The service was very good. Bland food that was priced too high. The salmon special sounded very good, but was refrigerator cold in spots and tasteless. Two orders of prime rib on the table and both not as ordered (medium rare) and somehow tough and dry. Should have just tried ny strip. Wings were good, while calamari was very, very greasy. Salads were fresh. Looking for a good dinner the day after Christmas, but not up to par for pricing/expectations. Would not return for entrees, but would for beer and wings.

Seafood Alfredo was good with an assortment of seafood. The staff was great. This is not a super kid friendly place due to the linens and quieter atmosphere. Save this for date night with your significant other.

I have been wanting to go here for years and finally stopped in one night. I got the cheesy garlic bread for an appetizer and my friend absolutely LOVED the sauce that came with it. Then my friend got a steak and I got the chicken fettuccini Alfredo. My meal was very good, probably the best Alfredo sauce I have had around here but the steak was very disappointing. My friend ordered it medium well but it came out about medium rare, it was not tender, hard to cut, hard to chew, and had TONS of gristle on it. The prices weren't too bad, a little high but not too bad. The service was mediocre. I will probably give this place another go but will not be ordering any steaks.

I visit here VERY infrequently Last visit was in either late 2014 or 2013 I've only even been here 2-3 times over about five years, but have been unimpressed each time. I only ever go with my dad since his work occasionally gives him a gift card for this place as a thank you every couple years. The last time I went, they had prime rib (I believe that was the cut) as a special, so I got it. My brother got a side of bacon wrapped scallops. The bacon could have been cooked a little more, but it was still very good. My prime rib was under seasoned and under cooked. It was basically raw by the bone. I told my waitress and she asked if she wanted me to have her take it back to have it cooked longer. Uhhhhhh, no. The food definitely isn't good here and I would not recommend you spend money here out of your own pocket. It's also pricey as heck for the crap quality you get.

We went to the Rustic for our daughter's birthday, it was a Monday night and I didn't realize it was all you can eat crab legs. It was very noisy and loud! I ordered their crab cakes, they were voted best in Carlisle the last few years. The only reason I can think why is because there really isn't much competition in the area to compare to. Yes, it is a large portion but a lot of filler and not much flavor at all. My daughter got their Chicken Parm and it was simply a chicken breast over a plate of spaghetti with cheese and a very plain marina sauce. The chicken breast was not breaded and again very bland. My husband had one of their specials, Pasta Diablo, another generous portion and the description said spicy and he loves hot spicy food but this was beyond spicy. The service was good but it will be awhile until we go back.

This is a nice little place. It has a calm environment and a good mix of old school and modern in the decorations. The food was pretty good. I personally had the full rack of ribs and I would rate those as 7 out of 10. My wife had a pasta dice with shrimp which she absolutely loved. All the portions were worth the money spent. I would suggest that everyone in the area or passing through try the Rustic at least once.

I was pleasantly surprised by how great this place was. Not being familiar with Carlisle we were eating at chains close to the freeway. We had to follow someone to find it, but they were right, it was the best eating experience we've had in Carlisle.

we have now been back a couple of times and we have gotten better service and the food was much improved. I have stuck with the appetizer menu, spinach dip is particularly good. Now that it has gone none smoking we have become somewhat regulars at the bar. one day the locals will "let us in" :-)

Based off of reviews on another site, I had high expectations of this place. We had a drafty smokey spot to sit at. Food was just ok, kinda disappointing. Probably the best thing was my husbands steak.

Good service! Even better food! Hubby and I split steamed clams and a 3 choice Mixed Grille of ribs, crab tortellini alfredo, fried shrimp. All perfectly prepared and left us comfortably full. Finished with bananas foster cheesecake and a Troeg's draft. Total $46.44. Excellent value for quality dinner.

The food was excellent! My steak was cooked to perfection. My co workers and I stopped in here before checking into our hotel and none of us were dis appointed. Service was kind of slow, but there was only two waitresses on. We will definitely be back...

