Late afternoon lunch. . Seated quickly (only 2 tables with customers, both were finishing up). Received complimentary chips and salsa. . Service was OK, a little slow on drink refills. Foods was good but not something I would go out of my way for but a place I'd stop if in the area. Flan and churros for dessert were good.

Maybe, at some point, Casa Toro used to be good. Maybe their style of food wasn't always so Chili's-esque. Maybe their menu was unique. Maybe they never charged so much for a dang quesadilla. But maybe they don't care. I mean, the place always seems packed and their recent expansion would signal that they're not doing so bad for themselves. But a few nights ago, they served me one of the most disappointing meals I've had in a long time. First up, the complementary chips and salsa. Another Yelper has labeled this "the BEST salsa" she's ever had, so I was pumped. I took my first bite. Diced sort-of fresh tomatoes with specks of cilantro. I took another bite, hoping for the epiphany to strike. Was that a hit of jalapeno? Oh, wait, it's gone now. Next, after scoping out the menu online, I was excited to order the Pollo Mole, but the restaurant menu was missing the dish. The rest of Casa Toro's lineup seemed as underwhelming as a piñata filled with circus peanuts. Chicken wings. Romaine lettuce salads. Burgers? To the other Yelpers (yeah, I'm taking ALL you down!) who call this place "authentic," can you direct me to the restaurants in Mexico City currently serving jalapeno poppers and Caribbean Black Bean Burgers with dill mayonnaise? So I defaulted to the burrito bowl--with steak, because I was feeling fancy. It was something like $18.95. But I figured that because Tori B. from Perkasie said the food was "Wow... Just wow," I put my faith in the restaurant. This thing comes out and it's a couple spoonfuls of overcooked rice, topped with some thin squiggles of crummy beef, that same damn salsa from the chip platter, a scattering of unseasoned black beans, a slick of tacky white cheese, and a splooge each of sour cream and guacamole. We now live in an age where Chipotle offers cilantro-lime brown rice and roasted chili-corn salsa. I can find a pretty good burrito bowl in the freezer aisle of Weis. Taco Bell has even vowed to step up their ingredients. There is no excuse for a restaurant like Casa Toro to serve stuff I used to eat when I was seven at Chi-Chi's--bland, boring, phoned-in--and charge nearly 20 bucks for it. Yeah, yeah, the service is fine and the margaritas are strong, but unless you're a mom who's looking to get hammered during happy hour (and OH MY GOD have a fried avocado!), then forget Casa Toro. Make the short trip down 309 into Quakertown instead and stop by Fiesta Habanero for a chorizo burrito with authentic Oaxacan cheese and homemade green sauce. Or if you want a more well-rounded Mexican menu stuffed with excellent enchiladas mole, sopa de tortilla, and lengua tacos served with nopales and radishes, treat yourself to Tijuana Tacos IV. Then, Gerry K., I challenge you to reassert your claim that Casa Toro is the "very best Mexican restaurant in a 50 mile radius."

Somewhat disappointed. They only had 2 waitresses on a busy weekend. Husband's jalapeno poppers tasted like the typical frozen ones you get at most places. Figured they would make authentic ones here...guess not. Our main courses were great. Margarita was decent but nothing to brag about.

I have been to Casa Toro dozens of times in the past several years. I like the food (though table service can be slow) but can only give three stars because of the bar service. The regular bartender is simply unpleasant and has repeatedly been rude and condescending when asked to do anything but pour beer or pre-mixed margaritas. There are much better bars in the area- if you are looking for Mexican food give it a shot but if you're coming for happy hour go elsewhere.

We have been going for 6 years-atleast. The food is still ok, but not as good as it used to be . They no longer serve black beans as a side and the portions have changed. We always order ROLLOS ACAPULCO and it has gone from awesome to fair. . The sides have gone from black beans and rice to a large amount of plain lettuce and a tomato slice with rice. It doesn't taste bad, it's just not what they used to be. My kids asked for tacos with meat and cheese. Expecting seasoned meat with a normal amount of cheese.....we got burned ground meat, not seasoned and minimal amount of cheese. :( The service is slow. Used to be worth it, but not so sure anymore! The price used to be a great deal with the quality of food. Now it's average price for average food!

