soon, and with reinforcements!

Visited the Weyerbacher Tap room today and it was fantastic. Worth the drive. Very knowledgeable and helpful. Bar tender was great. Very helpful with explaining the science as well as creativity of the beer making process. Will definitely go again and of course the beer was good.

I sampled the 'Tango' beer, which I enjoyed, then I tried the Blasphemy (great name) but it was too strong-tasting for me. They still have many more that I could have tried but they will have to wait until next time. The music is quite bad, dance-pop, so I am taking off a star.

This was such an awesome brewery! Everyone was super friendly and I love that they offer 4 oz pours so you can pretty much try all of their beers. This is just a tasting room so there's no food. I assume you can bring your own food in. They also have a vending machine and had big bowls of pretzels out. We went on a Friday afternoon and did their Brewery Tour at 5:30pm. The tour was super casual and the girl did know her beer knowledge. It was awesome to see their bottling center. It wasn't one of the better tours I've been to, but it was decent. I planned to try more beers but just ended up have 4 oz pours of their Imperial Pumpkin beer. It's my favorite!!! The boyfriend tried a few beers and loved them all. You can also purchase beers to go here, it's awesome because they range from $1.50 and up and you're basically creating your own 6 pack. Awesome place!

. Weyerbacher now sells pints. Great! Unlike most small breweries weyerbacher has a huge variety in f brews. From IPAs to Flemish sours it would be difficult to come here and not find something enjoyable. I recommend trying the tour.

Finally made it here to start my friends birthday celebration! I loved the atmosphere. Glad we took the tour- the guide was great and it really makes you appreciate what you're drinking. We hung out for while at the bar trying different beers. I love that they have different sizes you can try, but we were all very disappointed they didn't offer flights of samples. They had a cool looking food truck, that we will definitely be utilizing on our next visit!

  • Dennis W.

I took the tour and was not impressed. The girl seemed less knowledgeable than I would have expected. If they added a food menu, just some appetizers instead of vending machines it would be appreciated. They do have a lot of beers, but the whole experience left something to be desired.

Wonderful brewery with top-notch beers of all varieties! Beautiful set up and tap room. They just opened new taproom in spring of 2015 and it shows. New car smell was in the air. Highly recommend this as a stop for craft beer aficionados. Camera storage was full but hopefully others post pics of new interior. Great brews, great staff, exceptional business.

The winter ale is one of my favorite winter beers. With that said I am strictly giving a one star review based on the fact that they charge more for a case a beer at the brewery than what I can get it for at the local distributor. This makes absolutely no sense to me and I feel like they are ripping their customers off and taking advantage of unsuspecting visitors. BUYER BEWARE!

I'v got to preface this review with the fact that I'm not the biggest fan of beer, with that being said though I still really loved this place. A group of 9 of us went and on entering they give you a wrist band. The band has 5 tabs on it, which you can redeem for 5 free samples of beer. My favourites were insanity and old heathen. The company also take you on a tour of the brewery, sharing fun facts of how they make the beer and the history behind it. There's really no pressure to buy any beer but on the day we went if you bought even one bottle they gave you a four pack of the pumpkin spice ale for free. The bathrooms were surprisingly clean and the general atmosphere in the place was good. I'd definitely go back if I was visiting Easton again.

Amazing production from a small (in size only) brewery! No eats but great beer! The tasters are affordable so you can try all the selections. No real food so be careful that the higher gravity beers don't sneak up on you. The merchandise they sell is unique and affordable. Especially the cool dog leashes and collars. And speaking of dogs, at their outdoor events dogs are welcome. The wife, dog and I enjoyed their 20th year celebration even though it was raining. I have a feeling I will be taking a special trip up to Weyerbacher some time soon!

  • Liz W.

Awesome beers at decent prices. Only reason it's not 5 stars is because it's about 100° degrees outside and there aren't even any fans inside! It's warm, and the beers make it warmer!