This is by far the best restaurant I have eaten at in Carlisle. I have only lived here for about 6 months, but I have tried many of the restaurants. For American dishes such as Steaks, Seafood, and Burgers as well as pasta dishes - this is the place to go. They have a few beers on tap, usually 1 or 2 special beers and the regular American Lagers. When I do go to eat, most of the time I get their French Onion Soup and a Burger. I have tried their Wings and Mozzarella Sticks from their Appetizer Menu, which were pretty good as well. If you are in the area, I would recommend stopping here to grab a bite to eat and a beer.

The service is great, everyone was friendly. Food was average and simple. Loved the sweet potato fries and onion rings. The $7 apple pie was terrible, it was overcooked and mushy. I would go back for sandwiches and beer, the entrees were expensive for uncreative food.

We came in late at night (about 10) after travelling all day. Our hostess got our drink orders and appetizer orders, but was really abrupt and pretty rude. It went uphill from there! Our server was amazing and the food was very good. My boyfriend had the prime rib and I had a sirloin with mushroom risotto. Both were perfectly cooked and tasted amazing. Our waitress heard that we were staying at a local hotel and gave us a discount, we had no idea we even qualified. Overall, a really good stop for dinner!

A haven for travelers. - In the middle of a long day of driving during a particularly rainy and dreary day, we were in search of food and alighted upon this place, the Rustic Tavern. I liked it because the name of the place is the same as where Frank Sinatra first worked as a waiter and occasionally sang on stage. (This isn't that place, but the name is similar). - OK well the food blew us away! The baha chicken tacos were amazing! The place has this old-school feel to it, and I thought the food was gonna be garbage (sorry!) but it was EXCELLENT. I was so happy to finally get a real good meal on the road that day. It really hit the spot. I forget what my pal ordered, I was too absorbed with my dish. But we both loved it. - If you're in the area, definitely give them a try!!!

When we decided to go to the Rustic Tavern after work one day we pulled up the menu online and really got excited. All of the specials sounded delicious and there were even special coffees to try. So before we got there we already knew what we planned to order. So we did. The chili was decent, I've had better I've had worse, and the salads were fairly proportioned and fresh. I should make mention that the dressing my coworker got was exceptionally good. Some kind of creamy Parmesan. The calamari was as expected; fried and with marinara. When the entrees came out, they looked just as good as they had sounded, but to taste them somewhat lessened the hype. The food wasn't bad, but looking back at the menu and considering the prices we weren't overly impressed. Whats upsetting is we had heard such good things about their seafood and so that is all we got. Oddly enough all of our food tasted better reheated the next day. For dessert we tried PB Pie and Raspberry Cheesecake. These were both good, but again nothing to write home about. If the prices hadn't been what they were (and I am not saying it was too expensive) I would give this place another star, however we were definitely expecting more. On top of the, the place was a little small so seating was rather tight. Give this place a try, but don't get your hopes up.

We stop here when we come to the car show every year. The food is great! We have recommended it to many friends that love it as well.

One of the better restaurants in Carlisle.. I recommend the Crab Cakes, I have never been disappointed.. Beer selection on tap is kind of on the disappointing side but that is to be expected sometimes for a more fine casual dining experience.. Food is great and staff is usually on top of it.. It can get kinda crowded so I would be aware that you might have to wait or Try to call ahead

Authentic tavern experience. Good amount of beers available, friendly staff, and dark tavern ambience are highlights. Steaks, sweet potato fries, and chicken wings are recommended. Seafood offerings are overcooked. The place could stand to be warmer in the winter and the cooks could use more salt.

Yum - Baha Chicken Tacos - weirdly served with chips, pickles and cole slaw - really tasty! Burgers good too. Onion rings okay.... Great service - I would eat here again. Dinner menu looks promising and great value overall.

Had to stop back in to get more scallops just to show everyone! Plus 3 dollar clams were a hit too! A job well done to Jill the bartender and my server for being awesome, friendly and attentive even though I was at a table by myself (as I always am) and to the cooks in the back, hell of a job you nameless faceless heroes. You make this place truly a destination. Thank you.