I love this place. The Margaritas are great and the food is delicious. The bar area is also a nice place to watch a game. Generally, a very friendly and attentive staff. I had a lousy waitress with a sour attitude once, and have been back several times since. I have not seen the server so, it seems that they fixed the problem.

Awesome authentic mexican food. Excellent margaritas. Staff is always friendly. They just doubled their space and added 2nd bar area. Always crowded.

Okay I'm writing this while eating guac and chips on a very cold and snowy February afternoon in front of my wood stove. I got take-out. And the guacamole is writing this review. . .so I grew up in California, lived in Texas a couple of years, and, oh, now what a gem of a find - I don't have to move back to California! The guacamole was fantastic. I ordered mine with just jalapeno, cilantro and lime. The cooks nailed it. The hard shell taco with shredded beef: amazing. The pico de gallo, mwwaah! Can't wait to go back and get the enchiladas. Yes, the rumors were true. Thank you, Julio!

Walked up to Casa Toro late on a Saturday evening. The place was packed with about 15-25 people waiting to be seated. There were seats at the bar so we decided to take those rather than wait for a table or booth. Once at the bar, we were got our drinks and quickly ordered. We wuickly got chops and salsa and guacolmole as an appetizer. The salsa is freshly chopped rather than restaurant style. Personally, I prefer the runny food processed style over this but the flavor was good. The chips were ok, not the best that I have had at a Mexican restaurant but not bad. Some of the chips tasted not as fresh as others. The guacamole appetizer was large, creamy, and fresh. For entrees we had fish tacos and a chicken trio. The food was hot and served promptly. The flavors were good and the portion sizes were on the large size. Personally I wish the entrees has some additional sides like refried beans along with them. Overall the food is above average and the atmosphere is fine. I love Mexican and this is one of the better options in the Valley. As we were leaving we learned that the are expanding into the old cvs building next door in May. This move should eliminate some of wait issues and hopefully it doesn't create issues with food quality. Only time will tell.

Located in a shopping plaza, in Coopersburg, PA (along Rt 309), it is kind of hidden in the corner of the plaza. A little more authentic Mexican than most in the area. The menu has a good variety and the food is more than flavorful. The decor more basic than Mexican, but the food makes up for it. Don't be surprised, if it's spicy. There is a bar, separate from the dining area. I found the prices to be average. Well worth another trip.

Just returned from San Diego (business). Ate at a Mexican place in the Gaslamp district, noted for its clubs and restaurants. Had Tacos Pastore and several Margaritas. Neither the food nor the drinks are in CT's league. Again, I won't debate the "authenticity" since I'm not from Mexico. But on taste alone, no comparison. This place is in a league of its own.

The food is still amazing but I have to share an event that grossed me out last evening. An individual who was setting up a table, dropped the silverware/napkin roll on the floor. He did not put it on the table he was setting. Instead, he returned it to the bin of silverware/napkin rolls to be circulated to some unsuspecting customer later. Nothing like a napkin that's been on the floor to get your GI system moving along.

I usually just use Yelp to find restaurants, but had to review Casa Toro. The service is great, and it is a nice atmosphere, but the only thing authentic is the music they have playing. First, the chips are cheap, "pita" chips and are not unlimited, and are served 12 chips at a time. They charge after 2 plates! The food has no flavor or spice to it. We kept it simple and got Chicken Fajitas and Chicken Burrito. The chicken came in big chunks which doesn't allow for the little bit of marinade they use to flavor the meat. The burrito was similarly bland. I read the good reviews and am shocked to hear people say it tasted authentic. This could not be furthest from the truth. The best food we had were the fries my daughter got. I could name 10 other Mexican restaurants within 20 miles that are much, much better and less expensive. We tried here just because of the reviews. I will continue to review restaurants on here from now on just because I was fooled by the reviews for this place. By the way, we are from San Diego originally. We know authentic Mexican.

This review is based upon about 7-8 weekday lunch experiences as a solo diner, usually at the bar. The food is good and comes out fast. When you can get someone to wait on you. Don't sit at the bar. You will wait 15 minutes to get noticed, 15 minutes to have your order taken after that, and 15 minutes after you've finished eating to get your check. Ends up killing well over an hour when it really only took the food about 10 minutes to come out after the order went in. Waitresses seem stretched too thin given the crowd level in the dining room, and since most people don't order booze during weekday lunches, nobody is paying attention to the bar. One time I even saw a solo woman be seated in the dining room, wait 10 minutes without anyone even coming to take her drink order, then she just got up and walked out. I don't blame her.