Weyerbacher is one of my favorite breweries. On a recent trip down to Hershey, PA I was delighted to see that Weyerbacher was only a slight deviation from our route. Score! Bar / Samples: Tastings are complimentary. Upon showing your ID you will receive a wristband with 6 numbered tabs. Each tab can be removed for a tasting. If you're not that familiar with Weyerbacher understand one thing - They're famous for their high ABV beers. This is somehting to consider if you have a low tolereance. Pace yourself. Rest assured though that there are many beers to choose from (Approximately 20 taps). You should be able to find a beer to match pretty much any style. I personally recommend enjoying 5 of the 6 samples (2.5 oz) prior to the tour to allow yourself time to dispose of the alcohol before leaving. The bar is fairly large so even when it's crowded you shouldn't have much difficulty getting a bartender to take care of you. The decor is nothing special - Warehousey, surrounded by items for purchase (glasses. t-shirts, etc). Whatever. Remember why you're here. Tour: You'll sign-up for a tour when you get your tasting bracelet. Tours are about 45 minutes long and occur about every hour. Truthfully, if you've seen one brewery you've seen them all but some things standout. You'll be impressed by the knowledge and passion of the tour guides. These folks are not going through the motions. They genuinely love talking about beer. I asked a question on the barrel aging process and was impressed that the tour guide knew the answer. Quite a bit of time is spent on how to properly drink beer (temperature, glass style, etc.). It's amazing how many people don't understand that these subtleties make a huge difference. Of all the beer tours i've taken this is the only one that took time to teach how to properly drink beer. Beer Recommendations: Heresey - Bourbon barrel aged imperial stout. One of my favorites. Taste of vanilla, chocolate and coffee. Smooth but with bite. Absolutely delicious! 8.2% ABV. Insanity - Barleywine aged in bourbon barrels. You can definitely taste the bourbon in this one. Nice flavor - oak, vanilla. Very strong. 11% Imperial Pumpkin - Spicy pumpkin ale. You can definitely taste an excellent blend of pumpkin and caramel in this one. 8% Double Simcoe IPA - A double IPA brewed with simcoe hops. Full flavored and very hoppy. 9% These are just personal recommendations but these guys don't make a bad brew. You'll enjoy everything. 5 stars. If you love really good high ABV beer, Weyerbacher Brewery is a must. Could they have a nice brewpub? Yeah that would be nice, but in the end, it's always about the beer. Nobody does it better in the Northeast.

Really great experience at the brewery. Decided to go on a nice Saturday for the 1:00PM tour. Made it there at about 12:58 will some time to spare. There is the shipping entrance and the visitors entrance, which is where you need to go. its of parking. The tour is pretty informal and lasts about 20-30 minutes Id say. If you walk in late, you can join "the group". The tour tells a little about the history of the brewery and location. They also explain how beer is made and what is added or left out at certain times during the brewing process to create certain beers. Very informative. As others mentioned, though we were not given any sort of band and told about any samples whatsoever as others suggested. I am not sure if they stopped doing that or what, but our hands were stamped (no ID checking, on any of us, 35, 33 and 23 years old) and we just hung around a bit until the tour started. Bathrooms were super clean. Beer is great as always if you've ever had some of their stuff. Some taps offer watered down beer, not this place. All beer was fresh and carbonated just as if you were to crack open a bottle. A wide selection, from Quads, to IPAs to lighter beers, such a 3.9% ABV Blood Orange infused one. I am a quad guy and can drink their Quad and Blasphemy all day. Prices were amazing...offered in 4 ounce glass or 12 ounces glasses. The prices depends on what beer you get with the 4 ounce ranging from $1.50 - $2.50, and the 12 ounce ranging from $4-6 (I think). We loaded up on the 4 ounces just to have a variety. The staff there was helpful, friendly and informative. There is some bar stool seating as well as a few standing tables. Off to the side there are some souvenirs for sale...tshirts and glasses. I ended up getting a goblet glass for $7. Oh yeah, they do sell beer to go.....whodathunk (sarcasm). You can have the bar staff fill up a growler for you (prices were very reasonable), or buy per bottle. Another yelper gave this place a bad review because the prices were more here than in a beer store. I think that is because they sell beer per bottle. All is all a great experience, the no free beer thing was bleh...but at the 4 ounce prices, I couldn't complain. I saw them giving little tastes in tiny mouthwash-sized cups, so tasting may have been allowed. I wouldn't let this ruin an overall great experience though.. Also, at the end, we got the wrong receipt..but I checked my account a few days later and crunched some numbers and we were charged the appropriate amount...so Mr. Edward Lyons, I have your receipt if you need it :)...one more thing..SERVE FOOD DAMNIT...the free pretzels are great, but some bar food, would definitely make people stay a bit longer and drink more = more sales!! Everyone wins. I know its not as easy as it sounds...kitchen, more workers, food safety, etc...or... tip off a good food truck to camp out in front of the place. Win, win, win...You're welcome ...