Rustic Tavern is right down the street from where I live. We've been to the bar several times. Always a great time. Nice layout to allow people to talk to one another. Staff has been great. I challenged the bartender to make something fun when I went in for my birthday. She made and incredible minty drink and then followed it with a fruity drink. Not what I normally consume, but it was a real treat. We ate at the restaurant once. Meh. Not bad certainly, but didn't live up to the hype or prices to me. The crab cakes were OK. This close to Baltimore, you need a crab cake that's better than OK to impress me. Service in the restaurant was nowhere near as good as the bar. They did have a large group the one time we went, but seemed to still have plenty of staff standing around. There are a handful of decent restaurants in Carlisle. I wish, since it's so close, that Rustic Tavern was on the go list, but it's just not. We'll just be stopping in to hit the bar and watch NFL games we don't get at home.

After being shut down at a few restaurants that closed at 9pm (on a Friday!) in Mount Holly (???!), we decided to give the Rustic a call to see if they were still serving food. The cheerful answer was "Kitchen's open til 11!", so we drove there to fill the void in our bellies. We were greeted kindly and service, as always, was fantastic. The food was great, too! Bacon wrapped scallops appetizer was super yummy. The fish tacos were better than the chicken, but both were good. Burgers were devoured by our dining companions, and drinks were refilled as needed. Big "thanks!" to the Rustic for being a solid choice!

Great food, great service, relaxed atmosphere, clean restaurant, etc. I don't understand the naysayers on here.

Good food but very, very slow service. Too many tables assigned to limited number of waitresses. Took 20 minutes to get first drink. Waitress was too rushed to talk. Don't be in a hurry.

Had the Diablo pasta dish - very god - a little on spicy side - quick service and cold beers - life is goodbye- best part was the pickup in the parking lot with a mattress in the back-

Chose this restaurant primarily as a centrally located option for meeting people hours away for a meal. The food was fantastic (raviolli, steak, scallops, chicken parm, shrimp and haddock) and the service outstanding. I dont know the owners or staff, but was very pleased with the quality of food which was expertly prepared and plentiful. Will definitely return if back in Carlisle for a meal (I live about 75 miles away). Highly recommend!

My wife and I visit the Rustic Tavern every couple of weeks. It is not the best restaurant we've eaten at, but it is local and has decent/ok food. Unfortunately, Carlisle doesn't offer many choices, if it did, we probably wouldn't go here that often. The restaurant is located off the beaten path and has an older look to it. It does offer outside seating during the summer. The ambiance is ok, but it could be cleaner and benefit from some upgrades. We enjoy some of the staff here, they do get to know you and remember certain things about you and your orders; while, some of the wait staff are just unfriendly and should find another profession. We sometimes cringe when we get certain wait staff. The best way I can describe the food is "OK"; however, that deserves an explanation. I do enjoy many of their specials, I rarely order anything off their regular menu as they generally have something on the specials list that peaks my interest. The cook/chef has a fascination with cooking just about everything on their menu in an oven versus a grill etc. This generally leads to food being a bit bland. I really want to give this place a higher rating but I have a hard time justifying it, I enjoy the people, which creates a conflict. Sometimes the main course is great but the accompaniments are poor. For example, during my past visit, my onion rings were burnt, looked as if they were sitting for about an hour, full of grease, and many didn't have an actual "onion" inside (I ended up not eating them), bread is sometimes burnt, while other times undercooked, or hard as a rock. Overall, inconsistent. The majority of the food in on par with a diner type restaurant menu; however, they have select items that deserve a higher rating. A great example would be their prime rib. Very good and I would recommend it! A poor example would be their crab leg special. You can find better crab legs on a chinese buffet. When it comes to quantity, many times I've been surprised at the quantity of food I have gotten. I have never left hungry! The prices are fair... I have to go back to the consistency comment. Sometimes the food is great, other times I feel like I am getting screwed. Overall, some of their food is good, some surprisingly good. Many items are bland and resemble that of which you would expect from a diner. Value is middle of the road, while quantity of food is high. Staff is hit or miss which seems to be the theme of the the Rustic Tavern.