All entrees were delicious! Atmosphere was nice. Service was good. Offered to taste spicy sauce before ordering. Margaritas were very good. Would come again!

My husband and I ate there last night for our anniversary. We were seated and served quickly. The food (and my margarita) was absolutely amazing! The chips and salsa were extremely fresh and a nice meal starter. We skipped appetizers in favor of having room for dessert (more on that later). I had one of three different enchiladas (chicken beef and cheese) each with a different sauce (red, green, mole). All three were amazing! Very distinct, flavorful, and fresh without loads of extra salt. The rice and beans that came with the meal were pretty good. The beans were the best I've ever had...the rice was...rice. Nothing notable in the world of rice, but tasty. Hubby had the carnitas - he couldn't stop talking about how good they were. We shared a fried ice cream for dessert (definitely enough for two) and MAN oh MAN was that good. I LOVE ice cream and this takes my passion for the frozen treat to a whole new level. Crunchy and creamy and sweet with just a hint of chocolate and cinnamon. Will definitely be back for that, if nothing else!

Wow... Just wow. We came here thinking this place must be good, but we never thought it was THIS good. We sat there waiting on a Friday evening. They let us sit by the bar having a drink, waiting. We waited for about 15 minutes and we finally got called to our table. The booths are pretty large for 2 people in one seat. Enough elbow room. I ordered the chicken burrito, and wow... I couldn't believe how tasty it was. It was just full of flavor! Don't get me wrong, the town I live in, their food is flavorless and tastes straight up like tofu. No salt or pepper in it at all. The Casa Toro is so amazing! The chicken was SO tender, and they didn't just give me a little, they literally stuffed it with chicken. The meals they give you will also fill you up, they give you a lot of food. The rice also was great, every Mexican place we go to, the rice is normally dry and tasteless. The rice was done very well! We later had desserts because this place was so good, and the desserts were just as pleasing! We had the fried ice cream and I forget the other platter, but it was cake that was soaked in milk on something to that sort. They both were very tasty, but the cake was the best in my opinion. We ate all of it until there wasn't even a single drop on the plate. Amazing restaurant, the food is great, the environment is fantastic and the service is friendly as well. You can see us coming again!

We moved back to the Lehigh Valley from Phoenix, and have been in desperate search mode for solid Mexican food. We found it. In addition to the fun, modern atmosphere, the food was terrific. We had enchiladas and the Sopeton dish, which were both outstanding. The bar was jammed. Nice dichotomy with it being very family friendly in the dining room area. We will be returning.

Food is decent and reliable. I really love their avocado salad. I gave three stars because I am mexican and am very picky about my food. Its consistently decent food, good service, would be great to see chilaquiles in their menu. Don't order carnitas expecting real mexican carnitas though

I had moderate expectations for this place, given that it seems like your average Mexican joint in a strip mall -- the decor is typical and budget; definitely nothing fancy. However the food is what will keep us coming back. I won't pretend to know what "authentic" Mexican food tastes like, but I do know what tastes good, and this is it. My husband and I drove down from Bethlehem on a recommendation, and as soon as our Fried Avocado appetizer arrived, we knew we made the right choice. I should point out that I don't even like avocado, and this was amazing -- stuffed with cheese and beef, it made an awesome spread on their homemade tortilla chips. We shared the Combo Toro, which had a chicken burrito, flautitas (spelling? I don't know if I'm remembering the name correctly), and cheese enchiladas. The burrito was good, although not mind-blowing; the chicken was very flavorful and moist, but otherwise it was just a typical burrito. The flautitas were like taquitos -- fried crispy filled with beef, cheese, beans, etc. Good, but again fairly standard. The hands-down winner were the amazing cheese enchiladas with awesome green sauce.... my mouth is watering just thinking about them. The cheese was melty and salty, and the green sauce had just the right amount of spiciness. Here's how good it was --- when our friends wanted to go out to eat the very next night, we suggested Casa Toro and happily ate their again. The same delicious fried avocado appetizer and cheese enchiladas. Yes, you read that correctly --- we went there two nights in a row because one night of deliciousness just wasn't enough to satisfy our cravings. Highly recommend.