We went for the 20th anniversary celebration of Weyerbacher. they switched from beer tasting to a Brewery pub. They had four tables that you could stand at and about 8 bar stools surrounding a huge bar. they advertised a band which was excellent, and a food truck to serve food. the food truck never showed. Extremely disappointing experience. nothing like it was the last time we went before they changed everything. we will not go back. you used to be able to check off 6 beers that you would like to taste with little tiny cups. it was an extremely enjoyable experience. Too bad.extremely disappointing experience.

By far my favorite brewery. They make great beers and their imperial pumpkin is to die for. As far as the brewery goes they have a nice new tasting room which is very big right in the center of the brew house. They just recently upgraded facilities so it is much bigger. Their brew tour is state of the art and you will learn a lot and even get to taste a beer at the end. No real food but there are plenty of restaurants near by with good food.

Allow me to say that I have a certification in wine, spirits, and beer. So I know my stuff. I'm from California and visited Weyerbacher with my Wife. Been to breweries all over the U.S. And I enjoy Weyerbacher beers. However there's not too much that surprises me about brewery visits. Hands down this place was about the employees and the environment they create for visitors. Don't get me wrong, beer is good, but the employees passion about their craft beer in a state that's used to drinking Labatts, Yuengling, and coors light was a breath of fresh air. Beer prices were great, great tour guide, and we walked out of there glad we went. Good job Weyerbacher! Got my growler and I'm a happy man

Hard to find, small front in a large wear house. Adults all get carded and you get to wear a green bracelet and sample all the beers, on tap and in the bottle. We had a great tour by a social worker! Worth a stop on your beer tour!

This is a hasty review of Weyerbacher's Merry Monks "beer". They call this Belgian style. Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact I would call this a lie. I wouldn't have bought this if it hadn't been on display with other, real Belgian beers in the imported section of the Hopewell Township beer distributor Hopewell Beverage near Aliquippa. I'm guessing they were paid to try to fool the public (which I was). And sorry to say, this is anything but a Belgian beer. Its 12 oz of beer flavored sugar. Sweet beyond description with not a hint of its braggings on the box. VERY, VERY sorry I bought it. Not disgusting, but close.

Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, willing to assist you with any question you may have about their creative selection of beers. Overall, an excellent collection of brews, always stocked with new beers to try (6 samples per person). You can also purchase the brew by growler, keg or individual bottles and it always tastes fresh. The tour is also free and informative. The brewery itself is easy to locate in Easton, PA, right off of route 78, with parking right outside the establishment. Definitely a must see if you are driving through the area and enjoy tasty, craft-made beer.

Amazing place to visit. I love taste testing the new seasonal brews, they let you sample 6 2oz shots of each. Some I probably would've never bought if I hadn't tried. Tarte Nouveau for example. Tastes almost like wine but it is a beer. Insanity!

It doesn't hurt that I'm a huge fan of their beers in general Finally made a trip out to their brewery, if you've never been on a tour before its a great, thorough explanation of the process I found that the tour guide kept it interesting and answered everyone's questions so it made it a bit different Got to try whatever we wanted--go easy on the imperial stouts! and grabbed some large format beers that are not widely distributed overall a great experience/I would bring people back We went on a random Saturday in March, I could imagine it gets quite crowded during high season Summer-October so plan accordingly

definite yes. weyerbacher beers are awesome. the free tour and tasting at the brewery is beyond awesome. lot's of varieties on tap to try in 2-oz. pours. as many times as you want. the 30-45min tour was really informative, a bit interactive, and overall upbeat. beers sold by the bottle (awesome that you don't have to purchase a whole case), some available in growlers, mini kegs, and full kegs as well. definitely worth a visit. then swing by Two Rivers for a bite to eat and a variety of craft beer options. it'll be a nice beer-y day trip once Two Rivers gets their brewery running. ps- please dont be the dude/ lady/ couple who brings three obnoxious children to a brewery tour/ tasting. seriously.

