I had always wanted to stop and have dinner at the Spaghetti and Steakhouse, so when Groupon had an offer, I purchased it. We redeemed it that same day, August 5, 2014. We began our meal with the sampler. The menu reads, "Sampler (Fried Cheese, Zucchini, Mushrooms and Onion Rings.) Our sampler did not have onion rings. We were there on a Tuesday, so we both had special of the day, the spaghetti and meatball, salad, bread and butter. The YouTube video boasts, "delicious food made from scratch." Both myself and my husband were not impressed with the quality of the food and thought that everything other than the bread and salad had been a frozen item that had been heated and served. I could have prepared that for myself at home. After having that meal, I was glad that I had not ordered a steak. I can't imagine how that would have been prepared. Perhaps we hit them on an off night. After leaving this same message on their Facebook page and not receiving a reply, we won't be giving it a second try. It was the worst Groupon purchase we have ever made. I would have given a zero star rating if it were possible.

The Dinners are always good and the service as well. Beyond that you can order take out, always ready on time, always good as well. We had a Christmas party there last year with 7 grandchildren, we will continue to do this because it exceeded expectation. I would recommend it highly!!!

We came here on the way to Benton,PA, and man oh man was the poterhouse steak goooood! It was so juicy and succulent and huge I couldn't believe it. It also had these awesome char marks on it. The potato skins were really yummy also as was the cheesecake I had for dessert. It is quaint as all get out, and the server we had was really sweet. I don't get why this place has bad reviews.

Simple cheap food that is good enough for the price.

I had their pasta lunch special, which included a salad and slices of Italian bread. The pasta looked to be homemade and the sauce was very tasty. Portions were enough for a lunch.

This is a great family restaurant. The sauce is homemade, along with the gnocchi and lasagna. It's not fancy, but you can get a good glass of wine along with homemade spaghetti and locally baked bread. This isn't "chain" food, the pasta and sauce, along with the house made wedding soup are excellent. My favorite is baked rigs with cheese! You can get orders to go, or order a pan of rigs or lasagna to take home and feed the family. I recommend buying an extra quart of sauce, it's addicting.

Awful food! Ordered the chicken alfredo, got runny sauce with gray chicken that took almost an hour. My husband could've done a better job! And the $16 they had the nerve to charge for it was appalling! The only nice thing about this place was the service. Decor was circa 1955. Obviously the draw for this place is the bar upstairs.

Took my office staff here for lunch last week. The website sets a scene that is not matched by the decor of the restaurant itself. I ordered the pasta pair special they had offered. The spaghetti was homemade, and the sauce was very tasty. I was, though, disappointed with the portion sizes. So, bottom line: the food was good, but my expectations had been much higher prior to arriving. The website sets a dining tone that doesn't exist, and I felt the portions were small.

Note: It appears that the upstairs bar (we never went up there) is called The Hot Rod Lounge, and the downstairs, ground-level restaurant is called Spaghetti and Steakhouse. Got it? I'm a little dismayed at the negative reviews, and once again, I'm left questioning my own tastes for neither Kay nor I found anything atrocious about our meal. Quaint would describe the ambience. One feels as if he or she is having dinner at Aunt Polly's house with families dining on whitewashed tables and chairs of wood whilst having amusing, jovial conversations peppered with gentle ribbing. Paper placemats with local advertisements and puzzle games lay before you. Servers greet you as they would longtime regulars even if you've never been there before. A quintet of potato skins began our supper in tidy, homey fashion. The miniature, halved, and hollowed baked spuds were topped with bacon, cheddar, and mozzarella and managed to balance the starchy, salty and creamy nicely. The leathery skin held soft, piping pulp that we cooled with sour cream for consumption. I could have had more of them. A pulled pork sandwich was next on the docket for me after trying in vain to decide between their signature spaghetti or steak. The pig juggled sugar, vinegar, and smoke like a jazz singer, not dropping a single note. The torridly tender meat was swaddled between a bisected, floured, crusty bun that was prepared that morning at a nearby bakery. I've frankly never had bread quite like it, and I'm eager to seek out its makers on another trip someday. For laughs and curiosity's sake, I also ordered a side of meatballs, and by golly they mostly lived up to their suburban fame. Deluged with a robust tomato sauce and caught in a net of melted provolone, the lumps of ground chuck were as moist as a sopping sponge. Kay had herself a bonanza of a porterhouse steak that was grilled to an ideal medium rare. One morsel made me salivate with green eyes aflash.. Like the potato skins, I hadn't had an apple dumpling in ages, and it was quite the spherical pie a la mode. The crust, which stayed on famously, was unadulterated buttery joy, and the apples were left a little al dente, the molten filling failing to turn them into mush. As we headed to Benton that evening, we passed many restaurants, a good bit of which were chains or foxhole pizza joints. It was nearly 8:30pm, and worrying that we might have to settle for Sheetz or go hungry once the remaining sunlight began to fade, our decision to pull into Spaghetti & Steakhouse was a hasty one, and neither of us lamented it one bit. With just over an hour until closing time, our hosts welcomed us warmly, fed us heartily, and wished us godspeed as we traveled into the long, lonely, murky night.