Don't trust the hours they have posted on their door. Saturday hours say they are open until 11 pm and serving food until 10 pm. However was turned away at the bar before 9:45 PM and told the kitchen was closed.

Used to LOVE the black beans, but they have changed...sauces are all a bit different too. Not quite as good as they used to be. Still good, but not worth going out of the way for. Service is, and always has been, slow.

Really 3.5 stars, but I digress... I am a HUGE Cactus Blue fan. But, my BF wanted to branch out a bit and we've heard good things about this place. They have Cactus Blue beat on atmosphere, IMO. We got a nice booth and started with the chips and salsa which seemed to be flour tortillas- my favorite, very crispy, very good. Then, the highly touted fried avocado. Maybe it was because we got the veg. version but it just seemed a bit bland. Like a mozzarella stick with avocado and vegs thrown in. Not a BAD item, I mean, it's a deep fried cheese filled avocado, but I probably would've enjoyed guac more. I got the steak chimichanga which was not greasy at all. The steak was well cooked and the fillings were plentiful but something was just off about the seasoning. It tasted Whopper-esque, or whatever I remember a Whopper to taste like from my childhood, since I wouldn't go near one now. But again, I digress. The rice that it came with was delicious and the beans were par for the course. Fried ice cream for dessert was good, but it's fried ice cream so... Big portions! I was actually told the portions were small, but they definitely were not. Appetizer had 2 avocados, chimi was huge and the fried ice cream was 2 scoops which I've never seen before. I'd go back, I just would try a few different items. Pretty good overall.

Ive been to Casa Toro a few times and always enjoy myself. Great margaritas! They are my favorite place for Quesadillas (the marinated chicken is incredible) which are an appetizer but more than enough for a dinner entree. The shrimp torero ( I get diablo) is also really really good. However, I decided to write this review after I brought one of their $9.00 trays of chips and fresh pico de gallo to a superbowl party last night. My buddy asked that I bring chips and salsa- but I wanted to be slightly more impressive than a bag of tostitos and jar of El Paso. I had gotten an email update from Casa Toro that included superbowl specials- I always love the chips and pico they have free at the tables so I decided to place an order. BEST DECISION EVER! Everyone raved about the pico which was SO GOOD and FRESH! the homemade chips were still warm and perfectly salted and crunchy- and the whole tray became the center of attention amoong all the superbowl snacks. I wouldve paid exactly the same on a couple of bags of chips and a jar of salsa but this was SO MUCH BETTER. Im definitely going to do this for more parties and they offer quesadilla trays too! AWESOME! UPDATE: I had a really great time here on St. Patricks day (I know I know Mexican!? on St. Pattys? Coming from an Irish girl??) But my BF was really craving a burrito to stave off a hangover. They had great specials (Pot O'Gold Margaritas!) and I finally tried the fried avocado everyone on here seems to go ga-ga for. I dont even like avocado and I thought this was incredible. Gooey, cheesy, crispy and stuffed with beef...actually Im craving another one now. I was in a pretty grumpy mood being dragged out to a Mexican St. Pats- but I had so much fun! Great crowd, great staff. Upgrade to five stars because we are making this our new regular spot to hang out with friends.

Overall good first impression of Casa Toro. We went on a busy friday night and were seated after a short and well estimated wait. Drinks - well priced and nice variety. The bartender seemed to be a pro and knew many of the regulars at the restruant (in my opnion a good sign). Food- A-ok, nothing that blew my mind but standard mexican fare. I got the enchiladas which were good but a little dry and my friend got the tacos, which also were just ok. Our order of fresh guacamole was missing something on the flavor side, but was fresh. Service - Quick for a busy night and the waiter checked in on us many times.

Simply the very best Mexican restaurant in a 50 mile radius. Do not be put off by its location in a nondescript strip mall--this place could thrive in Manhattan. It takes us an hour to get here and we go as often as we can. The freshness of the ingredients is apparent in every dish, the staff is great, the happy hour specials awesome, and the food is always delicious. About two years ago, we had one incident when both of our meals were noticeably over salted but we loved this place so much that we tried it again and thankfully that has never been repeated. And we've been back many times since.

