Despite the name, this is actually more like a diner than a family restaurant, and that is absolutely okay. I ate here every night during my stay in the area, and I never had a bad meal there. The wait staff is extremely friendly (you seat yourself), its trackside so you can see and hear when a train is passing, and the food is definitely plentiful and affordable. They don't rush you out the door, and make you feel at home when you eat there. Plus, its right across the street from a Sheetz, so convenient! And it is also right up the road from US Route 22, also so convenient! And their hours are fair so you can't miss eating there at all, plus the parking is plenty and easy to get to off of PA Route 53. When I come back to the area, I'd much rather eat my dinner here than anywhere else!

Food was good and so were the prices, but the service was somewhat shocking. Once our server brought our orders, she disappeared and never returned until the dining room began to fill and she handed us our check in a manner more or less suggesting we should pay and leave. No coffee refills, three bottles of empty ketchup at two different tables, and she wasn't terribly polite-- never cracked a smile the three times we saw her. I'd have thought they were understaffed, but we counted six people working there. We probably won't return. Hop on the highway and drive 20 more minutes to the Eat n' Park or Denny's in Altoona.

Superb diner-style restaurant with a huge variety in a town that leans very heavily to pizza. No alcohol or BYOB. Clean. Great wait staff. Turkey dinner recommended !

I cannot believe all the good reviews. This has to be among one of the worst places to which I've been. I guess if you like frozen, canned or instant foods, this is your kind of place. The turkey was described as slow-roasted. It was some congealment of tasteless turkey bits in a slab over a slice of bland bread dressing. However, there was a slice of deli turkey on top of the turkey slab, probably to cover the dark secret below. The baked potato was charred on the outside and brown throughout the inside. We did ask our cheerful waitress to replace it with fries and she apologized and did so. I specifically asked if the mashed potatoes were real and waitress said they were...yeah, real INSTANT mashed potatoes! The meatloaf I ordered was described as "mom's." I'm sure glad my mom didn't cook this way! Both the turkey and beef gravies were instant. I was gonna try dessert, but decided to cut my losses. I will never go here again!

Average food, good prices, cute atmosphere & very laid back. My fiance and I came here almost every Sunday while in college to have a quiet weekend morning breakfast. Cute decor with old pictures and rustic items. Would definitely recommend for a laid back meal. I think breakfast is the best thing here, personally! Served all day - love that!!! Their deserts are also home made!

Good variety of well-prepared food- we had steak, taco salad and pasta all prepared perfectly. Prices were quite reasonable. Desserts were excellent (gobs and cakes particularly) but the cherry pie crust could use some work. Overall a satisfying meal.

The Cresson Springs has been here pretty much forever, as far as I can tell. Good, reasonably priced meals and some cool old pictures of the former resort. Definitely try some of their pie.