If I could give this place zero stars , I would. It's a run down, dirty little hole in the wall. The food was subpar at best. I had the 5 oz sirloin, it was dry and over done. My companion had a wilted chef salad. The walls were dirty and the place felt like eating in the back room of bar. It's nothing like any other steakhouse or italian resturant I've been to. I've posted several pic and I'll let you be the judge.

I cant believe this place is still in business. If your looking for cheap crappy food then this is your place. They have a biker bar upstairs in the same complex. Not that family friendly. Is zero stars an option? C'mon yelp!! Gimme that option....

Summary: I recommend this place to anyone and will be stopping there again. I was borderline between 4-5 stars on this place and decided to go with 5 because I think the negative reviews on here are not fair. Downstairs is the Spaghetti and Steakhouse restaurant and upstairs is the Hot Rod Lounge. The negative reviews are for the lounge. I agree that the lounge is one of the dirtiest, smelliest bars I have ever been in, but that shouldn't reflect on ratings for the restaurant downstairs. Whatever you do, don't go upstairs! I have driven by this place 100s of times on my way to and from Pittsburgh and never imagined I would eat their because it looks like a complete dump and the name makes it sound something like a Steak 'n Shake. I stopped in recently with my brother as a joke because we both couldn't believe it had been there for so long. Well... my brother and I were completely shocked by how good the food and service were. I expected your typical fried food out of the freezer with canned junk on the side. But, everything truly is homemade! My wife didn't believe me and thought I was joking so I took here there. She too was shocked by the quality of the food. The only thing I do not recommend is the pizza. With all the other fresh food they make, I can't figure out why they use pre-made crusts for their pizza. Thankfully I didn't get pizza on my first visit or I would never have returned. The bad thing about this place is the cleanliness and decor. The first time I finally stopped in I almost turned around and walked out. It looks like it hasn't been updated in 50+ years; not even painted! It is in serious need of a major makeover (think Restaurant Impossible!).

Nice Little family run restaurant that has very good home made pasta and sauce. Friendly staff and great service with good food. The daily specials can't be beat (our favorite is the Tuesday spaghetti and meatball with soup or salad for less than $5. Suggest staying away from the "exotic" dishes like shrimp scampi and sticking to the basics like spaghetti, chicken parm, etc. We stop in on a regular basis and always enjoy our meal.

The food was good and the portions were just right. I had meat ravioli and wedding soup. My husband had homemade spaghetti and a tossed salad. My homemade ravioli were not homemade but still good never the less. We both liked the sauce. The service was slow but the host did his best to accommodate us. There wasn't much ambience but the prices were good. We used the groupon and paid an extra $3 and that included a beer and a soda. All in all we were satisfied and will come back.

I've driven past this place for years and years. I finally made it there over the holidays for dinner. I ordered the homemade spaghetti and gnocchi. They delivered a basket of bread and butter before our food arrived. The bread wasn't anything spectacular but I did finish off two baskets (I like bread). My food arrived very quickly and I dug in. It was a good amount of pasta for around $9. I enjoyed both pastas and finished almost all of it! I'm glad that I finally sated my curiosity around this place and passed on the menu to my family who live in the area and can stop by as well.

Went here for the first time after buying a groupon, but I've been meaning to stop in for a while. Even without the groupon, the prices were very reasonable We started with onion rings. We are both kind of picky with them so we don't order them often. These were the best onion rings I've ever had. Perfectly fresh, crispy, and flavorful which is what a lot of onion rings lack. You have to ask for dipping sauce. Does not automatically come with any, so I got ranch. My husband ordered a cheeseburger with everything on it and a big helping of delicious fries for only 6.99. He said his burger was just ok.- nothing exceptional. If he had enjoyed it more, I would have given this place 5 stars. I ordered the chicken bruschetta with a side of angel hair pasta and Italian wedding soup. The soup may not have been made in house, I did not ask, but it was delicious and they give the perfect amount. The breaded chicken was perfectly juicy and crunchy and smothered in cheese and diced tomatoes. The pasta was cooked nicely with a semi-sweet red sauce. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful. The interior is slightly drab, a bit old fashioned really, but definitely inviting. Felt almost like sitting in someone's home. We were seated near the door so I don't know what most of the dining room looked like, but everything seemed clean and well taken care of, even the bathrooms. We will definitely go back, especially for their Wednesday spaghetti and homemade meatball special for only 4.95 a person.

Great place to stop by and grab a sandwich and beer. If you come on Wed's, $1 drafts. The lunch specials are great priced. Friendly staff welcomes you when you enter. Convenient location right on route 22.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