We ate there last weekend and the food and the service were terrible ! First our salmon was dry and looked like it came out of a box from the supermarket ,the crab cake was awful don't think there was any crab !! Then the steak that was ordered was done wrong and took them forever to bring it back...we were all done with our dinner . No apology for it being late ! Will never go there again ! Do yourself a favor and go for pizza before you waste your money here .

We have eaten at the Rustic Tavern several times and have never had a bad dinner. The prices are reasonable with ample portions. The ribs are fall off the bone good as is the open face steak sandwich. The tables all have white tablecloths which is a nice touch. The inside is in need of updating as are the rest rooms. Service is usually good and if it is not, we tip appropriately.

One of my favorites in Carlisle. The crab legs are typically good as is the crab imperial and crab cakes. Salads are pretty good. Can get pretty busy at times and is on the louder side of restaurants. I would recommend this to mostly everyone.

Have always loved this place. However our recent dining venture was more than disappointing. We had reservations and were greeted promptly by a waitress and had given our drink orders. There was a lengthy wait before we received any dinner rolls or our soup/salad. It ended up being nearly 90 minutes til we received our entree. Ot was a busy evening and appeared to see two waitresses for approximately 16 tables. The grilled salmon was charred on the underside and the asparagus on top was toug. They were out of horseradish sauce. The waitress apologized for any inconvenience stating the cook was just fired. We were compensated with free dessert as well. However there seemed to be more issues that needed addressed aside from the missing cook. Very disappointed after looking forward to a good meal. It will be awhile til we return.

Checked in told the wait would be about 20 mins, no problem we will wait at the bar. About 45 mins later still no seat and at least 3 parties seated before us. During the boat to the bar, it took about 10 mins for the bartender to even give us a nod. The Bartender did not seem very friendly, but did make and ok whiskey sour (most bars/bartenders can not). While waiting noticed that the hostess was also bussing tables and often not at her post to greet people. After being seated the waitress was immediately at our table to take our order. Did I forget to mention that we were seated at the worse table in the place. Sour cream is served in individual sealed cups! Is this a restaurant or cafeteria? Chili cheese fries were ok, but nothing to write home about. The water glass that are filled with water before you are even taken to your table, are the brown colored short glass from 1980. Why waste water, three of the four tables around didn't even touch the water, including me. The prime rib was pretty good and great for this area. The mrs ordered the mixed grillwhich she loved the crab cake. the house sirloin she ordered med well, was WELL done piece of gray dry beef. I think that this place has either to hi of food/labor/beverage cost and are trying to fix it by having the hostess bus and set tablets, they are maximizing profits and the expense of the customer experience. The waitress was good. 2 star for overall customer service. 3 for food. Overall 2.5. Whoever with a little focus could easily a 5 star.

I heard they were having Greek Week so I went to website and could find nothing. For special events they had something about Mother's Day six months ago. I tried to email them but there is no contact email. So then I went to their Face Book page and again nothing about Greek Week. So I called and based on 9 Greek Aps and 10 Greek mains I booked. The place was busy for a Monday night. The servers were hustling but had too many tables to give good service, we never got any bread even after asking. Our waitress was pleasant, just rushed. Our food was good. My friend's soulvaki was very good, I had lamb which was beautifully cooked but there was very little meat. The calamari was fresh and cooked well, not sure the tomato sauce helped the dish, lemon butter with sweet peppers would have been better. The Greek potatoes were good and I enjoyed the Greek salad. I think this may be the place for steak. A couple I saw go out looked a very good size, will try next time they have a steak special. It is 2013 and these people need to know how to use social media and keep their website current. I would like to know when they next have a Greek night or a steak special but i am not going to call in every wee, they did nothing to capture my email address to keep me informed of specials.

On our way to New Jersey we stayed at Carlisle, and wondered where to dine. So thought of checking out Rustic Tavern. It is an interesting place, seems quite popular. Well it is Saturday evening. We did not make any reservation but did not have any trouble in getting seats even though it was almost 7 in the evening. They quickly took orders and promptly provided food - excellent service. We had onion rings as an appetizer which was excellent. We had grilled tilapia and prime rib steak. The portions were quite generous. The place was a bit noisy through, quite casual. I wouldn't mind going here again.