My 100th review!!! Cue the trumpets and release the doves. So I live in Portland, OR. It is also known as Beervana. You are probably wondering what I am doing going to a brewery across the country? I love all the beer that the Pacific Northwest has to offer, but saddened by the fact that we cannot get Weyerbacher out there. This is one of my favorite American breweries and it is located in Pennsylvania, not one of my favorite states. That isn't really relevant. I just wanted to type it though. Makes me feel better. So this trip to Weyerbacher with a friend and fellow beer enthusiast has been in the works for years. When I knew I was going back east for a few days, this was one of the first things I planned on doing. I'm glad because it was well worth the hour drive and I plan on going back the next time I'm back for a visit. We went for the 12:30 tour. Tours are held on Saturday's and they last roughly 15-20 minutes. Before the tour starts you are free to sample everything they have to offer. The staff is super friendly and will let you try as much or as little as you want. The woman who was pouring for us (I didn't get her name) actually came up to us and asked if we wanted to sample anything. We figured we would go for the tour and sample after. Well, we sampled before and after and that was Ok by us. The tour was very informative. Some history on Weyerbacher and the brewing process was explained thoroughly. Questions were asked and answered and then it was back up front for the remainder of the sampling before it was time to purchase the beer we wanted. Pennsylvania law states that if you buy beer you can't get anything smaller than a case. A case of a single type of beer is $29. If you want to mix and match, beers can be anywhere from 10 cents additional up to $1.75 additional for the smaller batch beers. We ended up doing a mix and match and the case set us back around $38 which my friend and I split. Hopefully I can get a few of those in my suitcase to take back to Oregon with me. This place is definitely worthy of a 5 star review. Weyerbacher is a 5 star operation even though they don't distribute out to Oregon. I still have a reason to come back east, so I won't hold it against them.

  • J P.

yes, we really enjoyed this place. good beer. good service. no charge for tastings. you can buy what you want by the bottle! looking forward to visiting once again.

I had a great time here doing the tour and tasting! The tour was very informative and I'm really glad the brewery is continuing to expand because they make fantastic beers. They have at least 10 beers to sample and they're all amazing. The tasting is free too, which is definitely an added bonus. Really though, there's no downside to stopping here if you like beer at all.

A friend and I popped in here on 7/21, while en route to New Jersey to catch a concert, totally on a whim...and it was well worth the last-second decision. Weyerbacher is located in a fairly nondescript warehouse with "WATCH OUT FOR FORKLIFTS" signs scattered throughout the parking lot. When you walk in the front door, you're greeted by a big bar area (standing room only, if my memory serves me correctly) with about 20 taps. High on the wall to your right is all the beer options, with descriptions of the taste and alcohol content listed. Behind the bar is oodles of warehouse space, rafter after rafter filled with cases of beer. Around the back/back-left of the bar are some shelves with merchandise. Beyond those racks on the left was open area where forklifts were occasionally zipping by. Sampling is FREE (yes!), and you get six samples, provided you have valid ID. The guy who greeted us at the bar was friendly and explained the sampling process to us. He kept coming back to ask us what we thought, and he engaged us in plenty of small talk as well (mostly about where we were from, and where we were going). Samples were on the smaller side (2.5 ounces), but definitely enough to form an opinion on each brew. Bowls of pretzels lined the bar for some palate-cleansing as well. As far as I could tell, they didn't serve food there. Not that we cared, obviously. Our bartender was NOT stingy with the samples. He snuck us two additional free samples. One was an "orange and black," a mixture of their pumpkin ale and one of their porters. The other was their Double Simcoe IPA, straight out of the bottle, and unfiltered on top of that. When we asked for our Double Simcoe IPA as a sample, he gladly served us the filtered stuff from the tap, but said we absolutely HAD to try the unfiltered version, and cracked open the bottle on the spot without hesitation. If he was trying to make an impression on us, he did a great job of it. We only had about 45 minutes to kill, so we opted for sampling and merchandise over a tour. I bought two sick-looking pint glasses for $5 apiece (one of which was a frosted glass with the jester design on it). My friend bought a bomber of Tiny, and an empty two-liter growler (with the company logo on it). The price on the growler? FOUR MEASLY BUCKS. What a bargain! Free samples, reasonably-priced merchandise, friendly staff...this is an easy five stars. Weyerbacher, you shall see me again!

