Chips and salsa are the best I've had. BUT....VERY INCONSISTENT with the meals. Sometimes so salty you can't eat it....sometimes no salt at all....sometimes just right(but not often). Wish they could get it right cause they have the potential to be a good restaurant.

Not bad. Really good Mexican food. Hard to beat. Indiana has nothing on this place!

Salsa is good. Pollo crema is delish! Fajita texana is delish. Margarita's the size of my head! Ole!!! Service was excellent! Need I say more?

I love Picante! My friends and I have dinner here every few weeks. The food is always amazing. We usually just split a few of the small plates (tamales, poblanos, rellenos) and it's always more than enough. The style of chips is not my favorite....but that's okay with me because I don't eat a thousand of them before our food comes out. The service is always friendly and efficient, at the bar or tables. Margaritas are great and the bulldogs are fun! Their horchata is a perfect dessert drink if you like a sweet cinnamony milk.

The atmosphere is fun and Tuesday $2 margaritas cannot be beat. The margaritas were pretty nice size for the price but I have some what of a bias against margs with a little too much sours because they upset my stomach so much. The menu is big and helpful, but my quesadilla came out cold and they brought me a fresh new hot yummy one in a jiffy! The shrimp tacos were very fishy smelling, so it was a little hard to eat, but still good. The chips and salsa they bring you when you first sit down are yummy and they keep them coming! My friends taco salad also wasn't very warm, but maybe that's how it's supposed to be? The server had no problem giving us 3 separate checks which was nice and his service was friendly and fast...

EIGHT REASONS TO AVOID THIS ESTABLISHMENT The free chips and salsa wasn't too bad... then we became disappointed with each bite. 1. The food on my plate came out luke-warm. 2. I ordered the chicken enchiladas with mole sauce and the primary flavor was salt. Not chicken or mole peppers, or any other flavors you'd expect, mostly just salt. 3. I thought the salty flavor could have been the sauce, so I tried eating just the chicken... nope! Just as salty as the rest. 4. The rice was 100% bland. 5. My girlfriend's fish taco 'special' didn't taste anything like fish. The fish was over-cooked and crumbled like over-cooked scrambled eggs. 6. The 'fish' in her tacos were drowning in some cheesy sauce that again, tasted mostly of salt. 7. The refried beans tasted like the kind you pour out of a GFS can. 8. The pico de gallo was not very fresh... again, seemed old with a 'slight' hint of cilantro... not very fresh. We are visiting the area for a short while and really wanted to find some 'good food'. The top-pick was the other restaurant in town and we couldn't get a seat because the rest of the town was there for trivia night -_____- That's all. Please don't go here unless you're taking someone you don't like out to dinner.

Pretty good but not excellent. The food is sometimes not appropriately spiced (I don't mean hot). However there are supplementsavailable. The people that run the place are awesome and the price is good. I would definitely recommend it.

Very good Mexican restaurant. The portion are very hefty and the price won't drain your pockets. Queso con chorizo is a must to start out with!! The Pollo con Crema is an excellent dish.

Not bad at all. Stopped in for a quick lunch and ordered the Chile Colorado and a bowl of guacamole to share with my wife. We both left stuffed for the very American price of $17.76 + tip. Didn't knock my socks off but lacked nothing. Chips and salsa were pretty good and the guacamole was quite good after adding salt. Our waiter gave us everything we needed. The atmosphere was perfectly fine. A solid choice for when you need to eat some mexican food.

This place is awesome! My husband and I eat the fajitas for two just about every time we go in there. Sssooo good! I'm from Texas and I know Mexican food. This is really good. This is better than most Mexican food in this area!

Wife and I had dinner last evening, sat at the bar. Went to just have a Margarita but then decided to eat. Great decision! Bartender was personable, brought chips and salsa immediately. Wife generally doesn't like MEX food due to distaste of cilantro but only a trace in the fixings accompanying her Carne Asada. Steak was tender and flavorful. I had Buritos and was another good choice; one chicken, one beef. Both tasty, and large portion. We will be back!

We had a delicious dinner at Picante tonight. We shared the chicken rice soup, it was flavored with pico de gallo, cilantro, and avocado and was delicious. We also shared chicken fajitas which came with guacamole, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, sour cream, re fried beans, and rice. We would recommend this restaurant highly. The servers were so attentive but not overwhelmingly so. We will be back soon.