Love going here even if it's a bit of a drive!! They're open late, and have the BEST salsa I've ever had. Their staff is friendly and service is quick. Every dish I've gotten here had always been delicious and piping hot! I would recommend this place to anyone craving Mexican!

I would have given 3 stars based on my entree alone but the service and dessert bumped it to a four. The server was great and let us take our time with menu since it was our first time. She answered our questions and was attentive. I always tend to get the fajitas and did here as well. I got them "sizzling" (odd that this was an up charge to get them like we are used to with the hot plate). Anyhow, do NOT get the steak. Very tough. My husband enjoyed his plate. We shared the banana churro which was very yummy. Beware that if you are seated near the back you may have to deal with the bus boys chatting away. I also found the giant TV in the dining room a bit much. Overall a great place but be careful what you order; lesson learned.

Please note that I lived in northern Mexico most of my life. My husband and I were at Eruosports motorcycle and scooter shop and when we were told that the scooter I wanted needed to be prepared prior to test riding, we asked Bill, who works there where to eat that is not fast food. He recommended Casa Toro and what and excellent recommendation it turned out to be! They have Negra Modelo on tap (my favorite Mexican beer) and the menu has a lot of authentic Mexican dishes as well as americanized ones for those who do not like genuine Mexican food. I didn't expect such a good variety of dishes and quality of ingredients outside of an urban area. I ordered a tortilla soup and chicken enchilada and I will be back to eat at Casa Toro again when we are in the area. We never expected to find authentic Mexican food in a strip mall, and one that uses FRESH ingredients. The service was also excellent, very attentive and friendly without being overbearing. After the lovely lunch, we went back to Eurosports and bought a new Vespa Sprint scooter for me. All in all, it was a great day. I would love it if they would serve fresh tamarind water (not the soda) and house made horchata.

Spoken rudely to by bartender who was asked to serve tables because it was so crowded. I just asked what she would recommend. She said she did not have time for this. So......I just ordered what my friend ordered. This was a few years ago - I have never been back.

My go to Mexican restaurant in the area. The fried avocado appetizer is a must try. Also the shrimp entrees are very good as well. Portion size is pretty good. I usually leave with a doggie bag afterwards. Prices are a bit on the higher end but the inside of the restaurant is well decorated and the service was great. Note this review was on a slow Wednesday before the dinner rush hour. YMMV

I have to say that the majority of our visits to this establishment have been very dependable, with good food, drinks and service. Best margaritas anywhere around !! I get a lot of repeats of my favorite dish, Rollos Acapulco , which has NEVER been disappointing! My husband likes to try different things and is always happy. We love getting our free birthday meal, which we always spend way more than the face value of the coupon, but every bit helps

Wow - Mexican is our favorite food and we are super critical. So to give this place 5 stars - well it's just about perfect. From the margaritas to the salsa to the black beans - it's just amazing! Don't be put off by the location - once you're inside you'll forget all about the fact that it's in a strip mall. The tacos al pastor are simply the best - I wish they were on the menu all the time -but they are only for specials. That's OK - there's plenty of great items on the menu - try the enchiladas or the tostadas and you have to have anything with the tinga (pork and chorizo mixture). Margaritas are great as well - ask for the coconut margarita which isn't always on the menu.

The food is great as usual however tonight the service has proven to be a disappointment. The staff seems to be overwhelmed and we sat at our table almost a half an hour waiting to get the check. When we asked for dessert the waitress gave us some attitude and said "what do you want". We gave our order and continued to wait another half an hour. They are lucky that the food is good or I wouldn't be back.

Went here expecting to experience great Mexican food, left w/ the experience of ok to borderline good. Based on the repeated recommendations on here I tried the fried avocado w/ meat - almost tasteless. Also, tried the Rollos Acapulco - very bland. The pico de gallo - bland. It was like they ran out of all spices/seasoning , but decided to keep making the food without. Do they have two different chefs here??? maybe the good one was on vacation???? The fried ice cream was very good and the server was very attentive.

A bustling business and no wonder. The freshest ingredients in a Mexican restaurant I have ever had. Service was excellent too, but the food was FANTASTIC! All fresh herbs on salad and entree, incredible flavors in the sauces, all made to order - could not have been better!!!