This place makes some of the best beers I've ever had! Unfortunately, I didn't go on a tour, but I did spend a good amount of time in their tasting room sipping endless amounts of beer before deciding which ones I should take home with me. The employees are friendly and are very knowledgeable about the beers, and they sell their beers by the bottle, so you can mix and match whatever you like. I would definitely recommend checking this place out if you're in the area (even though it's kind of in a weird location and looks like a manufacturing warehouse from the outside).

    (4)
  • D.R. S.

Unique experience! Don't let the lack of parking discourage you from going inside. Big bar with 20+ taps sitting in the middle of a warehouse. Sample some of the areas strongest (and best) beers while Forklifts zip around in the background. After you are done sampling buy beer to go at a nice discounts. It doesn't get more blue-collar than this!

While I didn't discover a new 'favorite' beer while on a recent Friday night tasting and tour expedition, it was a visit I will not forget easily. My two brothers and I spent the better part of two hours tasting almost a dozen of their brews. We may have spent longer, but we were expected to be home by 7. The setup is very informal, which I thought was great. A tasting area casually placed up front with the 'packing' area directly in front of us, and vats of almost completed beverages just beyond that. The tasting area comes equipped with papers and pencils so you can jot down your notes regarding each item tasted. If (and this is a big IF) you can read your writing after the evening is over, you have a handy little cheat sheet if you want to take home some libations in either bottles, growlers, or kegs. Some of the words I wrote legibly were: drinkable, flat, grapefruity, coffeeish, dark, clovey, great front-end, dark (again), chocolate, winish, fruity, hoppy and belgium. My favorite illegible word was "barroux." I honestly have not idea what i was going for on that one. Coincidentally, that name of that beer that I was jotting "barroux" next to is named "Blithering Idiot." Yeah, we took a growler of that home with us. We also bought a growler of Merry Monks Ale, and took a large bottle of Sour Black. This is aged in Pinot Noir barrels...very tasty. Next time maybe we'll take some of the IPA's home, or something else...everything was really good...except for the pumpkin...the 3 of us agreed that that was the worst we tasted here. Regardless, if you are around the Easton/P'burg area, stop by and give them a visit. The tasting and the tour (which is pretty good also) is worth the drive to the south side.

Looking for something to do on a Fall Saturday we decided to take a ride out to Easton, PA. Weyerbacher brewing was the first stop on our day trip. Open for tours and tasting from noon to 3 on Saturdays we arrived shortly after they opened. Staff is super friendly and eager to help you put some samples down your gullet. They like to take you through the entire portfolio including limited edition bottled offerings (which surprised me). I was able to taste at least 8 -10 different beers, some which I had enjoyed before and some which were new to me. The Merry Monk (Belgian Tripel) and Blanche (Belgian Wit) are two of my favorites. The Imperial Pumpkin Ale was one of Weyerbacher brews that I hadn't tasted before today and was probably my favorite brew that I tasted today. As for the tour, I've been on a ton of brewery tours and this one definitely is in my top 3. Tour guide gave a good mix of the history of Weyerbacher while also thoroughly explaining the brewing process from the pallets of barley until it's bottled and on the pallet. Took time to answer all questions and didn't make us feel as if he had done this a thousand times before. Good job sir! Just in case you don't know, PA liquor laws are kinda F'd up. So if you want to go home with some beer, you have to buy a case. They also sell kegs (sixtels and 1/2 barrels) based on availability. They also normally do growler fills but not today because their taps were foaming too much. I was a little perplexed that a brewery can't figure out why their taps are foamy but whatever...

Simply put...kick ass brewery. These guys are what craft beer is all about. Its off the beaten path, or should I say ghetto path in easton pa, but nonetheless there is no better brewery in Pa, and I dare even say Jersey. Free tastings on Saturdays 10-3 rock.

Great brewery. . Tour guy was fantastic and kind of funny which made the tour even better. Staff was friendly and very helpful.... They make excellent beer I hope we can get more down here in Florida

Incredible! They make great stuff and you can try whatever you like. Unlike anywhere else I have been, you can buy their beer directly at the brewery and it actually costs less than buying it second-hand (as it should). I recommend trying everything. World-class.