Ironically, it would be a weekend of Mexican dining to and from Benton, Pennsylvania, an area not known for a high Mexican-American population that is surrounded by areas not known for having many of Latin extraction. The same could be said for the humble hamlet of Delmont, which is where Kay and I passed through one evening last weekend to visit her grandparents. We were in search of eats to sustain us as per procedure when I saw a mint-tinted light in the gauzy, cruel, winter dark that promised South-of-the-border food prepared with gusto. Along the way, I had expected to find a country-style restaurant, something I honestly was more in the mood for. Nonetheless, we threw wants out the window and entered the festive establishment. Thoroughly in love with The Steelers, Picante's orange walls are decorated with black-n-gold sombreros and drapes. As soon as we were seated, the bitter weather was forgotten. Picante's menu offers the usual tacos, enchiladas, fajitas, and whatnot, but I decided to go with one of their more offbeat dishes in the Carnitas Dinner. Teasingly tender and magnificently moist, the oily morsels of pulled pork are fried with white onions and are served with rice and refried beans. An exercise in simplistic peasant food perfection, I swaddled each chunk of pig in a luxurious tortilla, savoring the protein and the sweetly pungent notes provided by the onions. The pork fat seeped into the rice, turning the mundane into something decadent and nearly Asian or Ethiopian. Refried Beans: I usually leave them untouched on my plate if I don't ask for them to be left out entirely. Picante's, however, was stringy with queso, making them more than tolerable for me. Beginning the fiesta was a helping of that mashed superfood tour de force we mere mortals call guacamole. Optimally fried tortilla chips served as vessels for the lumpy, lardy, green, mildly tart miracle dip that I wished for a bottomless mortar of. I tend to order guacamole to feel out an unfamiliar Mexican restaurant. This guac...rocked verily. That's not to say that the fruity, crimson salsa was completely upstaged, however. Kay and I were a bit stuffed after our main course, so we skipped dessert, but please do not skip Picante if you're in the Delmont area. Real Mexican food has arrived in Greater Pittsburgh, Picante being just one of many Latin-tinged eateries that has come to our metropolitan area with something to prove. And to think someone decided to open a restaurant like this wayyyy out here. That's America, folks. P.S. We did not find the food to be oversalted nor did we find the ambience or any of the staff to be at all strange or creepy. Moreover, our waiter provided excellent service in every way and did not smother us in the slightest.

Margaritas are giant but tasty (I even ordered the "medium")... the chile rellenos are not to be missed! Ambiance could use some work but the service was fast and friendly, and everyone enjoyed their meals. If chips were homemade I would have given this place 5 stars! First experience was a great one... I'll be back, for sure!

Chorizo dip. A mixture of white queso dip and bits of chorizo. Orgasmic. Eating the chorizo dip is like riding a unicorn that farts out tasty cinnamon buns to a magical land where beer comes out of the ground in big geysers and you can summon puppies at will whenever you're feeling down. That's not the only good food at Picante, though. In fact, I haven't had a bad meal there yet. Their menu has a selection that is different from most of the Tex-Mex places I've been to in the area, enough so that it's interesting, and there are still a lot of things I want to try. Other reviewers are right in saying that there's just something a little off with the wait staff. We almost always get this dude who's just a touch creepy. I can't put my finger on it, but there's just a slight uncomfortable sensation I get from him. And Vanita M. is right: the food's on the salty side. All together a positive experience, though. Definitely worth trying out, especially for the chorizo dip.

Pretty good Mexican food place. Definitely the best in the area. Friendly staff and a great deal on margaritas on Tuesday

The food was awesome! Most Mexican restaurants I've been to emphasize the main part of the dish and add lackluster sides. Not the case here. I had chimichangas with beans and my boyfriend got enchiladas with rice and beans. No leftovers! Service was friendly and fast.

-Respectably cheap, especially the lunch specials. Some of them are weirdly named (the "Speedy Gonzales"?) but I think it's part of the charm. -Food was good, and came in pretty big portion sizes too. -Surprise (delicious) dessert tortilla at the end! Tha

My bf and I stopped in for a drink. We ended also ordering an appetizer. It was ok, but I'm going to give the place another try. IMO the food was a little too salty. Ditto on the thing about being asked if we were ready to order over and over.

Had dinner last night while watching sports on the TV. Food was very tasty and all the people very nice. Had their quesadilla special with a large Dos XX dark for around $14. Great deal, plus all the chips and salsa. This was my second visit. First was with my wife, who liked it a lot, too.

Going to give 3 stars. Our first trip when this placed first opened was unexplainable. Went again based on reviews. Much improved.

Went here Saturday for Dinner. Heard good things and the place lived up to expectations. If you love Cozumel in Greensburg, you'll love Picante Mexican Grill. I ordered the Camarones a la Diabla and the wife ordered the Vegetables Fajitas. They both came with Rice, Refried Beans and Salad. While we waited (didn't take long at all), we enjoyed the chips and salsa. The food was good and plentiful. We couldn't eat it all and enjoyed it the next day as well. The beer (23 oz glasses are available) was good and cold. Fortunately I like Dos Equis because there are only two beers available on tap (Bud Light is your other choice). Full bar looked stocked. My wife and highly reccommend this place and we'll be back. FYI, the Diabla sauce had some heat. And the habanero sauce on the table was even hotter.

This was one of my favorite places for along time, was visiting 2 to 3 times each week. Once they expanded I have noticed a decline in the food quality, smaller portions, no consistency, less attention to detail. Everything seems hit or miss there now, you don't know what to expect. I am not alone as others have mentioned to me they noticed the difference too. They need to get back to the quality of food they served not to long ago. They are still better than most Mexican restaurants in the area but if the decline continues they won't be for long.

Impressed with the food and the service! And to have good food, mexican, in Delmont, with alcohol, how can I complain? We really liked it.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