Great value for money. Wide selection of usual Mexican fare tucked into a nondescript corner of a strip mall with a generic underwhelming sign "Mexican Restaurant" on 309. But don't be fooled by the exterior. Go inside and you will be treated to a warm and tasty Mexican eatery which has become one of my regular stops when visiting the Quakertown area. They have several veggie options and are always very accommodating at removing dairy from any dish (great for vegans) and well as other ingredient requests. They can make extra spicy versions of dishes. Best of all, their refried beans are lard-free (hallelujah!!!) and fresh made on premises with just real ingredients like beans, olive oil, garlic. Tasty, full bar, friendly owners who work hard to provide a quality dining experience.

ate there on saturday night. we would have made reservations if we knew how crowded it would get. it was the second time there. the salsa is freshly made. the food tastes very authentic and fresh. i had taco, enchiladas and a tostada and served with rice. the margaritas were good too. the service was decent but there wasnt a table open so it can be expected.

Arguably the best Mexican Food in PA. I have been all over and have never had the most amazing app that they serve here 'fried avocado'. I know it sounds evil-- kinda like a fried oreo or something and it is that good. I mean orgasmic good. If you like avocado that is. And I love it. There are two kinds- vegetarian and non. Go for the non. Yummy cheese and meat goodness melted and fried into an entire av. Think relleno batter. The entrees are also good and the drinks are great. My Dad and MIL go here for their happy hour specials, but I don't live that close, so I just take what I can get. Well worth the drive and completely unexpected for a strip mall in Coopersburg. Muy Buena Comida Casa Toro!

Okay, so it's time for an update (and an upgrade!). We ate here shortly after it opened (see review below) and thought it was just okay. However, we stopped by around 8 on Saturday night...hello change! The servings were twice as big as they were. The place was much more lively. And the food was much better. However, the service was still pretty mediocore, and we never got any chips and salsa (what's with that?!?). Our server brought our drinks & took our orders...she didn't come back until we were done with dinner. Thank goodness our food was okay...or we would have been stuck with it, I suppose. I heard several tables grumbling about wait staff issues. So the food's a four...the service is a three. I still like Cactus Blue better.

Absolutely 100% the best Mexican food I've tasted to date! PA lacks the flavor and authenticity but Casa is spot on. The rice could use some work but I have never had anything awful here. Get the Patron Margarita but I'd suggest having a DD as you get exactly what you should expect in higher quality tequila-A knock you on the floor drink :)

I never have a problem with the food. That doesn't disappoint. Tonight however I had to wait a half hour because they couldn't run my credit card. Really frustrating that we were left to sit there for a half hour after the meal while we guess what is going on. Apparently the system needed to be rebooted but the person who does it either wasn't told to do it or it takes a half hour to do. At the very least bring the kids some dessert or something. Left a sour taste in my mouth

Just visited Yelp to see the latest comments about the best Mexican restaurant north of the Pecos River! I have eaten at this restaurant often over the last 4 years and have probably eaten 90% of the items on the menu. Although, everyone is entitled to their opinion, if you read a negative comment about this restaurant, I would ignore it! I have never had a less than great meal from Casa Toro. Their ingredients are fresh and prepared deliciously. Lucy and Terry, owners, are great people and know that they would not tollerate anything but the best food and service. On a side note, we noticed that Amanda (an ex-Shulas Bartender) is now working there. Way to go Amanda! You made a step up by leaving Shulas and going to the Casa Toro. We love your service. If you go there, ask for Amanda, you won't be sorry! PS, My wife and I will never set foot in Shulas again! See you at Casa Toro again, Amanda! Keep up the great work!

We'd been fans of this place a few years ago, but stopped going during the construction mess on rt 309 that seemed to last FOREVER. Once the construction was over, they just seemed to fall off our radar. We stopped in Sat night for the first time in almost two years and I have to say now that we've eaten there again, I really missed the place. Fresh salsa is amazing, the carnitas are so fantastic I couldn't keep my husband out of my plate. House margaritas very good at $7, nice and tart and not overly sweet. Not sure I could justify (or notice the difference) in some of the pricier options. Nice to have different, fresher options than the Americanized cheese/bean burrito type meal. If there's a downside is that it was real zoo and they don't take reservations. They do 'call-ahead' which I'd seriously recommend for a fri/sat night. Adding it back into the rotation for a nicer date-night meal.