  • Bill B.

This place is one of my favorites. Their beer is amazing. It is a small blue collar brewery that makes great beer. You can go in most days and pick up cases of tour favorite brews. THey have a small tasting area. Staff are awesome and knowledgeable.

  • Crystal F.

I'm rating this a 3-4. We arrived in time for the 1230 tour on sat. It was pretty busy. I recommend getting there a half hour early and doing your tastings ahead of time. The tour was interesting but nothing overly unique. We enjoyed the beers, I think I'd like to go back in the fall and try their insanity- it's aged in whiskey barrels!

  • Timothy D.

Just a must visit: Brew tour is really good, the sampling room better, and you can take some home cheaper than if you typically go to a distributor. I haven't found a beer from them I didn't like so far. The good: Beer tours are free, samplings are free, and beer tours with samplings are great. The bad: none really. Just wish they had an option of food rather than bar snacks.

LOVED this small and unassuming brewery. I have liked Weyerbacher since I tried the Heresy this year' which has become one of my favorite beers. The hubs and I stopped here on our way to New Jersey from CLE. Got to sample around eight beers for free (excuse me while I belch contentedly and take a nap), take home a case, and get suckered into purchasing a t-shirt. Good times. We did not go on the tour; tours of breweries don't really thrill me. It's more about just going to see the place where the beer is made that is exciting. I don't really need to be escorted around. One thing to note: small bottles are sold by the case ONLY and price is dependent upon the types of beers you select. There's a system for figuring this out, so don't get nervous. Well worth it, though!

This place is excellent! Absolutely worth a stop. You can try 6 delicious beers per person but they will let you combine them with a friend so you can both try a total of 12. The staff is friendly & knowledgeable and you can purchase beer there. No limit to the purchase and they allow you to mix-and-match. I can be picky about beer but was very pleasantly surprised to discover I liked almost every single sample!

Weyerbacher makes excellent beers. However, the venue is a warehouse converted to a brewery. There is not a formal tasting room, but a bar at the front of the venue for tasting. They were nice enough to give us a tour on a non-tour day. If you'd like a tour, they have hours on the weekend, so be sure to do your research before walking in. I believe they do this so they are giving tours when they aren't in operation. The quality of their products is fantastic! Weyerbacher has perfected the ale and has made an impression on the microbrewery business. You can get a good education on beers as you sample them, and a good understanding of the different hops and processes that are used to create their beers. As they expand, i believe they will add a tasting room. My rating is based more on the quality of the location than the quality of their products. Easily a 4 or 5 star location aside from the venue.

I am a big fan of their beer, so I was pretty excited to try it at the source. The tasting room is a nice size area, which has a bar, a wall of singles for customers to make their own custom cases, and an area of some pretty sweet merchandise. We did not take the tour because we were pressed for time. I bought a mixed case of all of their 12 oz's available and it came to 40 bucks even. I was very excited to see their Double Simcoe IPA, and Hops Infusion in 12 oz bottles, as I can not get them in Jersey. If you are a craft beer drinker, and are visiting the Allentown/Easton area, it's definitely worth a visit. The staff was very nice, informed, and courteous to us the entire time. I will be back soon!

Not a bad way to spend a Saturday afternoon. They provide tastings from 12pm-3pm and you can usually taste all that they have to offer. Oh yeah, the tours are informative too! Be sure to pick up some brews and a growler for your ride home.

Weyerbacher...just saying your name makes my mouth water. Went up to the Easton/Stroudsburg area for a Pocono ski trip during MLK weekend. the first and foremost thing on my girlfriend's and my mind was to geek out at this brewery. There are usually three tours per Saturday ~12:45, 1:30, and 2:15pm before the brewery shuts it's doors at 3pm. We unfortunately arrived a little late for the second tour, so we had to have our arms severely twisted and mangled by the very kind female employee who asked us if we wanted to try some samples. Prior to our visit, we've already had the Merry Monks, Blanche, Double Simcoe, Hops Infusion, Zotten, etc. so we knew what deliciousness lied ahead. the tasting really helped jumpstart my study into English-style barleywine with the Blithering Idiot, which I hadn't had the opportunity to try prior. Other notables were the special dark and regular style Fourteen as well as the Belgian style quad QUAD. the tour was very informative, and filled with some cheap shots at the bohemoth OH MY BEER IS SO COLD BECAUSE THE MOUNTAINS AND MY GIRLFRIENDS PREGNANCY TEST TOLD ME SO corporations. For what the place looks like on the outside, you would never think that within their doors lies a significant operation. I think i read on one of the signs that they're pumping out over 100 cases per hour, which for a brewery of their stature is pretty nice. be sure to mix and match bottles and take a case home to enjoy. there's nothing better than enjoying a high ABV beer in a snifter while enjoying the company of your lady and puppy. i'm looking forward to trying the Insanity which is an oak aged brother of Blithering Idiot as well as Heresy, which is an oak aged brother of Old Heathen. Seems as though everybody involved in the operation is very down to earth, very family oriented, and out to take their slingshots to get a few licks in at the big boys. i trust they will continue to make their mark past the east coast and start making headway across the country.

I would be hard pressed to find a better brewery in the United States. I try to get over there every few years and have driven as far as two hours to attend their Saturday tastings. These are beers on par with a monastery in belgium and they always rotate with the season. If you like sours their reserva might be the best I have ever had. Their insanity barley wine is the best I've ever had, it is aged in bourbon barrels and will knock your socks off. Merry Monks is one tasty triple. Fall brings the release of their high quality Imperial Pumpkin Ale. If you are planning a week in the northeast get there Saturday morning and stock up for the week, it will be the best vacation you have ever had. Please bring a designated driver, last time there I wrapped my rental around a telephone pole.

Despite the distance from, well, anything, Weyerbacher is a must-see for any Greater Philadelphia area beer enthusiast. The brewery is tucked away in a god forsaken corner of Easton, PA - but well worth the visit. The tour does NOT mess around. You are right in the action. No "viewing windows" here. Additionally, their tasting bar is staffed by the most awesome volunteers who are quite keen to make sure you walk away with a nice, knowledgable buzz to go with your really well priced case of Double Simcoe. Probably not the best idea when it's pretty likely you aren't going to be calling a cab - but hey! What's a good brewery tour without some questionable decisions?

I spend enough damn time reviewing bars that it's more or less appropriate that I should eventually work my way back to the source: breweries. And as far as these jams go, Weyerbacher is pretty fantastic. Here are the basics: good tasting setup, highly limited hours, short tour, awesome way to buy in quantity. The best parts about the Weyerbacher brewery are by far the tasting and the price for buying. I am a big fan of beer (shocking, I know) so their little Saturday-afternoon-bar thing is per-fect. Lots of attentive people on hand to pour little tasters of many, many varieties of standby and seasonal beers and even a few baskets of pretzels to boot. The buying process is pretty easy to execute and you can get out of there with a lot of beer for a very nice price. There are also t-shirts and whatnot to buy, but--and I don't mean this to be cruel--let's all admit that if you're going to buy any PA-centric booze-merch-clothing, it's gotta be Victory. The designs on Weyerbacher's stuff can get a little lame and I'd sooner have a FOR YOUR TASTE on my back than a goofy-looking jester or something. The tour itself is just a little lacking if you're a real beer nut. The guys are totally willing to chat afterward and I bet you can pump them for a lot of information about how they went from their kitchen to being such a big operation, but the tour as it stands doesn't have that element of storytelling. There's just a lot of the old beer-tour rigamarole: water + grain + yeast + hops = beer and so on etc. etc. etc. There is none of the gleaming-industrial madness of a large-scale joint and they just don't quite include the element i'd love to see. In the end, it's kind of a can't-miss if you're in town, though. The tour may be a teensy bit boring but it might not be if this is your first brewery. At any rate, it's a perfect place to nab a few really unusual and interesting tastes of great small-scale beer.

Saturday they are open from 12 to 3 for tours, tasting and sales. You can mix and match a case (PA laws require you to buy a case). You can taste for free or take a short tour of the brewery hosted by a volunteer tour guide. The beer is most excellent, I go once a month to check out the latest releases of the seasonal beers. They are making VERY innovative and VERY tasty brews. If you like to try unusual beers and you live anywhere close, plan a trip! If you are thirsting for larger quantities, they also sell sixtels and kegs of many of the ales. Since moving to the Easton area I have visited often and have never been disappointed.