My whole family really likes Casa Toro. It's the best mexican food I've had in the Lehigh Valley, though I've not been to many places. I'm not a big fan of their salsa - to be honest, it's pico de gallo, though they advertise it as salsa. The other dishes are really very good and some are extraordinary. The service is very good and the price range is quite fair, not too expensive. Be sure to get the fried avocado if you are an avocado fan.

I ordered two soft beef tacos, rice, and refried beans. Everything was good. The refried beans were excellent. Two soft tacos, beans, rice, and drink came to around $14.00. PRICEY

I've been to this place twice in the last six months and just cannot get excited about it. My dining partner loves it and I cannot understand why. The service is poor with LOTS of attitude. The first time we went there we sat at the table for close to twenty minutes waiting for a server. Then the server came and exuded major attitude. One time I ordered chile rellenos and it was OK. The next time I ordered marinated shredded pork tacos. The actual food that was served didn't even come close to what was described in the menu. I took about three to four bites and didn't eat anymore. The meat was dry and had a funky taste. When I want tacos, I want double wrapped tacos with meat and onion. Why can't local Mexican restaurants get it right? Maybe we're hooked on an idea that tacos must have cheese, lettuce and tomato. The next time I am hungry for Mexican, I am going to follow the Brinkman Landscape truck-those Mexican workers knkow where cheap and great tasting food exists.

Wonderful specials and good drinks! Always a decent atmosphere and the staff is very nice. Margaritas are a must!!

Good Mexican food. Better than most. Too many places drown their food in cheese and non-nondescript sauces. This place was pretty simple, and good quality.

Dined there last night based on a friends recommendation. After living in California for many years, this was the only place in the Lehigh Valley we have tried that had good Mexican food. The place was packed, and we waited 20 minutes for a table of four. A testament to its popularity. We enjoyed the food, and will go back to try additional dishes. My wife loves Mango Margaritas, and she thought it was the best she has had outside Mexico. I tried it and liked it too. They are usually too sweet for me, but this one was well balanced. I had the Platinum Patron Margarita which was expensive @ $18, but a real treat! The place is hard to find the first time. In a strip mall by Weiss Market, but the only signs you can see from the street simply say: "Mexican Grill". You have to be walking in to the place before you see the Casa Toro sign. I'd give it a five, but the decor is lacking, and the place is noisy. The food however was excellent, and the service we received was pleasant and good.

If you're looking for fresh and delicious Mexican food, you really need to try this place. The salsa is super fresh, spicy and delicious. I had the shredded beef enchilada which was made from a corn. That's unusual for Mexican restaurants to serve corn tortillas, Usually they're made of flour which makes them really heavy. The sauce and the meat were really flavorful. The only reason I give the place 4 stars instead of 5 is the margaritas. They taste like they're made from a mix which was a real surprise to me considering how fresh the food is. So when you decide you want a great Mexican meal stop on in but, order a good beer with your meal. Also, there is a kids menu!

I drank a delicious real margarita and ate a fried stuffed avocado and was too full for the main course but, of course, I ate it anyway. Absolutely delicious! Weird location but once you're inside it feels authentic and warm. Back to the fried avocado. Have you ever had one? I hadn't. A pitted and halved avocado with spiced meat and cheese in each half, deep fried, and it's not hot and mushy it's muy, muy rico. Great service. I can't wait to go back.

Very good Mexican, probably one of the best in the Valley. Pretty standard menu with the fried avocado as a standout- a different spin a a guacamole type appetizer. I've been here 2 or 3 times in the last 6 months & have been very pleased!

A stellar and well deserved 4 stars for an establishment that took me far too long to finally visit. Casa Toro, like all the other reviewers mention, is so inconspicuously hidden in this random strip mall that it's amazing to discover how utterly busy it gets inside. They have perhaps one of the best happy hour deals in the area! It goes from 4:30-6:30pm on Monday through Friday at the bar only with 1/2 off all appetizers (except the ceviche) and $4 for some super stiff, yet delicious house margaritas. There were so many (full size) appetizers to choose from that my party ordered like it was a tapas menu. Here's the rundown in order of yumminess: Pollo Wings - by far the weakest; way too much sauce that just didn't stick to the wings Quesadilla Toro - chicken was a tad dry but that's what salsa and sour cream is for! Empanadas - yum! plump, perfectly fried and oh so good Fried Avocado - what a concept and what an insanely delicious dish! you can't go wrong here Indio - hands down, the best of the bunch; forget the quesadilla and go right for this one! I'm still trying to let it sink in that this meal including all the delicious grub and 9 drinks totalled about $50. I don't know about you, but that is one helluva deal. The rest of the menu looked pretty good too but with such an awesome deal during happy hour, no point in fixin' what ain't broken. The service was friendly and efficient. There was only one bartender working the very, very busy bar but we never had to wait too long for anything. Best of all this place is located coincidentally on my commute home from work. Happy hour anyone?!

This place rocks. Went there yesterday with the girlfriend after reading so many good reviews. Let me tell you it did not disappoint. We went during happy hour and got 4 dollar house margaritas that were excellent. I'm not a big fan of margaritas but my gf is and she said that it was perfect, she even got a second one. My second drink was a Sam Adams seasonal I needed it to help control the heat from the extra spicy habenero wings. They were SO GOOD. Unbelievably spicy yet you can still taste the tender juicy chicken, and the skin was cooked to a perfect crispness. I woke up today thinking about them, partly because I was paying for it on the commode but it was definitely worth it. Girlfriend got the chalupas, tiny little tortillas covered with chicken and fresh salsa and queso fresco. She killed the plate. After the complimentary chips and our appetizers we didnt even have room for an entree. Congrats Casa Toro you rock and I will be seeing you and those wings again soon.

This is the best Mexican food you can get in the Lehigh Valley area....any argument to the contrary is simply invalid.

This is one of my favorite places for lunch and what a deal! I always seem to get a ground beef burito. It is always perfect and only costs $8.95. They also have a lunch card that you get "punched" each time you go in and after 7 punches, your 8th lunch is free. The service is usually great and the staff is very friendly, unless they are extremely busy then the service slows a bit but I guess that is expected. I have recomended Casa Toro to a number of friends and also have taken some buisness associates there for lunch and all were impressed.

I first heard about this hidden gem from my g/f who kept bugging me to go. Finally, I gave in and I go every chance I get. It's located in a strip mall and might seem like more of a bar from the outside with it's glowing beer signs. Once you are inside you don't even remember that this place is located in a shopping center. The walls are all painted with bright, warm colors and adorned with beautiful Mexican art. Soon as you are seated the waitress brings you your chips and salsa which are tasty and seem to disappear quickly. The food always tastes amazing and you can tell they use fresh ingredients. The portions are very reasonable and we usually end up taking half our dish home for later. I have tried a few other places in the Lehigh Valley for Mexican food and this one is at the top of my list.

Food was good, server was very polite but when it came down to splitting a bill with a big party they failed. Told us in the beginning we could have separate checks only to find out we couldn't, yet 70% of us paid with our cards (separately). No idea why they couldn't split it up in the first place and make it easier. So just know if you go with a group of people you may have problems when it's time to pay!

This is one of the very best lunch deals you can find. It inconspicuously sits in a strip mall between a CVS and a liquor store, but inside has a charming, colorful decor and full bar. From inside, you would NEVER think "strip mall", so don't let that discourage you. They have lunch specials for as little as $6-8 dollars (for vegetarian options - meat options are not much more) and you get SO MUCH FOOD. (I am wondering what happened to the other guy who reviewed it that said he didn't get much? Trust me, I can eat, and I have never left this place without taking some home.) They start you with fresh chips and homemade salsa. I usually order the veggie burrito, which is absolutely huge, and comes with sides of seasoned rice, black beans, and toppings like guacamole. The burrito is full of fresh grilled onions, peppers, beans and cheese. You will not believe how much food this is for $6!!! It's also a great place for dinner, though from what I have ordered, the portion sizes seem exactly the same for lunch or dinner, and the dinner price is a little more money. It's great food no mater the time of day, but the same thing is cheaper at lunch! It tends to get pretty packed on weekends and evenings, and the lunch rush fills up quickly, but if you go between 11am-12pm, or the early afternoon, you will practically have the place to yourself. The servers have never been less than pleasant.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