Where can you go on an early Saturday afternoon to drink some of the best locally brewed beer around -- for FREE??!! Why at Weyerbacher of course, silly! Best of all, you can drink as much as you want. Did I mention for free?! They don't even charge for the short 15 minute tour. Oh this place makes me yearn for the days when they once had a brew pub in town. *sigh* Five stars, baby. Count 'em. Five.

We stopped in this past weekend at the brewery to enjoy the tour and get some free samples. The brewery is basically a factory space that has been converted so they can brew and bottle beer. Also in the front is a small bar area where they give free samples of there beer. They also have a small counter to the side where you can purchase the beer to go or brewery merchadise like shirts, hats, and pint glasses. The tour was definitley lacking some sustance. It was only about 15 minutes and just went over the basics of what they do and how they do it. On the plus side it was free and if you have seen one brewery tour you've seen them all since they are ussually very similar. Best part of Weyerbacher was just the laid back and environment and causal attitude. You could tell the people who run and own the brewery generally love what they do.

Edit 3/6/10: We stopped here as part 1 of Jim's 38th birthday and are happy to add that the tasting remains free. Yeah! The staff remains friendly and generous, and the beers incredible. As of today, there was 1 case of Imperial Pumpkin Ale left--whomever gets this, lucky you! Mixed Case Price: $32 + .25-1.75/bottle for many of the brews. Original Review: 1/24/2009 This was the best brewery visit I've had since Magic Hat in 2001. Growlers are $3 for the bottle (as opposed to $8-15 from most places!) and, at least for now, the tasting is free (soon to change when glasses will be purchased for the tasting, as the plastic cups are not recyclable). They're working towards a LEED certification too, and within 50 miles of Princeton--drink local! We arrived ~12:15, and there was a tour at 12:30. Step in, and there's a crowd of people at the bar in this 1950's warehouse. We moved towards the back end and had a really friendly tastemaster. We tried so many of the beers and ended up with 2 growlers and a case (in PA, you can't buy 6-packs). There were a few beers we missed, well, can't say we really missed them (IPAs, lighter brews, ie 4%...) *Black Hole 7%: we should have tried this first, but instead tried it late; it had a bit of a floral scent and was more like a very smooth porter *Old Heathen 8%: our standby favourite; a smooth Imperial Stout *Heresy 8%: When Old Heathen is bourbon barrel oaked, it becomes Heresy. This made it exceptionally smooth. *Merry Monks 9.3%: Their take on a Belgian beer. A bit too much apricot and hops for me, as smooth as Chimay. *Blithering Idiot 11.1%: Our new favourite. I believe we had 3 tastes? How to describe? Can't. This one you simply want to drink more and more of, until you lose your ability to speak. *Insanity 11.1%: Blithering Idiot becomes Insanity in the bourbon barrels. It tastes like apricot jam. *QUAD 11.8%: An autumn brew-style. A barley wine, but it didn't have the yuck factor that many barley wines have. *Blasphemy 11.8%: QUAD becomes Blasphemy in the bourbon barrels. I couldn't drink this, as it was too heady and strong tasting. Jim took advantage of that to drink the rest of my sample. *Imperial Pumpkin Ale 8%: tastes like pumpkin pie. *Double Simcoe IPA 9%: The smoothest IPA I've tried, but I don't like the bitterness factor. Jim was happy to have my dregs, again. *Anniversary XIII (13.6 %): This tasted like the best cup of coffee you could have. Thick, dark, opaque. But don't drink it for breakfast, lest you become a spacy idiot. The tour was great (see posted pictures). Found out that the darkness in beers comes from roasting the malted barley (they use an imported 2 row barley). It appeared that one person was in charge of brewing, and 4 with the aging, bottling, and packaging. We are definitely coming back, possibly before visiting the Crayola Museum. We do have those 2 growlers to refill (we have a roll of electrical tape in the car specifically for sealing the tops of growlers; trust me, this keeps the fizz in longer).

Excellent beer. The actual tour is kind of brief and lacking but the beer itself is wonderful. The factory prices are also cheaper than the market prices at Wegmans, so it's a big win overall. I personally like the Autumnfest beer. Most of the beers are of the darker variety. Work your way up gradually... Did I mention they also let you try samples of everything for free? So try what you want and then you can mix and match your own case!
